Her 2005 Ford Focus was located Thursday by detectives in the parking lot at the Publix at U.S. 1 and Wildwood Drive, about a half-mile from her home in the 100 block of Phoenetia Drive in St. Augustine Shores. The Sheriff's Office said it has processed her home and car, but so far there is no evidence of foul play as detectives continue the investigation. Ware is described as a white female, 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Missing St. Johns woman 'endangered,' say police Person of interest singled out in Rebecca Ann Ware's disappearance Posted: November 12, 2010 - 9:50pm By Steve Patterson St. Johns County detectives found evidence of foul play as they looked for a woman who vanished last month, a Sheriff's Office spokesman reported Friday night. The investigators are looking for a person they think is connected to Rebecca Ann Ware's disappearance, but decided not to release more information about the person of interest, said an email from Sgt. Chuck Mulligan. Ware, 34, hasn't been seen since she left her job at a St. Augustine aluminum company Oct. 29. Her Ford Focus was found Nov. 4 in a Publix parking lot on U.S. 1, about a half-mile from her home in St. Augustine Shores. Mulligan said detectives relabeled Ware's status as "missing/endangered" based on information and evidence they collected this week. He said detective are still looking for tips about Ware's disappearance. Authorities have described her as white, 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Two rewards totaling up to $6,000 have been posted for information leading to an arrest. To report tips, call the Sheriff's Office at (904) 824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2010-11...da+Times-Union) |

http://staugustine.com/news/local-news/201...h-missing-woman No body found in search for missing woman Sheriff's Office says more searches to come Posted: November 20, 2010 - 12:00am By JENNIFER EDWARDS St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies are preparing to search several sites possibly associated with the disappearance of Rebecca Ware, 34, of St. Augustine. More than a dozen deputies and a helicopter team searched a large swath of woods at State Road 206 and County Road 305 in Elkton on Friday morning but by afternoon had found "nothing of evidentiary value," Chuck Mulligan said. "Detectives are working up the next search site," he said. "However, the plans are not finalized yet." Mulligan declined to say how many sites were to be searched, but said at least one is in Putnam County. Mulligan said the Elkton site was one of many that had been identified through "several interviews with many individuals." Ware, of Phoenetia Drive in St. Augustine, hasn't been heard from since Oct. 29 and was reporting missing Nov. 2. Deputies suspect foul play and have identified a person of interest in the disappearance. Mulligan said no charges had been filed so far. "Our feeling at this point is that someone aided in the disappearance of Ms. Ware," he said. Ware has three children, 14-year-old twins and a 15-year-old daughter, Record reports show. She was last seen by friends and family on Oct. 29, when she left work for the day at Hydro America at 200 Riviera Blvd., according to a Sheriff's Office report. Family members found a purse with Ware's driver's license and ATM cards missing inside her house on Nov. 2. Her touch-screen cell phone, which was smashed in, was lying on the coffee table in her living room, according to Ware's aunt, Theresa Nolan. Deputies found Ware's abandoned Ford Focus in the parking lot of the Publix shopping plaza on Wildwood Drive on Nov. 4, reports show. |

Ware was last seen leaving her St. Augustine Shores home for work the morning of Oct. 29 and was reported missing by family four days later. Deputies found Ware’s 2005 Ford Focus at Publix on Wildwood Drive. Family members say they found ATM cards missing from her home and a smashed cell phone on a table. http://www.news4jax.com/news/26377542/detail.html Missing Woman's Boyfriend Named POI 40-Year-Old Ex-Con Was Living With Woman At Time She Disappeared POSTED: Wednesday, January 5, 2011 UPDATED: 6:34 pm EST January 5, 2011 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Investigators with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office have named a person of interest in the disappearance of a 34-year-old woman who vanished in October. Rebecca Ware has not been heard from since Oct. 29 when she left her workplace. She was reported missing by family members the following week. On Wednesday, investigators said 40-year-old Timothy Johnson, of Palatka, has been named as a person of interest in connection with Ware's disappearance. Investigators said Johnson was Ware's boyfriend, and the two were living together at the time she went missing. Due to the circumstances surrounding Ware's disappearance and the potential of foul play being involved, detectives said they are continuing to investigate the information they have. In November, deputies searched a wooded area in connection with the case, but the search did not yield anything. Detectives said they are aware of many details and persons who have connections to the case, but because of the nature of the investigation, they are not releasing specific details. Johnson was released from the Florida Department of Corrections in February 2007 after serving 15 years of a 22-year prison sentence for kidnapping, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault that occurred in Putnam County in 1991. "My last words to my niece, I said, 'You've got a good guy this time, you know,' and sort of praising (Johnson)," said Theresa Nolan, Ware's aunt. "My mind goes back to that day that I met him, and he was so nice and so polite and said all the right things. "I talked to a few of her co-workers, or a couple of her co-workers at her job, and they had seen the abuse," Nolan said. "She had bruises on her. She was wearing long-sleeves." Ware is described as a white woman, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Her vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Wildwood Drive Publix. Anyone with any information concerning this investigation is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477). |

Disappearance case focuses on Palatka man Published: Thursday, January 6, 2011 12:16 AM EST Palatka Daily News Investigators say a Palatka man is "a person of interest" in the October disappearance of a St. Augustine Shores woman. Rebecca Ann Ware was last seen leaving her job on Oct. 29, 2010. Her boyfriend, 40-year-old Timothy Johnson of Palatka, has been questioned by St. Johns County detectives and is considered "a person of interest" in the case, sheriff's office spokesman Kevin Kelshaw said Wednesday. Johnson, who has served prison time for attempted murder, has not been charged in connection with the Ware case, Kelshaw said. "Foul play is suspected because of the circumstances," Kelshaw said in a telephone interview. Johnson and Ware were living together when Ware disappeared, Kelshaw said. Ware, 34, was reported missing by her family after she failed to return home from work. On Nov. 19, 2010, some three weeks after Ware vanished, St. Johns County investigators searched a wooded area near State Road 206 and County Road 305 for clues. Their search efforts may extend into Putnam County, Kelshaw said. "Searchers found no evidence in the search," Kelshaw said. "However, deputies will be looking in other areas in southern St. Johns County and in Putnam County in the days to come." Kelshaw said Wednesday the investigation has made progress, but declined to be more specific. "Detectives are aware of many details and persons who have connections to this case; however, due to the nature of this investigation, specific details have not been released," he said. Ware's car was found in the parking lot of a shopping center near her home almost a week after she was last seen. Kelshaw said crime-scene technicians examined the car for "any potential evidence" as well as Ware's home in the 100 block of Phoenetia Drive. Ware was last seen leaving her job at the Hydro America aluminum extrusion plant in St. Augustine. Hydro America is offering a $5,000 reward for information about her whereabouts, Kelshaw said. Johnson was released from prison in February 2007 after serving 15 years of a 22-year sentence for kidnapping, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Putnam County. Johnson also was convicted of sexual battery with a weapon in 1988, according to the state Department of Corrections. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in finding Ware. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives Charles Brantley or George Harrigan at (904) 824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 277-8477. http://www.palatkadailynews.com/articles/2...news/news01.txt |

Arrest made in disappearance of St. Johns County woman Submitted by FirstCoastNews Web Staff Tuesday, August 28th, 2012, 3:19pm Topics: News Share on printPrint Share on emailE-mail .. .ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide division of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest in the disappearance of Rebecca Ware. Detectives have arrested 42-year-old Timothy Johnson. Johnson has been charged with 2nd degree murder, according to a news release from SJSO Public Information Officer Catherine Payne. Johnson was arrested by detectives from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and agents with the U.S. Marshal's Service in Putnam County, Payne said. Investigators coordinated Johnson's arrest after a Grand Jury indicted him Monday. He had been named a person of interest in Ware's disappearance in June of 2011. Rebecca Ware was last seen October 29, 2010 in St. Johns County. Detectives have been investigating her disappearance since then. Ware's remains have not been located. Payne said information and evidence led police to believe Ware's death was foul play and that Johnson was responsible for her death. Detectives are still looking for any information regarding Ware's disappearance. Anyone who has any additional information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Eugene Tolbert with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Robbery/Homicide Division at 904-209-3985. Family of Missing St. Johns County Woman Rebecca Ware Still Waits for Answers 12:23 AM, Jan 5, 2011 | 0 comments Facebook Twitter Google buzz Del.icio.us Digg Reddit Newsvine Buzz up! Fark it - A A A + FILED UNDER Local News COMMUNITIES St. Augustine Rebecca Ware, Missing Since October 29, 2010 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The family of a missing St. Johns County woman believes they're closer to getting some answers about her disappearance. Rebecca Ware, 34, has not been seen since late October. Authorities suspect foul play and her family wants some kind of closure soon. "Me and her were really close," said her aunt Theresa Nolan. Nolan said she's already come to a tough realization. "I'm 100 percent sure she's no longer with us," she said. Ware was last seen on Oct. 29. Days later, her car was found abandoned in a Publix parking lot not far from her St. Augustine home. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said they do have a person of interest in the case. Although they haven't officially said who, they did tell First Coast News a man by the name of Timothy Johnson from Putnam County is part of their investigation. "He knew that she was leaving him and the day it happened, she wasn't planning on going back to that house," said Nolan. Nolan said Ware and Johnson were in a relationship for close to a year. He has an extensive criminal background, serving time in prison for attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault and sexual battery. Ware's family said she was ending the relationship with Johnson and moving back to Jacksonville to be with the father of her children. "She was leaving. She was definitely leaving. Actually she had already left the house," said Nolan. But she hasn't been heard from since. Nolan is confident an arrest will come but thinks it will unfortunately be because her niece's body is found. "I just think she's the missing piece," said Nolan. She said the family just wants justice. A search near County Road 206 shortly after Ware's disappearance turned up nothing but St. Johns County officials said they're still working the case and plan to search areas of Putnam County soon. There is a $5,000 reward for information regarding Ware's disappearance. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/s...?storyid=185154 John Gaffney, Father of Rebecca Ware's Children: "He is an Evil Man" 1:15 AM, Jan 6, 2011 | 0 comments Rebecca Ware, Missing Since October 29, 2010 Facebook Twitter Google buzz Del.icio.us Digg Reddit Newsvine Buzz up! Fark it - A A A + Written by Jessika Lewis FILED UNDER Local News COMMUNITIES St. Augustine ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The sheriff's office has named the estranged boyfriend of a missing woman as a person of interest in her investigation. The father of Rebecca Ware's children spoke out Wednesday night. Ware, 34, was last seen as she left work last October, and investigators are trying to figure out if her estranged boyfriend, Timothy Johnson, 40, is to blame. John Gaffney has three children with Ware. They were together for years, but on October 30, 2009 they separated. Gaffney said it's hard to swallow that exactly a year later, Ware disappeared. "It bothers me that she could decline so fast in such a short span of time. To have an end like this bothers me," Gaffney said. Ware and Johnson had a rocky relationship, according to Gaffney. He said Ware told him that Johnson abused her repeatedly, including choking her so badly that it busted blood vessels in her eyes. Gaffney said he reported the alleged abuse to investigators looking into what happened to the mother of his children. But Ware never reported anything to police. Gaffney acknowledged that his relationship with Ware wasn't always good. He said he served time for a domestic violence issue involving Ware back in 1998. Duval County Court records show that he also had a domestic battery charge in 2008. "I did it and the punishment that I got, I deserved it," Gaffney explained. "I should always have control of my hands and be in control of my life." Still, Gaffney has had the task of making sure the three teenaged children he shared with Ware are able to cope with their mother's disappearance. He said despite not knowing what has happened, they're handling things well. "My kids are doing great because of me. I'm a great father. We sit down and we talk. Reality hasn't really set in for them yet. I have let them know that they probably won't see Mommy again, but I don't linger on that conversation." Despite that, Gaffney said it's been hard not having Ware around. He mentioned that Ware had only been living with him and their children again for a short time before she went missing. "She has clothes that are over here that are in my closet and I will never get rid of them. Because she was back with us for four days. There are just so many other things I wish I could have said to her or done," Gaffney furthered. Gaffney described Johnson as an evil man and said he's caused Ware's friends and family a lot of pain. "One day you think there's hope. The next day you think there's none." First Coast News |

an older article Rebecca Ware Left For Work Three Months Ago in St. Augustine, not Seen Since 12:56 PM, Jan 30, 2011 | 0 comments Facebook Twitter Google buzz Del.icio.us Digg Reddit Newsvine Buzz up! Fark it - A A A + FILED UNDER Local News COMMUNITIES St. Augustine Rebecca Ware, Missing Since October 29, 2010 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Rebecca Ware left for work three months ago and was never heard from again. Her family believes Ware will never be seen alive again. Tonight, the Ware family held a vigil for the 34-year old St. Johns County woman. The vigil was held in the Publix parking lot on U.S. 1 South where her car was found a week after she disappeared. In a parking spot, Ware's family set up a small table with all their favorite pictures. "She was really a funny person," said Theresa Nolan, Ware's aunt. "She would get together all of us and say 'Let's go out and eat. It is on me!' And we'd get there and she's not paying!" But Nolan's smile disappeared as she said, "(Rebecca) is not out here. I don't believe that...My prayer is that God will let her body surface." David Ware, Rebecca's younger brother, said while a person of interest has been named, it is difficult on the family because no one has been arrested in connection to the disappearance. "To know that my sister is missing is very complicated," he said. "It is just sad we have to be here with pictures and not actually here with my sister." However, the family has faith in St. Johns County investigators and prays it soon won't have so many unanswered questions. A $5,000 reward is being offered in the Rebecca Ware case. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office on Friday morning will be searching for the remains of a woman who's been missing since October 2010. Investigators said they will begin a search at 8 a.m. in Palatka for the remains of Rebecca Ware. In August, a grand jury indicted Ware's boyfriend, Timothy Johnson, on a charge of second-degree murder, though her body hasn't been found. Timothy Johnson Johnson, 42, had been named a person of interest in Ware's disappearance, but had not previously been charged. Ware, 34, was last seen Oct. 29, 2010, when she left her workplace, Hydro Aluminum North America, in St. Augustine Shores. Her car was found in a Publix parking lot in St. Augustine. One year ago, deputies spent two days search an area of southern St. Johns County near Elkton, but no evidence in the case was found. Johnson (pictured, right) was arrested on unrelated sexual assault charges in Putnam County in September 2011. He had been released from jail on a reduced plea in that case. |

http://www.news4jax.com/news/Nothing-found...52/-/index.html Nothing found in search for missing woman's remains Rebecca Ware disappeared in October 2010; boyfriend charged with murder Published On: Oct 11 2012 04:15:00 PM EDT Updated On: Oct 12 2012 03:12:34 PM EDT PALATKA, Fla. - The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office late Friday morning ended a search of a heavily wooded area in Palatka for the remains of a woman who's been missing since October 2010. Investigators started their search with a cadaver dog about 8 a.m. at the end of Beech Street for the remains of Rebecca Ware. They ended just before noon after saying nothing was found. "We searched (the area) in the past a little over a year ago," Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Catherine Payne said. "We came back, obviously, because we received relevant information that Rebecca Ware's remains may be in the area." That tip, however, didn't lead to any discoveries. "We feel confident that after the second search that this area doesn't hold any kind of evidence in this case," said Sheriff's Office Detective Eugene Tolbert. In August, a grand jury indicted Ware's boyfriend, Timothy Johnson, on a charge of second-degree murder, though her body hasn't been found. Timothy Johnson Johnson (pictured right), 42, had been named a person of interest in Ware's disappearance, but had not previously been charged. "Johnson is from this area," Payne said of the search site. "We have information he grew up in this area. He did go in and out of these woods as a child. He fished in this area. He's probably very familiar with it." "This area had been previously searched in 2011," Tolbert said. "The source of information close to Mr. Johnson, the suspect in this case, had urged us to come back and check the area again." Ware, 34, was last seen Oct. 29, 2010, when she left her workplace, Hydro Aluminum North America, in St. Augustine Shores. Her car was found in a Publix parking lot in St. Augustine. Last year, deputies spent two days search an area of southern St. Johns County near Elkton, but no evidence in the case was found. Johnson was arrested on unrelated sexual assault charges in Putnam County in September 2011. He had been released from jail on a reduced plea in that case. Johnson's family home on Palmetto Street is less than a half-mile from where investigators searched Friday. A woman at the home did not want to comment. |
