Ronnie Odell Davis
Missing since August 24, 1977 from Swink, Choctaw County, Oklahoma
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics

Date Of Birth: April 23, 1953
Age at Time of Disappearance: 24 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 6'2"; 180 lbs.
Distinguishing Characteristics: White male. Red hair; blue eyes.
Marks, Scars: Acne scars on his face.
Clothing: Blue denim jeans, a blue denim shirt, and a gold watch.
Dentals: False teeth; one tooth in the front is either silver or gold.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Ronnie Davis was last seen at his corral, where he had gone to tend his horses. Two men who drove by the corral told the family they remembered seeing Ronnie jump into the back of his 1975 pickup as two other men stood by, one of them smiling and holding a rifle.
The two witnesses didn't stop, though. They said that as they drove on, they saw a blue and white Buick, with Texas tags, parked nearby.
Neither Ronnie nor his pickup was ever seen again. Police did not become involved until three days later, and that they found no clues. Ronnie didn't pack any clothes and most of his valued possessions were left in his room.
Family members say they think Ronnie was mistakenly linked to the theft of marijuana growing in the area and was killed because of it. Ronnie did not take drugs, or drink alcohol. Family members said they think someone may have stolen marijuana from a field and stored part of it in Ronnie's corral. They believe the owner discovered the marijuana in the corral and thought Ronnie was involved in the theft and had him silenced.
Ronnie Davis’s pick up truck is still missing; it is a 1975 Ford XLT 3/4-ton pickup white over royal blue. Oklahoma License Plate # 440-699, serial # FALV 30056.
Foul play is suspected.
Ronnie, a part-time calf roper who competed in rodeo events, had a good-paying job at the nearby Weyerhaeuser company and had money in the bank.

Choctaw authorities
study slaying link

Jan. 21. 1979 5A
HUGO, Okla. — Choctaw County authorities say they are checking the possibility
of a connection between a Kilgore shotgun slaying of two young men and the 1977
shotgun killings of two potential svitnesses in a federal drug conspiracycase.
"There's a possible connection," Choctaw CountyDistrict Attorney investigator
Lyndol Fry said Friday. Fry. along with Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics investigators
and federal authorities were in Longview and Kilgore Thursday to check on that possibility.
Charles Kdinond Sweeten. of Longview. has been charged with murder in
connection with the shotgun slayings of Kilgore College
freshmen Michael A. Haase and Fred Walter "Wally" Parks. He is being held in
Gregg County Jail in lieu of $10.000 bond.
Sweeten was one of 37 persons charged in connection with a drug smuggling case that centered in Idabel, Okla. and involved the growing of
marijuana on a farm there, as well as its transport from the Texas Rio Grande Valley at McAllen. Some were convicted: others not, authorities said.
Sweeten himself is appealing a federal conviction last year that resulted from
the drug conspiracy case. James Karl Cook and Halph Fatty were found
shotgunned to death Dec. 2. 1977 in a rural residence in McCurtain County. They
were also named in the same indictment which named
Sweeten.
Although Fry said he did not talk to Sweeten, he "assumed he knew who they
were." (Cook and Patty) Longview Detective Mike Maxie indicated there was
only a "possible" correlation between those deaths and the
deaths of the two Kilgore College students.
"He's not talking to anybody," Fry said, adding that Sweeten was only
communicating with his attorney.
Another possible connection. Fry said, is to the whereabouts of Ronnie OdellDavis, who has been missing from his Fort Towson residence since Aug.24,1977. "Everybody is wondering what happened to Ronnie Davis." Fry said. "We don't know. In fact there are a bunch of people around here
who are dead or missing we'd like to find out where
they are." Aside from Sweden's involvement in the Idabel case. Oklahoma authorities said they are interested in questioning the subject because 12-gauge shotguns are believed to have been used in both double murders. Parks and Haase both had been shot with a shotgun, probably sometime Jan. 8. officers said. The pair had apparently been dead for some time before a Kilgore policeman, responding to an anonymous call about a disturbance at the house, found their bodies Jan. 9 in a bedroom of the residence the two men shared. Investigators venture that one of the teenagers may have been the target of the killing and the other one died just because he happened to be in the house when his roommate was killed.
