http://www.brenhambanner.com/articles/2005...news/news02.txt Officials continue searching for missing Houston woman Tuesday, July 26, 2005 1:27 PM CDT Today is Jayne Davis' 37th birthday, but there won't be any party in her honor. Davis, from Houston, disappeared 12 years ago after telling her mother she was coming to Brenham to visit in-laws. Authorities say she hasn't been seen since. Texas Ranger Otto Hanik has kept the case open since Davis' disappearance. Each year, around Davis' birthday, he asks local media to publicize her case, hoping for a break that will unravel the mystery. "I'm just hoping that someday, we'll strike the right cord with somebody," Hanik said Monday. At this point, however, Hanik said authorities have "no clues whatsoever" in the case. Davis left behind a 2-year-old son when she disappeared. He's now 14, said Hanik. Authorities say they feel the Houston woman was a victim of foul play when she disappeared in 1993. Davis, 24 at the time of her disappearance, told her mother April 30, 1993 that she was going to Brenham to visit in-laws, but she would return to her Houston home a few days later. She didn't, and a missing persons report was filed with the Houston Police Department by her father. The case is still under investigation by the Houston Police Department, the Brenham Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers. Davis was about 5-6, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair at the time of her disappearance. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Washington County Crime Stoppers at 836-TIPS (836-8477), Houston Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS (222-8477) or the Missing Persons Clearinghouse at (800) 346-3243. All callers' identities are kept confidential; special code numbers are given to them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I got the following reply on this possible match: Thank you so much for your work. We really appreciate all of the help offerred. I reviewed the file and Ms. Winship's information and find that there are too many differences for the two to match up. Thank you again for all of your work. Nicole deL. I suggest now that the water levels are low in Texas, that someone check out the pond where Jayne was living at the time of her disappearance, and also at her husband for a suspect. How many mothers leave for a couple of days, to go see their in-laws, without taking their little children? Right. Jayne and her family deserve some justice... jewfriend |
