Police seek help identifying remains of woman Henry Pierson Curtis | Sentinel Staff Writer Posted December 22, 2006, 3:41 PM EST Composite of woman whose remains were found (ORLANDO POLICE) Dec 22, 2006 Bones, purple cloth and guesswork are all Orlando police are willing to release about the remains of a woman who died two to three years ago. "We don't know who she is," Detective Pat Schneider said Friday, seeking the public's help to identify her. The woman's remains were found in October in woods near the corner of John Young Parkway and W.D. Judge Road. The undeveloped land is frequented by transients staying in several homeless camps. She was white, 4-feet, ll-inchesnto 5-feet, 4-inches tall, average weight for her height, and between 35 and 55 years old, according to an examination by Dr. John Schultz, a consulting anthropologist with the Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner's Office. A drawing of the way the woman may have looked was created by Detective Stephen A. Fusco, a forensice artist at the Orange County Sheriff 's Office. Fusco uses skull reconstruction techniques to create composites from human remains. The woman may have been wearing a purple shirt or dress when she died. Police would not say how they thought she died. Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to call Crimeline at 4078-423-8477. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/orl-bk...-news-headlines |

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/...44.photogallery![]() Unidentified bodies found: Can you help identify these John and Jane Does? Eleven unidentified bodies have been found in Orlando in the past few decades. By Bianca Prieto, Orlando Sentinel Orlando detectives are working to identify 11 unidentified bodies found on city streets during the past few decades. These unclaimed, nameless men and women remain to be identified, years after their deaths. Police have tried to find out who these John and Jane Does are, but over time the cases have become cold. The Orlando cases represent only a small percentage of the total number of unidentified remains across the state. Florida has 572 unidentified bodies — 441 men and 131 women, according to the Doe Network, a volunteer organization that works to reunite families with missing or unidentified persons. Orlando police released sketches of 10 nameless victims in the hope that someone will recognize them and call the new tip line devoted to missing-person cases. Detectives are working to get a sketch in the remaining case, which dates from 1982. "Somewhere out there, there's a family who is missing a loved one," Detective Patrick Schneider said. "They deserve to know." Anyone with information can call the tip line at 407-246-2916. |
