Parts of Baby's Body Found in Garbage NEWARK, N.J. -- Authorities are searching for information about a baby's body parts found dumped along with a load of garbage by a New Jersey trash truck. Essex County Prosecutor Paula T. Dow said the remains were discovered at a Newark garbage transfer station early Monday morning. Police are trying to determine who the child was and are reviewing missing persons reports, said Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Essex County prosecutor's office. The medical examiner determined that the baby was a female, white, possibly Hispanic, and is no more than 6 months old. 1010 WINS AUDIO: Kathleen Maloney Reports Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Newark Police Department and the State Police Missing Persons Unit have been assigned to the case. Prosecutor Dow asked that if anyone has any information about a missing baby girl, to please contact Essex County Prosecutor Detective David Rubin at (973) 621-4586 or Newark Police Detective Pete Chirico at (973) 733-5401. http://1010wins.com/pages/149958.php?conte...ontentId=260883 Wed Dec 20, 2006 3:03 am Post subject: Baby's Body Parts Found at Garbage Transfer Station, NJ Reply with quote Body parts of baby found in Newark Found at a garbage transfer station Eyewitness News (Newark - WABC, December 19, 2006) - A horrible discovery was found in a trash pile: a baby's body found in pieces. Investigators admit that they're going to have a tough time trying to figure out who the child is. Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Pegues is in Newark with the story. It was business as usual on Tuesday night at the Newark garbage transfer station. On a daily basis, trucks deliver what is probably tons of trash to this facility. But on Monday, an employee made a disturbing discovery here mixed in with all of the trash -- baby body parts. "The medical examiner has determined that the baby was a female, white possibly Hispanic and no more than six months old," said Judy Gagliano, of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. But how did that baby end up here? Was she killed or did she die of natural causes and was she dumped? They are questions the prosecutor's office and police are now trying to answer. Even as they acknowledge the obstacles ahead. "I think it's very important [to have the public's help], because right now we're having difficulty identifying these remains," Gagliano said. "So we rely on the public to help us determine who this baby was." Complicating matters? The garbage here comes from several parts of northern New Jersey and New York City -- an area with hundreds of thousands of households and millions of people. The company that runs the transfer station says they are cooperating with the investigation and "we're saddened by what happened....we hope there is some resolution." Police say they are reviewing missing persons cases. The cause of death has not yet been determined. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=local&id=4864699 |

Ell Only after the last tree has been cut down; Only after the last fish has been caught; Only after the last river has been poisoned; Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten. | |
