http://www.coffscoastadvocate.com.au/story...nes-go-missing/ When loved ones go missing Craig Mctear | 5th August 2009 Print larger | smaller Some of the people who have gone missing on the Coffs Coast. Coffs Coast AdvocateTHEY'RE the faces of our disappeared - the sons and daughters, fathers and mothers reported missing in our region. The NSW Police Missing Person's Unit has supplied their details to the Advocate for National Missing Person's Week, which has the theme 'to not know is like living in darkness'. As many as 63 people have been reported missing to Coffs/Clarence police so far this year, with 66 missing people found locally. This compares with 2008 in its entirety when local police handled 97 missing persons cases and 95 people listed as missing were found here. With nearly 11,000 people reported missing to police in NSW each year, spare a thought for what their loved ones are going through. The stress of not knowing what has happened to someone can cause sleeplessness, affect work performance and lead to family tensions as each person deals with the disappearance in different ways, said Sarah Wayland, who co-ordinates the Families and Friends of Missing Persons Unit. Of the people reported missing to NSW police, almost 10 per cent have a dementia-related illness. If you have information on the following missing people, contact the Missing Person Unit toll-free on 1800 025 091 or your nearest police station.
