The Northern Rivers Echo Main News Has anyone seen Lucy? Lucy McDonald disappeared from Lismore 15 months ago. The morning of Tuesday April 30, 2002, started the same as any other for Joe Watts of Lismore Heights, who said goodbye to his wife, Lucy McDonald, and left for work. Sadly, that was the last time Mr Watts saw her. Lucy McDonald disappeared and has not be seen or heard from since. Lucy is one of the thousands of people who go missing each year and during Missing Persons Week, August 1-8, police are appealing for help to solve these mysteries. Lismore duty officer Noel Steele said police would welcome any information on what happened to 38-year-old Ms McDonald, who is 145cm (5ft) tall, of thin build, with medium complexion, of Aboriginal appearance with green/hazel eyes and shoulder length brown hair. Last year some 8500 people were reported missing across Australia. While around 99 per cent of the people who go missing in NSW are located, statistics alone do little to ease the pain of those who have lost a loved one and face unanswered questions. Duty officer Steele said police were also seeking information on Nimbin resident Bronwyn Winfield, who was last seen by relatives in May 1993. "Bronwyn would now be 41 years old and was described as being of thin build with blond or dyed hair and green/hazel eyes. Police believe she may have travelled to Queensland or could have remained in the Nimbin area," he said. As part of National Missing Persons Week, Police will again hold Operation Safe and Well, a special phone-in line to help locate missing people and put families at ease. "We urge people who have left home, particularly young people, to make contact with their families to reassure them that they're okay," duty officer Steele said. Phone 1800 025 091 toll free. Anyone has information that might help police find Lucy McDonald, Bronwyn Winfield or any other missing person they should also phone 1800 025 091. http://www.echonews.com/931/index.html |

John Burns, aged 79 years, was last seen by his wife on April 1, 2004 at their home in Tweed Heads. At the time of his disappearance John was in good health both physically and mentally. John has not contacted any family of friends since his disappearance, and despite extensive enquiries there has been no trace of him. John has grey hair and is of thin build. Lucy McDonald disappeared from her home in Lismore on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 and nothing has been heard of her since. She would now be aged 40 and is 145cm tall, of thin build, with medium complexion, of Aboriginal appearance with green/hazel eyes and shoulder length brown hair. Detectives re-investigate death of Lennox Head woman Bronwyn Joy Winfield May 22, 2009 Detectives attached to the Northern Region Unsolved Homicide Team are currently in the Richmond Local Area Command re-investigating the suspicious disappearance of a woman from Lennox Head in 1993. Bronwyn Joy Winfield, then aged 31, was last seen at her home on Sandstone Crescent at Lennox Head on the night of 16 May, 1993. Her estranged husband reported her missing to police on the 27 May 1993. Strike Force Chelmsbrook has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspicious disappearance. An inquiry in 1998 conducted at the time by police from Ballina into Bronwyn Winfield’s disappearance, led to a Coronial Inquest in May 2002, which found that she was in fact deceased. Detectives attached to the Northern Region Unsolved Homicide Team are now re-investigating the suspicious disappearance of Bronwyn Winfield and are in the process of interviewing people in the local area in relation to the incident. Anyone with information about this investigation, who had not yet spoken with police, is urged to contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
