Elbows against the boardwalk railing, Shepard leaned toward the ocean and inhaled deeply. The smell of salt was more than comforting to her, it was like being home for the first time in nearly a decade. For a moment her mind stopped whirring with uncertainty and fell into complete stillness.

She didn't think about being stuck in a strange place, worry about her crew, the coming of the reapers, or the daunting task ahead. For a moment, Shepard was simply able to be. Reverly Junction, despite the backwards technology and resemblance to a few of the old vids, felt almost like home, like being groundside on Earth.

The breeze stirred quietly through the the air and Shepard shivered. The temperature was fine until the breeze. A smile crept across her face as she thought of her first mission since becoming a Spectre. None of the crew had the right to complain about being cold again. Subzero temperatures, howling winds and blizzard conditions brought about a catch phrase among the Normandy: At least its not Noveria.

Shepard stared at the waves crashing agaist the wooden supports and wrapped her arms around herself. The standard issue military fatigues were dark blue with black straps running across the shoulder and horizontally across the back. Paired with short sleeves, they were completely useless against cool weather.

Maybe I should have listened to Mom and brought a sweater.

Another classic line from Alenko. For a moment her smile widened, but only for a moment. Her eyes shifted toward the town and the smile turned into a blank stare. Run down would be an understatement. The place looked utterly abandoned, though she knew at least a few people were residing there. The hotel was practically the only thing running and in buisiness.

Oh well, she thought. At least its not Noveria.

Lucivar Yaslana [ The Black Jewels Trilogy ]

Lucivar had been walking around, looking at all the strange things. They were very different from anything from his world. For one they had electricity which his world had none of. It was amazing what the electrically could do for a person however. Just about everything he could do with Craft the electricity could do as well. Craft was what he had heard others call magic, the power that was born in all Blood. Craft gave Lucivar the ability a person with out it could not do. Still it was interesting.

Lucivar was in his normal outfit of black pants and a vest. The cold did not seem to bother him. But then Craft let him use a warming spell to keep himself warm. (Much like having a blanket warmer for cloths.) He had his boots on. His thick black hair was down to his shoulders and while looking good did not get much attention, much like his looks, Lucivar was handsome and very good looking but unlike his bother, he did not work on it. The most notable fact of Lucivar however was his wings. He had two bat like wings coming out of his back much like an angel…if the angel where darker and well ok maybe not so much like a angel but for the wing placement.

Lucivar saw a woman looking out at the ocean. See seemed to be in a world of her own. He wondered if he should say something to her or just let her keep thinking. He choose the easy way. As he pasted he said hello, leaving it up to the woman if she wanted to say more than a quick hi.

Startled, Shepard jerked away from the railing and faced the man behind her. Immediately she was in awe. He looked perfectly human except for the beautiful giant wings protruding from his back.

"H-hi. Hello," she gave a small smile.

Questions began to run through her mind. Was she dead? Was this an angel? Or a dream? And if she was dead, would she see..no better not to think of that.

She inhaled deeply and introduced herself, "I'm Commander Shepard, Systems Alliance."

Lucivar laughed silently at her shock. No one ever seemed to go with out shock or just denial at seeing his wings. Well that was unless the other person was an Eyrien.

"Hello" Lucivar said with a friendly smile.

"I am Lucivar Yaslana."

Lucivar looked thoughtful for a second then said.

"I am Eyrien. A race that has wings when we are born."

"Eyrien? I'm not familiar with your race," she stated, furrowing her brow.

Shepard thought her knowledge of the galaxy's races was fairly complete, but she supposed a few could have slipped her studies.

Extending her hand, she continued, "Regardless, it's a pleasure to meet you Lucivar."
