James "Sawyer" Ford [ Lost ]

Surprisingly, Sawyer was the one pocket of quiet in the chaos. He could smell the harsh tang of leaking fuel, mixed with the ever present salty ocean smell. It was hard to take a final look around, what with his hair blowing in his face but he did anyways, allowing himself a final private goodbye to the people who had actually become the only friends he had ever really had. Sayid, Frank and Desmond were up front being technical, trying to think of some way to get to the freighter before they ran out of fuel, Hugo looking worried but staying quiet, Jack trying to deal with some situation he couldn't actually control and Kate... well he'd already told her what to do if he didn't make it. He leaned closer, giving her one last kiss before turning back to face the open water beneath them. If he survived the fall and if he could make it back to the island and if his weight made enough of a difference for the helicopter to make it and if they could land, refuel and get back to pick him up, he might still get off this island. Way too many ifs for his taste, but it wasn't really a choice. Everyone else deserved to get off the island. They had people back home, lives to return to, reasons to go back. He didn't have that excuse. He doubted they even knew what he was about to do. Giving the mirror bright water a final look he took a deep breath, and jumped. |

Better ask questions before you shoot Deceit and betrayals a bitter fruit Its hard to swallow come time to pay That taste on your tongue don't easily slip away Thy kingdom come, I'm gonna find my way Yeah, through this lonesome day | |
