Saturday 26 January 2041 10:30 PM Christ, this place packed out." Ada returned from her drink-retrieval mission and carefully set down a handful of shots on the table between them. She licked the spilled alcohol off her fingers before shrugging off her jacket and folding it over the back of her chair. It was by pure luck that they'd walked in just as a table in the back corner of the bar freed up; it was loud everywhere, but at least there they could hear each other without having to scream. Which was good, because they were overdue for girl talk- when she and Zoe had run into each other at a party the week before, Ada had drunkenly declared the following Saturday to be Twaturday. Charlie had understandably not been invited, but her guilt was short-lived when Elliott ended up asking for his help with a project that weekend anyway. She reached out to claim a shot of firewhiskey (which had lately become pretty widely available as a novelty item). "Cheers, then." She raised the glass to her friend, downed its contents, and slammed it back down on the table. Ada shivered, then leaned forward to rest on her elbows and smiled. "So whatever happened with the whole..." she bounced her eyebrows suggestively, trusting Zoe would pick up on what she was talking about without making her spell it out. Zoe took a shot. "Julian and Leona? Leona's cool- she's always cool. All the cool ones come out of Hufflepuff. Julian is not cool. He's a total spaz. All his newfound good looks do him no favors. I mean, they do him a ton of favors visually.... but he's probably going to have a heart attack at any moment due to awkwardness. Which is endearing on some people, but just really painful on him. "So he's over all the time due to big brother anxiety and because he thinks I'm going to get Leona killed- but I need her half of the rent, so, you know, I like her alive as well. "Long story short- he comes over, Leona is out, I try to get him to loosen up, Leona comes home as we are seriously only kissing- he bolts from the couch, babbles incoherent excuses no one cares about, then leaves. Us girls share a laugh, Leona tries to call him back but he won't pick up- leaves a congratulatory voicemail and Bob's your uncle. "Except now he wants to date me. And I feel like I've been pretty clear that that is not going to happen. We're just, you know, completely incompatible. And I told him those exact words. But he doesn't see the evidence of that or whatever, so now he's trying to win me over." Zoe's face showed nothing but complete disgust at the idea. "Which is awful. And Leona's no help- she just thinks it's a laugh. "So anyway, I'm thinking of getting a fake boyfriend to get him off my back. Or an actual boyfriend that's not him. I'm open to other suggestions, though. Or suggestions for boyfriend contenders; fake or actual," Zoe grinned. |

Ada grimaced sympathetically. "Sorry, unless you have a secret thing for stock boys or thirty-something revolutionaries, I've got nothing for you." She slid her second empty glass back and forth between her hands. "Question," she thought for a second, then added, "Sss. First, is he beautiful enough to suffer through the awkwardness? Second, and a potential third solution to your dilemma, does he have political ambitions? Because speaking as someone who's dating a member of the formerly painfully awkward, that can really change things." She grinned, obviously joking.

"I would shag him until next millennium; I just don't want to have to talk to him, because clearly he does not understand how human communication works. No political ambitions- he spends most of the time that he is around trying to convince Leona to mind her own business and just stay out of the revolution- another reason why he is not dateable. When he's not totally flustered about the possibility of us getting murdered by the government, he's nearly too overcome by my pseudo-fame to form coherent thoughts, anyway. "Quidditch stardom has been completely useless for getting laid. We're so close on the team it's like family, so that's too incestuous to consider, and men are apparently intimidated pansies around female athletes and would rather an autograph than a shag." She took another shot. "Bring on the stock boys!" |

Ada blushed in spite of herself; it didn't matter that she'd known Zoe forever, her blasé attitude towards sex was still a little embarrassing. She took her last shot to shake it off and laughed. "Well there is one guy, actually... You should see the way he handles the peaches," she teased, being maybe slightly more suggestive than usual on account of the alcohol. "Wait!" she exclaimed, smacking her hand down on the table. "Do you know who's really quite fit? And definitely do not mention this to Charlie because he would maybe actually, literally die- there's this bloke who works with him, Q. I don't actually know anything about him other than that he works for Elliott which means he must be alright. And that he is just... beautiful." |
