Saturday, February 27, 2038. 3:30 pm. Eoin called Jane before he could even think about why he hadn't called her sooner. She was very interesting to him. She was so different from anyone else he knew. Of course, she was also the only dragon specialist he knew...but that didn't really mean much, in the scheme of things. What mattered was that she was a girl and he was very broke. So broke. If there was one thing he knew about regular girls it was that he could not afford them. He hadn't called because he couldn't offer to do anything with her other than hang out at his flat and play video games. Which is actually what he was calling about right now. He was tired of playing by himself and he was actually very needy, socially speaking. If there weren't people around to talk to he was the kind of person who would start talking to inanimate objects instead. Given the choice, he preferred to get shot down by girls on the telephone than talk to his flatmate's kitschy Paris themed ashtray. So he dialled Jane's number, hoped she would pick up, and thought about what he might say in a voicemail if she didn't. |

Jane was lying on her sofa, watching The Quidditch Channel. Well, it wasn't technically called The Quidditch Channel, but that was the only thing Jane watched on it, actually, it was really the only thing she watched on the TV at all. It could be iffy about getting certain channels and most of the time could not decide if it was going to get both muggle and wizard broadcasting. Besides, Quidditch was really the only thing she wanted to watch. She hadn't grown up with a TV, so it wasn't a habit that had been formed when she was a kid. An advertisement for spello-tape came on and Jane's attention wavered. She was twirling her wand absentmindedly when she heard something from across her flat. She sat up, trying to locate and identify the noise. It took her a moment to realize that it was the high pitched ringing of her cellphone, the default ringtone she didn't know how to change. She summoned from her bedroom and stared at the screen for a couple seconds, trying to figure out who it was. The only numbers she had in her contact list were a couple nearby takeout restaurants and Briar's, and this wasn't any of them. She finally picked it up a moment before it would have gone to voicemail and said, "Hello?" as if not expecting anyone to answer. |

"Jane. It's Eoin. Question: Do witches play video games?" |

"Oh, Eoin. Hey." Right, she had given him her phone number. "Um... " She was rather taken by surprise by his question. "Video game?" She repeated blankly. "I have to admit that I have no idea what a video game is." |

"Bullshit," Eoin responded without thinking. Then he backtracked. "Not at all? I mean, you've got a mobile phone, right? Even phones have video games. Nevermind, what are you doing right now?" he didn't wait for an answer. "Stop doing it and come over here. I am going to teach you video games." |

She laughed at his accusation, about to tell him that she had barely managed to answer the phone, but he seemed to understand. "All right, what's your address, I'll be over in a minute." She said, laughing again at his insistence. |

"24 Gledstanes Road in Hammersmith. The green door," he answered her. "Do you mean literally one minute? Elliott told me about apparition." |

"Excellent." She'd already flicked her want at the television to turn it off, the Tornadoes were smashing the Magpies anyway. "Yeah, I'll just grab my coat and be at your door in about forty five seconds." |

He sat up quickly and quickly scanned his flat. Okay, clean enough. "Alright then. I'll see you downstairs," he told her, then hung up. He stood up, put his phone in his pocket, slipped on his shoes, and made his way down the stairs.
