General Board Rules

In Character Posting

  • Don't plaigiarize. You will likely be banned if you do.
  • Don't powerplay/godmod.
  • Keep in character and out of character separate.
  • Underage wizards/witches can't outspell or outdo adults or professors.
  • No minimum post length- write what feels right.
  • If your characters romance, keep it clean- don't turn it into a porno.
  • There shouldn't be any romance between professors and students.
  • You can swear, IC and OOC but keep it reasonable.
Out of Character Posting and Chatting

  • Don't flame. Flaming is the intention to hurt others.
  • Keep in character and out of character separate.
  • Don't admin hop searching for different answers.
  • If you have a problem with a decision made by an admin, please discuss it with them.
  • If you do not feel the admin addressed the situation adequately, please feel free to discuss the situation with a different admin.
  • You can swear, IC and OOC but keep it reasonable. And it better not be derogatory when it's OOC.
Avatars, Images and Signatures

  • Avatars can be no bigger than 150x200.
  • No graphics in signatures. The avatar should give us an idea what they look like so an overlarge graphic sig is not necessary.
  • Sigs can be up to seven (7) lines tall.
  • If you want to post personal pics, do so in the 'Introduce Yourself' forum. Its private and will protect your identity from guests.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Character Creation Rules

  • Full humans only, please.
  • No canon relations.
  • No special, extreme or rare abilities or traits.
  • No artifacts.
  • No non-natural traits.
  • No perfect characters. Everyone has faults.
You may see a few characters running amok with special artifacts or traits. These are awarded to loyal members who have made a formal request for traits/abilities. Sometimes special abilities are given as IC competition rewards.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magical Strengths/Weaknesses

Each character will have one strength and one weakness, chosen from the 4 areas of magic when applying. These 4 areas are: charms, potions, transfiguration and divination. This strength and weakness determine which spells/potions a character can or cannot do and how well they divine.

The strengths and weaknesses appear under your avatar, like so:

s:c | w:t

c = charms
t = transfiguration
d = divination
p = potions

s = strength
w = weakness

A student's strength grants them the magical abilities of one year ahead of their own, and their weakness deters their abilities by one year.

Adults who have left Hogwarts are not broken down by year, but rather simply by ability. In other words, all graduated adults are about on the same level, just with different abilities based upon their strengths and weaknesses.

Specific abilities associated with each level of magical proficiency are outlined in detail in the spellbook. Please refer to it and adhere to the abilities of your characters based upon their magical levels. Your characters can try spells above their levels but they will not likely have much success in it. But this can be fun roleplaying!

If you have any questions, feel free to pm an admin or ask in general ooc.
