This is purely in character and for fun. Think of it as a list of rules to break IC.

First Year Specific Rules
-- Students may not bring brooms to school unless playing on a quidditch team, at which time permission must be sought from the headmaster.
-- First years cannot attend Hogsmeade weekends. In recent years, the faculty of Hogwarts have allowed second years to go.

Uniforms
-- Students may only wear modest muggle clothing on weekends.
-- Formal, full uniform is to be worn to all classes.
-- Girls may not wear pants during classes.
-- Boys may not wear skirts.

Pets
-- You may bring a pet or two with you to school. Animals allowed in the school are currently cats, toads, mice/rats, owls, pygmy puffs, puffskeins and turtles. All others are considered against the rules and will be owled back to your home.

Forbidden Areas
-- Students are not permitted in the forbidden forest under any circumstances. Due to poor relations with the centaurs, teachers may not take students in there for detention anymore.
-- Boys are magically unable to enter a girl's dormitory. Girls, however, are considered more trustworthy and they can enter a boy's dorm, even if their intentions are bad.

Forbidden Items
-- Magically dark objects are not permitted. This includes books which may contain dark spells.
-- Students are not permitted to have alcohol or drugs in their possession while on campus. Nor can you consume this if you are underage if off campus.
-- Love potions, due to past complications from them, are forbidden.
-- Felix Felicis, luck potion, is strictly forbidden from campus. It is also illegal to use it during an exam, sporting events and elections.

Examinations
-- The Ministry of Magic supervises and conducts all OWL and NEWT exams. Cheating and examination aids are strictly forbidden.
-- For regular school exams, students are also strictly forbidden from using aids or cheating on the examination.

Curfews
-- First and second years are to be in their common rooms at 9:30pm and in bed by 10:30pm.
-- Third and fourth years are to be in their common rooms at 10:30pm and in bed by 11:30pm.
-- Fifth and sixth years are to be in their common rooms by 11:00pm and in bed by midnight.
-- Seventh years are to be in their common rooms by 11:30pm and in bed by 12:30am.
-- On Friday and Saturday nights, curfew is extended by one hour for everyone.
-- Once your curfew passes, it is expected that you remain in your dormitory unless it is an absolute emergency.
-- Prefects are expected to enforce curfews.

Classes
-- Respect your professors.
-- Full uniforms must be worn to class at all times. The full uniform is your informal uniform (shirt, sweater, pants/skirts, etc.) with your robes over top.
-- Come prepared and take notes.

The Library
-- Don't eat in the library.
-- Don't sleep in the library.
-- Try not to breathe on the books.
-- You must have a signed slip from a professor to gain access to the Restricted section.

The Hospital Wing
-- If you are in need of medical assistance, report to the hospital wing.
-- If you are unable to take yourself, please have someone else escort you.
-- If you are unconscious, hope that someone is kind enough to drag your limp body to the hospital.
-- If the nurse says you should stay overnight, don't argue with her. She'll probably make your medicine bitter.
-- If you are visiting a sick person, respect the rules set by the nurse.
-- If you are visiting, don't make a lot of noise.
-- If you are visiting, please take care not to catch what the person you're visiting has. The nurse is busy enough.

School Holidays
-- If students are remaining at school over the Holidays, please tell your House Head when he or she asks. Else, you can put your name on the list on the notice board. Not applicable for summer holidays.
-- Students are not permitted to perform magic on the holidays unless they are of age.

Other Rules
-- Don't fight.
-- Don't steal.
-- No magic in the corridors.
-- Apparating is not allowed, nor possible, on Hogwarts grounds.
-- No flying after dark.

Punishments
-- Lose House Points: This is the least that can happen to you. You'll probably become a loser because you lost everyone else's hard earned points.
-- Detention: Prefects and Professors can assign and carry out detentions. Detentions can include a wide range of things, including cleaning without magic.
-- Referral to House Head/Headmaster: If you find yourself here because you're in trouble, cower in fear. The headmaster has the power to expel you. It's time to start sucking up.
-- Letter Home: If we can't convince you to be good, maybe a lovely howler from your mum will.
-- Expulsion: Used as a last resort. Don't make us do it.
