Budget? Why not get Grados then? S60 or S80 since you like their sound. If not try the AKG k701. Or go even higher end

Grado is not really a "soundstage" headphone. Also, what is your budget? How will you be using it (portable?)? If it were for home use, and must cost below $300, the AD900 and A900 comes to mind. They can also be easily driven. |

I cannot imagine Grado having any form of soundstage, maybe except for the GS1000. Like aaron suggested, you can try some of the open headphones from Audio Technica. Or even AKG. |

IMHO, AKG headphones have one of the best soundstaging. Give them a try

Hmm... grados are forward sounding. soundstaging's width.. i dunno if I am right but they're kinda like the opposite ends of the spectrums in terms of headphones. But as mentioned above... sound staging's pretty much the 701. |

Not True. There are AKG models which have horrible soundstaging. There is only 1 headphone with the so-called 'best' soundstaging. There is no other and no comparison. The AKG K1000 Go buy it. Chris |

The ATH-AD2000 from Audio Technica has 1 of the most airy sensation, which means it has quite a wide soundstage. The Sound quality is also the best out of all the Audio Technica headphones IMHO. If you are to go for something with fantastic soundstage, try the Ultrasone. But for their mainstream models, their mids fails to impress me. Different people may have different views, so maybe you might like it. Like all said, YMMV. ***IMHO : In my humble opinion ***YMMV : Your mileage may vary |

I've not tried the AD2000, but my AD900 has fantastic soundstage. Definitely comparable to the 701. Actually, if soundstage width is so important to you, you might reconsider venturing into the headphone world. There is no way a headphone can reproduce that kind of soundstage of speaker systems. For one, the headphone drivers are too close to your head, so whatever soundstage is automatically narrowed because of the proximity. Although, one should note that even if you put your speakers far, far apart(eg 10m), that would only create an artificial soundstage. In that case, an orchestra may sound 30m wide, a solo guitar might sound 30m wide too. It is important to find the balance between soundstage and imaging. Chris |

The GS-1000 would fit your bill. Wide soundstage + Grado sound. Wthout considering budget of course. AT AD2000 is a not bad choice as it comes close to satisfying both requirements. I would not recommend the AKG K701 even though it has good soundstage as the sound is definitely not Grado like. Good luck in your search. |

i think AD900 sounds similar to grados, with better soundstaging... but less bass and clarity, details |
