Are there ways of removing it safetly , and will there be any sound changes after that ? |

I think someone did a mod on that over on headfi some time ago. You gotta go do a lil' digging there. The general opinion is against it though. If its supposed to be removable, they would've made replacement filters for them. |

The filters are meant to be serviced when they die of age. The sound should change. Most IEMs require filters, so the effects of the filters are taken into account when engineers tweak the sound into its final form. |

From i read from head fi,one side of the filter came off and the guy dig out the other side and he said the sound actually became better |

Okay, mine fell out of one side due to old age (and the thing simply rotted away...moisture perhaps) and I removed the other side as well (Warning, do not try this is as warranty may be null and void after this). The bass got tighter but perceptable quantity seems less(IMO). The treble seems to be a little better so the treble roll off that is the common criticism against the UM1 is somewhat alleviated, but on some tracks this can turn into shrill. Overall I won't say it'll yield a sound improvement, the sound is just ... well, different. |

Had it removed by myself now it sounds like Er6i . bass got lesser , treble and soundstage improved
