^ There should be some benefit right, however minimal. The amp adds some impedance so as to reduce hissing, if I am not wrong.

agree :)

which dap when using line-out wil bypass the "player headphone amp"? thanks B)

all players when using lineout, the sound signal will bypass the player internal headphone amp. Some players with lineout support will be ipod (except shuffle), Creative Zen Vision 'M, iAudio X5/L

using 30gb ipod video line-out, EQ settings on the ipod will still affect the SQ, does this means already bypassed the "internal headphone amp"? thanks

it still bypass the headphone amp of ipod. Adjusting of volume do not affect the volume of lineout

I tried using ck9 L size tips. But they don't fit as snugly as M. (They don't go deep enough so no isolation either.) M goes deep enough to form a seal but somehow can hear a lot of external noise. Bass not affected though.

I thought EQ is a sound chip processing doesn't need the internal amp so even if connected to external amp the EQ modifications follow through?

how about trying your E2 foam sleeve with ck9?

you are right to a certain extend. But according to scanfiend, a true lineout should not be affected by any eq or volume setting. the signal is only electrical current and plugging a earphone in will not hear anything. Not very sure of details. I'm sure there are someone who know it better than i do.

For e2 I used the soft flex which were decent but they got oily real fast. Hence they kept slipping out and caused the wax gaurd to degenrate very quickly. (Or maybe it's just the heat and oil and perspiration.) So yea don't think I'll go back to the e2 sleeves. :P

Looks like I'll have to read up on amping too. I knew I should have listened duing the lectures on electronics.

As for trying to totally block off external sound, I would not be too uptight over it. It's very very difficult to totally block off all external noise. I have customs with my UM2, and I can still hear external noise (though greatly muffled and reduced). That noise totally disappears when music is playing.

That's the whole point of IEM's. They allow you to enjoy your music at reasonable volumes by reducing the effect of external noise. The CK9 isolates very well indeed. As an illustration, I was in Orchard Road during the Chingay Procession - and let me tell you, the noise there was incredible! You get super loud music blaring from those monster speakers they set up along Orchard Road. I put on my CK9's and instant relief!

And i used CK9 during the IT Show. the only time where i can hear external noise is the time when i stand right infront of the loud speakers.

Hmm..Seems that I've not been inserting the ck9 properly. Now that it's all the way in and having a better seal, it sounds different. Damn. Regardless, it still sounds good though the sound stage seems to have narrowed. (Maybe due to the fact that I hadn't worn them all the way in so it sounded 'wider'.)

About your ck9 fit, if you manage to catch me at Jaben, i can show how to wear it to obtain a good fit. I found that i can't wear it the way AT shown in their promotion pictures where ck9 sit in my ears like um1.

you mean the earpiece has to be pushed forward, similar to UE wearing style?

Nop, just that can push all the way in like Shure style. But the ck9 seems to go further in. And you need to line the ck9 along your ear to ensure a good fit.

it something like a um1 and UE combination. But it very low profile that most might miss it from the front view.

I hope I got you right...do I insert it in such a way that there's a gap between my ear and the back of the earpiece?
