it means to break in your earphones.

just like wearing a leather shoe, it might not feel so comfy at first then as you use it more and more it breaks in, softens up.

same logic.

use your earphones more and it will sound better as the hours go by.

P.S. please don't abuse your earphones :)

Burn in is a rather controversial subject. It's best to trust your own ears, and see for yourself if you can detect any differences in the headphone rather than blindly letting it run (this is but my personal opinion).

I personally believe in burn in, having experienced it with both the HQ1700 (less boomy, though still boomy after burn-in) and the K601 (increased bass quantity and "tightness", and smoother mids).

The most important thing would be to trust your ears.

Let's just say it works like "seasoning" a brand new pair of jeans, just apply that exact same theory on headphones.

Some say it works but others disagree, try it out yourself and than judge whether it works for you. :D

the idea is the same as what genocide has mentioned above. Its just to season it such as allowing the cables to run in. :D

haha you want proof of burn in, the simplest way i can think of, get a pair of raw 5EBs and a pair of 5EBs that have 150 hours through them.

the difference is so huge!! :P heh heh heh, never trust the pair at uncle wilson's shop, it hasnt showed its true colours YET :D

Burn in is real. Period. :P

Seriously though, I find it rather interesting that a headphone can change so much in such a short time. I take back my words about the MylarOne being too distant. That's only for the test set I heard over at Jaben. The "burnt" in set which is owned by my friend seems really smooth and not as distant as compared to the "fresh" MylarOnes.
