over the ears method and spectacles; increased microphonics?

i was testing out zonalblitz's 5eb again yesterday at jaben(thanks for the audition) when i discovered something.
even though his memory wires didnt suit me perfectly, there was an issue with microphonics when my spectacles rubbed against the wire.

anyone else has this problem? i had interferences quite a number of times for the short while i was auditioning.

regards

The main cause of my micro phonics when i tried out a er-4s was from the shirt rubbing and not the the specs. So fall all the canal phones I used (hje-50, ck-7, tc-20) all don't suffer from this problem.

i mean, the method of wearing the IEM like the UM1 and shures, over your ear where it WILL come into contact with your spectacles.

anyone had this problem?

ah yes, windblowing and the rubbing of the wires constitutes much of the the problem. but this issue with spectacles is new to me.

i do experience them with my super-fi3.. what i will do.. (considered as noob) is to actually hook the wires between my head and spectacles instead of the usual way..

any comments or 'do-nots' about this method???

Hi mrhobbit,

Come to me again after you purchase your Super.fi 5 EB. I will teach you how to adjust the memory wire to suit your ear. ;)

come to think of it, can it be that zonalblitz's pair of wires didnt suit me well, therefore resulting in the interferences?

gotta get my own pair!!! too bad it will not be in stock till wednesday!

I doubt there would be a problem. I personally haven't experienced any problem of microphonics when using the UM1 behind the ear while having spectacles on. However, you should take note that the UM1 has no memory wire, as compared to the Super fi. 5EB.

I think it has nothing to do with memory wires. I think it is only logical to compare the thickness of the cable.

Anyway, please check the definition of microphonics again. :)
