Also consider the E2C for your particular preference of music (and within the same budget range) You can get used E2Cs dirt cheap nowadays as many people are unloading them to upgrade. |

Beyer Dynamic DTX50 > Westone UM1 > Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3 This is the scenario for your case of music likings. I must say the DTX50 is a very enjoyable and decent entry level IEM for bassheads to enjoy their music. The Westone UM1 maybe not be able to satisfy you as much and worst the Ultimate Ear's Super.Fi 3. There is no harm trying the Shure e2c but they are rather expensive for the quality you pay. I would also recommend Mylar-One and Ultimate Ears Metro.Fi 2. |

Thats just a suggestion. But don't let my taste bother you. Do get down to the Headphone Shops especially Jaben Network(because it has all the earphones mentioned here and trying out is allowed) and try them out. By doing so, you will be satisfied with your own decision. |

personal preference defers from person to person. Who knows, you might like them, so don't discount them based on other's preferences. In the same vein, don't discount the other models as well. Best to try them all. Although, I do have a word of advice for you (and I'm being sincere and not elitist). Buying an expensive pair of IEMs is quite a waste considering the genre that you like. Most of this music would be overly-compressed and would sound harsh coming out of accurate equipment. In truth, its more enjoyable to use less revealing equipment when you want to listen to this kind music, as it was recorded to sound better on radio than in high-quality systems. You might find the music sounds better over cheap earphones rather than expensive IEMs. Chris |

of the 2 you listed, i tried the Um1 and the DTx50 your music genres are literally the same as mine, i couldnt hear flea's bass on the UM1 to be honest, or maybe it just wasn't prominent enough for me. the DTX50 is great for bass, its strong, tight, and it SLAMS. it totally blew the UM1 away In terms of bass ,clarity wise, they are kinda equal in my opinion. while you are at this, do try out the Mylar ones as well, they cost half the price of the DTX50, and are nearly equal, however it just doesnt have the slam that i wanted. now that ahdui has recommended something new, i should go and have a listen metro fi.2 sounds interesting. but the final thing is, go down to jaben, and have a listen

err.. I think the equation signs are in the wrong direction (or are they supposed to be arrow signs?) DTX50 >(greater than) UM1 >(greater than) SF3 or issit DTX50 <-- UM1 <-- SF3 E2C is definitely not worth buying brand new in Singapore. Blame the distributor (they won't even give me a discount on the E4C review model) for fixing the price. However, the E2C is actually very competitively priced elsewhere. Chris |

yongchris: I was meaning ">" (Greater than) Its my mistake, sorry lol. I must say the Metro.Fi and the Shure e2c fairs pretty similar. |

Sorry I can't share on DTX50 as I haven't tried before. For me, SF3 is more lively with emphasised ends in the frequency, hence has more pronounced (and arguably) better bass and treble. UM1 is mellower, which will perhaps then reach out to the music purists. Edit: I have tonnes of RHCP tracks on my source too and I thoroughly enjoy them through the SF3. When you compare side by side, do so with just one particular favourite music track.

I feel that the UM1 is more suitable for vocals ,brass instruments and acoustic guitars, not so much for rock e.g. elect guitar with distortion |
