Has anyone of you tried playing music from your computer and realised that no sound comes out of the headphone? Well, I have and I bet many of you have had this horrible experience before!

What happened was like this.....Well, I put on my cans and set the volume right, and played the music.... 5 seconds later, still there wasn't any sound coming out from the headphones! I panicked and opened up the soundcard control panel program and made sure ASIO was selected in foobar and that WAVE and PLAY CONTROL were set correctly. Then I proceded to restart my audio player and still things didn't work!

So I went to restart my computer and still there was no sound :bash: Finally, I stood up and went to the back of my computer and i realised.......

Lol! That's worse because for me, once i plug things in, it'll be the last thing I'll check if an error pops out....

I had experiences doing sound-check on wireless microphones without their batteries. :P

LOL!!!!!! I remembered one of the worse was that I had my iPod and was listening to my music. Paused it and then took my friend's iPod to see his songs. I saw one song in his iPod that i really liked and pressed play....Waited and waited and there still wasn't any sound from it. Then i realised, that I forgot to unplug my headphones from my iPod and into his iPod.... :smack:

I think the amplification for burn-in thing might actually help. For more current drawn during the burn-in process?

I don't know how to present the concept but I think you might just guessed it. :)

i am still waiting for your definitive review on burn-in, and while you are at it you might as well create the wikipedia article too.

Uh guys, can we please chill it?

Jenhwa, while I do not condone yongchris's little snide remark(which was obviously directed at you), there was a simple flaw in your logic of "burning in".

Let me attempt to put things in perspective:
1) You said your new headphones improved upon usage.
2) You said after adding an amp into the chain, the headphones improved even further.

The fundamental flaw is that almost anything you put into the chain would certainly improve the sound because the pair of headphones would very probably still be in a state of "burning in". ie, the improvements are due to the extended usage of the headphones but not to do with the amp.

If you supported the above claim with a pair of "well burned in" set of headphones being used in the experiment, and judged the SQ by going back to the original rig without the amp, then you might still have an arguable case.

I wouldn't say I'm well versed in this "burning in" process, but it is about the most age old argument in audio history(beside interconnects) and it will really do us no good if this carries on.

And yongchris, I do believe you misquoted him because I did not get the impression that he meant this from reading his previous posts,

"burn in occurs only(???) when your headphones are amped"

unless of course if you were not directing this at him, then its all just a misunderstanding.

No more personal attacks, please...

"burn in occurs only when your headphones are amped"

I do not know whats all this big hoohaa about breaking in cans, but this is theorectically true isnt it? I mean all mp3 players, PCDP, CDP, etc all got an internal amp dont they? Is it possible to play anything at all without one?

my bad for the misquote..
It should've been
"the burn-in only begins when the cans are amped"

"begins", not "occurs"... sorry bout that.
