HI GUY! Long time never post question because unable to login. I don't know who to ask why I can't login because I can't login to message you people. Back to Topic. My SF5P cable turn green only the part at the loop over the ear there. The green stuff look to be inside the cable not outside. At first I though it was the swear and the oil at my ear causes this but if really cause it, it should be turn to yellowish and should not be inside. I will say this because the part of the spectacle that was lying on our nose turn yellowish too. Anyone know what cause my SP5P cable change color? |

Your clear cable has oxidised. I had the same problem, but not only after 7 months of use.
Some of the users had this problem 1 - 2 months immediately after purchase. I used them on the usual basis too. Anyway, time for a change to a Black or White cable.

aux!

It is caused by oxidation of the cables. Probably due to the sweat/oil and moist that when in. |

I see. Will this causes affect the quality of the sound if I continue to use it? When you ask me to to get a black or white cable what's come in my mind straight is that black and white cable won't have this problem? The mostly important question....... the cable cost how much?

Please consult Uncle Wilson @ Jaben for price and availability of the cables. These cables will oxidise after use. But the problem with opaque cables is that they can still retain its condition even after the wires have oxidised. Whether or not it affects the sound quality, I find it rather hard to tell myself. |

I think this is a common problem with the clear cables, you get to see the cables turn green. I don't think the will be an effect on the sound. If you are really bothered by it, then change it to the black ones, of course that costs $$$. I think the Shure E5cs have the same problems too. |

Is it normal to have cables oxidised so soon? Thought they would last at least much longer. |

It really depends on usage and handling. Some people sweat more(sometimes even unaware themselves), and some peoples homes just happen to be more humid than others...I remember reading somewhere that you should not attempt to remove the cable on driver side as it would expose it to the air. At the end of the day, whats important is that no one has EVER reported, anywhere in the world that the oxidation causes SQ degration, so unless you are worried about the aesthetics, there is no cause for any alarm ...And yes, please refrain to post prices here. |

Mine is still clear. My only complain is that thee cable is too stiff and tend to coil by itself. [Moderator Edit: Post was editted for language. Thank You!] |

I had the problem too. Does the black and white cables have such problem? When I coil the cable a few rounds, the few rounds will stay there. [Moderator Edit: Post was editted for language. Thank You!] |

From my experience, the opaque cables seemed easier to manage with. Just a tip for cables : The cable needs to 'breathe'. Allow it to air in a cool dry place. The oil in the cables will surface if the cable is kept airtight (with or without silica gel) after a long period of time. After a prolonged period of time, your cable insulation will break down over time. |
