Hello all, have a question to ask. When i listen to songs on my mp3 player, i always notice that there will be crackling sounds which can be really irritating, happens to most tracks i play.. but not all though. May i know what causes the crackling sounds? Sorry newbie here :ph43r: |

Process of isolation: 1. Change to another headphone and see if the problem persists 2. Try to play those same tracks on another player, or on your PC and see if the crackling sounds appear. Chances are either your headphone or headphone jack on your player is the culprit. Crackling sounds can occur if the contact points of your headphone jack become loose or dirty. |

Perhaps it might be helpful if you were to supply details about the equipment you use. I have read before that some players will exhibit crackling when changing tracks, for example. |

Could it be Eq related? I used to get those sounds when I over-EQed my DAP. Some presets also have that effect. Now enlightened by head-fi and going EQless. Flat is best, baby! |

Hmm i don't think my player has any EQ settings though.. and i never fiddle much with them too. Another thing is that my LMX630's silver paint is peeling off 1mth++ after i bought it I also just tried to use a cottonbud to clean the innards of the earphone jack, and its indeed dirty.. |

Have you tried playing your mp3's on another source? I noticed that my newly ripped tracks crackled too. It turned out to be the encoder that was not set up properly. I also noted that the jack on my LDM+ is a bit wonky making the sound crackle sometimes due to faulty contact. |

Haha Singapura, this is a rather old thread you dug out. Since we haven't heard from smellybeans for such a long time, I guess he has already solved the problem. By the way, I owe you a BIG WELCOME!!! Hope you enjoy your stay here. |
