Westone ES2: (2 Drivers) A controlled/tamed version of the Westone UM2. Probably the custom which can provide you the best bass which slams wide yet tamed. As usual the ES2 has a very forwarding mids but not as overwhelming as the UM2. The ES2 has also solved the infamous problem which um2 gives, which is treble roll off. The highs are all out and obvious but it is not very extensive compared to other customs. Probably the best Custom IEM for Pop/Rock and etc because the PRaT is the best(Just nice). Comes in a solid yet a little "rubbery" type of moulding with inter-changeable braided cables. Nice fitting and seal. Performance: 8.9/10 Pricing: 9.5/10 Quality: 9.2/10 Overall: 9/10 Sensaphonics ProPhonic 2X-S: (2 Drivers) My personal favourite and probably the custom for Etymotic lovers. A very fast IEM which pushes all the details to you. PRaT loses out to ES2(very fast pace, might cause a little fatigue-ness). It has the highs which is rather similar to the etymotic er4p which is very sparkling and crispy yet not fatiguing. The mids is not too forwarding and was never laid back, however it has a signature of the mids being "striking". The bass doesn't slams and splashes wide but it hits hard and deep(very extensive too), definitely the type of bass i am looking for. A "neutral" sounding IEM which will sound decent for almost all kinds of songs except those which is more complex(heavy metal and etc). Made with Soft silicone material and now comes with new cables which is thicker and more flexible(old cables feels weak but the part after the Y-cord is braided). Soft silicone is the weakness of this custom because i think it is the softness of the mould that causes all the drivers problem after 1.5-2yrs of usage. Performace: 9.8/10 Pricing: 6/10 Quality: 6/10 Overall Rating: 8/10 Ultimate Ears UE10Pro: (3 Drivers with 2 active crossovers) Known as the final destination for IEMs. It produces a very neutral sound but with very extensive highs and lows. The highs are not striking nor too bright but very extensive and natural. The lows slams in deep(very extensive) and punches wide yet in a very tamed manner(Fantastic). The mids is like just nice, very natural sounding. This IEM is very accurate. Made of hella solid acrylic plastic moulding, definitely very lasting and good. The hardness is the cause for it to require a very good fitting to get the sound. Inter-changeable braided cables. Performance: 9/10 Pricing: 4/10 Quality: 9.5/10 Overall Rating: 8/10 ** PRaT = Pace Rhythm and Timing. |

No, but he is blessed to have a straight and rather big ear canal, so he can squeeze other peoples custom into his ear and get a decent seal.
And yes I love the Sensaphonics as well. Hehehehe

It's time for a ear canal upgrade for me. The idea is to make all universal IEMs into customs, because my new canal would be cylindrical.
Seriously though, Ahdui has the special gift of the ideal IEM ear. Wow. Now the only top of the line needed is the ACS T2i. |

ACS is actually the softer version of the 2X-S. additional info for you guys, my canals hurt badly while im trying the UE10pro. will update my ue10pro's impression after i try it on the "walking ATM's" UE10pro LOL. The awful pain is the reason i cant give it a very proper critical listening. |

So between the ES2 and the UE10Pro, the UE10Pro is more true to the recording of the music? What are the sonic differences between the UE10Pro and the Shure E500? |

Yes, UE10pro is very very true to the recording of the music and projects all the flaws if the recording or quality is lousy.
But the es2 will sound more musical and fun.hmm how can i say, the ue10pro is far too different from e500. 1 very simple explanation, the e500 feels narrow compared to the ue10pro in every aspect. The ue10pro is very transparent. |

So is it safe to say that the ES2 are somewhat as detailed as the Shure E4 with the bass impact and depth from the UM2? |

es2 is a very detailed um2 with a more controlled bass and mids. Not forgetting the highs are all out and the bass goes deeper. |

Update on UE10pro..finally get to audition it for real. Special thanks to ryner for letting me to be the first 1 to clock 5mins with the ue10pro. ----------------------------------- Ultimate Ears UE10Pro: (3 Drivers with 2 active crossovers) Known as the final destination for IEMs. My impression of it is like.."wow this holy sounds like closed cans!" Definitely the way to go, a 100% satisfaction guaranteed product. The mids is warm and it gives you a right-at-your-face sensation. Highs was natural and sweet, not as "crispy" as the ety er4 or the Sensaphonics 2X-S but fantastic(everything is there). The bass is nicely spread out and there is no sign of bloatness in the bass. Fantastic all rounder IEM to be targetted. Made of hella solid acrylic plastic moulding, definitely very lasting and good. The hardness is the cause for it to require a very good fitting to get the sound. Inter-changeable braided cables. Performance: 9/10 Pricing: 6/10 Quality: 9.5/10 Overall Rating: 8.9/10 |

Tried this out yesterday too as I have a more universal ear canal than ahdui. Unfortunately the stalks do not go as deep as compared to my earmolds so I could not get much isolation, but it did sound really good for the brief moment I listened to it. Easy to fit into the ear, but not easy to get them out. |
