It needs to be driven by a good amp for optimin listening pleasure.
I think Scanfiend found a good synergy in one of his desktop amplifiers. Maybe he should share the experience with the rest in the later part of the thread. |

Indeed, I actually owned the HD590 for a number of years, and was on the verge of selling it off.
I have tried a variety of amps - mostly solid state, and I could never get satisfactory sound out of them. Tthere seems to be a "veil" over the sound, the highs lacked sparkle, the mids were non-existent, and the bass was muddy. Then I tried the Little Country tube amp. Wow! is just about all I can say The sound is spacious and airy. The trebles sparkled. The mids were liquid smooth, mellow and warm. Bass response was tight and punchy. Beautiful for female vocals.Needless to say, I'm not selling the HD590
