I suppose if you want to do a proper photo review, you should try to use more than a handphone camera? Nevertheless, I thank you for the effort for I have never seen these(picture and in actual) before. You can try to be more creative with the shots too ;)... |

Don't mind all these ribbing, Theory bro! @yongchris: I have a pair of these babies, and believe you me, they sound nothing like the Auvana! Great mids and nice treble extension and clarity. Bass was a little weak when connected to a Nano 2G, but no complaints when piped from a Creative Vision:M. Comfortable to wear too. A review will be coming soon

Nope. They sound better than sf5pro. Even my dad a sf5pro user said so. Modded to use with UE biflange, the sound stage opens up by alot. Even more than sf5pro imo. There is more details, treble is more pronounce but the bass suffer alittle... i use my rockbox eq to bring them back. I like it better than my iM716.
sorry... my lousy digicam C450 macro focus length start from 20cm so i resort to using my imobile 902... but i have not gotten the setting right. i will repost with better pics when i'm free. [Moderator Edit : Post merged. Please make single posts] |

My friend, The soundstage do not open up with the use of a biflange. Soundstaging might be affected with the use of Interconnect and Amplifier given from the same source. The Biflange will pllace the driver unit further away from your ear canal which made the sound 'distant' away from you. Soundstage is usually refered to as the 'width and panorama dimensions of stage' and the 'penetration of sound image'. |

scanfield & fongalv: I get the point. anyway, I tried out the CK9 for 15mins at J. It definitely sounds brighter than the UM1. (UM1 w/ biflanges, CK9 with the stock? black sleeves) too many people there, else I'd have spent more time with the CK9. |

hiya Q00, i'll prob head down to J again...during offpeak hours preferably. There were simply too many people there when i first tried out the CK9. I didn't get to try out other tips, only the ones (small or medium???) that were alr fitted onto it. The CK9 felt pretty loose in my ears. Poor fit? IMO, pretty good in terms of clarity and for IEM newbies, but probably not worth the price premium of upgrading from UM1. The CK9 looks pretty though, and country of origin is Japan. btw, my source is a Sony "Core" DAP. and i like this emoticon

ok i had a quick initial impression of this earphones at jaben as my last phones i was listening to after listening to the sf5 eb/sf5 pro/im716...around 20-30mins per phone. -source was 1st gen shuffle with high quality cd/vinyl rips (at 270kbps) of drum and bass and some vocal tracks as well. -tested as both unamped and amped with the xtra x-1 amp with the stock ic that comes with the amp. -used the stock black sleeves so fit was an issue but i managed to get a sufficient fit after struggling abit sonically, this has got to be one of the most impressive IEMs i have heard so far. i think that this is better than the sf5 pro (which i hold in high regard) because there is just so much detail in the sound. with this iem i could actually tell the limits of my recordings. this is a brighter iem than the um1/2 and sf5pro/eb and im716 with a relatively flat eq from what i could tell. it was not sibilant with female vocals which is good. unamped these guys are big on details and perhaps could even be described as analytical. soundstage feels bigger with the instruments being placed around you as if you were in the front row seat. on a double bass, i could almost feel the texture of the the strings from the plucking by the fingers and i could also hear and feel the vibrations of the notes with so much detail that i never heard before. on other recordings, i could clearly tell if a beat was synthesized or sampled from a live instrument, this was not very apparent on the other earphones. the bass was very textured and i felt like this went fast and punchy and well controlled not like the um1/2 and sf5 eb which felt a little flabby and muddy in some instances but what was surprising was that these went deep as well and perhaps as deep as the sf5 eb. i was hearing or feeling some really low notes that i had not noticed before. amped more or less the same except for a slightly more forward sound and the bass was more pronounced and had abit more kick to it. i wonder how these would sound with a tomahawk or a hornet/ hornet-m....hmmm... no time to test with other amps sadly... /end of mini first impression i think that these are fantastic for the price u pay for them and cheaper than the sf5 pro as well. its a big winner in my books. i only have a 2 other iems i would like to compare them to, the triple fi.10 and the e500 to see which iem would finally be my next upgrade and suit my taste for fast, deep and punchy bass along with a relatively neutral or flat eq sound. |

i tried ah dui's E500 today. wasn't too impress by it although close to the ideal sound i'm looking for. The bass just nice and controlled, mid is a little lay back (i prefer forward sound), treble could extend a little more and details not quite there yet (Er4 have still more details). But base on market price, it not worth the price unless i got spare cash. Now waiting to try TF10p |

FYI, the Shure e500 is carrying the sound signature of Shure and not the thick forwarding mids of um2 and e5c. having a laid back mids compared to um2 is the e500's plus point to itself. so dont use your own personal preference and judge it. many often treat it as tho they fail to make it forwarding like the e5c/um2 and misjudge the e500. |

Some ppl like them, some ppl jus hates them.. but we can never deny the fact tat its much easier to audition a pair of SFi5pro & UM2 as compared to E500.. therefore it is easy to pass judgement based on preferences on the later than the E500.. Which is pretty unfair to E500, becos some of urs might just assume how E500 might sound like base on reviews and heard-how from ppl.. With all said. I have auditioned the E500. Yes, the mids and the highs are laid back as compared to UM2, and the fact that they do not have the powerful bass which UM2 does. But wat i like abt E500 is the fact that they have their treble and bass sublimely parralleled.. its more balanced and controlled IMO.. too bad im more attracted to UM2's bass and i dont have deep pockets to get both, i might as well settle for one and be happy abt it.. maybe we could set another topic on "Shure E500" itself.. Sorry for the vast OT on my part.. |
