My jack of my HD-280 pro has decolourized( no idea how that happened) and i think its starting to affect the connectivity( having sound coming out only from a certain side). So i looking for replacement. anyone has any ideas?

Before replacing, check wether the decolouration is caused by oxidation. Simply clean it with organic solvents (zippo fluid and such). An easy way to check is to twist the jack and see if there is a "sweet spot" where both sides of the headphones are working. If the twisting have no effect on the silent side (no static and such), then there might be a break in the cable. Either that or your driver is spoilt.

You might as well recable your entire headphone if the jack is spoilt. Choose the cable wisely though, it will most probably affect the sound quite significantly.
Wait, What?

May I ask if the 1 sided headphone cable is detachable? (I couldn't remember clearly on this model) Thanks!

will cleaning it with an organic solvent remove the problem of a single sweet spot?

This is the model
HD 280 - Pro

If i were to re-cable the headphone, what would the rough cost be? or if i was just changing the jack, which brand would your recommend?
Thanks!

The HD 280 Pro has spare part for the connecting cable. Check out the local Sennheiser Headquaters for the spare cable.

You will have to open up the left cup to remove the connecting cable for a new piece.

If you are using this headphone for monitoring purpose, I suggest you use the same connecting cable from Sennheiser. However if your application is for music playback, you might just want to have a little fun with it recabling.

Do note that recabling will alter the headphone's sound signature. The problem of recabling the headphone is a risk to take especially when you do not know the sound signature of the headphone with new cable.

Anyway, cleaning the jack with solvent will only remove the oxidation on the jack. If I remembered correctly, the HD 280 Pro monitors are gold plated and is not prone to such oxidation.

You might also want to confirm again if the jack problems occur directly from the Headphone jack or the source.
