OK here is the first impression(testing in shop): -Bass is a abit weaker compare to the AKGK26P -Comfy wise was miles away from the AKGK26P i feel very comfy with this head phones -seem alittle more difficult to drive compared to the AKGK26P i need my amp postion to be at 1/2 compared to AKGK26P only need 1/4 eunff -Very much bigger compare to the tiny AKGK26P Brought it home(using it on the way home) -It is really Really win AKGK26P in comfort it so much more comfy 12 hrs of burn in+more impressions -Bass has tighten up but it still weaker compare to AKGK26P -But what you get back is a wider sound stage, take S.H.E <<Bu Xiang zhang da >> for example the cymbals have become clear. about 1 week later: -Bass cont to improve but lacks punch -I must state again they are so much more comfy to wear compare to AKGK26P

Give this kid a break.. It doesn't sound that bad for the price.. it is actually quite good, for a phone that costs below $100 and is circumaural as well.. I found that the treble was okay, not too piercing but yet not refined.. however what was the lacking point in this pair is the bass section.. it wasn't as tight as I wanted it to be.. not boomy, but 'booomzzt', and that's it. Nice review, speedknight, glad to see that you posted. If not.. Nice and comprehensive with picture slotted in as well! Can we have a clearer pic? |

My apologies to speedknight. It was a fine review. I did not mean to sound harsh. I actually did not know they cost less than $100. My first impression is never of a product's price, but how the product performs. price is secondary. ahdui, I'm not obsessed with my um2. Actually the opposite is true, I prefer full sized cans. the Um2s are a means to an end... meaning from my home to my office If anything, I simply love my k240s. I have the 600ohm anniversary edition. Been meaning to find a good amp to partner it, but just don't have the time. |

yeap, its my on-the-run IEM too. at home i would rather spend my time with my MS2 and k501. IEMs afterall cant give the feel i need in cans. but IEMs are still very very fantastic on-the-run or outdoors as usually i need the isolation and dont wished to be disturbed. |

Klose: Haiyoh, direct treble region comparisons to the MS2i? Price class also plays a role :ph43r: |

This month's issue of HWZ has a review of this headphone. The reviewer seemed to like it enough - "value for money" is the consensus
Anyway, I'll post a scan of this review at the appropriate time

Thanks to Klose, I had a chance to listen to this headphone for a bit this evening. Fit and finishing is quite nice. The actual phone looked quite a bit smaller than what the photos show. It has quite a retro look which I found strangely appealing, sort of like the type of headphones a pilot might wear. I ran it off my Portaphile and the Mamba IC. Bass was tight, but did not really go deep enough. The highs were a little grainy, but not too bad. The major sticking point was the recessed mids. Vocals lacked warmth and overall, the sound signature sounded hollow. Like Klose said, it suited certain categories of music better. For the price, the sound is fair. I've heard worse from higher priced, fancy phones Isolation is good when music is playing. Coupled with its small size and light weight, it makes a good alternative to IEM's and canalphones for on-the-go music listening. |

I tried it once back at SE, didn't quite like how it sound, also, hurts quite a bit for me on the ears as the clamps were tight. Any idea what's the price for these again? I mostly compare it to AKG81DJ or other Sennheiser portable headphones. Closed, portable cans, how will these HTX-7 perform as a contender? |

It's sub-$90. Hmm.. I would say that the AKG K81 DJ would have more bass but it would be uncomfortable on the ears.. and well, maybe it would look more "cool" (this is subjective, as I prefer the opposite) if you go out with the AKG model instead of the Panny model. As I've said before, the Panasonic HTX-7 is a really decent can for those who want supra-aural comfort + closed cans + retro look + less bass than the AKG K81. It has nice, but not very high treble extension, and vocals are dry and well, just normal.. (I believe it's the midrange though, although I didn't find it as bad as what scanfiend described). This pair of headphones have not quite a good standard at soundstage imaging as well, as to me some of the instruments are jumbled up, so it may not be suitable for classical as well. This sounds good on electronic music, techno, pop and maybe some rap as well. Not my can, but it may suit you.

If this phone clamp your head that tight, don't you feel AKG81DJ the same? As from what I can recalled, AKG81DJ is like a clamp too. |

It depends on the genres of music you listen to. Like I mentioned earlier, if vocals and classical tunes are in your list; give it a miss. |
