Silver coated cable? I don't really understand what you mean by that, though I personally don't think that the silver plating on the connection jack will make much difference. It's more of what the cable/wire itself is made of than the plating.

normal cable is copper one and sliver coated meaning the copper is cover with sliver. something like that.. does this affect the sound?

Hi Larry,

The Ultimate Ears has took a step further from their first generation, to change their cables to the Silver-plated Copper cables which is also known as the Lite 2 cables.

The previous cables were made from Oxygen-free Copper, also known as Lite 1 cables.

Personally, I have not got an opportunity (in fact, time) to try on the Lite 1 cables. But I believe adding Silver element into the cable will improve on the "speed" of sound, on another hand enhance the dynamics of their sound signature.

On the case of some headphones paired with Oxygen-free Copper interconnects, became little boomy/muddy in the bass section and the mids and highs were not highlighted in the sound spectrum.

Silver has better conductivity than Copper in nature. Higher conductivity metals will also offer higher corrosion resistance.

Lite 2 Cables are telfon wrapped on the entire cable, whereas Lite 1 cables are wrapped at the memory wires only.

You are using the Lite 2 cables. =)

Hiya zonalblitz, were you at the shop just now when i bought the sf3 studio? Sorry i didnt introduced myself :( as I was kinda in a rush. Treat you kopi next time.

How come your so sure that mine is the Lite 2 cables? Is the Lite 1 cable phased out already? or Jaben only carry those with Lite 2 cable? Lastly, do all the 3 UEs sf3 studio, sf5eb and sf5pro use the same cable?

Thanks!

Is the SF v2 cable = v2 'silver' cable = Lite 2 cables ? Are they basically the same cable ? Thanks!

Hi Lucid, I was at the shop just now (10 November) but I'm not sure if I got the chance to see you just now because I was doing some photography assignments. What time were you in Jaben? =)

Jaben does not carry Super.fis with Lite 1 cables. In fact, Ulitmate Ears have recalled their 1st Generation Super.fis from stores somewhen this year in June, due to some manufacture faults complained by customers worldwide. These fault includes : Brittle shell for the driver unit, thin cables which snapped easily.

All Ultimate Ears Super.fis share the same cables.

The 'V2 Cable' mentioned by our fellow forumer, Theory_87 was actually the Lite 2 cables (Silver-plated Copper).
