It is indeed an excellent Dual Driver IEM in my opinion. Very dynamic, musical and all rounder IEM and performed well in all aspects of music. The Super.fi 5 Pro were well balanced throughout the sound spectrum. Details were not covered or lost to the presence of warm and deep bass tones. The soundstage are placed satisfactory frontal and wide at the same time. In my past experiences of live staging mastering, I would say the Super.fi 5 Pro would be able to reproduce the stage/studio with good accuracy. The Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro could be further discovered with pairing the suitable amplifier and interconnect. Comfort is satisfactory if you're new into IEMs, but you will get used to the fit. You will need some time to learn the proper way of insertion and fit to your comfort. The Super.fi series IEMs had some cons. To begin with, the revised version of cables (Lite 2) were thicker among its competitors. It has a greater strength and tensile capabilities than the previous. However, this resulted in a stiffier and curly wires. Memory wires were alright for my liking. However there are some users who did not like to idea of memory wire contoured as ear loops. The Super.fi series did not have filter or wax guard. Cleaning is a tricky issue. The cleaning tool did not allow reach deep inside the bores. Personally, I would invert the IEM and tap the IEM on the tip to remove ear wax build-ups. Personally I would give a 9.0/10.0. I will not compare the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro with Westone UM2 as it perform differently on the same stream of music. |

poyo, it's interesting to hear that you are caught between these 2 IEMs. The sound signature of the UE and the ER4 is actually very different. It will depend on your genre of music and your listening taste. =) Find a day to do an audition between the 2? Cheerios~! |

Its like the um1, during auditioning, it was nothing spectacular. I took the plunge though. However it really shines after a week of using it. Sold it after hearing the ER6 with Go-Vibe So its the same case for the Super.fi 5 pro and ER4. While there are some discernible differences, at times its either too warm on the UE or too bright on the ER4. It depends on the mood of the day. At times you want a bassy headbanging signature. Sometimes u want details, details and more details. Too bad I can only get one of them.
My music taste is more towards movie soundtracks, game soundtracks ... mostly instrumentals. |

IMHO i feel that the super fi 5 pro are an all-rounder. They don't have the bass impact of the UM2 or the crtical details of the etys (i've only tried the er6i) and thus, fall somewhere in between. The super fi 5 pro are not really bass shy either. The seal is not top notch and can get a bit of getting used to but after a while you'll get the trick. In my case, the middle sized tips work best for me. I've tried amping it with the GV-5 in hope to brighten them up by just a bit but can't really seem to find a significant improvement in the SQ and thus decided to drop the idea of getting an amp but overall i'm quite satisfied with them Then again different folks, different strokes. YMMV (Maybe thats a good thing for me, save up for other upgrades) |

For me, when I tried the Superfi.5 Pro 2 months ago, when it first came in.. The thing that struck me the most was that it had around 70-80% of ER4's clarity yet not forgotting the 60-70% of UM2's bass. A very, very balanced all rounder if I may add (here balance means it has good control of the lower and upper end of the frequency spectrum) and the only qualms I have with it is that it's quite hard to insert. But, that problem can be solved quite easily by either : a. switching the left cable to the Right earpiece and vice versa b. just stick with it, and get comfortable looking like that.. hey come on, we're sound conscious people, not image conscious (get a B&O A8 then) In conclusion, this is a really nice all-rounder phone to have, if you're looking for clarity and not lose out on the lower end.. although I found that it was still a bit bassy for me, and it lacked that extra sparkle that I wished it had. If I didn't bought the ER4P or the ER4P was out of production, the Superfi.5 Pro is the way to go for me.. even the Superfi.3 Studio far exceeded my expectations.. Over and out, Topgun. -bzzt- |
