| My TOTALLY UNBIASED review of Force Unleashed; You know, that Star Wars game. | |

For the Wii version. Warning, there will be spoilers. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, is a game with many flaws. In fact, perhaps "The Forced Release" may have been a better name. It's the little things that count, like some soldiers vanishing when you hit them with lighting, and the main character (Galen Marek, AKA Starkiller) jumping through explosions unharmed. Of course, TFU has some big problems as well. For one thing, the game is simply too short and too linear. You are forced from place to place until the end, with a grand total of less than fifteen levels. Even worse, some of those levels are old areas revisited. For another, the game struggles to find a difficulty curve- either the game is easy or so tough it's broken. There are plot holes, plot points that go nowhere, and a penchant for people surviving when they get thrown into space on the part of the story writers. The romance between Galen and Juno Eclipse is so nonexistant, it's funny- An example of what I mean is when they're approaching Cloud City and Juno whispers "That's beautiful". Does Galen respond with "Like you,"? How about "Yeah... Maybe we should come back sometime, just the two of us,"? No, he turns to Kota and asks if he has a plan. I'm serious. Then him and Juno start making out before the final level without warning. Seriously, Galen/PROXY makes more sense than Galen/Juno. At least PROXY can be whatever it wants. Lightsaber combat is best won by flailing the wiimote madly and hoping Galen does something awesome. Oh, and he does do awesome stuff. There are these finishing moves, God of War-style, where you make movements to kick the crap out of your foe. Unfortuantely, since you're looking at what to press next, you miss the ass-kickery of the force. I'm guessing these aren't in duel mode, but I haven't tried it out yet, since there are no CPU foes. Nice one, LucasArts. The motion controls are clunky and often unresponsive, but this is only a problem when force hurling things and "clashing" with an opponent, which is cool the first two to three times you do it per fight. You can either force-clash or saber-clash and then you have to manipulate the remote/nunchuck to beat them while the two characters yell epic things at each other. If you do it fast enough, you get to watch a cool sequence and pile up a bit more damage on your foe. The music is both new and nostalgic, one of the few high points in an otherwise shoddy game. However, the woodenness of the voice acting (complementing the awful graphics) detracts from the atmosphere considerably. You can see that this game has very little going for it. However, Juno Eclipse has a hot British accent, Mara Jade is playable, and you get to blow shit up with the raw power of the force. Therefore, I give this game a 10/10. |

Did I mention that I was exaggerating the flaws to make the big reveal at the end, and therefore the whole review, more humor-oriented? |

No you did not. Also, I'm now defiantly buying this game so I can play as Luke Skywalker's sexy red-haired wife. Edited by cheesedude, Sep 23 2008, 03:09 PM.

A second disclaimer: She's playable, but she's just a skin for the main character- It's like playing as Starkiller except he's Mara Jade. Also, cutscenes get skipped (So no lesbian love cutscene with Juno and Mara (HOT!)). That doesn't change the fact that killing stormtroopers as Mara Jade is intensely satisfying and fucking awesome. |

Yeah, I had assumed that part and checked gamefaqs for confirmation. |

You heard wrong, the 360/PS3 version is worse. Every major review site (With the exception of Gamespot, which gives every Wii game a -1.5 to their score off the bat) has rated the Wii version higher. It has 5 extra levels, plus duel mode and motion controls. |

Unless you are obsessed with graphics of course. I'm personally not a fan of SW games, but I have a Wii so I might pick this up next time I go renting things... |
