zomg, it's L!; a true story, IRL

One of my friends at school has started acting quite a lot like L. Like, the weird L stuff. For example, he has started sitting like L; he even takes his shoes off when he does so, because apparently it's more comfortable that way. He also has started holding thins like L; y'know, like holding up papers by the corner, holding them between his thumb and pointer finger. That kind of stuff. It's exactly like L.

And the thing is, he's one of the smartest kids in my class. Me and him and the top math students in my grade level (he'll do better on some tests, I'll do better than others), and he's (much as I hate to admit defeat) probably the best overall, since he's also good at writing essays and is interested in history, which makes him much better at it than me. (However, I can still claim better grades, since he doesn't really care much about class and puts scarcely any effort into his work.) So, in other words, he's really smart... like L.

Here's the odd thing. I'm fairly certain he's not just trying to mimic L, because he hates anime and manga with a passion. It's actually quite funny, listening to his rants about them. I've even heard him rant about Death Note specifically, so he's sure as hell not going to try to copy some anime character. But for whatever reason, he's taken on L's habbits. zomg, it's the second coming of L!

I can scientifically prove that boredom can kill you. However, by the time I figure out how to prove it, I'd have already died of boredom.

His anime and manga hating could just be a disguise to make his odd behavior seem original. Crafting a rant about how much you hate anime, even if you don't hate it is easy. I don't notably hate anime and I can probably do just that. It just seems too strange for someone to adopt all of those behaviors when a fairly popular anime that's running around with someone exactly like that in it to really be a coincidence.

This sounds like a headfake/mindfuck.

I have to agree with GC here.

He was hating on anime (Death Note included) long before this recent acting-like-L-athon. He's not really the type who'd do it for attention, either; he doesn't give a damn what people think of him, and he garners plenty of attention already for his mocking sarcasm and pessimism.

Acting like L doesn't really bring him attention, though. Only a few people even know who L is, and commenting ceases after seeing it for the first time. And I doubt there's a single person in my grade level who doesn't know of him, anyway. Like I said, he's really not the type who would do this for attention. If he wanted attention, he would do something more extreme and widely-noticeable.

I think that it is awesome that he is like that. I hate it that everyone imitates L. It is great to know that someone does that naturally.
Practice safe lunch, use a condiment.
When you see a bunch of half full drinks laying around at a party, you take all of them and combine them and then you get one gigantic uber-drink, a Tom Wallbanger Bloody Sunrise on the Beach
