Emo is a very overused slang term for anyone with emotional problems or depressed. So people like to ridicule people by saying things like: Go cut yourself, emo. Or... God, stop complaining! Your so emo.

Emo is also a misspelling of Emu ^_^

It is. It's horrible how freakin' inconsiderate people are of others that have problems.

That's how jokes work Cheese. 70% of them are over exaggerating stereotypes. Emo is just one people on the internet use most often.

It is. Besides, very few people who are actually 'emo' as in self harming and depressed, wouldn't seek attention. They have serious psychological problems. Most of the idiots who claim to be emo are exactly that- idiots.

Yes, which is very ****ed up!

Which is why my sense of humor is different. I can't stand stereotypes because I was stereotyped my whole damn life.

No one stereotyped me because I never really fitted into any of them. But I really didn't like seeing other people treated that way.

Yeah.

There was one girl at my old school... it was kinda funny (in a weird way, not an amusing way).

I was changing schools (before I moved in December), and I was getting a whole bunch of attention from my friends.

So this one girl said she was leaving back to Khazakstan (sp?) a week before I was leaving. She came to school with her wrists slit. She came to school the week after she was supposed to have left and said she was leaving over Christmas. She came back after Christmas and hasn't left the school yet.

Sounds like attention seeking behaviour.

A girl at my old school lied that her mother had died of cancer because she wanted people to feel sorry for her.

Exactly.

And to the latter part of your post... Well... that must have been... interesting?

It was when her mother came to pick her up from school the same day looking very much alive and very healthy.

I should clarify that I know that's the way the world works, stereotypes will always be there. I learned to deal with it. But it used to be hell.

If you're going to lie about something to whore for attention, at least make it a convincing one not likely to come undone.

@ Cheese: I agree. They suck, but prejudice is part of human nature. If you can overcome it, that's the main thing.

I've gotten used to it- after being stereotyped for six years, I don't really care anymore. I'm still stereotyped, but I don't pay attention.

I hate it when people are stereotyped... but there's not much that can be done, because the majority of humanity happens to be complete bitches and dicks.

I do wonder how they come about though. Are humans truly so stupid as to believe that each of the 6.4 billion people of this world can really be categorised into simple groups?
