This game is so freaking awesome. I had played it on the GC for a while, but that was only a rental, and after we returned it, my mom wouldnt let us get it again. But i went over to a friends house last night, and he had just gotten it along with a ps2. We stayed up until 1 in the morning playing it, switching every so often. This morning, we put it on the big tv, and just got past del lago when i had to leave *sighs* good game though.

Lets discuss diff. between PS2 and GC versions.

Why does the box say "4 Resident Evil"? I mean seriously, what's up with that?

I've played part of RE4 at my friend's house, but I never played the whole thing. However, my friend claims that at some point the main character (I'm horrible at remembering names) says "Boredom kills," which is MY phrase. Does he actually say that?

I can scientifically prove that boredom can kill you. However, by the time I figure out how to prove it, I'd have already died of boredom.

not sure, never got past chapter 2 <.< >.> But when my friend gets a little farther, hes gonna let me borrow it. Ill check for you. You should either rent it of buy it. Its an awesome game. It was voted #1 game of the year for 2006. If you have both a GC and a PS2 like me, rent one and buy the other, GC has better graphics, control scheme etc., but PS2 has more extras.

Eh, I'm not really that great at FPS games... I might try it if I ever start renting games online, though. (The Blockbuster where I live has virtually no good games, so I can't really rent stuff there.)

What I'm trying to do right now is collect every single treasure you can possibly collect in the game and seeing how much they sell for all together in the end (I think I have over 100 spinels and velvet blues right now). I have all the infinite weapons and have beaten the Mercenaries and Assignment Ada. I've beaten pro mode once, but I erased the file by accident. Pro mode didn't seem that much harder from normal at all.

This game is awesome. Whenever my friends and I get together, I make sure to have Evan play RE4 when we start getting bored. I love playing tricks on him. The most memorable ones was the first time you get strangled by Chief Mendez. I told him, "Dude, you totally missed it. Behind one of the paintings in that room is an upgraded shotgun." So he goes back into the room, at which point he gets that secret cutscene where Mendez tries to kill you. I started yelling "you gonna' die!" and I continued doing so until Ada stopped him. He was pretty angry up until then. The second time, however, was my favorite. It was right before Del Lago. I said, "Okay, shoot the fish in the lake."

"What? Uh... Oh yeah, so it's just like back in the sewer when I shot those fish and ate them to regain health?" He responded.

"Uh, yeah. Exactly!" I said after a moment's pause. I swear, he just makes this too easy sometimes.

In summation: giant newt eats Evan, Evan jumps off couch, I nearly wet myself laughing, Evan nearly wets himself with fear. Oh man, those are good times.

And pro mode is much more difficult than normal mode. In normal I think they have something that prevents you from dying if your health was yellow or green, even if such a hit would have decreased your life bar below zero (and I'm pretty sure it exists because I abused it all the time). In pro mode, if you're in the yellow and take a hit from most anything you're almost garunteed to die. And regenerators hare harder because they have parasites on their back. Plus some other stuff I can't remember.

And I think the GC version is better than the PS2 version, but only because I faor graphics over a cheap, parallel storyline with a couple bits of secret info (that I got from watching it on YouTube anyway).

I knew that, but I never really got hit anyways so I didn't really notice the difference. And the regenerators weren't really that hard at all, even though they had the extra parasite.

borrowed the game from a friend, just got done with the red-robed monk on the turret. I think ive passed waterworld, but im not sure. So far, the only hard part in the castle was the very beginning, where you have to destroy all those catapaults. Ashley kept on getting either carried off or killed by a flaming boulder.

Yeah you've passed the water room if that's what you meant (waterworld is the name of a stage on The Mercenaries minigame). Heheheh good luck getting through the Hedge Maze.........

Water World's only on mercenary mode.

And I get hit all the time. Primary reason: Ba-Knife! (particularly regenerators)
