According to Nielsen’s estimates, ABC won the night over all as 14.7 million viewers tuned in to “Grey’s Anatomy” at 9 p.m., outperforming Fox’s coverage of Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, which averaged roughly 10.3 million viewers over the course of the night. CBS placed second for the night as “Survivor: Samoa” (12.9 million) won the 8 p.m. hour, outpacing ABC’s “FlashForward” (9.8 million). At 10, a rerun of “The Mentalist” on CBS (11.3 million) defeated “The Jay Leno Show” on NBC (5 million) and “Private Practice” on ABC (10 million). NBC ranked a distant fourth, earning solid results for “The Office” (8.5 million) but more modest numbers for its comedies “30 Rock” (6.7 million), “Community” (5.2 million) and “Parks and Recreation” (5 million).
