just saw this over at TWOP ABC released the stills for episode 6.07 "Give Peace a Chance" - the Derek-centric episode directed by Chandra GREY'S ANATOMY - "Give Peace a Chance" - When Isaac, the hospital lab tech, has an inoperable tumor wrapped around his spine, he turns to Dr. Derek Shepherd to do the impossible, and Derek tests the Chief's authority when Richard objects to moving forward with the risky surgery, on "Grey's Anatomy," THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. |

The actress who portrays Dr. Miranda Bailey in the medical show made her directorial debut in this October 29 episode which is called "Give Peace a Chance". When Isaac, the hospital lab tech, has an inoperable tumor wrapped around his spine, he turns to Dr. Derek Shepherd to do the impossible. Derek tests the Chief's authority when Richard objects to moving forward with the risky surgery. Chandra Wilson is the first star of the show to take a role behind the lens. Back in July, it was reported that another actor also made a negotiation with the producers to direct an episode. The unnamed actor wanted more creative and personal freedom which may alter his or her contract. Not only in real life, Wilson also gets a development in her character's personal department by getting a mother. The show is casting an actress to play Rachel, a very "tasteful, classy and smart" woman identified as Bailey's mother. She will appear as an ailing patient in a holiday episode. |

This week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, titled "I Saw What I Saw," was intense right from the beginning. The show was full of flashbacks from earlier in the night telling a confusing tale of how a burn victim mysteriously died during the chaos of a busy night in Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. What happened tonight was unacceptable. Chief Richard Webber "What happened tonight was unacceptable," said the Chief as he had everyone lined up outside his office waiting to be interrogated high-school style, and we watched everyone's account of what happened that evening. The entire episode was tense; everything was frantic and chaotic, and all of the doctors were dancing around from patient to patient, adding to the confusion of an E.R. full of burn victims after a huge fire. We go through every doctor's recollection, no one taking blame for the death. Actually no one can even claim the patient because she was passed off over and over again as seemingly more critical injuries continued to flow into the hospital. Everyone was distracted with their own problems. Karev was trying to get in touch with Izzy who had been missing for a week, and when he finally got her on the phone, he had to hang up on her. Lexie had a really hard time controlling her emotions while working to help a very serious burn victim and all of the Mercy Westers were anxious about getting good surgeries and looking out for themselves. In going through everyone's stories, the truth is eventually revealed. April, one of the new doctors, had forgotten a fundamental step in while initially checking out the patient, so all along the doctors were ignorant of underlying problems that finally killed the woman. Under pressure from his superiors and in his "quest for truth," the Chief told April on the spot that she is fired. Derek questioned the Chief's actions, bluntly blaming Richard for everything that happened that night. ...that's the system now: chaos. Dr. Derek Shepherd "Maybe it's not one doctor. Maybe it's too many doctors who don't know each other and who don't trust each other. When I got to that room, it was chaos, because that's the system now: chaos. That has been the system that's been in place since this merger. Your system. I'm saying you should look again at who is responsible," Derek said. Derek is right, the doctors do not know each other, much less trust each other, and the hospital can not function like this very long before things really start to fall apart. After the interrogations and April's termination, all of the residents were gathered in the hall commenting on the day. They were mostly bashing each other, but Christina actually defends Reed, indirectly of course. I'm ready for everyone to stop competing and begin getting to know each other. The Chief has really been annoying here lately trying to defend himself all the time, often times being harsh at all the wrong times for all the wrong reasons. Something needs to be done about the structure of the hospital now that the merge is firmly in place and people need to feel some job security so that they can stop worrying about themselves and start concentrating on their patients. Meredith Grey is out of commission (officially because she donated an organ to her daddio, unofficially because Ellen Pompeo was having a kid), so not only is Patrick Dempsey's Dr. Derek Shepherd getting the lead-character spotlight to himself this week on Grey's Anatomy, he's getting the voice-over! Pompeo does the Anatomy voice-over the overwhelming majority of the time, but now and again the spotlight shifts to another character's point of view. This week Dempsey takes the lead, as Derek faces down an inoperable supertumor that has the hospital aflutter with excitement and as the Chief (James Pickens Jr.) feels increasingly threatened by McDreamy's surgical confidence and administrative prowess.
