Meredith and Lexi walk into the hospital. Lexi-You sure your ready for this. Meredith-I have to be Lex. Lexi-Your worried about Derek aren't you. Meredith-It was just his voice something in his voice. Lexi-Mer youv'e both been through alot lately. Meredith-No i um i just i think it's worse than that he sounded broken. Lexi-Um why. Meredith-I um i don't know i just ok i just lets go and find Casey i can only deal with one thing at a time. Lexi nods as she and Mredith walk to the elevator and to the nurses station. Nurse-Can i help Mam. Meredith-Hi i'm Dr Meredith Sheperd. Nurse-Meredith Sheperd seriously. Lexi-I think she's heard of you. Nurse-Yes of course i have how can i help. Meredith-I'm looking for someone she's a nurse Casey Reeves she transfered from Seattle a few weeks ago. Nurse-Oh Casey yeah she's actually on lunch would you like me to direct you to the canteen. Lexi-No we got it thanks. Nurse-Um Dr Sheperd before you go i know this is so lame but i'm trying to get onto the surgical rotation and i read all your articles can you sign this for me. The nurse gives Meredith a magazine and she quickly signs it before rushing off. Lexi-Wow my sister is sooo famous. Meredith-No it's Derek not me. Lexi-Both equal partners Mer. They walk towards the canteen and it's empty Meredith looks up and see's Casey walking across the canteen with a tray of food she looks up and see's Meredith and Lexi and the tray hits the floor with a clattering sound that echo's around the whole canteen. Casey looks at Meredith in complete shock. Lexi-I take it that's her. Meredith-Yes. Lexi-You want to do this alone or do you want me by your side. Meredith-Uh just stay here in view. Lexi nods as Meredith walks towards Casey who is on the floor scooping up her food. Meredith-Dr Reeves have you got a minute. Casey-Um i um not really i just um. Meredith-You owe me this take a seat please. Casey nods and walks towards the corner table Meredith following closely behind. Meredith-You seem shocked to see me. Casey-I am um i never expected you to come here. Meredith-Seriously you really thought i'd just accept what you did. Casey-No i just yes i explained everything in the letter. Meredith-You believe a few words in a letter makes up for all the pain everything iv'e been through i had to see your face to see your reactions. Casey-I can only say i'm sorry. Meredith-Sorry doesn't cut it Casey it doesn't take away my pain my fear it doesn't take away Derek's pain his fear a letter doesn't do that. Casey-What do you want me to say Dr Sheperd if i could take it back take it all back i would. I was so scared so upset angry with myself i hated it i saw how broken you were and just didn't know how to fix it i wanted to tell you but i could never find the words. Meredith-You couldn't find the words to tell me to stop me going into the X-Ray department you saw me you stood next to me while i stood there with no protection. Casey-Dr Sheperd you need to understand you and your husband especially you are my idol all the intern's idol. When Dr Karev told me i had a VIP and i had to keep it quiet i was scared and then you both walked in i wanted to do everything right but i was so tired i have a young child i'm a single parent i know you will see that as an excuse but i just i'm sorry please if you don't believe anything else believe that. Meredith-I get you were tired seriously iv'e been there i was so tired once i put my fingernail through a patient's heart but i owned up to it you just ran away. The last time i ran away from my problems i let myself drown i let myself sink to the bottom of Elliott Bay and Derek he. The words ring in Meredith's head and it all seems to swim as she realises what is wrong with Derek. Casey-Dr Sheperd are you ok. Meredith-Um yes yes i'm ok listen i have to go don't keep running Casey. Casey-Is um is the baby ok. Meredith gently put her hand on her stomach. Meredith-Yes i think so my baby is ok. Casey-Dr Sheperd i am sorry. Meredith looks at Casey and any anger she had just disapears as she knows her baby is safe and alive that is all that matters. She runs her hands through her hair and looks at her wedding rings that are twinkling in the light from the canteen. Casey-Dr Sheperd. Meredith-I know your sorry i'm gonna go. Casey-Um ok um. Meredith walks towards Lexi. Lexi-Mer. Meredith-Can we go. TBC Part 2 to follow hopefully tonight

Hey guys thank you for all the bumps and here's an update for you sorry it took so long (Life and work all suck) thank-you for your patience and intrest in my story the last few chapters will be up soon and i will be bringing this story to a close so enjoy.  They leave the canteen and head into the elevator. Lexi-Mer what happened. Meredith-I have to get back to Derek. Lexi-Why the rush. Meredith-It's his baby too Lex no-one asked everyone has been worried about me no-one has asked Derek he's breaking Lex. Lexi-Um ok. Meredith-I have to get home i have to see him to be there i don't i need Derek and if he breaks Lexi if Derek breaks we are finished. Lexi-I am so confused Meredith why is he breaking, breaking what. Meredith-Lex there's alot you don't know about me alot iv'e done iv'e caused Derek endless pain and i can't wev'e never dealt with it. I just buried it and now it's there it's breaking him. Lexi-Meredith i don't understand what did you do that was so bad. Meredith-Lexi. Lexi-You are freaking out in front of me your scaring me and i have no idea why i don't know what youv'e done. Meredith-I died Lexi. The breath seems to leave Lexi's lungs as she looks at Meredith. Lexi-You died but how. Meredith-I drowned Lexi we have to go. Lexi leans back against the elevator as the doors open. Meredith-Lexi please. Lexi-No tell me what happened why did you drown. Meredith-Lexi please we have to go to catch our flight i can't do this now. Lexi-Meredith you drowned. Meredith-I have to get back to Derek. Lexi walks out of the elevator and climbs into the passenger side of the car and they drive off towards the airport and arrival at departures. Meredith grabs her cell phone and dials a number. Back in Seattle Derek is sat in the living-room with a glass of scotch in his hand. Mark-You ok man. Derek-I don't know Mark iv'e hit this wall i just don't know. Derek's cell phone vibrates on the side and he looks at the ID. Mark-Answer it. Derek-It's Meredith i can't. Mark-You can't ignore her Derek that doesn't solve anything. Derek sighs and puts the phone on the side. Back at the airport Meredith is feeling really hot and can feel tiny sweat dews on her forehead. Lexi-Mer. Meredith-I feel really weird Lexi. Lexi-Mer your sweating your temp is really high. Lexi feels for Meredith's pulse. Lexi-Meredith your pulse is racing. Meredith-Yeah um i'm gonna go and throw so cold water on my face. Meredith gets up out of the plastic chair but feels so dizzy and she almost collapses. Lexi-Mer. Meredith-I'm gonna be sick Lex. They run into the airport toliets and Meredith runs into a cubicle. Lexi-You can't fly Mer i need to get you to the hospital. Meredith-No hospital i can't Lexi please. Lexi-Your sick your exhausted you need to rest. Meredith-My phone call Caroline. Lexi-Who's Caroline. Meredith-Mom Derek's Mom i can't go to any more hospital's Caroline i'll go there please Lexi. Lexi sighs and grabs Meredith's cell phone & Calls Caroline. Back in Seattle. Mark-You need to eat something to soak up all that alcohol. Derek-Meredith isn't here Callum is at Mum's i'm not working tomorrow drown myself in drink. Mark-Derek that doesn't help. Derek-Helps me. Derek downs another glass of whiskey and shakes his head at the taste. Mark sits with him as he almost drink the whole bottle. Derek's phone starts to vibrate again on the side and he grabs it and turns it off. Mark-Derek. Derek-I'm fed up Mark so fed up she runs away from me she hides things from me she just i love that woman so much but she drives me mad. Mark-Derek you should of answered the phone. Derek-No i'm going to bed to sleep. Derek pulls himself from the chair as he heads into the hall in his drunkn state he knocks the housephone out of sync and heads upstairs his head spinning he falls into bed as Mark clears up the mess downstairs his cell phone vibrating on the chair he doesn't see Lexi's name on the screen as he loads up the dishwasher. Lexi shuts her phone and looks down the corridor of the hospital where she has just left Meredith and Callum. Caroline-Alexia. Lexi-It's um Lexi. Caroline-What on earth has happened. Lexi just bursts into tears as Caroline pulls her into her arms. Caroline-Oh my love it's ok what on earth is going on where is Derek & Mark. TBC Edited by Natalie, Jun 14 2009, 07:08 PM.
