Meredith walks down the hallway of a very dusty house. Meredith-Eden come on babe. Eden-Mom why did we move here for the last 2 days it has done nothing but rain. Meredith-It's Seattle Eden it rains alot. Eden-That's rubbish do we have to go again. Meredith-Babe please. Eden-I don't want to go to another stupid hospital. Meredith-Eden please i promise i just have to sign my paper-work and then we can sort out the house. Eden-Why did we have to move here anyway i loved New York. Meredith-Yeah so did i but i couldn't stay there anymore. Eden-I miss Daddy. Meredith-I don't look please grab your coat and we can run to the hospital sign my new paperwork then come back and decorate your bedroom. Eden-Pink please can i have it pink. Meredith-Your going to be 8yrs old in 2 months you sure you want it pink. Eden-Maybe purple and pink Mum when does our furniture get here. Meredith-No furniture nothing from the old house you know that. Eden-But all my stuff my clothes everything. Meredith-I will buy you new everything a whole new wardrobe. Eden-Really. Meredith-Yes so please can we go and sign these papers. Eden-Ok. Meredith and Eden leave the house and walk to the car soon arriving at the hospital. Nurse-Hi can i help you. Meredith-I'm here to see Chief Webber. Nurse-Third floor last office on the left. Meredith-Thank-you. Meredith and Eden walk to the elevator and arrive at the third floor. Eden-I'll wait in chairs Mom. Meredith-Don't move from there don't talk to anyone. Eden-I know Mom i'll sit right here. Meredith walks along the corridor and knocks on the door. Eden sits looking around completly bored and messing with her Ipod when a doctor walks towards her. Man-Hi you ok. Eden looks up at the man and smiles. Man-Are you ok. Eden-Sorry i'm not allowed to talk to strangers. Man-Ok well then i'm Derek Sheperd Head of Neurology not a stranger anymore. Eden-You do the brain thing. Derek laughs. Derek-Yes the brain thing and you are. Eden-Eden Grey my Mom is in that office talking to the Chief or something. Derek-Your Mom is working here i reconise the name Grey. Eden-My nan is Ellis Grey she was or is i'm not sure a really famous surgeon wrote books video's you know boring grown up stuff. Derek-I knew your Nan she taught me in college. Eden-I never met her Mom didn't let me. Derek-Oh right who's your Mom. Eden-Meredith Grey. Derek-Meredith Grey is my new resident and she's your Mom. Eden-Yep she's the new doctor doing the icky brain thing too. Meredith opens the door and sees Eden talking to Derek. Meredith-Eden i told you don't talk to strangers. Eden-Mom he's not a stranger. Meredith-You don't know him so he equals stranger. Do you randomely talk to kids sat alone. Derek-No of course not. Eden-Mom wait. Meredith-Eden you never listen to me i told you don't talk to strange people. Derek-Sorry it was my fault please don't blame her. Meredith-Come on lets go. Eden-Mom he is a stranger but not a stranger he told me his name he works here at the hospital he does the icky brain thing like you. Derek-Hi i'm Derek Sheperd. Meredith-Derek Sheperd as in my new boss Derek Sheperd. Eden-Mom i'm going over by the window. Eden walks off and Meredith looks down at the floor she feels so stupid. Derek-Hi. Meredith-Crap hi i'm really sorry. Derek-No my fault for the record i don't usually talk to kids but she looked kinda lonely and i was worried about her sat alone. Meredith-Yeah she uh gets bored easily i had to talk to Richard sign my paperwork sorry for being so rude. Derek-Forget it it's ok. Meredith-I uh i'm sorry again. Derek-Forget it you live nearby. Meredith-Kinda my Mother's old house. Derek-When Richard told me we were having a Grey i was looking forward to it. Meredith-I'm nowhere near as good as my Mom wish i was. Derek-Don't sell yourself short iv'e read your reviews your a fantastic surgeon Dr Grey. Meredith-Uh thank-you i have alot to prove i want to get by one my own credits. Derek-You'll do just fine. Derek's pager beeps at his hip. Meredith-You better go. Derek-It was nice meeting you Meredith see you in a week. Eden-Mom can we go now. Meredith-Yes lets go. TBC |

Later that evening Meredith is stood by the door watching Eden sleep. She sighs heavily and pulls the door shut and heads into the kitchen clutching papers in her hand. Meredith-Ok lets get this done. Meredith reads through the papers and signs on the dotted line 8 years of marriage all gone 8 years of her life all over. The man she trusted thought would never hurt her left her broken-hearted. She had to leave run away and here she is in her childhood home somewhere she vowed never to return but she was left with very little choice. At first she choose to ignore the hickies on her husband's neck him smelling of other women's perfume she tried for Eden's sake to make it work but she was desperately unhappy. When she first told her husband she was leaving her laughed told her she wouldn't survive without him Meredith believed him let him wear her down but coming home from a 16hr shift to their house they shared as a family and finding another woman in their bed she flipped grabbed her bag and rushed to the school dragged Eden out of class and headed to a hotel while trying to figure out her next move. Which luckily for Meredith had a doctorate conference weekend going on and she bumped into an old family friend Richard Webber who offered her a second chance Meredith accepted and here she is sat in her childhood home in the kitchen that desperately needs decorating. She looks around and bursts into tears so unsure if she is doing the right thing her cell starts ringing in her bag she answers the call. Meredith-I told you stop calling me. Man-Meredith come home. Meredith-Stop calling me leave me alone. Meredith disconnects the call. The following week she is desperate to make Eden happy and get the house right and liveable she hires professional decorators buys brand new furniture. Eventully the house looks great and Meredith prepares to get Eden ready for her first day at school and she gets ready for her first shift at the hospital. That morning Meredith drops Eden at school and walks through the reception of Seattle Grace bumping into Derek. Derek-Nice to see you again Dr Grey. Meredith-Oh Dr Sheperd good morning. Derek-You got everything you need. Meredith-Yes just need to pick up my pager. Derek-I'll take you there i'm heading that way have you met the rest of your residents yet. Meredith-No haven't found the time iv'e been busy. Derek-Looking after your daughter and working here life must be mad. Meredith-Life is settling down i'll put it that way. Derek-So when do we get to meet your husband. Meredith-My husband. Derek-Your ring is he also a doctor. Meredith-Oh that yeah my uh my marriage is actually over in the middle of a divorce but i can't get the stupid thing off. Derek-Try baby oil worked for me. Meredith-Your divorced. Derek-Yeah welcome to the club. Meredith-Club oh uh yeah thanks. Derek-Sorry that was a stupid joke i was just glad my marriage ended clearly your still raw as such. Meredith-Oh um i'm glad it's over but adjusting yeah i'm still adjusting to it. Derek-If you need any advice i'm around. Meredith-Oh yeah thank-you but i'm sure we will be ok. Derek-Your new to Seattle right. Meredith-No i grew up here left 10years ago. Derek-Oh that's cool i didn't realise your mother lived here. Meredith-You knew my Mom. Derek-Kinda she terrified me taught me in college. Meredith-Terrified you try having her for a mom. Derek-Yeah sorry to hear about her illness. Meredith-Oh right you know. Derek-Yeah sorry i wasn't going to say anything but i just felt i should is she ok. Meredith-Oh um she's in a home Alzhimers final stages doesn't even reconise me anymore but then i haven't seen her for nearly 10yrs so it's understandable. Derek-Is there anything i can do. Meredith-No no it's uh no just a waiting game i think i know that sounds awful. Derek-No i understand right we are here see Thomas and he will assign you a pager and i'll take you to the doctor's lounge and make some introductions. Meredith-Oh right ok. TBC |

Meredith follows Derek into the doctor's lounge and sees a bunch of doctor's she hesistates at the door. Derek-You ok. Meredith-Yeah sorry just not good meeting new people. Derek-You need to know your colleagues Dr Grey. Meredith-Yes i know sorry i'm ok. Derek-Ladies i'd like you to meet my new Neuro resident Meredith Grey meet Cristina Yang and Izzie Steven's. Cristina-Grey any relation to the Ellis Grey. Derek-Yeah actually Ellis is her mother. Meredith-Oh uh. Izzie-Ellis Grey is your mother. Karev-Wow Ellis Grey. George-Who's talking about Ellis Grey. Cristina-The new Resident Meredith Grey royally inbred Ellis Grey is her Mom. Izzie-Will she come here to vist you. Meredith-No. Cristina-Why it would be well cool to meet her in the flesh. Meredith-My Mom won't be coming to the hospital. Derek-Meredith meet George O'Malley he is general surgery Alex Karev plastics. Cristina is Cardio and Izzie is OBGYN. Meredith-Oh right thanks. Alex-So did you learn everything from your mother. Meredith-No nothing. George-Your mother is Ellis Grey the best teacher in the world. Meredith-Yes i know that but i got where i am today by myself no special favours from my mom or anyone. Meredith turns around and leaves the room. Cristina-What's her problem. Derek-Oh i better go. Derek leaves the room and tries to find Meredith. Chief-Dr Sheperd. Derek-Chief. Chief-How is Dr Grey settling in. Derek-Uh well yes she seems to be ok. Chief-She is like a daughter to me i trust you to look out for her. Derek nods and walks off in search of Meredith eventully finding her down in the ER. Meredith-Dr Sheperd i just paged you. Derek-What's the problem. Meredith-I was called down for a consult 8yr Tiffany Bennett extensive head damage iv'e taken CT scans and she is currently in MRI. Derek-What was the cause. Meredith-From what i can get from her hysterical mother she was messing about in the tree house tripped and landed on her head. Derek-Damn where are the scans. Meredith shows Dr Sheperd the scans and he sighs. Meredith-No chance is there. Derek-No the bleeding is extensive we could go in but i don't think it would help. Meredith-I'll tell her Mom. Derek-I'll come with you. Meredith and Derek walk off towards Tiffany's mom. Meanwhile. Cristina-I like her she seems kinda ok. Izzie-Yeah but she freaked out ran off. George-Well to be fair we were kinda rude and only intrested in her mother. Alex-Yeah i suppose thats true you know i'm sure i reconised her from somewhere. Cristina-Evl-Spawn what are you going on about. Alex-She just looks familar. George-How. Alex-I don't know she just does. Izzie-Should we invite her to Joe's tonight get to know her properly. Cristina-Why not. Later that afternoon Meredith is scrubbing out from surgery with Derek after Tiffany's mom got so distraught she begged them to perform the surgery anything to try and keep her daughter. Derek relented and they went into surgery and the outcome was exactly as he said Meredith gets quite emotional as they prounance Tiffany's death and Derek finds her scrubbing at her hands and fiddling with her ring. Derek-Dr Grey. Meredith-Sorry i'm just coming. Derek-Are you ok. Meredith-Yes i um yeah i just emotional. Derek-Yeah i understand that feeling. Meredith-Her Mom will be devestated i Eden is the same age i can't imagine what she is feeling. Derek-Listen i'll deal with it why don't you go home. Meredith-Thank-you. Derek-Remember try baby oil on your ring. Meredith smiles and walks away bumping into Cristina and Izzie. Cristina-Hey Meredith are you going. Meredith-Yes. Izzie-Listen do you want to come for a drink we were a bit rude earlier let us make it up to you. Meredith-Oh um i can't i'm sorry. Cristina-Go on everyone will be there proper introductions. Meredith-I really appreciate the offer but i can't i have to pick my daughter up from school. Izzie-You have a daughter. Meredith-Yes Eden thanks again for the offer maybe another time. Meredith climbs into the car and drives off picking up Eden and pulling her into her arms. Eden-Mom your suffocating me what's wrong. Meredith-Nothing i'm sorry really bad day at work. Eden-School was cool i made loads of friends. Meredith-That's great babe. Meredith and Eden head home and as they pull up Meredith's cell starts ringing. Meredith-Go on in babe it's work. Eden nods and heads inside the house. Meredith-I told you to stop calling me. Man-Babe i miss you i know i was an idiot but please come home. Meredith-No our marriage is over just leave me alone. Man-Babe we both know that isn't true you love me. Meredith-I did love you until you started cheating you expected me to put up with that. Man-You know me i just i love you babe you know that is Eden there. Meredith-No she's inside doing her homework. Man-So where are you. Meredith-I'm hanging up now. Man-Mer when your ready to come back i'll be right here waiting for you give our daughter a kiss from me. Meredith sighs and hangs up the phone before going inside. TBC |

2 weeks pass and Meredith seems to be settling in more with the staff at Seattle Grace especially Derek they work together everyday and she is really enjoying his friendship and the surgeries he allows her to deal with she is really trying to get along with the other residents and eventully they brgin to understand why she chooses not to go out and instead goes home to Eden Izzie after meeting Meredith's daughter only once falls completly inlove with her taking her shopping and spoiling her. Later that night Derek is walking down the corridor and he finds Eden sat on a gurney. Derek-Eden. Eden-Hello Dr Sheperd. Derek-Derek. Eden-Eden. Derek smiles and Eden giggles as Derek sits next to her. Derek-Waiting for your Mom. Eden-Yeah we are going out. Derek-Anywhere nice. Eden-Don't know she has a surprise for me she left her bag with me promising not to be long that was over 20 minutes ago. Derek-I thought she finished ages ago. Eden-She did but she forgot to sign off a chart so we had to stop on the way back. Derek-You settling in ok. Eden-Yeah i really like the house and iv'e made loads of new friends Izzie is so cool she took me shopping yesterday i bought oads of new clothes. Derek-That's good. Eden-Is Mom ok here. Derek-Yeah she seems to be really settling in she's an amazing surgeon. Eden-Cool she seems to be happy she wasn't happy in NY. Derek-I heard she's going through a divorce. Eden-Yeah Mom and Dad are getting divorced i really miss my Daddy. Derek-You a Daddy's girl then. Eden-Yep my Daddy anything i wanted he gave me i miss him but Mom was sad and i'm her kid she gave birth to me carried me for 9 months so i go with her as she says. Eden giggles at her words and Derek frowns. Meredith walks back along the corridor towards Derek and Eden just as her cell starts ringing in her bag Eden answers it. Eden-Hi Daddy. Meredith rushes to them as she realises Eden has answered her cell. Eden-Yeah we are in. Meredith snatches the phone from Eden to Derek's shock and speaks into her cell before quickly closing it. Meredith-Don't do that. Eden-Mom i was talking to my daddy. Meredith-Eden lets go. Eden storms towards the elevator. Derek-Meredith are you ok. Meredith-Fine yes i'm fine it's ok. Derek-Meredith is everything ok. Meredith-Yes i'm fine goodnight Dr Sheperd. Derek watches Meredith and Eden walking across the car-park he sighs and walks away. He has recently found himself enjoying Meredith's company but finds her secrecy about all aspects of her life very hard to deal with. Meredith pulls up at the docks in silwnce Eden is sat in the front with her arms folded and thw biggest scowl on her face. Meredith-Baby. Eden-I was talking to Daddy he wanted to know where we were. Meredith-Yeah i bet he did. Eden-Mom why did we come here to Seattle. Meredith-Because my mother she's sick. Eden-Not because Daddy made you cry. Meredith-Yes that too but my mother needs me. Eden-Why am i not allowed to see her. Meredith-She's sick. Eden-Daddy said she is losing her mind that she's mad. Meredith-She's not mad she's sick she has alzheimers which is an illness it makes her really forgetful. Eden-Can i go see her. Meredith-No baby she's sick and doesn't like visitors i go to see her and she doesn't even reconise me. Eden-Really aww Mom thats so sad. Meredith-Yeah listen anyway time for your surprise. Eden-The water. Meredith-No i promised you a ferry boat at night so here we are. Eden-Wow really. Meredith-The lights of Seattle at night is the most amazing thing babe you'll love it. Eden-Cool. Meredith drives her car onto the ferry and they head to the top and Eden absouetly loves it she is completly transfixed by the lights and sparkling sea as they slowly make there way across the calm sea. Eventully Eden starts to flag and climbs into the back seat and falls aslep Meredith smiles as she pulls a blanket over her. She walks to the edge and looks at her wedding ring and engagement ring twinkling in the moonlight she kisses them and throws them into the dark sea. Derek-Meredith Meredith-Dr Sheperd. Derek-Meredith. Meredith-Sorry Derek. Derek-Are you ok. Meredith-Yes listen i'm sorry about my outburst earlier you shouldn't of been witness to my emotional breakdowns. Derek-It's ok is everything ok i'm just you are so guarded. Meredith-You don't want to hear about it. Derek-I'd like to think i'm also a friend and not just your boss. Meredith-You are Derek. Derek-So please trust me i'm here as a friend as your boss whatever you need. Meredith-It's just so messed up. Derek-Your husband are you on the run did he hit you. Meredith-Hit me no never i'd like to see him try he just he cheated endlessly on me i was so inlove with him yet i was never enough. I gave him a daughter that beautiful girl is all his and still it wasn't enough to keep him there with us. Derek-Meredith i'm sorry. Meredith-Don't be i finally had enough and left him but he wants me back has made all these promises that i don't believe for a second. Derek-He doesn't know your in Seattle. Meredith-No but he will eventully find me he will show up here begging for forgiveness swearing he's changed. Derek-Will you go back. Meredith-No not this time i can't but Eden she is such a Daddy's girl she hangs on his every word she absouetly adores her father and he is angry iv'e taken her away from him. Derek-He doesn't seem very nice. Meredith-He was the most amazing man when i fell inlove with him he broke my defences promised me the world and then took it all away. Derek-I'm sorry Meredith. Meredith-I'm ok what about your marriage. Derek-Wife cheated with my best friend we lived in NY i was kinda absent you know working long hours and they betrayed me. Meredith-Oh i'm really sorry. Derek-Thank-you i gave it a 2nd chance 3 years we tried but i just couldn't i couldn't forget the betrayal. Meredith-Hurts like hell don't it you always ask why your not enough. Derek-We were married 11 years i mean it was over 9 years ago now the affair but i'm amazed at how the anger still appears. Meredith-First time i caught him with another woman i blamed myself i wasn't exactly the best wife i had just had Eden and was run ragged, He swore it was a one-off never again and for a while he was the best then the tell tale signs appeared he was always coming home late smelt of a woman's perfume that wasn't mine hickies on his neck. Derek-Hickies what is he 10. Meredith-Sometimes i asked myself that very question. Derek-You your rings. Meredith-Baby oil i just threw them cost him a few thousand dollars now at the bottom of the sea. Derek laughs and Meredith giggles and they catch eachother's eye Meredith looks away quickly as the ferry horn sounds signalling the end of their journey. Meredith-Thank-you Derek. Derek-Anytime listen how about dinner next week just friends we can take Eden with us try and help her forget her Dad. Meredith-Friends. Derek-Just as friends i don't want to complicate things for you Meredith. Meredith-Ok dinner friends Eden really likes you. Derek-She a lovely kid so i better go i'll see you at work monday. Meredith-Thank-you again Derek. TBC |

Later that week Meredith-Eden come on we are going to be late. Eden-I can't find my shoes Mom. Meredith-Under your bed the black ones. Eden-Mom i can't find them. Meredith-We are going to be late. Eden-Mom you were late home from work not my fault. Meredith-Just hurry up and find your shoes babe Derek will be here in a minute. Eden-Am i allowed to go Mom. Meredith-Go where. Eden-My school trip please can i go. Meredith-Babe it's for 2 weeks. Eden-I know please Mom can i go. Meredith-I'll think about it just get your shoes please. The door goes and Meredith opens it to Derek. Derek-Hey you ready. Meredith-Hopefully Eden. Eden-Just coming. Eden bounds down the stairs. Derek-Well look at you pretty in pink. Eden-Thank-you so where are we going. Derek-Well that's the best bit. Meredith-Best bit. Derek-Well i figured your Mom and Me this last week we have been working so much that we deserved a rest. Eden-A rest but that's boring. Derek-Trust me you will enjoy yourself. Eden-Mom. Meredith-I think we should trust him. Eden giggles and they walk to Derek's car soon arriving at their destination Derek's land. Eden-It's a trailer. Derek-I told you to trust me. Eden-We are eating dinner in a trailer. Derek-No we are eating dinner there my new house. Meredith and Eden turn around to find the most beautiful house. Eden-It's like our house back in NY. Meredith-Eden it's nothing like it. Derek-Come on then. Eden rushes ahead of Derek and Meredith. Meredith-What's with the trailer. Derek-I lived there for a few years when i first arrived in Seattle. Meredith-Wow a trailer. Derek-I love fishing the fresh air the views i have this most amazing view of thr sunrise you just have to see. Meredith-Definetly. Eden-Come on i'm hungry. Derek laughs as he opens the front-door and they head inside. Derek-I hope you like bolognaise. Eden-It's my favourite. Derek-Well it should be just about ready so make yourselves comfortable Drink. Eden-Apple juice please. Derek disapears into the kitchen and returns with wine and juice before dishing up dinner soon followed by strawberry ice-cream. Eden-Derek i love your house. Meredith-Do you get lonely living in such a big house alone. Derek-Sometimes but i enjoy the peace. Eden-Can i go and watch Dvd's i saw them when i came in. Meredith-Eden. Derek-It's fine i'm sure you will find something to watch they are my niece's. Eden rushes into the living-room and Derek gathers up the plates and Meredith follows him into the kitchen. Meredith-Thank-you for this. Derek-For what. Meredith-Dinner it's been ages since i actually enjoyed myself. Derek-Me too iv'e enjoyed actually being able to cook for others and not just a meal for one. Meredith giggles Meredith-Oh and for entertaining Eden she likes you. Derek-Good she's a fantastic kid. Meredith-Until she ends up all dark and twisty like me. Derek-Your not dark and twisty Meredith. Meredith-Thanks for the confidence but you don't know me that well everything i touch seems to fall to pieces my relationship with my mom my marriage being a parent everything. Derek-I think your fantastic Meredith. Meredith-Really. Derek steps towards Meredith and gently brushes the hair from her face and looks into her eyes he leans into kiss her but Meredith pulls away. Meredith-Derek i'm sorry i can't. Derek-No it was my fault i'm sorry. Meredith-Please don't apologise Derek if things were different if i wasn't in the middle of a divorce i'd kiss you back in a second. Derek-Meredith. Meredith-I just i can't complicate my life anymore than it already is please understand. Derek-I do i understand friends is good. Meredith-Eden wants to go on camp with the school. Derek-Really. Meredith-It's just 2 weeks away from me is a long time i'm not sure i'm ready for her to do that yet. Derek-Yet. Meredith-The whole 8 years of her life she has never been away from me i worked my shifts all around her so i was home at night. Derek-Camp is great though i used to love going. Meredith-You think i should let her go. Derek-Yeah i think she will love it and you will worry but will enjoy the break. Meredith-Ok i'll uh i'll think about it. Eden-Derek i can't get the dvd player to work. Derek-Ok just coming. Derek walks into the living-room as Meredith's cell starts ringing. Meredith-What do you want. Man-Where are you. Meredith-Why. Man-Meredith i'm getting a bit annoyed now it's been 5 weeks i want to see my daughter. Meredith-Maybe you should of thought about that before screwing around. Man-I said i was sorry. Meredith-Sorry isn't good enough. Man-Meredith just come home we can talk i'll change we can go to counselling. Meredith-No your not the man i married i don't think i even know you anymore or maybe even knew you. Man-Of course you knew me you married me. Meredith-I married the man i thought loved me who would never hurt me or betray me. Man-Meredith i'm a man i know i hurt you but i love you. Meredith-Did our marriage vows mean nothing to you. Man-Meredith lets not keep going over them. Meredith-You know i met someone. Man-What. Meredith-He is the most amazing man ever sweet caring he wouldn't hurt me. Man-What's his name. Meredith-It doesn't matter to you. Man-Of course it does your my wife. Meredith-I was your wife unless you forget we are currently getting divorced. Man-I won't sign the papers. Meredith-Fine then i will see you in court. Man-I want to see my daughter. Meredith-No she's confused enough as it is i'm not having you bitching and upsetting her even more. Man-Meredith babe you know you can't survive without me. Meredith-Oh i can believe me i can goodbye. Man-I'll find you eventully Meredith. Meredith-I don't doubt that so i'll see you soon. Meredith sighs and hangs up her cell she walks into the living-room and finds Eden snuggled into Derek's arms watching Enchanted. Derek-Everything ok. Meredith nods and sits at the other end of the sofa and watches the film. TBC |

When are we going to find out who is (or was) Meredith's husband. He sounds like a trouble-maker and the worst part is that Eden is Daddy's girl. I hope she becomes Daddy Derek's girl soon :snigger: More please! |

Derek look up to see both Meredith and Eden asleep they look so peaceful he doesn't want to wake them. He pulls a blanket over them and heads up to bed. A few hours later Meredith wakes up and for a second doesn't realise where she is her cell is vibrating in her bag she opens it up and sighs as she sees the name flashing on the screen she closes her phone and hears noise coming from the kitchen. She gets up and walks along to find Derek filling a flask with coffee. Derek-Morning. Meredith-Hey i uh i'm sorry we fell asleep. Derek-Don't be sorry. Meredith-Are you going to work. Derek-No i'm on day off. Meredith-Me too. Derek-We are going to see the sunrise hence coffee and the waking of Eden. Meredith-That won't be easy she hates getting up early she's just like her father. Derek-Oh i love the mornings best part of the day. Meredith-Iv'e decided i'm gonna let her go. Derek-Go where. Meredith-Camp i was talking too well he rang me last night and i'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time before he tracks me down. Derek-Are you worried. Meredith-No actually i'm not i'm immune to his promises now they go through me like an open drain. Derek-Are you ok. Meredith-Yeah i'm good anyway what time does this sun rise. Derek-In 22 minutes. Meredith-It will take me that to wake her up. Meredith laughs and puts her phone down and walks into the living-room. Derek follows as Meredith's phone starts vibrating on the table he glances down and sees the caller ID it makes him laugh as on the screen is ''asshole'' he walks in and finds Meredith trying to wake Eden who is having none of it. Derek-Can i try. Meredith-Be my guest. Derek leans down and whispers something to Eden and she is up and wide awake. Meredith-How did you. Derek-It's a trick i got from having so many nieces and nephews. Eden-Morning Mom. Meredith-Morning babe. Derek ushers them out of the house to the cliff just as the sun is coming up on the horizon. Eden-Wow Derek that is amazing. Meredith-It's beautiful. Derek-I try to come and see it everyday when i can it's just as good at sunset. Eden-Can we stay and see the sunset please Mom. Meredith-Oh i uh. Meredith looks at Derek who is smiling. Derek-It's absouetly fine. Meredith-Ok looks like we are staying but we have to go shopping today and i need to pop into your school. Eden-Eugh shopping i hate it. Meredith-Well unless we go shopping you can't go to camp. Eden-I'm allowed to go. Meredith-Yes. Eden-Aww brilliant thanks Mom. Derek-So do i get to see the Grey's girls shopping. Eden-You want to go shopping. Derek-Yes i have a few things to get. Eden-Daddy hates shopping he moans all the time about it. Meredith-Yeah but he always finds something to occopy his mind like eyeing up the women. Eden-What was that Mommy. Meredith-Oh nothing baby it's ok. Derek-I can drive if you like. Meredith-Well that would be a plan seeing as i don't have my car. Derek laughs and Eden pushes open the front-door. Derek-Is this ok me coming if it's too much or to fast just tell me to stop. Meredith-It's fine honestly. They eventully manage to get out of the house and Meredith goes to the school to pay for Eden's school trip but her card is declined. Derek-Let me get it. Meredith-No i have the money i just need to get to the bank. Derek-Let me do it then you can pay me back. Meredith wearily nods as Derek pays for Eden's trip and drives her to the bank. She heads inside and returns with a face of thunder as she meets Derek who is outside a clothes store watching Eden looking at clothes. Meredith-Here's the money thank-you. Derek-You ok. Meredith-He's frozen our joint account. Derek-What. Meredith-He's cleaned out the account everything he took all our savings the asshole i can't believe he would do that. Derek-Why did he. Meredith-Because he thinks it will make me go back but he forgets i have my own money more than enough to live on the rest of my life and death. Derek-The more you tell me the more i hate him. Meredith-If you knew him you'd hate him. Derek-You ok. Meredith-Yes i'm just i'm angry with myself with everything how can you misjudge someone so badly. Derek-It happens Meredith i did it. Meredith-If it was just me i'd walk away so easily but she adores her father she wants to see him she sees no fault in him. Derek-She will eventully. Meredith-I know and that's what i don't want to happen. Derek-I don't understand. Meredith-He's her father her idol she thinks he is the best i don't want her to see Mark's real side. Derek-Oh i kinda understand your theory. Meredith-I just want to hurt him so much but he is immune to everything. Derek-Meredith just i know it's easy for me to say but just calm down and forget him he clearly isn't worth getting yourself so upset. Meredith-I know he's not i just it's hard. Derek pulls Meredith into his arms and she holds him tight she feels so safe in Derek's strong arms. Derek-Better. Meredith-Yes thank-you. Eden-Mom come and see all these clothes iv'e chosen. Derek looks at Eden and the piles of clothes she has and laughs. Meredith-I'm sorry. Derek-For what. Meredith-You must think i'm a right miserable cow. Derek-No i don't think that. Meredith-I'm not usually like this just you met me at the worst time in my life. Derek-I like what i see but i know you need time and a friend and i'm here for you. Meredith-Really i just don't see why. Derek-Because i think your amazing i know that sounds cheesy but your amazing so today forget all about Mark and his behaviour and we will enjoy ourselves in this highly overpriced glass house they call a mall. Meredith laughs. Derek-Good a smile it's a start now we better go and sort through the clothes Eden wants to buy because i'm pretty certain you won't agree with a few items she has. TBC |

Meredith pays for all of Eden's clothes and they end up having lunch in a little cafe. Eden-I can't believe i'm gonna get to go on camp. Meredith-Me either. Eden-Will you be ok Mom. Meredith-Yeah sure. Eden-2 weeks on your own without me. Derek-She's not on her own hun i intend to give her plenty of surgeries. Meredith scrunches up her face as Derek winks at her. Meredith-I just gotta pop to the mobile phone shop you ok with Derek for a minute. Eden-Sure. Meredith walks off. Eden-You will look after my Mom for me. Derek-Of course i will. Eden-She doesn't like being on her own. Derek-I have noticed. Eden-I don't think she loves my Daddy anymore. Derek-Oh. Eden-He was bad and made her cry i didn't like seeing Mom sad but i love my Daddy. Derek-I understand that babe. Eden-Do you have a wife Derek. Derek-I did but we are divorced. Eden-I think Mom and Daddy are getting divorced what does it mean. Derek-Well um it basically means that Mom and Dad will live in different houses or in your parents case different states. Eden-Will i live with my Mom or Daddy. Derek-Your Mom. Eden-But i will get to see my Dad right. Derek-I uh yeah i think so but you really need to talk to your Mom about that. Eden-I know but she hates my Daddy and doesn't want to talk about him that's why we are here. Derek-Do you not like Seattle. Eden-I like it but i miss my Daddy and our old house it was really nice alot like yours and my bedroom was a princess room. Derek-I think once things settle down you will get to see you Daddy. Eden-My Mom likes you. Derek-What makes you say that. Eden-Because she is smiling i haven't seen her smile and laugh in ages. Derek-How do you feel about that. Eden-I'm ok with it i like you your funny. Derek-Thanks but at the moment Me and your Mom we are just friends thats all she's ready for. Eden-That's ok i just want my Mom to smile. Meredith-You want me to what. Eden-Smile more i like it. Derek-You get what you needed. Meredith-Yep a new cell for me and one for you to take on camp. Eden-Mom. Meredith-Honey please just indulge me. Derek-Actually i just need to get a new car charger be right back. Derek rushes off and Meredith sits with Eden. Eden-Mom i like that your happy. Meredith-Sorry babe. Eden-I like you happy when your with Derek you smile and are happy. Meredith-Oh. Eden-I like Derek Mom if you wanted to marry him i don't mind. Meredith-Marry him oh no babe we are just friends. Eden-I'm just saying if you did i don't mind. Meredith-Why thank-you baby but we are just friends good friends. Eden-Mom when can i see Daddy. Meredith-When you get back from camp i'll call him and sort out a visit. Eden-Really. Meredith-Yes really. Eden-Thanks Mom. Derek-We ready to go. Meredith-Yeah. They walk to the car and Eden dumps all her bags. Derek-So back to mine or your house. Meredith-How about my house and i can cook you dinner. Eden-Mom you can't cook. Meredith-Ok well i can order take-away. Derek-Sounds good lets go. They eventully arrive home and Meredith orders take-away. Meredith-Pizza. Derek-Pizza is good. The following week passes really quickly and before Meredith knows it she is standing outside the school waving Eden off to camp. She waits until the coach is out of view and climbs into her car and drives to the hospital. Derek-Hey did she get off ok. Meredith-Yeah what am i gonna do with myself. Derek-I'm sure you can find plenty to do. Meredith-Like what working and housework. Derek-Didn't you say you wanted to decorate Eden's room we can do that. Meredith-We. Derek-Yeah i mean i can help you. Meredith-Are you sure. Derek-Definetly sure. Meredith-Ok well i have to go and see my Mom and i'll get the paint. I mean i had decorators but they just do basic colours and i know Eden misses her princess room. Derek-Yeah she told me. Meredith-Really what else did she tell you. Derek-Not much. Meredith-You know she gave me her permission to marry you earlier. Derek-She did. Meredith-Yep what did she say to you. Derek-Just that she liked me and was happy i made you laugh and smile. Meredith-Oh right i uh better go and see my Mom. Derek-Your Mom you ok with that. Meredith-Possibly not maybe she might be having a good day today. Derek-I'll come by after i finish work. Meredith-Ok see you later. Meredith leaves the hospital and Derek scrubs in for surgery. Later that afternoon he has finished for the day and heads out Alex Cristina and Izzie are walking along the corridor. Alex-I just can't get it out of my head she seems so familar. Cristina-Will you just give it up. Izzie-Uh guys. Alex-I just iv'e seen her somewhere before i'm telling you. Izzie-Guys. Cristina-What Izz. Izzie-Is that who i think it is. Cristina-Oh my god is that. Alex-Mark Sloan i knew it i told you Meredith is Mark Sloans Wife i knew it. Mark-Excuse me. Cristina-Dr Sloan. Mark-Yeah hey blondie. Izzie-Uh hi. Mark-Listen can you tell me if Meredith Sloan is working here. Alex-Yeah dude you realise your like my idol right. Mark-Yeah thanks so Meredith Sloan. Cristina-Meredith Grey she works here. Mark-Grey yeah that figures is she here. Izzie-No she has the weekend off sorry. Mark-Do you have an address for her. Cristina-No sorry we don't. Mark-Dammit. Yup so Mark Sloan is Eden's Daddy and Meredith's husband. Now, does Derek know Mark in this fic? Things are getting intense in here and I look forward for Meredith's reaction to Mark's appearance. I must say, Eden thinks very maturely and reasonable for her age; I mean what kid would tell its mom to go be happy with a man that's not its father. Also funny how she calls Meredith 'mom' while she still goes with 'daddy' for a father... I think that really shows how attached she is to Mark. Update soon

Richard-I'm not giving you Meredith'd address Mark. Mark-Dammit she's my wife i have a right. Richard-From what i gather you lost that right when you cheated on her. Meanwhile back at Meredith's She and Derek have moved out all of Eden's furniture and are currently trying to paint the walls. Derek-Eden's very bright for her age. Meredith-Independant more like i just i bought her up to not rely on anyone other than herself. Derek-Oh. Meredith-I know thats bad but i had no-one growing up. Derek-I kinda understand. Meredith-She is my whole life you know but i fear sometime even i won't be there when she needs me. Derek-She adores you. Meredith-Yeah but she is besotted with her father worships the ground he walks on. Derek-Yeah i kinda guessed that with how she calls you Mom and still calls him Daddy. Meredith-I know she stopped calling me Mommy when she was about 6 she is very mind set knows what she wants the thing is i think she knows that Me and Mark are over. Derek-At 8yrs old i'd be devestated if my parents weren't together. Meredith-I thought she would be but she just she only said she wants me to be happy and she knows being with Mark i wasn't happy. Derek-She's an amazing kid Meredith. Meredith-Thank-you did you not want kids. Derek-Oh definetly one day hopefully but with the marriage ending like it did. Meredith-It was a bad divorce. Derek-It got messy put it that way. Meredith-How did it end your marriage. Derek-She cheated on me with my best friend my brother it broke me and tore my family apart so i know exactly what your feeling. Meredith-I'm sorry. Derek-Yeah me too sometimes she was my highschool sweetheart we married after graduation he was my best man. They swore it was just once but i found that hard to believe. Meredith-You shouldn't ever believe that it was only ever once with Mark. Derek-Anyway lets change the subject before we both end up getting severly depressed. Derek starts to paint the wall and silence falls between them. Meredith-Derek i just. Derek-Just what. Meredith-Being around you i feel all girly and stupid no-one not even Mark has ever made me feel that way. Derek-I wish i met you before. Meredith-Before Mark i can't say that because however much i hate him he gave me my beautiful girl. Derek-He doesn't deserve you. Meredith-Derek i'm sorry. Derek-Don't be it's not your fault just bad timing i need to go and clean these brushes. Derek walks out of the bedroom and Meredith follows him stopping him in the kitchen and kissing him taking him by surprise. Derek-Meredith. Meredith-I know i said just friends but i just i wanted to kiss you. Derek-I'm glad you did. Derek kisses Meredith back as the doorbell goes. Meredith-Who could that be. Derek-Ignore it they might go away. Meredith-No i'll be right back. Meredith walks into the hallway and her heart sinks to see Mark stood on the porch she drops the paint brushes in her hand. Derek-Meredith you ok. Mark opens the door. Mark-Hey baby. Derek-Sloan what the hell are you doing here. Mark-I could ask you the same thing. Derek-What. Meredith-You know Mark. Mark-How do you know Derek is he the bloke you met. Meredith-Derek please tell me he isn't. Derek-Meredith Mark is my ex best friend my ex brother who slept with my wife. Meredith-Mark you need to leave. Mark-Like hell i do Sheperd keep your hands of my wife. Meredith-Soon to be divorced wife. Derek-Meredith. Mark-Get the hell away from her. Meredith-Mark you need to leave i don't want you in my house. Mark-I'm not going anywhere i want to see my daughter. Meredith-Eden isn't here. Mark-Where the hell is she. Meredith-Camp i told you to get out of my house. Mark-No we need to talk Sheperd get lost yeah. Meredith-No i asked you to leave Derek is staying right here. TBC |
