Derek sat in the office of the New York Hospital with a contract in front of him waiting for the chief of surgery to arrive. “Dr. Shepherd” the chief of the hospital said as he entered the room “Chief” Derek greeted “So we have contract all drawn up for you. Though you have a higher position at Seattle Grace, we will match the offer and even exceed it. We have made a few changes in our funding to hopefully provide for you.” He said trying to be persuasive. “A two million dollar match salary with a one hundred thousand dollar signing bonus paid through the year.” The chief said “You will head of neurology and be in the line of becoming the next chief.” The chief said standing next to Derek who was sitting in front of contract, along with numbers that showed his salary if he would sign “So, what’s it going to be?” The chief asked. Derek looked at the papers one last time before standing up “I’m sorry, I can’t” Derek said “Though what you offer is a lot” Derek sighed “I have other things other than money and salary to worry about” Derek said “I have a family” Derek finished. “Derek this is a lot of money you could be making for your family.” The chief said a little confused of why Derek did don’t accept his offer “Still, I finally have the life I’ve always wanted, a family life. Things have finally settled down” Derek said “I’m sorry; I have to pass on the offer.” Derek said making his way to the door. “Dr. Shepherd, you are aware that a salary we are offering you doesn’t come often” The chief said “No amount of money can replace the fact that I haven’t been at home with my children for the past two weeks, or will ever make up for me missing part of my children’s lives by working across the country” Derek said “Well it’s your life” The chief sighed “And I love my life, just the way it is” Derek said as he left. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith waited at the airport gate for Derek to arrive. The plane had already landed roughly fifteen minutes ago. She left the babies at home with Cambria just to make it easier through the airport. She waited patiently and started to get bored and pulled out her phone and texted Derek asking where he was -Where are you? -I’m on my way, had to help a lady -You better not be bringing back any girls -Very funny…no I didn’t bring back a nurse -Good -I’m making my way down, should be there in 2 min and 16 sec -You’re a dork, But I love you -I love you too xoxoxo Meredith waited a little but longer and started to get annoyed that she had been waiting so long, it seemed like everybody else got off the plan other than Derek - D.C. Shepherd where the hell are you? Meredith texted “Right here” Derek said from behind her. Meredith turned around and smiled. “Hey” Meredith said with a smile “Sorry it took so long, I passed the gift shop and bought you this” Derek said handing her a bear holding a chocolate rose. Meredith smiled and he wrapped his arms around her. “I missed you so much” Meredith said softly. “Me too” Derek said giving her a kiss on her forehead. “Now let’s go get my luggage and get home, I miss my babies” Derek chuckled “Okay” Meredith said wit a smile as they walked hand in hand to the luggage. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Derek came home and sadly the babies were asleep. As badly as he wanted to play with them and hold them, he knew it was nap time and if they didn’t get their nap, they’d be cranky later on. “Mr. Shepherd, how was your trip?” Cambria asked “It was okay, but I passed on the job” Derek said with a grin “Well I better be on my way” Cambria said picking up her bag as she tried to head towards the guest house. “Oh, Cam, are you free tonight? Mer and I want to go out for dinner” Derek said “Sure, you two can go, I’ll give the babies their bathes” Cambria said “Oh no, what I meant was we are having a family dinner and we wanted for you to come along” Derek smiled “All her friends will be there and we’re bringing the kids” Derek said “I’d love too” Cambria said “We have reservations at 6 at Olive Garden, so we’ll leave around 5:30ish.” Derek said “I’ll be here” Cambria said as she left “Derek cleaned around the house while Meredith was filling out paper work and opening mail “Derek” Meredith called from the office. Derek walked to the office. “Yeah” He said popping his head through the door “Read this” Meredith said with a smile Derek took the letter from Meredith’s hands Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd, We are happy to say that you are invited to a special Oprah show featuring families with multiples. Please consider our offer and respond as soon as you can on whether you will or will not be participating. -The Oprah Show Productions “Wow” Derek said with his famous McDreamy grin “I know” Meredith giggled “Do you want to?” Derek asked “I mean it’s a once in a life time experience” Meredith smiled “So we’re going” Derek confirmed “Only if you want to” Meredith said “I want to do what ever you want to do” Derek chuckled “I married a dork” Meredith giggled “But you love your dork” Derek smiled leaning on the wall “Yes, you may be a dork, but you’re my dork” Meredith giggled giving her husband a kiss “We’re going to meet Oprah” Meredith smiled “Yes we are” Derek smiled “I guess we should contact them tomorrow then” Meredith said GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA A little while after Derek was packing the baby bag since they were going to go out for dinner. “Hey Mer, we are out of travel bibs” Derek said referring to the disposable kind they took when they ate out of the house with the babies “Are there any in the closet?” Meredith asked as she gave him extra baby clothes to pack in the bag “No, I’m going to go run out and get some” Derek said grabbing his car keys “I’ll be back soon” Derek said kissing her cheek and heading out the garage. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Derek returned later than he expected and came into the house to find his four children all crawling around the living room. “They woke up about five minutes after you left” Meredith said stepping across the baby gate so she could get Aaden of Emma’s back. “Hey guys” Derek said as he followed Meredith and sat down on the floor. Instantly the babies saw him and crawled towards him. Emma stayed behind sitting up in front of Derek and staring at him looking hesitant to come near. “Hey Lex, Aaden and Michael” Derek said giving them each a hug and a kiss. When Derek finished the babies stayed around him but Emma kept her distance. “Hey Emma” Derek cooed “It’s me daddy” He said trying to coax her to come to him she looked at Derek and crawled towards Meredith who was sitting next to Derek. “What’s wrong with you?” Meredith said picking her up “Didn’t you miss daddy?” Meredith said to the baby. She gently handed Emma over to Derek. Derek held her facing towards him. Emma stared at him and touched his face and smiled. “That’s my girl” Derek said kissing the baby’s forehead as Emma giggled GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Dinner went smoothly and they made it home around eight-thirty. The babies were pretty tired from the night’s liveliness after being passed around the table at Olive Garden. “So you turned down the job” Meredith said as they climbed into bed “I turned down the job” Derek confirmed “I told you I was going to. Mer, no matter how much money they offer me, nothing can replace having my family with me.” Derek said as she laid her head on his chest. “I love you” Meredith said softy “I love you too” Derek said And with those three words, they fell asleep. -- So I skipped ahead, I know. But I'm trying to move with the story. I already have the halloween update written but that will have to wait. Anyways please Review or Comment

I do enjoy reviews and constructive criticism, but if you don’t like the story or chapter don’t tell me my writing is a bunch of crap. Yes Meredith isn’t as Dark and Twisty and all that in this story, but I like happy Mer/Der. Anyway please do review. And if you guys care to read the rude review I got, they sent the review to chapter one reviews. Oh and I think I originally wrote the update for Oprah for November, but I’m updating more often now, so I guess I will go ahead and post this and then Halloween later. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Derek, are you sure we packed enough diapers?” Meredith worried for the twentieth time that morning as they were starting to pack for California. They were leaving for Oprah tomorrow and they needed to get stuff packed today, they’d never make it out the door tomorrow. “Yes Mer, plus if we run out, we can go buy some” Derek snapped “Don’t snap at me” Meredith said rolling her eyes as she laid out different outfits on the floor trying to decided what the babies should wear on the show. “Well if you would stop asking so many questions” Derek huffed “Well sorry for trying to make sure we have everything we need” Meredith said glaring at him before leaving the room. “Believe it or not Mer, I know what I’m doing” he shouted as she made her way out. Meredith rolled her eyes as she headed downstairs. “God I married an insensitive moron” Meredith mumbled as she entered the kitchen “Trouble in paradise?” Cambria smiled as Meredith walked in “For the past week, Derek and I can’t even stay in the same room with each other before starting to fight” Meredith said opening a bottled water and taking a sip “You two just need some space. You two work together and have a family together, maybe you two need a little alone time.” Cambria said “Alone time? Please like have time for that” Meredith giggled. “Why don’t you go out and run some errands. I’ll watch the kids, that way you and Derek can have time apart for a while.” Cambria said handing Meredith her car keys “Are you sure” Meredith asked “Yes now go” Cambria laughed ushering Meredith out of the kitchen. Meredith gave each baby a kiss on the forehead from the playpens and left. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Derek came downstairs thirty minutes later looking for Meredith. “Meri?” Derek said as he wandered downstairs and ended up in the kitchen. “She left about thirty minutes ago” Cambria said as she made the babies’ formula for their lunch. “Oh” Derek said as his face fell “She was mad and left?” Derek asked “Disappointed, not mad, and I told her to go do errands” Cambria said “She needed to get away.” Cambria said “From me” Derek sighed. “For the past week all we have done is bicker with each other” Derek said “We’re turning into one of those old couples” Derek said softly “No your not” Cambria laughed “You two just spend too much time together” Cambria said “We’re married” Derek said confused “And you two work together all day then spend all night together. You guys are going to get on each others nerves eventually” Cambria laughed as she handed Derek two bottles so he could help her with the babies lunch time. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith returned later after doing some errands. She got all the extra stuff they would need to bring to California and got some errands done that needed to be done so they wouldn’t have to worry over the weekend. She picked up a couple of new toys to keep the babies entertained on the plane and picked up a few magazines for her. When she entered the house Derek was watching TV on the couch as the babies slept in the playpens “Hey” Derek said getting off the couch to help her with all the bags she was carrying. “What time did they go down?” Meredith asked “Fifteen minutes ago” Derek said as they entered the office, where all their luggages were at the moment. “Listen, about earlier, I’m sorry about snapping at you” Derek sighed “it’s okay, this week has been crazy” Meredith said looking at Derek “Cambria says it’s because we work together all day and spend all night with each other too” Meredith sighed “That’s what she told me” Derek smiled “we’re turning into one of those boring bitter couples” He chuckled “The ones that fight all the time” Meredith sighed “That’s not going to be us” Derek said as he reached for Meredith’s hand, hoping she wouldn’t pull away. Meredith smiled and kissed him softly “Just promise me, that when I get on your nerves you will tell me” Meredith said “Promise” Derek said kissing her hand as they went into their bedroom. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “I have to say, make-up sex is the best” Derek said catching his breath “Hmmmm” Meredith said looking a the clock “We have to get up, the babies will be up from their nap soon” She said kissing Derek again “Hmmmm” Derek said handing her, her robe. They took a quick shower and changed before checking on the babies. Emma and Aaden were awake and playing with toys when Meredith and Derek came into the living room. “Hey guys” Meredith said picking up Aaden “Somebody needs a diaper change” Meredith giggled “So does this one” Derek chuckled. Meredith grabbed two diapers and they changed Emma and Aaden. Not long after, Alexis and Michael woke up and the family played in the playroom. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Dinner’s ready Mer” Derek called from the kitchen. Meredith came in after putting the babies to sleep. “Wow” Meredith said as she came in. Derek had made the dining room a candle lit dinner. “Join me?” Derek said pulling out her chair for her. Meredith smiled and sat down They started eating dinner. Derek had made Meredith her favorite meal, Alfredo with chicken and shrimp. They had a glass of wine and talked. “Ready for dessert?” Derek asked “Dessert?” Meredith said confused as Derek left the dining room and emerged later with a strawberry cheesecake. “Derek Shepherd what did you do wrong?” Meredith teased “I get my favorite dinner and dessert and a candle lit dinner?” Meredith said raising her eyebrow as he cut her a generous piece before cutting himself a piece “It’s an I’m sorry dinner, because I have been an ass all week long” Derek chuckled “Hmmm, yummy” Meredith said “We need to fight more often if I get this afterwards” Meredith giggled “I’d make you dinner like this every night as long as it put a smile on your face” Derek said “Wow Derek that was a cheesy line, even for you” Meredith giggled as she stood up and started to get the plates. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA After dinner, they loaded the van with the bags that were already set to go and would wait for the morning to pack last minuet stuff. “So are we all set?” Derek asked as he changed into his sleep boxers and climbed in to the bed with Meredith “I think so” Meredith yawned as she turned off the lamp, before burying her head into Derek chest. “Goodnight” She mumbled “I love you” “Love you too” Derek said softly GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA I know it’s short, but I need to split some things up into different updates. Posts: 397 Group: Interns Member #71 Joined: August 7, 2008	So I was looking at my STATS today and noticed I have lost a lot of reader HITS. Every week it seems to get lower and lower by roughly 75 readers. I still have about 400 left but I originally had around 900. But that doesn’t matter. As long as the reviews are still coming, I’ll keep posting, anyways enough of my ramble. Here is your update, I hope you enjoy and review when you’re done! GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith was running around the house like crazy. Cambria was being a help, but she was in the guest house, getting ready herself. They needed to be out of the hotel in thirty minutes to get to the airport on time. “Derek” Meredith said “Can you change the boys, they need to wear there baby jeans and their Polo Shirts.” Meredith said as she dressed the girls in their polo dresses. “Yeah yeah yeah” Derek said as he picked out to polo shirts and baby jeans from the nursery closet. After dressing everybody they all went downstairs. Meredith got her and Derek a mug of coffee for the car trip to the airport and was checking off her mental and note ad list to make sure everything was set. “Strollers, playpens, diapers, wipes, medications, Michael’s medication, teething medicine, teething rings, wipes, bibs, shoes, socks…” Meredith said out loud as she checked off her list “I think we have it all” Meredith said as she watched Derek pack their final bags into the Mini Van. “Okay so are we ready to leave?” Derek asked “Did you lock the front door?” Meredith asked “Yes mother” Derek said with a tease “Don’t push my buttons” Meredith said rolling her eyes “Okay then, I’ll get Cambria and we’ll load the kids” Derek said smiling as he kissed her cheek GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Derek can you check in the luggage, I need to change some diapers” Meredith said once they got in the airport. Derek nodded and Meredith went to bathroom with Aaden leaving Cambria with the three others. Soon everybody was set to go through airport security. “Sir, I’m going to need you to take off your shoes” The officer said bluntly to Derek. Derek followed protocol and took off his shoes. Meredith and Cambria each did the same. Then they each had to pass through with one baby, through the mental detector. “This is ridiculous” Derek mumbled as they tried to get the babies back into the carriers. “Sir its procedure” The officer said “Like my baby is going to be carrying a gun” Derek said sarcastically as they walked off to find their gate. “Now boarding flight 128” The attendant called on the speakers. “Meri” Derek said softly, as Meredith had fallen asleep while waiting “Time to board” He said as her eyes fluttered open. “Hmmmm” Meredith said standing up. Derek took Aaden and Alexis’ carrier while Meredith took Emma and Cambria took Michael, a flight attendant helped them get their carry on bags. “Derek, why don’t we alternate? Have you and the boys over by the window. Put Aaden next to the window since he likes to look at stuff then you in the middle then Alexis next to the Aisle. I’ll sit here next to me will be Emma and Cambria then Michael?” Meredith said “Mer” Derek said trying to get the car seats to work with the airplane seats. “Hold on” he said trying to click the belt through the car seat “Got it” he said once he installed the last car seat. They moved around quite a bit trying to settle everybody in. There weren’t a lot of people on their flight. Mainly it was just them and some business men here and there. Nobody was really near them to Meredith’s relief. She didn’t know how the babies would be around a whole bunch of strangers, or how embarrassing it would be if the babies were fussing the whole time. “Sir, will you and your wife please take a seat” The flight attendant said “The pilot is ready to get in the runway line, but we can’t until you two are settled in” she finished as she rested her hand on his shoulder “I’m sorry ma’am” Derek said giving her his McDreamy smile. Meredith raised her eyebrows and rolled her eyes. The flight was going well. Everybody except for Emma had fallen asleep, but Emma was content with playing with the mirror toy Meredith had bought yesterday. Derek had gone to the bathroom and hadn’t come back for a while but the sudden feeling of nausea made her leave her seat and all four babies with Cambria while she took a trip to the bathroom hoping to relieve the nausea sensation “Really, four sisters” The flight attendant said giggling “You must have had an interesting childhood” she said “It was great, growing up with siblings, though I wish I had a brother at times” Derek chuckled. Meredith couldn’t believe it. How could a brain surgeon be so brainless? Derek had a young blonde flight attendant flirting with him and he was just going along with it. “A guy like you must have had a lot of girls to keep him busy” the attendant said twisting her hair in her fingers “I had my share” Derek said leaning on the bathroom door “Ass” Meredith mumbled as she passed by him and went into the stall. Derek watched as Meredith entered the bathroom her face a bit pale, but her eyes all fiery green, which meant she was mad. “Well excuse me” Derek said “I need to check on my kids” Derek said with a smile “Family man too. You are quite a catch” She giggled as they parted ways Derek waited in his seat for Meredith to return, five minutes, then ten, then fifteen minutes passed and she still had yet to return. “Cam can you watch them for a second?” Derek asked. Cambria nodded. Derek made his way back to the restroom Meredith went into to hear vomiting through the door. “Meri” Derek's aid gently knocking the door “Are you okay?” he asked. He got no response but heard more, dry heaving. He slowly opened the door finding Meredith washing out her mouth. “You okay?” He asked softly rubbing her back but stopped when she stiffened. Meredith never stiffened to his touch “Are you okay?” “I’m fine” She said closing her eyes “Come on, you need to sit down. Are you feeling funny, you’re pale and vomiting” Derek said helping her to their seats “I’m fine, just go back to flirting with the flight attendant” Meredith mumbled as she sat down. “Somebody’s jealous” Derek said chuckling “Mer, I was just being friendly, and you have nothing to worry about, you’re the love of my life” He smiled lifting her chin. Meredith smiled “I’m sorry, I just hate it when girls throw themselves at you” Meredith said quietly “And I worry anytime I see a guy looking at you” He chuckled, getting a giggle from Meredith “Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked “Just a little dizzy and nauseated, must be from the altitude” She sighed. “Why don’t you try and nap” He said. Meredith nodded and reclined her chair a bit and closed her eyes. “Maybe you have motion sickness” He said softly as Meredith closed eye’s shut. Thirty minutes later Meredith woke up feeling much better. “How are you feeling?” Derek said as he held Alexis in his lap “Much better” Meredith said with a smile “Look Lex it’s mommy” he said facing Alexis towards Meredith. Alexis kicked her legs and giggled. Meredith stood up and moved to the aisle and took Alexis and went back to her seat “How’s mommy’s princess?” Meredith cooed at the baby “I see you just take my baby away fro me?” Derek said sarcastically “I don’t remember you being the one carrying her and pushing her out” Meredith giggled. The rest of the flight went well. The babies managed not to fuss much and they got all their luggage before being transported to their hotel in a limo, supplied by the Oprah show. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Shepherd” Meredith said at the front desk of the hotel. “Ah yes, two presidential suites.” The man said “Already paid for and reserved. Martin will help you on your way up to your rooms” The man said “Thank-you” Meredith said nicely with a smile After about five trips up and down the elevator, they had all their stuff outside of their room doors. “Cambria you want this one or the other suite” Meredith asked as she showed Cambria the inside of the suite that was open while Derek was clearing things up at the front desk about a shuttle to the studio. “I’ll take the other one. This one is easier for you guys to get to. It’s next to the elevator and ice machine room and all” Cambria said “Okay” Meredith said “Well, we better start unpacking before we go for dinner downstairs, I think Derek is making reservations” Meredith said “Al right see you then” Cambria said. Meredith brought the babies into the suite. It had two bedrooms, and indoor hot tub and a balcony. She let them play on the open floor space, which was like a living room while she opened the suit cases to get the necessities. “Mer, we have reservations at six thirty” Derek said as he walked into the room “Hey, can you change Michael, he just spit up in his outfit.” Meredith said as she put away items in the bathroom. “This room is nice” Derek said picking up Michael and trying to find the suit case with the babies’ clothes. “Two rooms, a mini bar, living space, Jacuzzi bath tub and an indoor hot tub” Meredith said winking at Derek when she told him the last part of her list. “Hmmm, you and me in the hot tub, together, indoors, naked” he said huskily into her ear as he passed by her. “Hey, no sex talk when you’re holding our kid” Meredith said with giggle GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Hello?” Derek said as he answered the phone. It was roughly six and they were trying to get ready for dinner. “Hello is this, the Shepherd Family?” The other lines asked “Dr. Derek Shepherd speaking” Derek said “Well I’m glad to hear you are here Mr. Shepherd. This is Oprah” se said “Oh yes, Hello” Derek said shyly “How is everything? Do you like the hotel?” She asked “Yes, it’s very nice of you and your crew to get us a nice place to stay” Derek said “You are the special guest of the show.” Oprah laughed “Anyways I’m here to call about some taping. We were wondering if we could send a camera crew to follow you around tomorrow to et some footage of what your almost typical day is like.” She said “I think that’d be okay” Derek said “We would like to start your day around nine” Oprah said “That sounds good, I still need to talk to my wife” Derek said “Do you have a number I can reach you or the crew at in case something comes up?” Derek asked pulling out a sheet of paper as Oprah gave him the number of the camera guy. “Okay see you later than” Derek said as he hung up the phone. She was dressing babies while Derek packed the baby bag. “Derek, could you hurry up, I still have to get dressed” Meredith said. Derek came over and took over while Meredith ran to the bathroom to get changed. Thirty minutes later everybody was set and they were out the door to head to make up for the show. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Now this next family is one that I find truly amazing. They had a set of quadruplets, two boys and two girls. Their father is a world renowned Brain surgeon and their mother is one of the best Residents in America. Together they managed to work, create their own medical theory and have a family. Please Welcome the Shepherd Family” Oprah said introducing the family. The babies were placed the floor with the toys laid out, while Meredith and Derek took a seat on the sofa next to Oprah. “Well Welcome” Oprah said with a big smile “We’re glad you could make time to be here” she finished “We’re glad to be here” Meredith said with a light giggle “Now what was it like when you first found out you were having four?” she asked “A shock” Derek chuckled “When the doctor said there was more than one, we were excited that we were having twins, but it turned out to be four” Derek said “We were both scared, both of us being doctors, we know the risks of these types of pregnancies.” Derek finished. “Did you ever during the pregnancy thought of the consequences of disabilities the children might have because they were high risk?” Oprah asked “We tried to stay positive and take things one step at a time.” Meredith said “So tell me who do we have here?” Oprah said looking at the baby who was sitting up in front of her looking at her. “That would be Alexis Faith” Derek chuckled as he watched Alexis examine Oprah “Now theses guys look pretty healthy. I mean from your story these babies are one of the good stories.” Oprah said “There weren’t many complications” she finished “We were able to a natural birth without a c-section. Though during delivery our doctor, Addison Montgomery made it clear that if one of the babies or Meredith were to go into distress or high heart rate, we would immediately go into a c-section, but everything went smoothly.” Derek said “So, up till now there haven’t been any big problems?” Oprah said amazed on how well their babies were. “The only thing is they all have weaker immune systems, which is common in multiples because they are born earlier and also Michael has a lung that is smaller than the other which makes him more prone to lung infections” Meredith said “So everybody let’s take a look into our cameras and see what a typical, well almost typical, day is like with the Shepherd Family.” Oprah said as they cut to the tv screen. After watching a couple of clips the audience was laughing. “So a day is quite full isn’t it” Oprah said “How do you two handle it all and still have a marriage out of kids.” Oprah asked “Well, we’d have to thank our Nanny Cambria. She’s always around when we need her. She watches the kids while my wife and I work” Derek explained “Also, we have to remember that we have to work together or else we’ll get no where” Meredith giggled “True” Derek chuckled “Do you have any plans for the future? Like more children?” Oprah asked raising her eyebrow “I think we’re done, for now at least” Meredith said “So more children isn’t completely out of the question” Oprah finished “Right now we have our hands full, but in the future, well see” Derek said “I can tell your hands are full” Oprah said as her assistant handed her a piece of paper. “Everybody listen to this. This is the Shepherd Family Schedule SHEPHERD FAMILY SCHEDULE 4:50am: Wake up 5:00am: Shower and get ready for work 5:20am: Check the nursery. Change Diapers of babies who are awake. 5:30am: Cambria comes in 5:45am: Head to the Hospital 6:30am: Babies usually awake. Diaper Change and Outfit Change 7:00am: Breakfast. Milk, Rice cereal mixed with fruit. 7:30am: Babies play in play pens/Clean up kitchen 8:00am: Tummy time on the floor 9:00am: Morning nap 9:00-10:00am: Wash bottles, prepare lunch 10:00am: Babies wake up. Change Diapers 10:30am: Walk or Tummy time (according to weather) 11:30am: LUNCH TIME 12:30pm: Tummy Time/ Play time 1:30pm: Meredith calls 2:45pm: Afternoon Nap 3:45pm: Wake-up. Change diapers and into clean outfits 4:30pm: Play in playroom. 6:00pm-7:00pm: Meredith and Derek come home 7:30pm: Dinner time 8:00pm: Bath time 8:30pm: Bed time 9:30pm: Take out trash and dirty diapers 10:00pm wash bottles, put out outfits for the next day. Restock diapers and wipes 10:45pm: Hospital Paper Work 11:30pm: Go to bed “So does everybody follow this plan?” Oprah asked “We started out without a schedule but we did the same things the same way everyday it turned into a routine.” Meredith laughed “So how tiring is it at the end of the day being surgeons and parents to four children?” Oprah asked “It’s very exhausting” Derek said “But at the end of the day it’s worth it.” He said “Well let’s give a hand to the Shepherd Family. We’re glad you made it” Oprah said smiling “It was our pleasure” Meredith said “And when we come back, a lady who had three sets of twins” Oprah said as they cut to commercial. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Today was their last day California. They were leaving the next morning. They had fun on the Oprah show yesterday which tired out the babies who had a long nap afterwards. So today they were going to the beaches and to the shops around the beach. Meredith and Derek walked hand in hand on the coastline barefoot. Cambria was watching the babies at the hotel because they were having their morning nap and Cambria insisted the Meredith and Derek have some alone time out around the town. “This is nice” Meredith whispered to Derek as they sat down on the sand. Derek was in a straddle position with Meredith sitting between his legs, both of them looking out into the ocean. It was a cloudy morning; the Coastline was expecting a light sprinkle throughout the day. Meredith and Derek were one of the few people at the beach. “Just the two of us” Derek said softly as Meredith leaned back against him “Just the two of us” She repeated “Why don’t we go grab a cup of coffee and head for the shops?” Derek suggested noticing the sprinkle getting a little heavier. Meredith nodded and they made their way to the rental car and headed towards the closest Starbucks. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Soon it was time to head back to the hotel. The babies were taking their nap, and Cambria was in her own suite. Meredith and Derek laid on the floor in each others arms making out by the fireplace of their hotel suite. “We should start using our fireplace at home” Derek said in-between kisses “Hmmm” Meredith moaned. He started to lift her shirt up but Meredith stopped him “What?” Derek asked kissing her again. “Our children are in a playpen right over there. I’m not going to traumatize them with our loud sex” She giggled “Speak for yourself, you are the loud one” Derek chuckled “Really” Meredith said raising her eyebrow “You could be a bit quieter” He said kissing her neck “Or maybe I should just stop making noises all together” Meredith said in a serious tone, but with a smile on her face. “Oh no, I love it when you make noises. It’s very sexy” Derek said lifting up his wife and carrying her to the bedroom next to the sofas. “I don’t think I could stop” Meredith said as he laid her down on the bed “The things you do to me Derek Shepherd” Meredith said softly as he kissed her collar bone. Then right on cue Alexis started to cry. “I’ll get her” Derek said as he got off the bed “You just don’t want mommy and daddy to have play time do you Lex?” Derek cooed at his daughter who just smiled back “Somebody needs a diaper change” Derek said handing Alexis to Meredith so he could get diapers and wipes. “You might have ruined mommy’s fun, but I still love you” Meredith said causing the baby to laugh. After dinner and playtime with the babies, they called it a night. Meredith and Derek packed the luggages and got ready for their trip to the airport the next morning. Her mother in law and sister in laws were all coming over to their house for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was still four days away, but Derek’s mom felt the need to spend quality time with Derek and the babies. Sure she and Mrs. Shepherd got along, but there has always been some tension. After all, Nancy first told her mother than Meredith was an adulterous whore out for Derek’s money. Derek was heading towards the airport, and Cambria had flown out of town for the week to spend the Holiday with her Family out in Florida. So she was all alone in the house trying to tidy up and prepare the guestroom. Derek’s sisters were going to stay at the hotels with their children and husbands. They didn’t want to move all of Cambria’s stuff out of the guest house so Derek’s mother was going to end up across the hall from the nursery. Meredith was cleaning like a mad woman as her children slept upstairs. She looked up at the clock and realized the flight should be in, which mean Derek and his family would be back in about an hour, since they had bags to claim and lots of people to load into vans plus driving through downtown out to the middle of nowhere took a while to drive to and from. She decided to take a shower and change her clothes then go and get the babies ready for the arrival of their grandma and their aunts, uncles and cousins. “Hey guys” Meredith smiled as she entered the nursery to find them all sitting in their cribs. “Guess who’s going to be staying all week?!” Meredith said trying to sound cheerful. “Grandma!” She smiled. She dressed the babies all alike, the girls with pink onesies that had their name on the front and their birth order number on the back, and the boys in the same onesie, but in blue. She put the girls’ hair into a baby pony tail that sat right at the top of their heads because their hair wasn’t long enough and made sure they all had dry diapers. She brought them downstairs and placed them on the floor with a couple of toys while she finally sat down and turned on the TV trying to catch the last bit of the morning news. An hour had passed and Meredith was wondering what was taking so long so she decided to call Derek. “Hello?” Derek said with the bustling sound of the airport in the background “Derek” Meredith said “Where are you?” She asked “The flight was delayed back two hours, there’s a blizzard in New York and they grounded the plane, but their up in the air now. The airlines say two hours.” Derek finished “Two hours! Derek are you coming back?” Meredith asked “I think I’ll stay here. Their luggage is already here oddly” Derek said. I think I have all their bags pulled, so when they land I think we can get out of the airport pretty quickly” Derek said “Okay” Meredith sighed “I’ll see you in a little while I guess” Meredith said “Is everything okay at the house, you sound tired” Derek said “I am. I cleaned up this morning and I got the babies dressed and everything but by the time you guys get here, they’ll be cranky or already napping” Meredith sighed. “Well try to keep them awake, but if they’re tired, put them down.” Derek said “But your mom would want to see them when she got here” Meredith said “And I don’t want to start out on a bad foot for her vacation here. It is the holiday season” Meredith said “She’ll understand” Derek said “Well I have to go, Aaden’s crying. Talk to you later?” Meredith asked“I’ll call when they get here and give you a heads up” Derek said GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA After about an hour and a half of sitting in the airport Derek heard somebody call his name from behind the gate. “UNCLE DEREK!” he heard his nieces and nephews yell as they practically ran and attacked him “Hey guys” Derek said trying to stay standing as they all tried to hug him at once “Derek my boy” said Derek’s mom Megan. “Mom” Derek said with a smile giving her a hug “It’s so good to see you” He said. After giving each of his sisters a hug and kiss on the cheek, and a manly hug to his brother in-laws they checked to make sure everybody had all their luggage’s and carry on bags before figuring out how to load the vans. “So do you guys want to head to the house first or check in at the hotel?” Derek asked “Why don’t we check in and dump all of our stuff at the hotel first” Nancy suggested. “Good idea. Mer and I want to go out for dinner tonight if guys don’t mind” Derek said “She can’t cook us a meal, I mean we only come here once a year” Nancy muttered “Hey, you just got her and you are already trying to insult her. And she’s been busy this morning and afternoon. She cleaned the house and had to watch all the babies by herself, our nanny is out in Florida” Derek said “Can you guys just try and be nice” Derek asked “Fine” Nancy muttered GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “We’re here” Derek said as he opened the front door to the house. He was surprised to hear giggling in the kitchen. The kids immediately started to roam around while the adults followed Derek to the kitchen where Meredith was feeding the babies, who were laughing. “Hey” Meredith said noticing their presence. “Well it looks like you guys enjoyed your afternoon with mommy” Derek said kissing each of the babies’ foreheads then kissing Meredith’s cheek. “Nancy, Kathleen, Grace, Sophia, and Mrs. Shepherd it’s so nice to see you guys again” Meredith said as she stood up “Meredith how many times do I have to tell you, you can call me Megan or mom” Mrs. Shepherd said with a smile. “Was the flight okay?” Meredith asked as she picked up Alexis and Emma and Derek picked up the boys and went into the living room “Crazy and confusing as usual” Sophia laughed as they sat in the living room. Meredith and Derek placed the babies on the floor, who sat up and looked at the strangers “My goodness they have grown” Megan said “They’re faces have changed too” Grace said “They change almost everyday” Meredith smiled as she leaned back against Derek who rubbed her back, reassuring her that everything would be okay. “They used to all look alike but the boys are starting to look differently than the girls” Kathleen said “They all have the Shepherd’s eye though” Megan said as they all laughed about how all the grandchildren had the same piercing blue eyes, whether or not their other parent had brown eyes or green. They all went out to dinner, which went pretty well, at moments there was an awkward silence but it went pretty well. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Good night mom” Derek said as he lead his mom to the guest house “If you need anything you can press one on the phone, it calls the main house” Derek explained “Night dear, tell Meredith I said good night” Megan said as Derek left “Dinner wasn’t so bad” Meredith said as they turned out the lights and snuggled closer together in bed “It went rather well” Derek said “I told you, they love you” Derek said as he nuzzled her neck. “This is just the beginning” Meredith muttered as she drifted into a deep utter slumber. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got this update up pretty quickly But anyways please review!

She got dressed and ready and checked the baby monitor, which showed four sleeping babies. She put on a little bit of make-up and checked her text messages from Izzie that said HAPPY THANKSGIVING! across the screen, and then decided to find Derek. “Derek you are doing it wrong” Megan whined as Meredith came in “Well there’s my sleeping beauty…or should I say snoring beauty” Derek said kissing her cheek “Ha ha ha Very funny, Ass” Meredith mumbled as she got her coffee “Morning Megan” Meredith said “Oh Good Morning dear, don’t mid Derek he’s being a pain in the butt” She said “You might as well just take a knife and stab me in the heart” Derek said sarcastically “Ass” Meredith and Megan mumbled which caused them both to laugh Derek sighed and returned to shopping Onions for his mother who was getting ready to throw the turkey in the oven “I’d offer to help, but I’m no use in the kitchen” Meredith said “There is no such thing as useless” Megan said “Help Derek cut the onions” she said “Sure” Meredith said as she jumped on the counter next to the cutting board, where Derek was chopping onions “I thought you were supposed to be helping me” Derek chuckled “I am, I’m giving you something pretty to look at” Meredith giggled “And by the way, the pink apron is so hot” Meredith said whispering in his ear. “Enough you two, if you want dinner on the table I suggest you get to work” Megan smirked as she took the onions Derek had diced. Meredith giggled and Derek rolled is eyes “Alright you two, start making the stuffing” Megan laughed which was cut by the cries of a baby. “Looks like I have to go” Meredith said giving Derek another kiss before jumping off the counter to tend to the children. “I’ll be up when you’re ready to bring them down” He said as she walked up the stairs. “You are really lucky you found that girl” Megan said as she diced another onion “I know” Derek smiled “But as I recall, you weren’t always too fond of her” Derek chuckled “But she’s more than what Nancy first said when she got back from visiting you” Megan smirked “Just don’t screw this one up” she said ruffling her sons hair “Hey! Watch the Hair!” He whined “Oh grow up” Megan laughed GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Do it again Em” Meredith smiled as Derek watched from the doorframe, not wanting to ruin the moment. Emma was sitting up and playing with a baby boom box toy and wiggling her body, which made it look like she was dancing “I was wondering what was taking you so long” Derek said as he entered the room sitting next to Meredith “Emma was showing off her dancing skills” Meredith said giving him a kiss “I saw” Derek smiled as Emma crawled into his lap, which made the other three, crawl towards their parents. “Alright you guys, are you ready to go downstairs?” Derek asked as he picked up Emma and Alexis and Meredith carried the boys. They went downstairs where Megan was still working on dinner, so Meredith and Derek put up the baby gate, and let the babies crawl around the living room floor. Derek turned on the TV as they watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. After an hour, the babies were getting fussy and Derek decided to go get their bottles and their breakfast, while Meredith brought them into the breakfast room and put them in their highchairs. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Soon enough, dinner time rolled around and the Shepherd family came over to Derek and Meredith’s house. The adults were seated in the formal dinning room and the kids in the breakfast room. “Alright everybody” Megan said “Mom come on were already old” Kathleen whined as she knew what her mother was going to say “Traditions are traditions, know I’ll start” Megan said “I’m thankful that all my children, their spouses and their children are healthy and happy.” Megan said They went around the table and came to Meredith “Oh I uh”” Meredith rambled looking at Derek who gave her a nod and a warm smile “I’m thankful for all of you, for being my family, and for Derek and for being so lucky with the quads” Meredith said “And I’m thankful for Meredith, who saved my life from an endless pit of misery” Derek said “And of course, my mother” Derek said smiling at his mother “Now my sisters, that’s a different story” Derek chuckled which earned him a glare from his sisters and a playful hit on the arm from his mother “Derek Shepherd, don’t start” his mother laughed “Alright everybody dig in” Megan said as she allowed Derek to carve the Turkey. Dinner was going rather well, there were stories from the past that Meredith laughed at because of Derek’s youth stupidity. Of course it wasn’t long that they were hearing screams from the breakfast room where the children ate. When they walked in there was food laying everywhere, even on the walls. But of course all that mattered is that they were all together for the holidays. The babies woke up after their late nap, which Meredith knew she would regret since they wouldn’t go down easy tonight unless they tired them out. So the babies were passed around and played with for the night. The babies played on the living floor while the adults drank their coffee in the living room and the kids played upstairs in the game room. “So who’s taking us shopping tomorrow?” Megan asked sarcastically looking at Derek “OH my gosh Derek Black Friday Shopping” Nancy said causing all his sister’s husbands to groan “What’s so bad?” Derek asked “What do you mean what’s so bad?” Doug, Nancy’s husband said “It’s the day after Thanksgiving when everything goes on sale and women go on a shopping spree and leave us, the husbands, at home with the kids all day” he said rolling his eyes. “Meredith do you go black Friday Shopping?” Megan asked “No” Meredith said shyly “Well we’re taking you tomorrow” Sophia said “You have no idea what you are missing!” She said as her husband rolled his eyes. “I don’t know, leaving Derek with all the babies is a handful” Meredith said “Non-Sense, everybody will go!” Megan said “It’ll be a fun time” Megan said “But mom won’t it be hard. I mean the kids could get lost” Doug said to his mother in law “Not if you know how to keep you children near by and under control” Megan said “I guess we can go” Derek said looking at Meredith for approval. She just leaned into his arms and nodded “Good pick us up around four?” Kathleen said which made Meredith’s eyes go wide “Four?” Meredith said “Isn’t that a bit too early?” She asked “We have to get in line at the mall and the ads have been saying that doors open at five” Kathleen said “I guess” Meredith said nervously “Looks like we’ll have an early morning” Derek chuckled knowing Meredith wasn’t a morning person plus getting him, Meredith and all four babies ready, he had to pick up his family and lead the vans to the mall in the crazy shopping traffic. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith lay in the bed exhausted after the Thanksgiving festivities. She had just put the babies down and taken a shower while Derek cleaned up the living room. “You better sleep” Derek said as he climbed into the bed where Meredith was waiting for him “You didn’t have to wait up for me” He said turning off the lamp “But I did” Meredith said as she fell asleep in his grasp. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Sorry it’s up so late, but with Thanksgiving and Holiday Shopping this update never got done. But things have slowed down a bit and I think I’ll have the next update by Sunday at the Latest. Again, sorry it’s up late. Posts: 397 Group: Interns Member #71 Joined: August 7, 2008	“Good Morning” Derek said as he woke his wife up with a kiss “Umph” Meredith moaned as she rolled over trying to go back to sleep “If you don’t want to go, I’ll just call my mom” Derek said “I’m going, just get the babies ready” Meredith said “Already did, in fact, Emma and Michael were already up” Derek said, they are waiting for you in the living room” Derek said as he kissed her forehead “Alright, do you think it’s smart to go shopping on this crazy day with the babies? I hear people can be hostile” Meredith said getting up and moving to the bathroom. “Don’t worry, your knight and Shining amour will save you” Derek chuckled “Who, Patrick Dempsey or Brad Pitt?” Meredith giggled “Very funny” He said as he left the bathroom to get two mug of coffee ready so they’d be able to leave once Meredith was ready. “Did you pack the baby bag?” Meredith asked “I packed two. One to take in the mall, and another in the car in case we need more” Derek said “Strollers?” Meredith said checking off her mental list “Yes” Derek said handing her the mug of coffee “Formula and teething rings” Meredith asked “Mer, I did follow the list” Derek said referring to Meredith’s list on the refrigerator of things to check off in the baby bag “Then let’s go” Meredith said picking up Aaden and Emma and walking to the garage They loaded the babies into the car, who were now back asleep, and Derek checked the car seats, as he always did while Meredith adjusted their light jackets. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA They drove the vans towards the mall, Meredith, Derek, Megan and the babies in the mini van and then the rest of the family divided into three of three of the ‘Jon and Kate Plus Eight’ vans Derek had rented for his family’s stay. They waited outside where there was a large crowd waiting to get in. “Derek I think we should put the blankets on the babies, the wind is starting to pick up” Meredith said looking at the strollers. “Mer, the doors will open in five minutes” Derek said “Fine, but if they get sick, you get to take care of them” Meredith warned “Yes dear” Derek smirked “I’ll take the girls, you take the boys” Meredith said “Use the Masters card today” Derek said “There’s no balance on it” He said. “Look they are about to open” Kathleen said shifting her son in her arms The manager unlocked the door and the mob of people went running to the doors as Meredith and Derek tried to push the strollers through. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “What should buy for Daddy?” Meredith cooed at the girls who were now awake. She, Derek and the family had started out at Macy’s together but soon got separated. Meredith was shopping around for little things, stuff for the house, for the babies, and some gifts. She was currently in the Polo Factory looking for something to buy Derek. “Do you like this one?” She asked the girls holding up a polo shirt “or this one?” she asked holding the other. Emma just gurgled and Alexis smiled “I think we should get both too” Meredith smiled holding onto the shirts to pay for later. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Alright boys why don’t we go get your mom and meet her for lunch up in the food court?” Derek said pushing the stroller as he pulled out his cell phone “Hey Mer” Derek said as she picked up her phone “Hey” Meredith said “You want to meet me and my boys in the food court for lunch?” Derek said “I don’t go on lunch dates with men who have children” Meredith giggled “Very funny” Derek said “By the fountain?” Meredith asked “I’ll grab a table there and then we’ll decide on what to eat” Derek said GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith made her way to the food court where Derek was sitting with the boys “Hey” Meredith said as she pulled up with the stroller next to them “Hey” Derek said kissing her cheek “How are my girls?” He said giving Alexis and Emma a kiss on the head “What do you want to eat?” Meredith asked “Salad” Derek said “Derek this a food court in the mall, I doubt there are any salads here.” Meredith laughed “Well what do you want?” Derek asked “A Charley’s Cheese stake with bacon and cheese fries” said Meredith “Split it with me?” Derek asked “They’re pretty long” Derek said “Fine, just the sandwich not the fries” Meredith said “, and get me a Sweetened Ice Tea?” “Yes dear” Derek said leaving to go to Charley’s Cheese Steaks Derek returned later with all the orders, while Meredith was feeding the girls as the boys drank their bottles. “Half a Cheese Steak for you, a Sweetened Iced Tea, and cheese and bacon fries” Derek said putting the food in front of her “Thank-you” Meredith said giving the girls their bottle “So I see you have a lot of bags” Derek said taking a bite of his sandwich “What did you get?” “Oh just some things for the house, jackets for the kids and some Christmas gifts” Meredith said “For whom?” Derek asked “Christina, Izzie, George and you” Meredith said. Derek reached over to the girls stroller trying to get one of the bags “No peeking!” Meredith said slapping his hand away “What’s in the coach bag?” Meredith asked “A gift for you” Derek smirked “But now, you can’t see it” Derek said as he mocked his wife GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA After lunch the parted ways again, Meredith went to pick out angels from the angel tree while Derek went with his brother in laws to stores with electronics and stuff. “Aunt Meredith” little Nicole said as she bumped into Meredith at The Children’s Place “Nicky, where’s your Mommy?” Meredith asked referring to Kathleen “Buying stuff bro the boys” She said referring to her toddler twin Brothers “Well you really shouldn’t be wandering the store alone” Meredith said taking her hand and leading her around the store to find Kathleen. “NICOLE!” Kathleen said relieved when she Meredith with Nicole “Don’t you ever wander off like that again” Kathleen scolded “Thank you so much Meredith” she said graciously. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA The men were at Sharper Image. Derek had the boys and his brother in-laws had their younger sons with them too. “Hey Derek come check this out” Said Doug as he tried to get Derek’s attention “Boys stay right here” Derek said covering them with a blanket as they slept in the corner of the store with other strollers of dads who were looking at things. “Nice” Derek said as he called over to Doug who showed him the newest flat screen TV “I should buy it for the basement in New York” he said “Yeah, but then our wives would get mad when we don’t come back upstairs” said Dave, the other brother-in-law. “We better get out of here before we start buying the whole store” Derek chuckled grabbing the double stroller as he led the men out of the store. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA They decided to end their shopping trip with a stop at the mall Ice Cream parlor for a mid day snack before heading to the hotel so they got get the kids to nap or whatever, before they went out for dinner. “Hey” Meredith said as she say Derek at the Parlor who as writing down the orders of his nieces “I’ll be right back” he said motioning that the boys were sleeping in the stroller still. Derek brought back the ice cream he took a seat away from the family where Meredith was with the girls at a bench by the fountain. Meredith had a tired look on her face as she yawned “Tiring day?” Derek asked “Very” Meredith said before they heard a cry from the boys’ stroller “I’ll check” she said leaning over to take off the blanket “Derek” Meredith said with a shaky voice “Where are the boys?” Meredith asked panicky “In the stroll…” he said realizing what she meant as he looked in the stroller “I don’t remember having four girls” Meredith said not sure what to do “WHERE ARE MY BABIES!” She hissed at Derek, who was looking confused and shocked as he stared at another pair of twin girls in the stroller, realizing when he left the sharper image store he took the wrong stroller… GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGA Took longer than I thought but I updated and yes this scenario probably couldn’t have happened for real, but it’s interesting and funny in a sense. Posts: 397 Group: Interns Member #71 Joined: August 7, 2008	Megan was enjoying Ice Cream with her grandchildren when she heard the shouting of Meredith and looked over to see her practically hitting him in the head with a magazine ad calling him a ‘stupid ass’ “Dear what’s wrong?” Megan said coming over standing between the two. “Ask the ass” Meredith mumbled “Derek?” Megan said turning to her son “I lost the boys” Derek said “What do you mean they are right there…?” She said realizing hat had happened “I don’t remember having four grandaughters from you” Megan said trying to lighten the mood “This isn’t funny” Meredith said glaring at Derek who was slightly chuckling “Right sorry” Derek said immediately stopping “What do we do?” “Go to the mall security office” Megan said “They should know what to do” GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Hello” A lady greeted Meredith, Derek and Megan as they walked in with both strollers “How may I help you?” she asked “my came is Candy” she said standing up o shake each of their hands “Tell her” Meredith said still angry “Well early with the big crowd and all while I was shopping with my twin boys,” Derek mumbled “I kind of took the wrong stroller and I noticed, these weren’t my boys” Derek said lifting the cover off the other stroller to reveal the two twin girls “Oh my” she said realizing what had happened “I’m going to call the head manger” she said dialing the phone “Please take a seat” in this waiting area. Candy went out of the office to the manager’s office to consult her with the problem, after about thirty minutes, Derek had called Mark to take the family home. So now it was just Derek, Meredith and the four baby girls. “Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd I have some good news” Candy said after an hour of waiting as she entered the room followed by another man with another stroller with Aaden and Michael in them “My Boys” Meredith smiled as she stood up and walked over to the boys who smiled at their mother. “Thank-god I found you” The man said shaking hands with Derek “I’m Nathan” he said “Derek” replied Derek “You have no idea, I’m so sorry for the mix up” he said checking on his girls “Me too, we should have paid more attention” Derek laughed “I’ve been running around the mall like crazy looking for my girls” Nathan said “Their mother would have divorced me by now if she knew” Nathan laughed “Thanks a good idea” Meredith said “Thank-you Nathan, I’m Meredith, The wife of the Dumb Ass” Meredith said referring to Derek who rolled his eyes “Don’t you dare roll your eyes at me” Meredith snapped GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Yes mom the boys were fine, in fact smiling when we got them” Derek said chatting on the phone with his mom as they drove home for a quick shower and change before going out with the family for their final dinner together. “Yes mom, Meredith did not beat me to death” He chuckled before Meredith grabbed the phone out of his hand “I’m still considering divorce” She told Megan “Hey give me the phone back” Derek chuckled as he tried to snatch the phone from her “Both hands when you drive” Meredith lectured Soon they were home and the babies were still wide awake. So they put up the baby gates in the living room so Meredith could redo t baby bag for dinner while Derek showered. Derek returned after his shower to find Meredith asleep on the living room floor, while the babies were playing with their mom’s hair and face as she slept. “Hey that’s not nice guys” Derek chuckled as he pulled them off of her “Mommy’s tired she had a long day” Derek smiled. “I’ll be right back, let Daddy take mommy to bed” Derek said gently picking up Meredith and taking her to the bedroom, only stumbling on the baby gate on how to jump over it, without disturbing Meredith. “Mmm, is it time to go?” Meredith mumbled as Derek placed her on the bed “Shhhh, you go back to sleep, we have about two hours before we have to leave” Derek said in hushed tones covering her with the blanket and kissing her on the cheek. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Dinner went rather well that night. Of course it was a little sad that Derek’s family would leave in the morning. “I wish we could keep more in touch with my family” Derek sighed as he laid in their bed. “Well, what can we do? We live all the way across the country” Meredith said putting on her ratty old Dartmouth shirt as she climbed into the bed next to Derek. “Well you know, New York has a lot of benefits to it” Derek said “Better pay, seeing the recent offer I got, plus more flexible schedules” Derek said “because they have a bigger staff than SGH” Derek said causing Meredith to have a concerned look. “What are you trying to say?” Meredith asked “I think we should consider moving east, closer to my family” Derek said. Meredith just stared at him “What about Seattle?” Meredith asked “Our friends, this house, our jobs, my family?” Meredith asked “Technically they aren’t your family” Derek pointed out, now that the conversation was becoming sour. “What are you trying to say” Meredith said raising her tone to match his “That, maybe we should be closer to my family, the kids only real family” Derek said raising his voice again to over power hers. Meredith was fuming now, but didn’t want to wake the kids with their screaming so she just got out of the bed, put on her robe and walked out. Meredith walked upstairs to the extra bedroom and locked the door, not wanting him to come upstairs later and try to make things better because he “did not realize he was being an ass”. She laid in the bed looking out the window at the stars. Out where they lived on the land had a clear view of the stars. She thought about what Derek had said. Sure it was nice having the family around. it was fun and had a home like feeling being around the. But Seattle was home. She had grown up here, had support from friends and family. They had built a home together here and a life together here. But then again, the way being around Derek's family felt was something else. Derek felt guilty around three in the morning. He did want to be closer to his family, but moving across the country is a big deal. It meant leaving their friends in Seattle that had become family. They were family. He knew he shouldn’t have said they weren’t because when he couldn’t be there for Meredith, Christina and Izzie were always there to support her. He rolled out of bed, he couldn’t sleep, not mad at her, not in the middle of a sour fight. He looked in the living room and saw no signs of her sleeping on the couch. He walked upstairs and looked into the nursery hoping she was in there, but she wasn’t. But Emma was wide awake in her crib sitting up looking at her father who had walked in. “Hey princess” Derek whispered as he gently lifted her out of the crib and walked to the window and sat on the rocking chair. “Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” He said as he cradled her in his arms. Though the babies were already seven months Derek still rocked them in the same position he had when they just came home. He cradled them instead of having their heads over his shoulder. “You are so beautiful and perfect, just like mommy” Derek said “You even have the same glow as she does in the moonlight. Daddy, made mommy sad and mad” Derek said in a calming tone “Daddy just wants to be closer to his mommy, just like how you guys like to be close with mommy” Derek chuckled “But, Seattle in home” he said “This is where I met the love of my life, your mommy. This is where she built me a house of candles; this is where mommy and I startled a life together.” Derek said. He sat there for a little while with his daughter in his arms rocking her back to sleep while staring out into the moonlight. Once Emma was asleep he placed her back in the crib and walked out of the nursery to find his wife. The only place left was the guest bedroom down the hall from the playroom. He regretted having so many bedrooms built, and of course she would be in the last one he looked in. Derek tried to open the door but it was locked “Mer” Derek said gently knocking the door but there was no answer. So after thirty minutes of knocking on the door Derek grabbed a blanket and pillow from the other room and slept outside of the door. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith woke up the next morning looking at the clock to see that it was about time to get up if they were going to take his family to the airport on time. She made the bed and put her robe back on and opened the door not seeing Derek sleeping on the floor and tripped on him causing her to fall. “SHIT” Meredith said holding her head where she hit it on the corner of the wall “HUMPF” Derek said as Meredith tripped over him but his concern went mainly to Meredith who was on the floor holding her head which looked to be bleeding “Oh my gosh Mer, I’m sorry, is it already six?” He said looking at his watch as he went over to her “I came here to apologize to you last night, but the door was locked so I wasn’t going to sleep in our bed alone” he said rubbing her back as she turned away from him. “Agh” Meredith said as she touched her cut “Let me take a look” Derek said picking her up and taking her to the bathroom to get the first aid kit. “We have to clean it Mer” Derek coaxed trying to get Meredith to lift her hand off so he could put alcohol on hit. “It’s going to hurt” She mumbled “Just look at me” Derek said as his blue eyes met her green ones. Meredith saw how sorry and bad he felt in his eyes. There was something about each other that they could tell how the other was feeling just by looking at their eyes. “See didn’t hurt” Derek said showing her the blood on the cotton ball that he used to clean her cut. He placed a Band-Aid on her cut a kissed her forehead “I’m sorry about last night” He said pulling her into his arms and off the bathroom counter “I’d like to be closer to your family, but Seattle…” Meredith said “Is home” Derek finished “So are we good?” Derek asked holding her hand as they made their way to the nursery. Meredith just turned to him and kissed him softly on the lips “We’re good” She said. GAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGA Derek’s family left town and Derek and Meredith took the kids to the park after the airport. They enjoyed some family time before heading to work the next day and before the busy trauma life of Neuro surgeons during the Christmas season. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA I’m such a bad person. Sorry I left you guys hanging but life got in the way of writing. But the next update will jump to Christmas time. Again I’m so sorry the update took so long, but Christmas is around the corner and I still have to wrap gifts and sadly… buy some…But Happy Holidays everybody!

She smelled breakfast being cooked by her husband in the kitchen. She slipped on her robe and house slippers and made her way to the bathroom to change. Today would be quite a day. She and Derek were going to take the kids to Holiday in the Park around noon and finish wrapping presents before heading to Meredith’s old house, now Izzie and Alex’s home, for dinner. Izzie was dating a chef she met at a grocery store and of course Alex would bring home a date from the hospital. She put on her Juicy Couture sweats Derek had bought for her during Black Friday Shopping as an Early Christmas present and went into the kitchen to find everybody eating breakfast. “So you guys decided to have breakfast without me?” Meredith asked raising her eyebrow at Derek as she dropped a kiss on each kid’s forehead. “Well I was going to give you breakfast in bed if you didn’t come in before I was finished” He smirked -------------------------------------------- They strolled down the park as the fake snow lightly fell on the on the park pathway. It was rather chilly to be out, but Meredith had put the babies in what Derek called their “Marshmallow jackets”. “PICTURES WITH SANTA AND HIS REINDEER! PARKS SQUARE OPEN NOW” the sound system of the park boomed Meredith turned to Derek “Please?” she asked “Mer how many pictures with Santa do we need? We got one at the mall, one at that professional place and one at the hospital. Not say we got two family pictures and 6 individual photos with Santa at each place” Derek said. “Please?” Meredith said pouting “It’s our first Christmas as a family” she said putting even more “Don’t pout” Derek said knowing whenever she pouted he always gave in. “But this one has reindeer” Meredith said biting her bottom lip. “Fine” Derek said “It’s only because I have yet become immune to that cute pout of yours” Derek said. “When we get home remind me to give you a reward for being so obedient to my needs” Meredith whispered in his ear, causing Derek’s breathing to hitch “Now get your head out of the gutter, we don’t need little Derek to show up in the picture” She said looking down at his pants “Are you calling me small?” He said softly as they made their way to Santa “My bad, should we call him Big D or Enormous D?” She giggled ---------------------------------------------- It was nap time for the babies in the house while Meredith was putting outfits together. “So what about my reward” Derek said sneaking up behind Meredith “You’ll have to wait until later” Meredith giggled “Come on, the kids are sleeping” Derek whined “You can have it now, or have it later…all night long with a surprise” Meredith said raising her eyebrow “Later” Derek said “Good boy” She said turning around and giving him a peck on the cheek “Now go iron the boys’ pants” “Yes dear” he said going to the laundry room for get the iron. ------------------------------------------- “Mer are you ready we have to leave if we are going to make it on time” Derek yelled in the living room “HOLD ON!” Meredith yelled from the bathroom “What is it with you women?” Derek said to Alexis and Emma who blew spit bubbles at him “So you’re siding with your mommy I take it?” He said wiping their faces “I’m here” Meredith mumbled as she walked into the living room trying o slip on her heels “Woah” Derek said looking up at his wife. Meredith was wearing a flirty little v neck dress that was a blue that matched Derek’s eyes. It hugged her body, not to tightly but enough to see she had a slender figure. Though it was well around thirty degrees outside it cut off right at the knees showing off her golden colored legs. Her hair was flat ironed out, even though Derek loved her natural soft curls, it looked great on her. “Are you going to stare at me or are we going to go” Meredith asked grabbing her clutch bag “If we had it my way we’d be going to the bedroom” he grunted “you will get your reward soon enough” She said kissing him softly “, but like you said, we have to go” she said “too bad, I was thinking of squeezing part of your reward before we left” she said bending down to grab Emma and Aaden’s carrier making sure Derek had a good view of her cleavage as she bent over. Derek just shut his eyes and followed after her to the car with Alexis and Michael. ----------------------------------------------- “You guys look great” Izzie said as she opened the door for Meredith and Derek “Thanks Izzie” Derek said holding the door for Meredith “And the babies are growing up to fast” she said, can you believe they’ll be turning one soon” Izzie said as they brought the babies into the living room where Izzie had decorated the tree and mantle place with lights which got all the babies attention. “The girls look to cute in their dresses” Izzie said “They better, those cost a hundred dollars each” Derek chuckled “For that little of a person, that’s a lot of money for a small amount of fabric” he chuckled “Oh put a sock in it” Meredith giggled “You guys remember Jake” Izzie said as here boyfriend walked in to the room from the kitchen “Nice to see you again” Meredith said giving him a hug that Derek wasn’t so happy to see. In his eyes those hands were too close to his wife’s ass. “Jake” Derek said shaking his hand “Dinner will be ready in a couple of minutes” Ryan said “until then, I’ve made some cocktails” he said as Izzie came in with a tray of drinks “We’ve got Apple Martini’s and eggnog and more” Izzie said handing Meredith a drink “I think I’ll pass” Meredith said “Meredith Grey passing up a drink?” They heard as Christina came in the door “Yang” Derek said greeting her “Ass” she said “Some things never change” he mumbled getting a playful hit from Meredith --------------------------------------------- “Do you have to go so soon?” Izzie asked not wanting Meredith and Derek to go home “Sorry Iz, but the kids are cranky and I think it’s best if we go home now.” Meredith said “Fine” Izzie sighed At the house Derek had started up both fireplaces in the house, the one in the living room and the one in the master suite. They had lit the lights outside of the house and the lights indoors as well. Derek put the babies down in their cribs while Meredith got his surprise reward ready in the bedroom. Derek walked in to find the room lit with the roaring fire of the fire place which he had made earlier and few red, green and old candles lit he looked around for his wife but didn’t see her. “Looking for me?” She said seductively as she came out from the bathroom wearing some holiday lingerie “hmmmhhhh” Derek said as he Meredith sauntered over to him “This is just your reward from this morning” She said as she wrapped her arms around his waist. Derek dipped her into a kiss that left them both breathless. -------------------------------------------------------- The Next morning Meredith and Derek woke up on the floor of their bedroom on a blanket next to the fire with a another light blanket covering them from the chill of the morning “Merry Christmas” Derek said nibbling on her ear and rolling her on top of him. Meredith smiled. “Merry Christmas” She said. Derek began to kiss her neck when Meredith stopped him. “Jesus Derek” She giggled “Wasn’t last night enough, we barely squeezed in an hour of sleep” she yawned “Plus I’m sore and it’s all your fault” She smiled “I don’t remember any complaints last night” Derek said “I thought it was nice. The whole sex by the fire with your wife in lingerie is very sexy” he smirked “Well your not getting that everyday mister” She smiled “But if you play your cards right, maybe tonight we can have a recap of last night” she giggled Their chat was interrupted by the screams upstairs of their children “Even on holidays they wake up this early” Meredith said seeing it was only seven “I’m telling you they are born to be surgeons” Derek smiled handing Meredith her robe. “Merry Christmas” Meredith smiled as she found four crying babies upstairs who smiled immediately when they saw their parents “Merry Christmas” Derek chuckled as he picked up Alexis and Michael They changed their diapers and left on their p.j.’s so they could open their presents in them. They knew they had to get things going this morning if they were going to make it to the hospital for “Pancakes with Santa”, which Derek thought would be a good idea for Hospital staff and sick Children of the hospital to do on Christmas Morning. The girls got red and green ribbons in their pig tails with their short hair and the boys just got their hair brushed which was now a necessity because they were growing Daddy’s curls. The four had matching P.j.’s that had their names on them that said _____’s first Christmas, and bibs that said “Great things come in small packages”. ---------------------------------------------------------- “Smile for the camera mommy” Derek said as he turned on the camera to tape the babies first Christmas. “There are Lex, Em, Aaden and Michael” Derek said pointing the camera at the babies who were finishing their morning bottle. “Time to open presents” he smiled handing the babies a big box from Christina that was addressed to “the four babies” on the label “This is from Aunt Christina Meredith said. The babies looked clueless at the box and crawled to Derek who had the camera. “No guys you tear it open” he said as if they could understand. “Let Daddy show you, he said tearing part of the box. The babies mimicked his actions and discovered what was underneath, but preferred laying with the torn wrapping paper instead. “Aaden! Don’t eat that” Meredith said as she swatted his hand away from his mouth as she and Derek tried to clear the living room of all the wrapping paper. The babies had gotten a variety of items. They got clothes, and outfits. Izzie made them blankets, Christina bought them a leap frog Lear and Groove musical table, Mark bought four tickle me Elmo’s and other toys. “Now it’s mommy’s turn” Derek said grabbing a box from under the tree and handing it to Meredith. “This is for you” he said handing her a small box. She smiled shyly, just as she always does when Derek buys her something. She unwrapped the gift to find a Tiffany’s box “Derek” Meredith started to object “No, you deserve it; you are the most wonderful person in the whole world. I don’t deserve you Mer but some how I got you. This is just one of the ways I can show you that I love you and you deserve the best, not an A-S-S like me” he said chuckling as he spelt the word as they both agreed on no swearing when the kids were around. Meredith smiled and kissed him. “Well open it” he laughed. Inside the box she found a white gold heart necklace with a diamond heart in the center. Also on the chain was a white gold key. On the back of the heart pendant were tiny letters inscribed Meredith, you hold the key to my heart Love Always Derek aka McDreamy Meredith smiled and kissed him causing them to end up lying down on the floor “I love it” she smiled. “May I” Derek asked holding out his hand. Meredith nodded and he put the necklace on her neck “Perfect” he said “Now I feel crappy about your gift” Meredith said handing him two boxes. He opened the larger one first. Inside he found a pair of bright pink boxers that said 100% Man on the backside and a matching shirt also in pink, that said, “WORLD’S GREATEST and SEXIEST DAD” on the front “I love them” Derek said kissing Meredith “So you’ll wear them if we ever have P.J day at work?” She asked “I have no other choice, after all we both usually end up sleeping in the ‘nude’ but I don’t think that would be appropriate” he chuckled kissing her again. Next he opened the other box which was smaller. Inside was a new Rolex watch that she had personalized. on the inside of the watch circled jewels for each of their birthstones, including theirs and the babies, and in small letters she had inscribed, “OUR LOVE IS TIMELESS”. ------------------------------------- The Shepherd’s spent their first Christmas as a family opening presents, eating pancakes with Santa, Meredith opened the babies’ new toys to play with, though like most babies, they preferred to play in the boxes and eat the wrapping paper and bubble wrap. They took pictures and watched Charlie Browns Christmas and called the family in New York. Later that night Meredith and Derek snuggled on the couch with hot chocolate watching their fireplace and talking about their first Christmas as a family. This Christmas was definitely one they wouldn’t forget.

Cambria was back and watching the kids while Derek and Meredith were at the hospital. “Dr. Shepherd you paged?” Derek said coming into the room where Meredith was talking to a patient about a major surgery he was supposed to have this afternoon.” “Chief Shepherd, you know John” Meredith said introducing Derek to the patient again “Yes” Derek said shaking his hand “Mr. Shay would like to have a talk with you concerning his operation” Meredith said “Well Mr. Shay, the Shepherd Method could improve your life. Your tumor is different than other tumors I have seen for the procedure. It’s growing rapidly and pressing more and more pressure on you brain everyday. The procedure will enhance…” Derek said explained before being cut off by Mr. Shay “I know about the details I know about how it could make me better, but what are the chances of me surviving this?” He asked “I know this is your procedure Doctor but, what are my chances of coming out alive and normal” he asked “John” Derek started “There are risks to every procedure. This is a tumor we are talking about. It is spreading rapidly and could eventually kill you in just a matter of time. No the operation may not be perfect. It’s been approved by the medical board, but like every procedure it has its risks. You could come out perfectly normal and cured, you could come out better but slightly still with tumor effects you could die on the table. But what determines that is how hard we fight. We, I, the doctors in that OR when you are on the table are going to fighting for your life, but you have to be willing to fight it too” Derek explained “You don’t understand Doctor” John said “I have five children at home and a wife, I can’t die, I can’t get worse, I need to know I will make it out of here better” Mr. Shay said “We can’t make promises” Derek said “Dr. Shepherd could you leave Mr. Shay and I alone for a minute” Derek asked Meredith who stepped out of the room. “You’re scared you won’t make it out of the surgery and your kids and wife will suffer” Derek said looking John in the eye. “I can’t die or get worse. I’ve already cost them enough trouble. My wife had to get another job because I can’t work. She works three jobs Chief Shepherd. We have three kids, there still young and need guidance. My oldest is only sixteen and quite a rebel. He still needs to learn about life and responsibility. My youngest is six, she’s my baby girl. And my wife, my dear Isobel. She deserves to be taken care of not the other way around. Still up to today I can’t believe I got a girl like her.” John smiled “See doctor you don’t understand, you don’t have financial and family problems to worry about. You’re probably rolling in dough and have woman falling at your feet” he finished “I do understand” Derek said “I’m married to Dr. Shepherd” Derek chuckled “Really? I thought it was coincidence” John laughed “You two do a good job at acting professional” he laughed “We don’t all the time” Derek chuckled “And as for my kids. We have four” Derek smiled “We got pregnant about three years after we were married and found out we were having quadruplets” Derek laughed as he thought back to the day of the sonogram when he and Meredith found out they were having four babies. “When I put myself in your shoes, if it were me having this surgery and my family in your family’s situation, I would so the surgery and fight like hell to come back stronger and better then ever; Because my family is worth going to hell and back.” Derek said as he walked out of the door ------------------------------- “Are you going to spill?” Meredith asked as Derek came out of them room and they went to the Cafeteria for their usual coffee break whenever they were working on the same patient together. “Just a little man to man talk” Derek said handing Meredith her coffee. “Sure” Meredith said as they made their way to his office to relax a little before the surgery.’] Meredith ended up taking a nap on Derek’s sofa while he did some chief’s paper work at his desk. After about a thirty minute nap Meredith woke up and watched Derek do his work “Are you checking me out?” he asked winking at her motioning for her to sit in his lap. “Oh yes” Meredith said straddling him at his chair “I find you incredibly sexy, I bet you could compete with my husband” Meredith giggled “Your husband huh?” Derek said kissing her “What does he look like?” Derek said raising his eyebrow “Tall, dark and handsome, sexy blue eyes and gorgeous curls for a guy. Muscular and strong and tone” Meredith said “Sounds like a great guy” Derek smirked “But very annoying and full of him self” she giggled “Oh you are in trouble now” Derek said as Meredith jumped off his lap and headed towards the door. ---------------------------------------------- Meredith was in the scrub room getting ready for the surgery. Derek walked in to find his wife mumbling to her self “Nervous?” Derek asked “A little” Meredith said “I just want him to walk out of this hospital better so much” Meredith said “He has five kids you know. He was telling me when I wheeled him down to get prepped” she said “Don’t worry. He’ll make it through” Derek said “How do you know” Meredith asked “Some things, you just know” Derek smiled as they walked into the OR. “Remember we have to be in sync” Derek said as they got the virus ready to be injected to the tumor. Of course Meredith and Derek didn’t need to look at the monitor. Meredith could look at the monitor it made her nervous so she did what she always did and looked into Derek’s eyes and in sync they injected the virus. “Alight everybody the virus is in” Derek smiled as everybody clapped. The surgery went flawlessly but now the hardest part was coming. Having John wake up and taking him down for a scan to see if the tumor was shrinking. -------------------------------------------- “Dr. Shepherd, Chief” the nurse said as she saw the two rounding the corner “Mr. Shay is awake and would like to see you” she said. Derek nodded and they headed towards the room. “Welcome back Mr. Shay” Derek said as the entered the room “Dr. Shepherds” John said groggily “Mr. Shay” Derek smiled “how are you feeling?” he asked “Headache” John mumbled “To be expected, that means your brain is still swollen but the swelling should go down, if not I’ll prescribe some medication for it” Derek said “Any other problems?” Meredith asked “No” John said “Well we’re going to let you rest and maybe later tonight take a first look at the tumor. And you should know Mr. Shay, they surgery didn’t have one problem go wrong” Derek smiled as he and Meredith walked out of the room. “Later tonight?” Meredith asked as they placed his chart at the nurse’s station “I think I’m going to stay tonight” Derek said “Keep track of him and his progress, I think he’s been our best patient so far” Derek said “Okay then, should probably call for a cab so I can get home after my shifts over” she said pulling out her phone to schedule a cab to pick her up “Crap I forgot we rode together” Derek said “I’m sorry, you take the car, I’ll just stay here overnight. Because If I get Mark to take me home tomorrow morning I’ll just get 15 minutes of sleep before having to get up for tomorrow’s shift” Derek said “Well we’ll miss you tonight” Meredith said as they parted ways. ---------------------------------------------------- Meredith came home to find the house quiet, which was odd. Usually the babies were awake by now “Meredith” Cambria greeted from the kitchen as she cleaned the bottles. “It’s rather quiet” Meredith smiled “Oh they had a rough day. They went down about fifteen minutes ago” Cambria said “Looks like it’s going to be a nasty night” Meredith said “Where’s Derek?” Cambria asked “He had to stay over night to observe a patient” Meredith said “But you can leave I don’t think it’ll be anything I can’t handle, if I need you I’ll call you” Meredith said Cambria left and Meredith wasn’t sure if the babies were going to wake up. They just had fallen asleep and it was supposed to be bed and bath time. So she prepared a light snack for them in case they woke up. It consisted of mashed up banana and apples sauce. She showered and read her novel in the living room soon falling asleep on the couch only to be jolted awake around two in the morning to be woken up by screams upstairs. ----------------------------------------------------- Derek sat in his office looking over John’s scans seeing the tumor had shrunk. He had tried to call Meredith and when she didn’t answer he assumed she was already asleep. He left her a message to call him when she got the memo. He visited with John and helped out at the clinic that night before sleeping in his office. ---------------------------------------------------- Meredith sighed as she brought Alexis to the bathroom for a quick bath. She had thrown up Not only was she sick, Emma had it too. She put Michael and Aaden in the playroom playpens to keep them out of the germs and hopefully for them to fall asleep again. Emma’s cries continued as Alexis was being given a bath. Meredith thought about calling Cambria but she wanted to prove to herself that she could handle her kids on her own. After bathing the girls she took them downstairs. The boys had fallen asleep and she placed Alexis and Emma in the swings with toys to keep them occupied. She cleaned the nursery and changed the sheets and returned downstairs to see the girls sweating and shivering. She took their temperatures and they both had fevers of 101.2 and 101.4. Meredith gave them some baby Motrin hoping to break the fever. --------------------------------------- The next day Derek was walking around the hospital in search for his wife who was supposed to be already in. “Olivia, have you seen my wife?” Derek asked “No sir, she phoned in saying she wouldn’t be able to make it in today and she’ll have Cambria pick you up at the end of your shift. She said the girls were sick and throwing up” Olivia explained. “Who’s on call for neurology today?” Derek asked “Watson and James” Olivia said “Call them both in. I have to get home” Derek said “I shouldn’t have anything for today right?” Derek asked “Just Mr. Shay, but we can monitor him” Olivia said “Thanks” Derek said pulling out his phone to call a taxi. --------------------------------------- Meredith was cleaning up the living room from the last play time of the boys before they were in the playroom napping. The girls were in and out of sleep, unable to cope with their illness. “Hey” Derek said “Oh my gosh Derek!” Meredith said as she was shocked to see him come through the door “Don’t scare me like that!” She said putting away the last toy “Why didn’t you call?” Derek asked “Olivia told you?” She asked and Derek nodded “Let’s see they threw up for the first time around two in the mornings, I cleaned and bathed them saw they had a fever gave them Motrin trying to break it. Tried to get them to sleep and when they did I had to clean the nursery and their clothes, moved the moves into the playroom so they won’t catch whatever it is and now it is seven in the morning.” Meredith snapped “I was going to get to calling you eventually” she huffed “Okay” Derek said a little stunned by her our burst. He walked over to her and hugged her, not letting go “I smell like throw up and you’re hugging me?” She asked “I’m sorry for snapping at you” she said softly as she relaxed into his embrace. “It’s okay; you’ve had a long morning. I’m going to draw you a bubble bath. You can relax and bathe while I worry about them okay? I’ll fix you some breakfast too” he said holding her hand and walking her to their master suite. --------------------------------------------------- Please review when you can

She had a nice long bubble bath and a short nap before coming into the living room in her P.J.’s. “Morning” he said kissing her softly on the forehead as he guided her to the kitchen where he had made waffles. “Food” Meredith giggled as she left him behind to eat her waffles “So you’d pick food over me?” Derek said sarcastically as he joined her at the table “Every time” Meredith giggled “Hmmm will see about that later” Derek chuckled as he winked at her It was then they heard cries from the nursery where the girls were. “I’ll get them” Derek said before Meredith could say or do anything ---------------------------------------------- It wasn’t long before the Shepherd household was going crazy. They were taking turns switching off between the boys, who were on their usual schedule and the girls, who were sick. Meredith was with the boys upstairs who missed their mommy. She played with them on the floor of the playroom while Derek tried to get the girls to eat downstairs. Of Course you’d think because there were two of them, each had two arms, and they each had two babies, it’d be easier. But of course their children refused to just have one parent. They wanted both Meredith and Derek at the same time. “Come on Lex, let your brothers have some alone time with mommy. Don’t you like Daddy time?” he cooed at the baby rocking her back and forth trying to stop her cries. “Remember I’m the one that will be giving you money when you ask for it when you’re older. Your mommy will probably just look at you and laugh, but you’re my little princess and I can’t say no to you.” he chuckled. “Over here Michael” Meredith called to Michael who was crawling towards the stairs. Though they had two baby gates up at the stairs, the babies would push them trying to get them out of the way which often worried Meredith. Of course the babies were getting bigger everyday and often Meredith would cry when they did new things because it meant her kids were growing up. If you asked her at the age of sixteen what her life would be like in the future she would have never guessed this. She never imagined herself marrying a handsome, carrying man and let alone having kids. She was the rebel when she was a teen. Pink hair and black clothes is what she was. --------------------------------------------- “Finally quiet” Meredith sighed as she laid down on the bed of their master suite. “Peace and Quiet” Derek smiled as he laid next to her. “I think it’s mommy and daddy play time” Derek said as he started to kiss her neck. “Slow your roll mister” Meredith said “Why?” Derek said continuing to pursue his wife “As I remember I told you to buy condoms on your way from work last Friday, but you insisted we still had enough for two weeks” Meredith said pushing him off then rolling on top of him. “As I see you can have one of two choices. Go buy them or go without sex” she giggled “But your on the pill” he said “But as you can see pills fail, which is why we should be on both” Meredith pouted. “Fine, but I’m not going to the drug store. The check out people, always look at me funny, like I’m some horny teenager.” Derek chuckled “So where are you going?” Meredith asked “I don’t know maybe Costco or Sam’s; you think they sell them by the boxes?” Derek chuckled as he kissed Meredith again rolling over so she was now on the bottom “I don’t know, just make sure they aren’t glow in the dark” Meredith giggled “I like those” Derek chuckled “You should get the ones I like” Meredith winked “Then you might be getting more. Those stupid glow in the dark ones distract me. Especially the blue and red glow in the dark ones, remind me of Start Wars. Like you’ve got a light saber in-between your legs” She giggled ---------------------------------------------------- “I’m back” Derek said as he walked in the house. The trip had taken longer than expected he ended buying baby food and formula while he was in there. “I’m upstairs” she called In the nursery Meredith had the vapor machine running and was taking Alexis’ temperature. “What took you so long?’ She asked as she tried to hold Alexis down so the temperature reading would be accurate “Well I bought some baby food and formula while I was there along with wipes” he said “Well what kind of condoms did you buy?” she giggled “Well I bought a small box of night light glow in the dark ones” he chuckled “Derek” Meredith giggled “Don’t worry I got them in pink” he smiled helping hold down Alexis “And I got this new one” he said raising his eyebrow “Really now” Meredith said “It’s for ‘his and her pleasure’” Derek said “Sounds like fun” “It’s ridged for both of us and has bumps and stuff for you” He smiled “Hmmm we’ve never used that before. I don’t know if it can give me more pleasure. Big Derek down there with a regular condom can do wonders by himself” she said as the temperature monitor beeped for them to check it. “Looks like the temperature broke” Meredith said as Alexis held her arms out to be held “Now no more sex talk in front of my angels” Meredith giggled as she passed Alexis to Derek to check Emma’s temperature. Luckily both of the girls temperatures broke and they were less cranky. “Should we try and give the milk tonight?” Derek asked “I think we should still mix it with a little hydration fluid in case they can’t keep in down” Meredith said as Emma wanted her daddy and tried to wiggle out of Meredith’s arms. “Emma you want to come to Daddy?” Derek cooed as he held Emma in his other arm “I held them for eight months and birthed them, and they still like you better?” Meredith mumbled “They love us the same” Derek chuckled as they walked down the hallway “I just smell better” he said with a smirk making Meredith hit his back playfully from behind “I should probably change clothes, I just took a shower this morning but I smell like poop and throw up” she giggled -------------------------------------------- Later that night Derek got the babies to go down and went to find his wife. He found Meredith out on the porch deck in swing with the baby album flipping through it. “What are you doing, it’s chilly, and you’re going to catch a cold” Derek said as he came out on the porch swing with a blanket covering both of them with it. “I’m just putting some new photos in the album” she said showing him the glue she had on the arm of the swing. “Geeze, it seemed like only yesterday they were that small” Derek said looking at some of the pictures of the babies as newborns. “They’re growing up fast” Meredith said “Can you imagine they’ll be turning one in four months and sixteen days?” Derek said “Don’t remind me” she said burying her face to his chest as they sat on the porch looking at the stars. “Maybe we can freeze them at this age” Derek chuckled “If only they stayed small. Soon they’ll be one, then they’ll go to school and before you know it they’ll graduate and leave me with you” Meredith ranted “Is being with me that bad?” He chuckled “It is when my babies leave me” she said “Mer, that’s still a time a way…seventeen years and sixteen days until they are eighteen and they won’t graduate until June, most likely not get to college campus until middle of August, so you’ve got plenty of time with your babies” he smiled. They stayed on the porch, no talking to each other, but enjoying each others company. Meredith soon fell asleep and Derek carried her to bed. He locked all the doors and set the alarm before heading to bed himself. ---------------------------------------------------- I know it’s short but, its an update. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!!!!
