Well this sucks that I have to re-post everything but oh well I don't want any body to get lost
 So this is the Sequal to Hate That I Love You but I won't post it here Just Click this linkhttp://www.fanfiction.net/secure/live_prev...70369&chapter=1 But Reading that is not necessary because the first chaptr is this summary Okay so this is the Sequel to Hate That I Love You Okay so this is the Sequel to Hate That I Love You. Reading the first story is not necessary but here is the review!! Meredith and Derek are married for about 2 years now. The “Shepherd Squad” ,when we left off in Hate That I Love You, were coming home. They are now happy and healthy 3 month olds. Meredith woke up to the sounds of one of the quads crying next to her and Derek’s Bed. They figured it was easier than climbing up and down the stairs five times a night. Meredith turned over to get the crying baby but Derek pushed her shoulder back down. “I got her” Derek whispered as he picked up the baby. Derek quietly left them room, hoping that none of the other babies had woken up. Meredith needed rest. He was on paternity leave for only a week and she was on maternity for another month. The household had gone from quiet and calm to complete chaos. They were sliding by with 3 to four hours of sleep each. By the time they got one of the babies satisfied another would be crying. Even though things were crazy he couldn’t be any happier. He soothed the baby until she was smiling again. Alexis was the loudest of the four. When she was hungry, needed a diaper change or just needed to be held, she made sure he and Meredith knew. Derek looked down at the baby who was finally calm. “Hey there princess” Derek said cooing at the infant “Why are you up so early. Mommy and Daddy need some sleep Alexis.” Derek cooed “Now that you are happy, I think its time for you to go back to bed” Derek said moving into the bedroom again. When he entered the room Meredith was still asleep. He placed the baby I the bassinet and slipped back into the bed. Meredith flipped over and gave him a kiss. Things started to get heated and Derek knew they had to stop. Derek pulled away and stoked thorugh Meredith’s hair “Why’d you stop?” Meredith whispered “We can’t Mer, you aren’t cleared and the babies are in here” He chuckled “Ughhhh” Meredith said resting her head on his chest -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Three hours later it was time for the day to start. And of course at 5am every morning Michael was their alarm clock which woke all of the babies and Meredith and Derek up. Meredith and Derek sat up and looked at each other. “I’ll get Diapers” Meredith said “I’ll get clothes” Derek yawned They went got up, and started with grabbing the babies and placing them on their bed. Meredith and Derek went there ways. They had a routine. Change the diapers, get the babies changed and then feed the babies. Meredith was still breastfeeding all of them so when she had two of the babies, Derek was responsible for keeping the other two distracted with pacifiers, or talking to them. Finally after all the babies were done eating, Meredith placed them in the swings. “Hey what do you want for breakfast?” Derek asked “Anything” Meredith said as she placed each of the babies in their swing. Derek ended up making French toast. The babies were quiet so Meredith and Derek sat down at the table together. “Tired?” Derek asked Meredith just nodded “Why don’t you finish eating breakfast then go back to sleep” Derek suggested “It’s not fair that I get to sleep and you don’t” Meredith said “Mer, it’s my last week home on paternity leave. I want to spend as much time with them as possible” Derek said “and you need rest” Derek said. Meredith finished her breakfast and went back to sleep. Derek cleaned the kitchen and the some parts of the house. He sat down in the living room with the babies on a blanket on the floor and was talking to them. “Hey guys” Derek cooed “I can’t believe you guys are already 3 months old. You all are already growing up to fast. Now we have to be quiet because mommy is sleeping” Derek said. Aaden just looked at Derek and smiled. “Well things are going to be changing around here again, because Daddy has to go back to work” he sighed “I wish I could spend all day with you guys” He said kissing each of the babies’ foreheads. The babies fell asleep and Derek didn’t bother to move them since the slightest movment could sometimes wake them. He got on the couch and turned on the tv and lowered the volume and turned it to CNN. Before he knew it he was being wakened by Meredith. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hey” He said opening his eyes and pulling her in for a kiss. “You can go to bed” Meredith said “I need to do some chores” She said “No I’ll help you” Derek said getting up of the couch “Now Der, I got to sleep so now it’s your turn” Meredith insisted “Mer…” Derek said “No Derek, you will get some sleep while I do some chores” Meredith said poking his chest with a smile “I love it when you are bossy” Derek smiled “Sleep now” She said pointing towards the bedroom. Derek obeyed and Meredith started the laundry. After washing the clothes one of the babies had woken up. After feeding and changing Aaden, Alexis was awake. Michael and Emma were awake but didn’t cry. Meredith placed the playpen in the kitchen and put all the babies in it. They weren’t as fussy when they were all together. Meredith made Derek some lunch and wrote down a list that she or Derek would need to get the next time they went to the store. Afterwards she sat in a chair next to the playpen and admired her kids. She never thought she’d be a mother but, she loved being one. Who would have thought that, she could have so much love four the four babies that lay in front of her. Meredith loved watching them. Sometimes she’d wake up in the middle of the night and watch them when she couldn’t go back to sleep. She already noticed that though they all looked the same, they had completely different personalities. Emma and Alexis were the identical girls of the quads. They were complete opposites. Alexis was loud and liked attention. Sometime Meredith would notice that when she lined them all up on the bed, Alexis would swing her arms and hit her sibling next to her. Emma was quiet. She loved to be held but, unlike her sister Alexis, she didn’t demand it. She was a little shy; when unfamiliar people held her she would whine a bit. Aaden and Michael were the identical boys of the quads. Aaden was the curious baby. He loved bright colors and new surroundings. He loved to look at new faces and reaching for new things. Michael was the funny baby. He was always full of giggles and liked to make sounds. He always made funny faces when he needed a diaper change. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meredith was startled out of her thoughts when Derek came in “Thinking?” Derek asked “Yeah” Meredith sighed. Derek sat down next to her and offered a bite of the sandwich she had made him. Meredith shook her head “Already ate” She said For the rest of the day, Meredith and Derek spent time together with each other and the babies. By the end of the day they were as tired as hell but to them it was worth it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was pretty boring, nothing new but I just wanted to give people an insight on how their lives have changed with the arrival of the Shepherd Squad. This will help understand the next couple of updates. Please Review. |

Derek felt his phone vibrating beside him. It was 5:20 and his first day back t work. He didn’t set the alarm because he didn’t want to wake Meredith or the babies. He sat up and noticed Meredith wasn’t in the bed. He looked in the bassinets and Aaden wasn’t in his. Derek got up and walked into the living room where he found Meredith feeding Aaden. “Hey why didn’t you tell me he was awake” Derek asked “Hey, I didn’t want to wake you. You need your sleep. You go back to work today” Meredith sighed, as she finished burping Aaden. “I’ll make you some breakfast” Derek said “You don’t have to” Meredith said “I insist” Derek said starting up the stove “I’ll be back, let me put Aaden back in his bassinet” Meredith said leaving the kitchen area. She returned later already dressed in yoga pants and one of Derek’s sweatshirts “You look sexy in my clothes” Derek said giving her a kiss “I don’t feel sexy” Meredith said “look at all this flab!” Meredith said lifting up the sweatshirt “Mer you had four babies only 3 months ago. You haven’t had time to work out” Derek said “And even if you never do I will always find you beautiful” Derek said kissing her nose Meredith grabbed a cup and poured some orange juice for herself and placed it on the table. She got a mug for Derek and filled it with coffee for him to take to work. “Drink some of this” Meredith said Derek took a sip “Just what I need” Derek said before getting cut off by Meredith kissing him. After about a minute of a heavy make out the parted “Wow” Derek said “You are in a good mood” “Shut-up I needed coffee and the only way I can get it is through kissing you because I’m still freaking breast feeding” Meredith said “Ugh” Meredith said sitting down at the table looking at her orange juice. “Don’t worry” Derek said “Here” Derek said opening up the pantry and handing her a jr of candy “What’s this?” Coffee candy, taste like coffee but it’s only 3 real coffee” Derek smiled “You are now my favorite person” Meredith said kissing him “Wasn’t I always your favorite person?” Derek asked Meredith just shrugged “You will never know” She said “Do you really have to go back today?” Meredith sighed “Meri, I’m the chief of surgery and Mark is already tired of doing my job and his.” Derek said “But you are the chief you can do whatever you want” Meredith huffed “I think somebody is going to miss me” Derek said pulling her into a hug Meredith just leaned into his hug “I’m going to miss you Meri” Derek said “Me too” She said “You better get going before you are late” Meredith said “Hugs and kisses first” Derek said walking into the bedroom and giving each baby a kiss on the forehead and telling them “Daddy loves you”. Meredith just smiled and watched. Derek went into the garage and pulled out of the driveway. Meredith went into the nursery upstairs and got a couple of clothes for the babies. when she came back downstairs Derek was standing at the staircase “God!” Meredith said “God Derek you scared me!” She said “Why are you back here?” She asked “I forgot to give you a hug and a kiss” Derek said. He gave her a hug and kiss but Meredith refused to let go. “Meri In order for me to leave you have to let go” Derek chuckled “I don’t think I’m ready to watch all four of them by myself all day” She sighed “You are going o be fine” Derek said “But today is your first day back and you are working 48 hours” Meredith huffed “Sorry Mer but I have back to back surgeries that I’ve put off” He said running his fingers through her hair and giving her a kiss “I’ll call and make sure everything is okay” Derek said “Okay” Meredith said. They walked down the stairs and Derek got back in his car and she waved at him as he left. When she got back to the kitchen she heard screams from the room and she knew her day had begun. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek walked into the hospital where the day had already started. Traumas were being rolled in one after another. “Dr. Shepherd it’s nice to see you again” Dr. Bailey said “Miranda” Derek said “So how are the quads?” Dr. Bailey asked “The Shepherd Squad is doing great” Derek smiled “Shepherd Squad? Meredith approved of that?” Bailey said “She’ll catch onto the idea” Derek said “Sure McDreamy” Dr. Bailey said walking off Derek continued his walk to his office. When he got there, there was already a line of people to see him. “Chief there’s an incoming trauma from Highway 45, bad head trauma, they need you to consult home as soon as possible” A doctor said. Doctors were firing questions at him already and Derek could get his head around everything. “Okay everybody, give me 15 minutes to change and get ready for the day please” Derek said closing his office door on them. “Well, well well, Chief Shepherd is back” A voice from his desk said. Derek turned around a smiled “Hey Mark” Derek said as they did their manly half hug half handshake deal. “How has everything been around here?” Derek asked “Crazy as usual, nothings really changed though.” Mark said “So how are my nieces and nephews?” Mark asked “Always hungry and needing somebody’s attention” Derek said “Well we’ll meet for lunch and I’ll fill you in on stuff” Mark said leaving the room. Derek got his briefcase out and pulled out a couple of frames. He had 3 pictures of his children all together and one with Meredith asleep with Emma in her arms. He smiled and placed the frames on his desk. He already missed them; he wasn’t going to see them for two days. He sighed and changed and went out of his office to begin his day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meredith was tending to Alexis and Michael on the bed. They were already awake and alert. They were fed and changed. She decided to stay in the room until the other two woke up. “How are my little angels?” Meredith cooed in her baby voice. Michael reached out and touched Meredith’s nose “So what are we going to do today? Daddy is at work so it’s just you guys and mommy” Meredith said Alexis starting make whining noises so Meredith held her for a little while Michael watched the fan on the ceiling spin a around and around. The moment Derek stepped out of his office; he knew there’d be mass chaos. He started the day with five traumas 2 died and 3 made it through when he got out of surgery for the last one he decided to call and check up on Meredith. There was no answer and Derek figured she was busy with the babies. He sent her a text that said he loved her and how much he missed them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meredith was exhausted by noon time. The babies all wanted to eat and play and be held at the same time. It was so much easier when Derek was around since they’d have four hands for four babies. Alexis seemed to be running a bit of a temperature. Meredith had given her some Tylenol but, she wanted to be cuddled with all the time. Emma was cranky, though she didn’t demand much attention, Meredith was finding a hard time spending some time with each baby like they did when Derek was home. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Around 6 in the afternoon, Derek was getting nervous. Meredith has yet to return or pick-up a call. He had this feeling that something was wrong. He told Patricia his secretary that he was going out for a while to check up on Meredith and the Kids and to page Mark with any chief business. Derek made his way to the house, the closer he got, the worse the feeling. When he stepped into the house he could hear all the screams of all the babies. He walked into the bedroom where all the babies ere screaming at the top of their lungs. Their faces were red and soaking with tears. He looked around for Meredith and then noticed she was on the floor staring at the ceiling silently crying. Derek picked up Emma and Aaden, who were crying the most and rocked them to sleep, then did the same to Alexis and Michael. After they were all asleep Derek bent down and lay next to Meredith. “I’m a horrible mother” Meredith cried harder. Derek’s heart broke. “You are a great mother” He assured her pulling her into his arms “I can’t even satisfy my own children” She cried. “They all want the same thing at the same time. I try my best and fail, I’m such a failure” “No Meri, you are great. The babies are a handful” Derek said “Mothers of Twins can do this” She said “But Meri you have double the work than a mother a twins, three times as much of a parent with one infant.” Derek whispered in her ear trying to calm her down. “I can’t do this alone” She said. Derek knew the babies were a handful. Even with the two of them together it was tiring. “Don’t worry Meri, We will find a way to make this work, even if it means I need to stay home longer on paternity leave” He said. After Meredith calmed down they moved onto the bed. “Thank-you” Meredith said “There is no need to thank me Mer” Derek said “I love you” She whispered as she laid her head on his chest “I love you too” He said kissing the top of her hair With that they went to bad. It was a stressful day of changes. It was a stressful day, but at the end of the day the fact that they were a loving family, made everyday a wonderful day. All the tears and the frustration was worth it because they were happy and had four beautiful babies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Review |

The next morning the babies were quietly playing in their playpen together while Meredith and Derek were trying to get some chores done. Derek was ironing and Meredith was folding. “So I was thinking” Derek said “I was thinking about taking another month off, so we can go back to work together” Derek said “It might be easier that way” Derek said “But what are we going to do Der? Taking four infants out to the hospital is going to take for every in the mornings and moving all the stuff they need daily is hard enough when we go out for doctor’s appointments” Meredith said “I think it’s time we think about what we are going to do” She said “ I was considering a nanny” Meredith said “I thought you always said that we wouldn’t do a nanny?” Derek said “But Derek, getting four infants out the door in the mornings is not going to be that easy” Meredith said “Plus, I don’t think the sitters at the hospital daycare will be able to handle them, and all of the other children. Also, they are quads and they were born early and their immune systems aren’t that great, and the hospital is full of contagious diseases and…” Meredith said being cut off by Derek. “Mer, okay. I didn’t say we couldn’t have a nanny. And like you said the nanny is the best option” he said “So we should start looking for one” Meredith said “We should” Derek said rubbing her shoulders. “Mer” Derek said “Hmmm” Meredith said as she relaxed against him on the sofa “I was thinking” Derek started “Well, you see, my mom has been calling. She wants to know when we are going to fly out to New York for her and the family to see them” Derek said. Meredith just stared at him. “Derek, I don’t know, they’re still so little and it’s a on going job between caring for all of them.” Meredith said “Mer at least take it into consideration” Derek said “Derek, I don’t think it’s a good time. Four infants on a plane for over three hours is not going to be easy” Meredith said “Meredith, I haven’t been back to see my family in a year because of your pregnancy. I don’t think it’s fair that only ‘your family’, who isn’t really your family, gets to visit the babies all of the time! My family deserves to see them to. It’s not fair that I can only go back maybe once a year” Derek snapped “Are you trying to say you wished you never moved here? Well I’m sorry I got in the way of you and your family” Meredith shouted. By now the babies were crying from all the noise that had woken them up from their naps. Meredith went into the room to get them. Derek just sat on the couch. He knew he probably should be helping her but he was mad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Shhhh” Meredith said trying to soothe the two babies in her arms as she rocked the to bassinets trying to sooth the other to “Shhhh. It’s okay mommy’s here” Meredith said kissing the tops of Alexis’s and Aaden’s forehead “Mommy’s here” She said. Meredith was getting frustrated after 15 minutes of failing to get them satisfied. She laid the babies all on the bed and tried to lay with them. Their cries only got louder. Derek came into the room. “What can I do to help?” Derek said with annoyance in his voice towards Meredith. “Do whatever the hell you want. Book the damn tickets. Just tell me when the flight leaves so I can pack.” She said. Derek just picked up Emma and Alexis and went into the office. Meredith stayed in the bedroom with Aaden and Michael. She finally got them to calm down. After calming them down she changed their diapers and played with them on the bed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek sat in his office swinging his daughters browsing tickets. He started feeling bad about shouting and snapping at Meredith. He didn’t want to force her to go, all he wanted was to visit his family, but he also wanted Meredith to be happy. But right now he couldn’t have both apparently. Derek stopped searching and started talking to his baby girls. “Hey Em and Lex. Daddy’s sorry he shouted at mommy. He woke you guys up and ade mommy all mad. I just wanted you to meet Grandma Shepherd. But I guess mommy’s not ready and all Daddy wants is for mommy to be happy. Emma smiled at him and let out a gurgling sound. “I have a feeling you are going to giggle like your mommy” He said picking both girls up “Let’s go find Mommy, because Daddy has to go say sorry” Derek said to the girls. Derek walked into the bedroom and Meredith wasn’t in there. Next he looked in the living room and then in the kitchen. Meredith was organizing the pantry. The boys were playing in the playpen so Derek placed the girls in too. Meredith turned around and saw Derek sitting in the chair by the table “So when are we leaving” She asked monotone. “We aren’t” Derek said “Mer, all I want in my life is for you and our kids to be happy. So if you don’t want to go we don’t have to.” Derek said “We should go, I don’t want to keep you from your family any longer” She said monotone again. Derek stood up and looked at Meredith and grabbed her hands. She looked down not wanting to look at him. “Mer, you are my family. Those babies right there, they are my family Mer. Nothing is going to change that” Meredith didn’t say anything and continued to look down. Derek took one of hands and lifted her chin up so he could look into her eyes. Derek looked into those beautiful green eyes and saw the hurt that came from his harsh words earlier. “Meredith we are a family and nothing is going to change that. I know what I said and I’m sorry. Christina and Izzie, they are your family. They were there for you when I wasn’t. When I couldn’t help you they would. When I couldn’t wipe your tears away or put a smile on your face they were. I know I said that I wish I was closer to my family, but Meredith as much as I love them I could never give up us and this. Had I not come here to Seattle you would know what would happen. I know I would have been miserable because I wouldn’t have you and with out I wouldn’t have four perfect babies in my life” He said softy. Meredith looked down at there joined hands and then back at him. They shared a kiss. Soft, but it had plenty of love in it. Their moment was disturbed of course by one of the babies’ cries. That afternoon they went outside on the porch that over looked the lake. Derek brought out the baby swings and they put the babies in the swing and Meredith and Derek sat on the lounge chair together and watched the sun set in silence but Derek held her in his arms breathing her in. Meredith relaxed against him. The babies were swinging and soon fell asleep. Soon the stars were out and it was time to bring the babies back in for bed time. That night Meredith and Derek laid in bed just staring into each others’ eyes. “Derek” Meredith said “Yeah Mer?” Derek asked “Der, go ahead and book the tickets” “I thought you didn’t want to go Mer” “I think the babies should meet there Grandma Shepherd and there million cousins in New York” Meredith said “Thank-you” Derek said kissing her “One condition” Meredith said “Anything” Derek said “We get time alone as a family, just me you and the ‘shepherd squad’ please?” Meredith asked “You can bet on it” Derek said “Der, where are we going to stay?” Meredith asked “I was thinking at my moms” Derek said “But Derek there are six of us” Meredith said “I’ll talk to her about having only us staying there while we are there” Derek said “But Der, you are the favorite uncle. Every time we went before we ended up with seven of the nine nieces of your in the house and about three wandered into our room to have a ‘sleep over’ with Uncle Derek” Meredith whispered “I’ll talk to my mom” Derek said “Night” Meredith said shutting off her lamp. Derek did the same and they got into there sleeping position with Meredith’s head on his chest and his arm protectively around her. “I love you” Meredith said “I love you too” Derek said kissing the top of her hair. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With that they went to bed. Every day their love just grew stronger. Though they had a sour morning of fighting they had sweet afternoon of love. To Derek, All that mattered was at the end of the day, his wife and children were happy and healthy, and he would do anything to make sure they were. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Review  |

Derek sat in his office talking to his mom early the next morning. Today was a bust day. They had to book tickets, take the babies for doctor’s appointments and Meredith had an appointment and they needed to start searching for a nanny. “Hey mom” Derek said “Well isn’t it my long lost son!” Carol said on the other line “How have you been mom?” Derek asked “Just Fine. Where have you been? I haven’t seen you in almost over a year” Carol said “How are my grand babies?” she asked “Smiling and bouncy” Derek said. “So when do you plan on bringing them here?” Carol joked on the phone “As a matter of fact that is what I was calling you about mom” Derek said “Meredith and I are coming for a visit and we are bringing the babies by the end of this month” Derek said “Oh Derek that’d be wonderful!” Carol said “It’s about time I meet my little grandchildren” She exclaimed “When are you planning this trip?” She asked “We’ll be staying for a week and I have to check with Meredith on the dates. But we were wondering if we could stay at the house mom” Derek said “Oh Derek that’s be perfect and the girls can sleep over and” Carol started to go on “There’s the problem mom. I don’t think all the little girls can sleep over. Mom you have to remember Meredith and I don’t have just one baby, we have four and they’re a handful. I think it’s best if only Meredith and I could sleep at the house, besides you.” Derek said “We don’t want things to get too crazy” Derek explained “I understand Derek, but when your nieces ask to sleep over, you are going to be the one to tell them no” She warned “Fine” Derek chuckled “I’ll call you later with the dates” He said “All right dear” Carol said before they both hung up. As Derek hung up Meredith walked into the room and sat down on his lap. “So when are we leaving?” she said resting her head on his shoulder “Well there’s a flight a week from today if you want and then we’d stay a week and return a week before we both go back to work.” He said “Book that” Meredith said “We have other things to do today also” She said “Like what?” Derek asked “Like finding a nanny” Meredith said “Here let’s browse those nanny sites” Derek said “I’m still not so sure If I trust somebody with our babies” Meredith whined “You know Mer, you could always stay home. I make enough for all of us, but you’d miss cutting people open” Derek chuckled “Shut-up you ass” Meredith said “Shhh our babies are in the next room.” Derek chuckled “How about this agency” Derek said. Just then Meredith could hear screams from the room. “Here you search. I’ll get everybody changed and fed” She said giving him a kiss and went out into the bedroom. Derek searched around for a while and printed out some profiles of possible nannies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soon it was time for the doctor’s appointment and Derek was getting everything loaded up into the car. Meredith was putting the babies into their car seat for Derek to take into the car. They had tried to leave the car seats in the car and load them directly into the car, but that was much harder for them. Soon everybody was buckled and ready to go and they left for the hospital. Derek pushed one of the double strollers while Meredith pushed the other. “Well well well the Shepherd Family is here” Mark said giving Derek the half hug half hand shake deal. “Why does the hospital deserve such an honor” Mark said sarcastically. Meredith and Derek haven’t brought the quads over since their last check up two months ago. “Doctor’s appointment with Bailey” Meredith said giving Mark a hug “Stop by my office and we’ll do lunch after?” Mark asked as he walked away “Noon” Derek called after him. They made there way to the nurses station where they Derek found some nurses to page Bailey. “Awe they are so cute” Olivia cooed “They are growing up to fast!” She exclaimed “They are still a bit underweight from they should be though” Derek said “That’s normal for multiples” Olivia said still cooing at the babies “So chief, when do you and Dr. Shepherd plan on coming back?” Olivia asked “In another month” Meredith said “We will be glad to have you two back” Olivia said walking away from the station to pick up some labs. “Alright let’s do this” Dr. Bailey said as she approached the babies “Room 112” she said. Derek and Meredith pushed the strollers into the room and Bailey took out Aaden “Aren’t you getting big” She cooed at him “Bailey has a soft side” Derek chuckled Bailey turned around and glared at him “Remember I’m holding your baby” She said Meredith just giggled in the background. After about an hour all the babies were examined “They all are looking great. They are a little behind on weight but they are catching up. Next month you should start them on rice cereal. Hopefully that will help them catch up. They are growing though. Alexis has a little build up in the ears which I will have one of the nurses remove.” Bailey said “I’ll be back for your check-up after Alexis has her ear wax removed Meredith” Bailey said as she shut the door. Nurse Kelly came into the room shortly after and Derek placed Alexis on the table and the Nurse looked into the ear and got her tool and started to pick at the wax trying to loosen it. Alexis didn’t like it one bit. She refused to hold still. Derek held her down and Alexis started to cry. Meredith placed her on her lap while Derek held her head and Nurse Kelly continued to remove the build up. Soon she was done. “See that Lex? All done!” Meredith said cuddling the baby. “Alright, in the stroller Lex. Time for mommy’s appointment and Daddy has waited for this all week!” Derek said “You have a one track mind” Meredith giggled “And why would I want to have sex with you again, after all that pain you made me go through for these four” Meredith giggled “You love sex” Derek said kissing her “I’ve seen better” Meredith said Derek started tickling her “Stop!” Meredith giggled “Not until you take it back” Derek said “Fine fine! I haven’t seen better!” Meredith said Derek kissed her more until they were interrupted by Dr. Bailey “Hey get off her” Bailey said “I haven’t cleared her yet” She chuckled Meredith got on the examination table and bailey started to examine her “Looks good Mer. You are cleared for sex. But please keep it at home and not at the hospital. This is a place to save lives!” Bailey said Meredith just blushed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Now Meredith if it hurts then your body isn’t ready for it, don’t be afraid to tell McDreamy over there to stop. Derek if she says it hurts, stop” Bailey warned “I’d like to see the quads back in two month’s to check their progress” Bailey said “No please be gentle while you guys are doing the nasty nasty!” Bailey said With that they left the hospital went to spend the day as a family and shop for things they’d need for their trip to New York. ------------------------------------------------------------- Please Review |

Today was the day they were leaving for New York. It was 5 o’clock in the morning and their flight didn’t leave until eleven but they had to be at the airport by 9. Meredith had woken up and started to make sure they had everything they needed. So far they had five luggage’s, one for the little girls, one for the boys, one for Derek and one for her and one full of diapers and wipes that they might need. Then they had two baby bags for the flights with stuff they’d need for the eight hour flight plus stop over to exchange planes. “Meri are you done packing these so I can put them in the car “Derek do we need to bring the playpen?” Meredith asked “I think mom has one” Derek said “Are you sure” Meredith asked giving him the look “I’ll call and make sure” He said pulling out his cell phone and walking out of the room with a suit case to place in the car. He came back in and Meredith was trying to zip one of the suitcases. Derek came over and helped her “My mom said that she has two cribs and a playpen set up” Derek said “thank-you” Meredith said giving him a kiss. “You know we could go upstairs in the guest room and do a little of this” Derek said kissing her again “And this” he said running the back of his hands up her shirt. “I’ve been cleared a week and we haven’t had sex yet” Meredith said between kisses “We never had time but now” Derek said kissing her harder “The babies are asleep and we are alone” Derek said moving them towards the stairs. Then they heard screams of Emma from the room “I’ll get her” Derek said giving Meredith another kiss Derek went into the bedroom and Meredith went into the kitchen to make Derek breakfast. “Hey there Em” Derek said lifting the baby out of the bassinet “You just don’t want Mommy and Daddy to have alone time do you?” Derek cooed at her as he changed her diaper “That’s okay we still love you” He said changing her into clean clothes. Derek walked into the Kitchen where Meredith had set a bowl and his cereal out on the table. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soon it was tome to leave. They packed the car with the baby bags and carry on bag and put the babies in their car seats and they were off to the airport. When they got to the airport, it was harder than they thought. First they had to get all the babies out and into strollers and push them to the waiting area for bagging where Meredith waited with them. Derek went back to the car to the suitcases and carry-on bag and brought them in and set them by Meredith while he parked the car. They decided to leave the van at the airport and pay the fee for a week, so it’d be easier than calling a friend up to bring the van and re-install the car seat attachments. Next they had to check in the suitcases and were off to airport security. “Okay ma’am and sir we are going to need you take the babies out of the stroller and carrier and carry them through the security walk.” The officer said “Yes sir” Derek said “Sir and ma’am can you two walk through first.” he asked “Yes” Meredith said. They took off their shoes and cell phones and pagers and walked through. Next the Meredith took out Alexis and Derek walked through with her and placed her in her carrier after. Next was Emma and they did the same “Can we hurry up please?” The lady behind them in line whined “My granddaughter is hungry!” She said Meredith chooses to ignore her and continue with the babies. Before the boys were sent through the security the officer went through the baby bag and strollers for items, which took a while “Officer, do you know how much longer this is going to take!?” The lady complained. Derek had enough of it. She’d been whining since they were in line. Asking Derek and Meredith to move up more and now asking them to hurry through security which they had no control over. He politely made his way over to her “Ma’am I’m sorry it’s taking so long, but my wife and I have four infants and we have no control over how long this procedure is going to take so please could you stop complaining” Derek smirked and went back to Meredith who handed him Aaden and Michael at the same time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally they were through security and in the waiting area for their gate. They only had thirty minutes before take off but Michael was getting fussy. Derek as well was a little irritated of waiting. “Derek I think he’s hungry” Meredith said “Well, why don’t you feed him” Derek said “In public?” Meredith asked “We have blanket you can cover” Derek said “Derek” Meredith whined “See this is why we should put them on the bottle” Derek snapped. Derek knew the bottle was a rough subject. They agreed on breastfeeding but haven’t even discussed bottles. Meredith saw it as providing her children with something nobody else could give. “Just give me the blanket” Meredith said not looking at him. He did and she nursed Michael and burped him and placed his back in the carrier. Derek folded the strollers since it was almost time to board. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Flight 928 now boarding Flight 928” The announcer said. Without saying a word, Meredith picked up Alexis’s and Emma’s carriers and carried them into the plane while Derek took the boys and the assistance came after them with the carryon bag and strollers which were put in the shelving above. They had booked to rows in the middle with seats per row. Meredith sat in between Emma and Alexis in the front and Derek sat in the row behind her between Aaden and Michael. “Please fasten all seatbelts” The attendant said over the speaker “We will be taking off shortly.” She finished. Meredith buckled in and opened the baby bag and pulled out some medication and gave each of the girls a dose so they’d fall asleep for the 3 hour flight until they got into the flight exchange. After giving the medicine to the girls she handed the medicine to Derek without saying anything. Derek knew the whole bottle thing was rough topic, but he was cranky and tired of sitting down already and it just came out. After fifteen minutes of waiting it was time for take off. Thirty minutes into the flight Derek wanted to check on the girls. He leaned over to see Meredith was reading her book “What to expect from multiples” with her I-pod on. Alexis and Emma were fast asleep and so were the boys. He took out his I-pod and his novel from the bag and started to read as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally they were at the flight exchange. After a three hour flight. They got off the plane with out speaking to each other and sat in the waiting area waiting to board the next plane. Meredith went to bathroom and Derek sat the quads. Emma woke up while Meredith was gone and was fussy. Derek tried to play with her but she would have it. Derek thought she was hungry but he couldn’t do anything about it. Meredith returned and just took her from him and put the blanket over herself and started to feed. Derek watched as mother and daughter bonded and felt guilty about how he snapped earlier. He switched spots with Michael’s carrier and sat next to Meredith. “I’m sorry about earlier” Derek said “Don’t be. Maybe you are right. We should start bottle feeding them. It’d be easier. I was going to anyways, once we got back, before we left them with a nanny. But it’s not fair that you haven’t been able to feed your own kids” Meredith said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “No Mer, it’s okay. It’s your way of providing for them in a way nobody else can” He said brushing a stray hair out of her face. Meredith didn’t say anything and just laid her head on his shoulder. The second flight was better. Though the babies were a bit fussy they managed to not cry. Derek and Meredith traded seats so she could play with the boys. Finally they were off the plane and heading towards baggage. “My mom is waiting for us by baggage” Derek said as he listened to his voice mail Meredith nodded and pushed one of the strollers. They went to the closest elevator and got in and rode down. Derek looked over at Meredith who had a nervous face on. She was biting on her lower lip and playing with her rings. She always did that when she was nervous. “Why are you so tense” Derek whispered in her ear as they were in the elevator “Just nervous” Meredith said “Of what?” Derek asked “What if your mother doesn’t think I’m doing the right thing” Meredith said “Don’t worry Mer” Derek said as the elevator door opened “Everything is going to be alright.” They stepped out of the elevator and sure enough waiting for them were Deck’s four sisters, Nancy, Kathleen, Anna and Nicole along side of their mother Carol Shepherd. “Derek!” Carol said giving Derek a hug “How have you been! I haven’t seen yoou in a year!” She said giving him another hug. “Hi Mom” Derek said kissing her cheek. Next he greeted all of his sisters with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Meredith just kind of stood there. “Now where are my grand babies?” Carol asked Derek Derek brought her over to where Meredith was standing. “Meredith! How have you been?” Carol asked “Fine” Meredith said Derek turned the stroller so his mother could see the babies “Oh Derek they are beautiful” Carol said Derek smiled “Now let’s get home for dinner” Carol said “The whole family came over!” Carol said cheerfully. Meredith’s eyes widen as Carol said “the whole family”. Derek saw Meredith’s eyes widen and put his arm around her waist and gave her a kiss on the cheek whispering “Everything is going to be fine” After getting all the suitcases and putting the babies car seats into the SUV and getting everybody settled they were off towards the house. Derek and Meredith rode with his mom while Derek’s sisters followed in Nancy’s car. “So mom how have you been?” Derek asked “Fine Dear. Your nieces have missed their favorite uncle” Carol said navigating through the New York traffic. “We are here” Carol said pulling into the garage. Meredith took out the girls and Derek took out the boys. “We can bring in the suitcases later” Carol said “Let’s get in and eat dinner before everybody starts falling asleep.” Carol said unlocking the door and going into the house. Meredith picked up two of the carriers and took a deep breath. “Let’s go” She said with a nervous smile They entered the house and were welcomed with a huge crowd. “Uncle Derek! Aunt Meredith!” The children shouted causing the babies to be startled and they started to cry “Shhhh” Carol said “No screaming or you are going to scare the babies” She finished ushering the children back into the kitchen. “It’s nice seeing you two again” Doug, Nancy’s husband, said giving Derek a pat on the back and Meredith a kiss on the cheek. They said their hello’s to everybody and said they were going to go upstairs and clean up for dinner. Though they insisted on the babies being left downstairs while Meredith and Derek got ready, Meredith had to feed them and change them. Upstairs is Derek’s room Meredith and Derek were busy changing diapers and putting the babies in clean clothes. Once they were all changed they cleaned up and changed into fresher clothes room the duffle bag. Meredith started to feed and Derek went back downstairs to get the suitcases. He came back up and helped Meredith by burping those who were done eating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Derek, Meredith dinner is ready!” They heard Carol shout from downstairs. Meredith took the boys and Derek took the girls and they headed downstairs. “Oh My Gosh they are so cute” Kathleen said taking Emma from Derek. “Which one is this?” Kathleen asked “That would be Emma Grace Shepherd” Derek said “How do you tell these all apart?” Anna said as she took Aaden from Meredith “They all have very different personalities” Meredith said “Alright everybody you all can play with the babies later, time for dinner” Carol said. Meredith and Derek got the babies back and placed them in the playpen in the living room next to the dining room. Derek and Meredith sat at the adult dinner table where Carol had cooked a feast. “Wow Mrs. Shepherd you out did your self” Meredith said looking at all the food “Meredith, call me Mom or Carol” Carol said sitting down “Now everybody let’s pray” Carol said All the kids groaned “No whining! I can see my children have not emphasized religion at home” Carol said sending each of her girls a glare. Carol was very old-fashion. She was a strong Catholic and hated the fact that Derek got a divorce. It took her a while to finally accept Meredith. Carol cleared her throat “Dear Lord, thank-you for this food that we are blessed to have and thank-you that you gave Derek and Meredith a safe trip here. We are very blessed to have the safe delivery of the newest additions to the family. May we eat this meal in your blessing, Amen” She said With that everybody began to eat. Meredith took just a little of everything and Carol noticed that Meredith’s plate wasn’t full like everybody else’s “Is something wrong Meredith? You don’t seem to have an appetite” Carol asked “Oh know Carol the food is great. I’m on a proportion diet.” She said “Don’t be silly. Diets don’t exists when you are in my house” Carol laughed along with everybody else “Well, I have weight to loose.” Meredith said “Oh Meredith, you can gain a little weight, you were always a little too skinny for my liking” Carol said “She only gained a good 50 pounds” Derek chuckled, resulting with Meredith smacking him in the arm playfully “I think you are beautiful” Derek said kissing her cheek “Ewwww! Uncle Derek you can’t kiss girls! They have cooties” shouted John, the youngest of his nephews. John was 5 and Kathleen’s youngest son. The adults all just laughed and looked at Kathleen “Hey don’t look at me” Kathleen said laughing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After dessert Carol brought out the wine and was pouring everybody glasses she gave Derek a glass and she started to pour Meredith a glass “Oh Carol, I can’t drink” Meredith sighed “She’s still breastfeeding mom” Derek said “Oh a little isn’t going to hurt you” Carol said “I think I’ll pass” Meredith said Carol smiled and went back to the kitchen and came back and joined the conversation at the table. “So Meredith how did Derek react when he found out you guys were having four?” Nicole asked “Like any normal human being. He almost fell out of the chair” Meredith giggled “That’s Derek four you” Nancy said -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soon they all moved into the living room and Carol pulled out a blanket and put it on the floor and all the babies were placed on it with various toys. Derek’s Nieces and Nephews were playing in the basement. “They are so cute” Anna said cooing at Michael “They all look the same I don’t know how you guys tell them apart!” Nicole said After a while of playing in the basement the kids came up ready to go home “Uncle Dewek” said a little voice coming up the stairs. It belonged to Nicole’s youngest daughter “Yes Claire?” Derek said placing her in his lap. Claire definitely loved when Derek came to town. She was four years old already and that just amazed Derek on how fast they grow up “I wanna have a seepober” she said “with you n auntie merediff” She said Derek looked at the little girl and then at his mom. She told him he’d have to tell them no. I was going to break his heart “Well Claire Bear, I’m sorry but we can’t have a sleepover this time because Uncle Derek has four babies and he doesn’t want them to wake you up in the middle of the night. But how about tomorrow you can come over here and we can play?” Derek said trying to please the girl “Okay you can be the pretty princess” The four year old said with a smile “You can wear the wings and the crown and the dress!” She said. Derek chuckled and agreed with her. Soon everybody left and they had already put the babies down for the night and Meredith and Derek were helping Carol clean up “You two go up and seep. I bet you guys have had a long day” Carol said “Thanks mom” Derek said taking Meredith’s hand and leading her up the stairs “Come on Princess Derek, let’s go to bed” Meredith giggled only to be chased into the room by Derek. Maybe this trip would be okay, after all they were a big happy family right? |

Derek woke up early the next morning and wandered downstairs where his mother was cooking breakfast. “Hey Derek” His mother said “Hi Mom” Derek yawned “Why are you up so early?” Carol asked “I never am able to sleep in new beds” Derek said “That’s the same mattress since you were a boy” Carol laughed. Derek chuckled with her. “So do you have the bottles?” Carol asked “We don’t use bottles” Derek sighed “You mean you haven’t fed your own children!?” Carol gasped “We are going to when we get back to Washington” Derek said “Derek they are three months old you should be able to feed them by now” Carol said “Mom, just let’s drop it” Derek said “Okay” Carol said “Set the table” She said “So how long does she plan to breast feed?” She asked “As long as she can” Derek said “Derek, she’s surgeon it’s going to be hard" “But she’s willing to do it. The Quads don’t have as strong as of an immune system as every other baby. They are weaker and breast milk is the best thing we can give them” Derek said putting the plates on the table “She’s going to be a great mother” Carol smiled “She’s willing to do anything for them” Carol smiled “She already is” Derek smiled back. The moment was interrupted by the screams of a baby upstairs “And my day begins” Derek said like a super hero running up the stairs. Carol just laughed and started to plate breakfast and pour juice and milk into cups. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Derek got up the stairs Meredith had Emma and Aaden in her arms soothing them while Alexis and Michael managed to stay sleeping. “Here I’ll change them” Derek said coming over to her Good morning” He said giving Meredith a kiss on the cheek along with a kiss on each of the babies’ foreheads. Once the diapers were changed Derek played with Emma while Meredith fed Aaden and then they switched off. Soon the other two were awake and Derek played with Emma and Aaden while Meredith changed and fed the other too. Finally everybody was happy and they made their way downstairs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Good Morning Meredith” Carol said as she took off her apron “Good Morning Carol” Meredith said putting put two of the babies into the playpen and sitting down at the table and Derek did the same “So what are you two planning to do today?” Carol asked “I don’t know” Derek said “Well you and little Claire have a princess date this afternoon” Meredith giggled “Very funny” Derek said sarcastically “Well Little Claire is coming for dinner and a date with Uncle Derek so you guys have all day here” Carol said “What do you usually do back in Seattle?” She asked “Feed the quads, change them, play with them, do laundry, clean up the room, clean up the dishes if there are any, and try to fit in some sleep.” Meredith said “Well, how about later you two go out for lunch. I’ll watch the babies” Carol suggested “As much as I’d love to, I'm still breastfeed and they aren’t on bottles yet…” Meredith started “Don’t be silly Meredith. Feed them right before you leave and then you two can go out for lunch and come back home before they even need you. After all they eat every four to six hours now don’t they?” Carol said Meredith agreed and she and Derek would have a lunch date later that day. Around eleven Meredith and Derek were getting ready to leave for their date. Meredith was finishing up feeding as Derek tried to rock the babies to sleep but they refused so he just brought them downstairs and his mom played with the babies on the blanket of the living room floor. “Okay” Meredith said “We are going” She said coming over to each baby and kissing their foreheads “Mom you have both our cell phone numbers and the number of the restaurant” Derek said showing her the piece of paper with the numbers listed on it “Yes, now you two stop stalling and go out and have fun” Carol said ushering them out the door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek helped Meredith into the rental car and turned on the navigator so that they could get to the restaurant. On the way there Derek could see how nervous Meredith was “She can handle it Mer” Derek said “She had five kids at one point” Derek chuckled “But you were all different ages. They are all babies and need loads of attention” Meredith said “Meri she’ll be fine” Derek said touching her cheek when they got to the stop sign. Meredith nodded and they were almost at the restaurant They had a nice lunch between the two of them but Derek could see that Meredith’s mind was somewhere else “Meri I promise you they are going to be okay” He said grabbing her hand across the table and gently rubbing it. “I know” Meredith sighed “So I thought we could look at some nanny profiles when we get back to my mom’s” Derek said “That sounds good” Meredith said “Are we having a live in nanny?” Meredith asked “She could stay in the guest house” Derek said “Plus it would be easier if we are on call” Meredith said “You know Mer, you could be a stay at home mom. We have the money” Derek said “As much as I’d love to do that, I think I’d miss the OR and cutting people open” She giggled. “Come on let’s go for some ice cream before we head back” Derek said standing up and helping her out of the chair Derek took her to his favorite ice cream shop since he was a little kid. “What would you kind people like today?” The man said “I’ll have the fat free Strawberry Yogurt” Meredith said “I’ll have the coffee ice cream with vanilla sprinkles” Derek said “We’ll have them delivered to your table” The man said. Derek and Meredith found a little lovers chair that looked out into the bust New York City “Fat Free Yogurt” Derek chuckled “You aren’t the one who had to push four babies out of you and gain a lot of weight” Meredith said “I think you look beautiful” Derek said “Derek, promise me you won’t get mad?” Meredith asked “Mad at what” He asked “What I’m about to tell you” Meredith said. Derek got a concerned look on his face “I won’t” Derek said “Now what is it?” “I want to get some surgery done” Meredith said. Derek busted out laughing “What?” Meredith asked “You made it sound like something bad was going to happen” He said kissing her temple “So you are okay with it?” Meredith asked “I think you are beautiful right now” Derek said “Look at this” Meredith said showing him her stomach that had some excess skin because of the pregnancy with the quadruplets “Meri, if you want a tummy tuck that’s fine with me” Derek said “But I think you are sexy whether or not you look like this or if you were the size of a whale” Derek said “So I was thinking I could have it done a few month’s after going back to work once the babies are on bottles and need a little less attention because they’d be older” Meredith said “If that’s what you want” Derek said kissing her They ate their dessert and left the parlor and went back to his mother’s house where they found their angels asleep in the playpen and grandma Shepherd Asleep on the couch next to them -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Review |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That Same Afternoon Derek’s little niece Claire came over for her ‘date’ with Uncle Derek. “Uncle Dewek you have to wear your crown” The little girl said as she placed the tiara on Derek’s head. Meredith stood at the doorway, giggling to herself. “So Princess Claire what are we having today?” Derek said as he tried to sit in the little chair. Carol had lots of stuff for her grandchildren in the basement. It had gaming systems for the boys and Barbie’s for the girls. Army Tents and Princess Tents and a tea table which Claire and Derek were playing at. “What all princesses eat silly!” The little girl giggled “Sandwich and tea” She said sitting down. In reality they were finger sandwiches and orange soda. Derek played along and Claire was enjoying their date. “Now uncle Dewek it is time for your make-up!” The girl shouted as she showed Derek the new Princess make up Grandma had gotten for her “Fun” Derek said with a smile. Claire started outing stuff on Derek and Derek tried to help “No Uncle Dewek that’s lipstick it goes on your lips not your nose silly!” She laughed. Meredith went inside the room and sat on the floor next to Derek. “Aunt Meredif” She said “You can help too!” She said “What are we doing?” Meredith asked Claire “Giving princess Dewek a make-over” She said “Well Claire you are doing such a great job, I think I’ll just watch” Meredith said The rest of Claire’s Date was playing dress up and a little dancing along with ice cream provided by Grandma and soon she left asleep. Derek carried her out to the car and watched as his sister drove off the property before entering the house. “So Princess Derek” Meredith giggled “Oh I’m going to get you for calling me that!” Derek said chasing her into the living room. “Enough you two” Carol laughed, “you better quiet down or you will wake the babies” “Yeah Derek Stop” Meredith giggled “Come upstairs and help me take this stuff off” Derek said as he tried to wipe off his lip gloss. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upstairs Derek and Meredith were in the bathroom trying to take off his make-up. “Geeze Mer how can you put this stuff on everyday?” Derek said scrubbing off the blush "Hey don’t scrub or your skin will be all red” Meredith said taking the towel from him and gently rubbing off the blush with soap and her make-up remover “And for your information I only wear eyeliner and mascara if I even have the time to put that on” Meredith said. “Well I think you are beautiful” Derek said kissing her “With or without make-up” He said “But anyways I hope my princesses aren’t expecting Daddy to put on Make-up again” He chuckled “Maybe mommy will suggest playing princess with daddy” Meredith giggled. He kissed her again but were interrupted by the screams of Aaden -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek walked into the room and picked up Aaden and frowned “Mer he has a fever” He said feeling the forehead of the baby “Let me see” Meredith said as she put her hand on the Aaden’s forehead “Yes but we need to get the thermometer” Meredith said taking Aaden from Derek. Derek went through the baby bag and found a thermometer for the babies. It was one of he new ones that was a pacifier and they put it in Aaden’s mouth. Once it beeped Derek looked at the reading “100.6” He said “It’s not high but it’s a fever” Meredith sighed “What’s wrong buddy?” Meredith cooed at the baby who was snuggling up to his mommy. “I should feed him before the rest get up” Meredith said adjusting her shirt so she could feed. A few minutes into feeding Derek heard Meredith from the room “Ouch!” Meredith said “Meri are you okay?” Derek said coming over to her Meredith handed Aaden to Derek and stuck her finger on Aaden’s gum lines “I found the reason for the fever” Meredith smiled “What?” Derek asked “He’s teething. Feel” Meredith said taking Aaden from Derek. Sure enough Aaden was starting to grow some teeth “Isn’t it early?” Derek said “Well babies tend to teeth between three and seven months but late bloomers around the first birthday” Meredith said “What can I say my boy Aaden is just advanced” Derek chuckled -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They got Aaden settled and gave him some Tylenol for the fever and so sooth him with his discomfort. They looked at a couple of nanny profiles while the rest were asleep and Aaden played in the swing “How about this one?” Derek asked “Derek she looks like she could fall dead any second: Meredith giggled “Okay how about this one?” Derek asked “She has no experience with a baby, how is she going to handle four?” Meredith said. “How about him” Meredith said shoeing Derek “I don’t think so” Derek said “Why?” Meredith said “He’s a man” Derek said “No way!” Derek scowled “You are jealous” Meredith said “Am not” He said “Are too” She said kissing him “We still aren’t hiring him” Derek chuckled “How about her, she’s perfect!” Meredith said. Derek reads the profile. “Cambria Smith thirty five years old. Divorced but has a set of twins, a boy and a girl” Derek read aloud “Loves children and is willing to be a live in nanny” Derek finished “Give her a call and set up and appointment for when we get back she’s seems like a good match and has lots of recommendations. She even has a set of multiples herself.” Meredith said. It was a Saturday and Meredith and Derek took the babies out for a walk while his mother slept in. “This is nice” Derek said “What?” Meredith said as she pushed the other stroller “You, me, our children taking a walk in the park on a beautiful Saturday Morning” Derek smiled “Yes it is” Meredith agreed “You know what tomorrow is?” Meredith said “Sunday” Derek said “Father’s Day” Meredith said “Oh, that’s right, I qualify to celebrate that holiday this year” Derek chuckled as they stopped at a bench. “So we only have 3 more days left here” Meredith sighed “I know” Derek said kissing her cheek “Then we have two weeks at home before we both go to work” She sighed The Next Day Derek woke up later than usual surprised that all four babies were in the bed with him and Meredith was already awake watching him sleep “Morning” He said as he opened his eyes “Morning Daddy” Meredith said kissing him “Happy Father’s Day” She said “Thank-you for making me a daddy” He said “Here, open it” She said handing him a wrapped box. Derek took the box, and unwrapped it. Inside was a photo frame that had eight slots, four on top and four on bottom. On the top there were pictures of each baby in their own slot and bellow their picture was their hand print with there name below it. “Meri, it’s perfect” Derek said kissing her than each baby “Well you deserve it super daddy” Meredith said Derek got dressed and they took the babies downstairs “Good morning” Derek said greeting his mother “Happy Father’s Day Der” Carol said kissing his cheek “Thanks mom” Derek said “What a shame you guys have to leave in two days.” Carol said “We are going to miss you mom” Derek said “I will miss you too” Carol said “Come on lunch, my treat” Derek said “Oh Der, it’s Father’s day you should stay home if you want” Carol said “Come on Mom, Me you, Meri and the babies” Derek said “Fine” Carol said giving in -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek took his mother at a nice little restaurant for lunch. It was fairly okay. Two babies managed to stay asleep the whole time and the other two played with the toys on the car seat handle. They talked about having future visits to New York and Carol coming to Seattle. They talked about work and the nanny situation. They caught up with each other and soon lunch was over, and they were back home. Derek and Meredith were playing with the babies on the floor of the living room when there was a news report flashing on the screen. “Der look” Meredith said clutching his hand. On the screen showed that there was some kind of chaos going on at Seattle Grace Hospital. “What’s going on?” Derek said grabbing his cell phone to call Mark. “Hello?” Mark said on the other end “Mark what’s going on?!” Derek asked frantically “Oh nothing” Mark said trying to sound cool “Then explain why my hospital is flashing on the news screen” Derek demanded “Oh so you know” Mark sighed “There’s been a little incident.” Mark said “What kind of incident?” Derek asked. Meredith could see the tenseness in Derek so she took his hand and rubbed small circles “Well there’s a patient is pscyh ward who got a hold of a gun apparently and is holding a room of people hostage” Mark explained “WHAT!” Derek shouted “Don’t worry I have everything under control” Mark said “What do you mean?! There is a room full of people being held hostage” Derek said frantically “Derek, the police are talking to her and there is a therapist talking to her too” Mark said “I want updates every hour until this situation is cleared!” Derek said “Yeah yeah yeah” Mark said “Mark just take care of this” Derek said as he hung up Meredith laid her head on his lap and looked up at him “So what happened?” She asked “Pscyh patient got hold of a gun and holding a room full of people hostage” Derek sighed running his hands through his hair. “Sorry I don’t mean to ruin the spirits of today” Derek sighed again “It’s okay, it’s your hospital you need to take care of things” Meredith said coming up and giving him a kiss “I love you” Derek whispered “I love you too” She said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They played with the babies some more nd were amazed at how fast their babies were growing. “I still can’t believe Aaden is already teething” Derek said “He’s really early. Most babies teeth around four or five month’s but the doctors say it’s normal to teeth from three to six months” Meredith said “They grow up too fast” Derek said “They are already making noises and cooing. They are starting to teeth and trying to flip over. Soon they are going to be walking and talking and before you know it we will have four teenagers” Meredith rambled but she was interrupted by Aaden’s wails. Derek gave his a frozen teething ring from him to gnaw at. But Alexis grabbed it from Aaden and he started to cry again. Meredith gave back the teething ring to Aaden and moved Alexis a little farther away from her brother. “I’m telling you Der, Lex is going to be the trouble maker” Meredith giggled “Emma is going to be the quiet reserved one” Derek said “Michael is going to be the curious child with all the questions” Meredith giggled “And Aaden will be the rock star” Derek chuckled “Rock Star?” Meredith giggled “maybe he will be like that cute guy in Made of Honor, what’s his name? Patrick Dempsey? Yeah him” Meredith giggled An hour later the babies were asleep and Meredith and Derek were napping in the room when his phone rang “Derek Shepherd” Derek answered “Hey Derek” Mark said “So” Derek asked “Everything is under control, the therapist coaxed her to hand her the gun” Mark said “Good” Derek said “So how’s New York?” Mark asked “Great, but I’m ready to go back to the rain of Seattle” Derek said “Hopefully you can keep my hospital in one piece until then?” Derek asked “Yeah yeah yeah” Mark said “So how are my nephews and nieces?” He asked “Better than ever, Aaden is starting to grow in his first tooth” Derek said “Well we can’t wait to have you and Grey back” Mark said “Our flight leaves tomorrow afternoon” Derek said “Well I have to run Bailey is giving met he stare” Mark said as he hung up Derek just chuckled. The rest of the day was family time. Derek and Meredith played with the babies as well did Carol. Carol made them a meal of hers made totally from scratch in honor of Derek’s first father’s day and because it was their last dinner together. The trip didn’t go as miserably as Meredith thought, maybe she did have a big happy family after all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Soon enough their visit to New York was over and it was the day of the interview with their future nanny, hopefully. ¡§Derek can you please help me up here?¡¨ Meredith hollered up the stairs as the babies were getting up from nap in the master¡¦s bedroom. Derek was upstairs cleaning up the nursery for Cambria to see. Derek found it funny how the babies were still in their bedroom. They decided that next week they¡¦d start putting them in the nursery since they were starting to get through the night. ¡§I¡¦m coming¡¨ Derek said as he entered the room with clean outfits that had the babies¡¦ names on it. ¡§Meredith changed diapers as Derek wiped them down with a baby white then added a bit of baby cologne to them. Then Derek dressed them and handed them back to Meredith who would comb their hair and she¡¦d tie up the girls¡¦ hair in a tiny pony tail up top with a small bow. ¡§Okay I think everybody looks nice¡¨ Meredith said looking at them. Emma smiled and Alexis cooed at Meredith. ¡§Now Daddy it¡¦s your turn to get changed¡¨ Meredith said. Derek gave her a kiss and went into their closet. Meredith put bibs on the babies and tried to keep them clean. She brought them into the living room and placed them in their bouncer and arranged them in a circle so they could see each other. Soon Derek came out into the living room. ¡§You look nice¡¨ Meredith said looking at him in his red shirt half buttoned shirt, so that you could see his white under shirt, and jeans. ¡§Now watch my children while I change¡¨ Meredith said walking off. Derek tidied up the living room. He didn¡¦t want to scare off Cambria with their lack of time to clean the house. Soon everybody was ready and there was a knock at the door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ¡§Hello¡¨ Cambria said ¡§I¡¦m Cambria Smith it¡¦s very nice to meet you¡¨ Cambria said shaking Derek¡¦s hand and then Meredith¡¦s. ¡§Please Come in¡¨ Meredith said stepping aside. They walked into the house and sat down at the dining table ¡§So Cambria, we hear you have a set of twins yourself¡¨ Derek said looking at her resume she handed him. ¡§Yes a boy and a girl¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Do you visit them often¡¨ Derek asked ¡§Well they are entering college this year and plan on taking a medical course after basics. They are both going out of state for college¡¨ Cambria said ¡§So on your papers it says you are divorced and never remarried¡¨ Derek said ¡§I was young. I was 17 when I had the kids and my parents said it was the right thing to marry their father. So 3 months after finding out I was pregnant I ended up married. After about two years John wasn¡¦t holding up to be a father. So I left him and I took the kids with me. There¡¦s no point in bringing up kids into a loveless marriage with a father who never was home¡¨ Cambria said ¡§So how did you managed to be a single mother?¡¨ Meredith asked ¡§I finished school and went to college to be a childcare worker. My mother helped me with the twins when I was at school or working. Once I got a stable job up here in Seattle I moved into a house and my kids had a normal childhood.¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Your references have had lots of positive things to say about you and my wife and I are very impressed¡¨ Derek said ¡§So you said you were willing to be a live in¡¨ Derek questioned ¡§Yes Mr. Shepherd¡¨ Cambria said ¡§That¡¦s very helpful for us¡¨ Meredith said ¡§Would you like to meet the babies?¡¨ Derek asked ¡§Please lead the way¡¨ Cambria said with a warm smile They walked into the living room where the babies were in their bouncer kicking their legs and chewing on their soft toys Meredith had given them earlier. ¡§They are beautiful¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Thanks to mommy¡¨ Derek said pulling Meredith closer to him ¡§They are pretty good most of the time. They only cry if they are hungry or if they need a diaper change¡¨ Meredith explained ¡§Here let us show you around the house¡¨ Meredith said. They took a grand tour and ended up in the guest house ¡§Ms. Smith this is our guest house, but in the new situation this is where you will be staying¡¨ Derek said ¡§This way you can have your own privacy when you aren¡¦t working.¡¨ Derek said ¡§Well, I better be going so you guys can talk amongst yourselves about nannies¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Well actually Cambria we were very impressed with your resume and references we already had our minds set on you and hoping you would accept the job offer¡¨ Derek said with a smile ¡§Well I would love to take care of them¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Well my wife and I start work in two weeks so by then if you could be moved in and settled¡¨ Derek said ¡§Of course¡¨ Cambria said ¡§Oh and Mrs. and Mr. Shepherd do you need any other information such as divers license number or anything like that¡¨ Cambria said ¡§No we are good¡¨ Meredith said ¡§So we will talk to you soon?¡¨ Derek asked as Cambria left ¡§Yes I¡¦ll call later this week regarding when I should move in¡¨ Cambria said as she got into her car. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meredith and Derek walked back into the house and found all the babies asleep. They got into their bedroom and Derek shut the door before he resumed to kissing his wife ¡§It¡¦s mommy and daddy time now¡¨ Derek said as they got on the bed ¡§hmmm¡¨ Meredith managed to say as they continues you kissing. And you know what happens from there. ƒº Afterwards Meredith and Derek lay in bed. Meredith¡¦s head rested on Derek¡¦s chest. ¡§That was¡¨ Meredith started ¡§Amazing¡¨ Derek finished. They were both out of breath. ¡§We should have sex like that more often¡¨ Derek chuckled ¡§When are we going to have the time¡¨ Meredith said kissing his lips softly ¡§It¡¦s amazing. Who would have thought that we would be getting sex once or twice a week¡¨ Derek chuckled ¡§Tell that to Iz and George, they probably won¡¦t believe you¡¨ Meredith giggled After about thirty more minutes of talking they heard the babies wake up. |

Meredith sat in the chair and watched as Derek fed his children with the bottle. She felt left out but, they were big enough and soon she’d be at work. She loved watching Derek feed them. Meredith was in charge of making the rice cereal, some of them loved it and some of them it had to be shoved down. “Open for mommy Aaden” Meredith said as it was Aaden’s turn for a bite. Meredith and Derek just made one bowl of rice cereal for all of them and went in a circle having them each take a bite. Derek was upstairs in the nursery getting the sheets for the crib ready, tonight was the first night they’d put all of the babies in the nursery for the night to sleep. “Okay Emma it’s your turn” Meredith said putting the spoon in Emma’s mouth. Aaden and Emma didn’t mind the bland taste of the cereal but Alexis and Michael did. “Okay Lex, open for mommy” Meredith cooed. Alexis opened by instinct and Meredith put in the spoon. Alexis closed her mouth and Meredith turned to give Michael a bite and Alexis spit it back out. “Alexis no” Meredith said wiping her face. “Be a good girl please?” Meredith said trying to feed her another bite. Meredith put it far back enough so that Alexis would have to swallow. Now it was Michaels turn. He hated the cereal. Sometimes they would have him crying by the end of the feeding because he had to eat it. Derek came downstairs and found Meredith having a hard time feeding Michael. “Come on buddy” Derek said sitting next to Meredith smiling. “Look Daddy likes it” Meredith said shoving the food in Derek’s mouth. Derek made a face and swallowed it down “No wonder why they hate it” Derek said “Daddy, be a good example” Meredith giggled which caused all of them to giggle giving Meredith the chance to stick the spoon of rice cereal into Michaels mouth. “Okay everybody’s done for the night. Let’s burp and take our baths” Meredith said wiping each of the babies’ mouths. Derek took the boys and Meredith took the girls. They burped them and headed upstairs for bath time. After giving the babies a bath it was bed time. They changed the babies into their night wear and placed them in the proper cribs. Alexis and Emma shared crib and Michael and Aaden shared the other for now. Eventually when they started becoming mobile they’d be separated into four separate cribs. Meredith gave all of the babies a kiss and she and Derek closed the door and headed to their room. “Derek, what if something happens?” Meredith whined “They are going to be okay” Derek said rubbing her shoulders “Plus we have the digital camera baby monitor so you can see them” Derek said turning on the monitors. On one screen were the girls and on the other were the boys. Meredith pouted “You can pout all you want Meri, but they have to learn to sleep in the nursery” Derek said “One more night?” Meredith pouted “That’s what you said yesterday” Derek chuckled but Meredith still pouted “Meri, the pout is not working this time” Derek said getting into the bed. Meredith climbed in “But” Meredith started but Derek put his finger over her mouth “Not buts” Derek said “Let me see if there is something I can do to keep your mind off of them” Derek said kissing her. Before you know it, their clothes were on the floor. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Afterwards Meredith looked up at Derek. “Der?” Meredith whispered “Hmmm” Meredith said sleepily “Does the monitor work two ways? Oh my gosh we could have wakened the babies or even worse they could have heard and…” Meredith rambled “Shhh” Derek said “It only works one way. It’s one of them high tech deals” Derek said kissing her and running his hands through her hair. And soon she was asleep. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning Derek and Meredith woke up “Morning” Derek said with a kiss “Hmmm” Meredith said “Isn’t this nice” Derek said “Waking up to you, naked in our bed” Derek said winking “Nice try but you aren’t getting any this morning, I want to see my babies” Meredith said “Who would have thought you would be the one to always worry about the babies” Derek chuckled “Shut up” Meredith giggled whacking him with her pillow “Come help me get them ready, I want to take the babies shopping for clothes” Meredith said “They are growing out of theirs already” Meredith said “Yes mommy” Derek cooed at Meredith. She just laughed. After getting the babies dressed and fed, they loaded the car. “So where to?” Derek asked “Target” Meredith said “They have some cute clothes and we can buy them some toys and maybe a couple of things to organize the house” Meredith said. It wasn’t often they all got out of the house. Taking care of four babies was hard to do in public places where you didn’t have everything with you. They parked the car and got out the strollers. They had a girl and a boy in one and the other boy and girl in the other. Meredith pushed Emma and Aaden as Derek pushed Alexis and Michael. They picked some clothes for the babies, which included some onesies and some shorts. The bought some little play balls and fun little toys for four to six month olds. Derek bought some office organizers for the office and Meredith bought shoes for the babies and two pairs of flip flops for herself. The got some hair ties for the girls and Derek got some CD’s. After shopping Meredith and Derek decided to try and eat out for lunch to see if the babies would be good. They did it once in New York and nobody cried. They went LaMadeline’s, a little bistro, in downtown. The babies were un the strollers next to Derek and Meredith as they ate. Alexis started to cry but everybody else did fine. After a while Aaden started to fuss but Derek gave him the teething ring. Meredith and Derek were started to get the hang of taking the kids out more often. They would sometimes walk in the park if it was sunny outside. Every night Meredith always thought, ‘who would have thought I’d be married with four children’. Though having quadruplets scared the crap out of her, it always made her smile. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

After shopping Meredith and Derek decided to try and eat out for lunch to see if the babies would be good. They did it once in New York and nobody cried. They went LaMadeline’s, a little bistro, in downtown. The babies were un the strollers next to Derek and Meredith as they ate. Alexis started to cry but everybody else did fine. After a while Aaden started to fuss but Derek gave him the teething ring. Meredith and Derek were started to get the hang of taking the kids out more often. They would sometimes walk in the park if it was sunny outside. Every night Meredith always thought, ‘who would have thought I’d be married with four children’. Though having quadruplets scared the crap out of her, it always made her smile. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Soon enough Cambria was moved in and getting the swing of things. She observed for a couple of days to see the daily routine and soon got the hang of it. Today was Meredith and Derek’s first day back to work. The sound of the alarm pierced through the master suite bedroom as Derek rolled over to shut it off. “Meri” Derek said softly as he nudged her body to wake her “I’m not going” Meredith mumbled “But Meri it’s your first day back aren’t you excited” Derek said trying to sound enthusiastic “Iamnotgoingiamsick” Meredith mumbled out all together that Derek chuckled a bit “Meri I know you don’t want to leave but, we aren’t pushing back this date any longer” Derek said. Meredith opened her sleepy eyes and glared at him “You’re the chief do something” Meredith whined “Meri, as much as I would love to let you stay home all day long with our children I know you will be missing cutting open peoples brains.” Derek said “Derek one more day” Meredith whined “No Meri” Derek sighed “Fine you mean old man!” Meredith huffed as she got out of bed. Derek sighed and knew it was going to be a long day at work. “Take it back” Derek chuckled “I am not old!” Derek chuckled again as he entered the bathroom where Meredith was brushing her teeth. Derek brushed his teeth too and they got dressed for work. Meredith wore a shirt and some jeans and put her scrubs in her bag. Derek did the same and put his scrubs in his suitcase. Meredith walked out of the room without a word to Derek and didn’t bother to grab some breakfast as she went straight up to the babies’ nursery. Meredith walked into the nursery where she saw all the babies fast asleep still in their dreams. Aaden was softly sucking on his thumb as his brother Michael was starting to roll onto his side. The girls looked so peaceful, as they slept. Alexis took up a lot of the crib she was sharing with her sister. She had her arms and legs spread out as she slept on her back. Emma the sweet baby slept off in the corner giving her sister all the room. Meredith straightened up the room and placed out the babies’ clothes for the day for Cambria to change them into plus a few more incase they got dirty. Meredith put out all the ones with their names on them so it would be easier for Cambria. She put out the diapers and wipes along with everybody’s favorite cry items, such as Alexis’s pacifier, Aaden’s teething toy, Michaels rattle and Emma’s little pink blanket. Meredith looked once again at her children and sighed. “Mommy loves you and I will come home as soon as I can. Be good for Cambria” Meredith whispered to each baby as she gave each a soft kiss on the forehead. She gently closed the door and walked back downstairs so see that Derek had made breakfast for her and already made her coffee. She smiled and wrapped her arms around him from behind as he was putting out the bottles. Derek turned around and smiled and gave her a hug “I’m sorry about earlier” Meredith whispered “It’s okay” Derek said giving her a kiss on the top of the head Soon it was almost time to leave and they heard Cambria come in from the back door in the backyard “Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd I hope I am not late” Cambria said seeing that they had already eaten and had their bags by the door “No, it fact a bit early but that’s perfect” Derek said “The babies are all still asleep, they normal wake-up in an hour or two. I already laid their clothes out and Derek got their first bottles ready, they just need to be warmed.” Meredith said “Our friend Izzie will be stopping by around noon just to make sire everything is good and that you haven’t lost you mind” Derek chuckled “Don’t worry Mr. Shepherd” Cambria said “Okay I’m going to give the babies a kiss and you can go start the car” Derek said giving Meredith the keys. Meredith sighed and went to the garage. Soon enough Derek came into the garage and got into the drivers seat “Are you ready?” Derek asked sweetly knowing how she felt. Meredith didn’t answer him she just twisted the rings on her finger. Derek sighed and they pulled out of the garage. The ride to the hospital was quiet. When they got there they got out of the car and went inside and into Derek’s office so they could change. After changing they both went to the nurses station for their charts and assignments. Meredith got hers and Derek looked at the patients he would now be taking over. “Chief Shepherd” A nurse said “Glad to see you and Dr. Shepherd are back” She said “It just hasn’t been the same.” She said as she left. Meredith started to walk off to start her day but Derek stopped her “I know you are mad at me for making you leave our babies but you aren’t leaving me without a kiss” Derek chuckled. Meredith sighed at her husband and gave him a quick kiss on the lips as he whispered in her ear “Everything is going to be just fine” Derek said “Love you” He said as they went their separate ways “Love you too” Meredith said It was going to be a long day for Meredith Shepherd and she knew it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Meredith continued with her day, so far she had two patients in need if surgery, a five year old girl and her mother who were in a car accident. The mother’s injuries were okay but the girl had severe bleeding shown in her scans and Meredith was on her way to show Derek the scans. Derek was at the nurses station filling out some paper work and Meredith walked up from behind him and wrapped her arms around him “Hey you” Derek said turning around and kissing her “I hope this isn’t the reaction you give every person that wraps their arms around your waist.” Meredith giggled “Well there is only one person that gets the privilege to do so” Derek smiled “And who might this person be?” Meredith said as they walked into a conference room to review the information from the scans “Oh just a little petite blond with a smoking hot body. You know the type, cute funny with that infectious giggle” Derek chuckled “She’s a bit feisty I say maybe even a little bossy, but it keeps me in line” Derek chuckled “That all sounds right except for the smoking hot body part” Meredith sighed as they sat down “Meri you have a hot body” Derek said “Yeah well apparently you haven’t seen all the excess skin and blubber under these scrubs” Meredith giggled “Which reminds me that when we get home I have to talk to you about another leave from work because of plastic surgery” Meredith sighed “Meri you don’t need it but if it is what you want” Derek said “You can get it” “Now back to work” Meredith giggled “Yes Dr. Shepherd” Derek said in his humorous voice trying to mimic her “You behave” Meredith said “Ellie Toth five years old sever bleeding to the head from a car accident most likely from the impact. Mother Katie Toth thirty-one years old has minor injuries, but she was unconscious at the scene. Ellie is still unconscious and her blood pressure is low but the mother seems to be doing well just a few bruises and broken bones. It looks like the girl didn’t have her car seat in right. It was a booster chair and the fireman told me that she flew right out of the window because the restraints weren’t placed in correctly.” Meredith explained “We need to go in and stop the bleeding or she’s going to bleed to death” Derek said as he examined the scans “Book and OR and tell them it’s an emergency” Derek said standing up as they put all the scans back into the medical folder. “I will see you in the OR” Derek said kissing her lightly before leaving. Meredith sighed and did her job and booked the OR, they had to wait ten more minutes for the OR to clear so she had her interns prep Ellie for surgery. Meredith had a couple more minutes before she had to meet Derek in the scrub room. She pulled out her phone and dialed the phone. “Hello?” Said the other end “Cambria it’s me Meredith” Meredith said “Ah hello Mrs. Shepherd” Cambria said “So how is everything?” Meredith asked “Nothing has changed that much since you have called about an hour ago” Cambria laughed. Meredith had been calling every hour. “Aaden still a bit cranky and wants his mommy but he managed to fall asleep with a teething ring at hand. Alexis so far has been the loudest and surely misses her mommy. I have never seen her so down” Cambria said. “Well tell them I miss them and that I am going to be home soon” Meredith sighed “Oh course Mrs. Shepherd” Cambria said “Well I have a surgery talk to you later” Meredith said as she hung up so Derek won’t see her calling. He has been more relaxed about this situation than she was. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile… Cambria was cleaning the bottles as the babies had just fallen asleep in the swings. She had to admit having four babies was very different than having two but they were very good and only cried if they were hungry, needed a diaper change or just needed a little hug. She was starting to get the change of clothes out since the babies were rather dirty in the outfits Meredith had dressed them into in the morning. Cambria was rather thankful Meredith dressed them in the clothes with their names on it. The girls were identical and the boys were identical so it was rather hard to tell them apart but she already was beginning to notice their different personalities. As she got out the clothes Meredith had set aside she heard the phone ring. “Hello?” Cambria said “Hey Cambria it’s me Derek” Derek sighed on the other end “Oh Mr. Shepherd” Cambria said “What brings you the need to call again?” Cambria said laughing to herself on how often Derek called to tell her the tiniest details, he was worst than Meredith. “Nothing I just wanted to check in and make sure you are still okay and to remind you that our friend Izzie should be stopping b y in thirty minutes or so” Derek said. “Oh well the babies are fine. All sleeping and full tummies.” Cambria said “Well I have a surgery to get to I’ll talk to you later.” Derek said as he hung up the phone. Cambria just laughed and returned to her duties. Derek and Meredith washed their hands getting ready for the surgery “I can’t wait to get home” Meredith sighed Derek just kissed her forehead and they walked into the OR. The surgery went very well Ellie had bad damage done but she would have a full recovery. Her mother was so happy to hear the news. Soon their shifts were over and they were getting into the car and settling in for their drive home. “Der are you sure all the car seats are in properly?” Meredith asked “yes Meri” Derek assured her as the pulled out of the parking lot in their new mini van. Meredith looked at the car seat attachments “I just don’t want any of them to go flying out of the window like Ellie” Meredith sighed shutting her eyes “So how many times did you call the house?” Derek chuckled knowing his wife would call any chance she got. “Oh Not that much, just every hour or two” Meredith said shyly “Geeze Mer a little over protective?” Derek chuckled knowing that he did even worse…but she didn’t have to know that. Soon they pulled into the house and Meredith practically jumped out of the car leaving Derek to carry in her purse and bag. “Mrs. Shepherd!” Cambria greeted “Oh my goodness I have missed you guys” Meredith said as she saw her babies all awake and playing on the floor. She gave each of them a kiss and a hug. Derek soon walked in “Mr. Shepherd” Cambria greeted “Thank you for watching them today Cambria” Derek said “Well I better get going to the guest house” Cambria said as she tried to pick up her purse “nonsense” Meredith said as she hugged each of the babies “Eat dinner with us” Meredith said “I don’t want to intrude on your family time” Cambria said “Don’t be silly now Cambria you are part of the family now” Derek said “Derek, make that chicken stir fry I love” Meredith said “Bossy” Derek chuckled. Meredith gave him ‘the look’ of 'no sex tonight' and he quickly stopped smiling “Fine, I will after I say hello to my babies. Derek said crawling onto the floor. “I’m just going to go to the guest house and change into some fresher clothes” Cambria said “Sure we will call the guest house when dinner is ready” Derek said Meredith lay on the floor with her children and her husband wondering how she could ever love her children and her wonderful husband more than she did at the moment, but then again she thought that everyday, but everyday she finds herself loving them even more. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Review |

Meredith was playing with the babies as Derek made the chicken stir fry in the kitchen. She missed them so much and couldn’t tear apart from them. She brought them into the Master Suite with Derek’s help so she and Derek could change out of their scrubs while the green beans were being steamed. Then they all went back into the living area and they put the “Shepherd Squad” into their bouncers and moved them into the kitchen on the kitchen table to “watch Daddy cook”. Meredith went upstairs to get the dirty clothes from the day and she tossed them into the wash along with taking out the trash can that had a days worth of dirty diapers in it. She tidied up the room and restocked the diapers and wipes for the next day. Soon Derek called her down that dinner was almost ready and she headed downstairs and helped Derek move the quads into the high chairs. The highchair seats were leaned back a little since the quads weren’t strong enough to sit totally on their own yet. Derek continued to finish up his stir fry while Meredith made dinner for the babies which consisted of four ounces of milk and a mix of baby cereal and baby food mixed together each. Tonight it was green beans. Derek called the guest house and told Cambria she could go ahead and come into the main house because the food was ready. “Thank you for having me at Dinner Mrs. and Mr. Shepherd” Cambria thanked “Cambria you feel free to have dinner with us every night.” Derek said “and please enough with the Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd I already feel old” Derek joked” Please it’s Derek and Meredith” Derek said “Well thanks again Meredith and Derek for inviting me for dinner tonight” Cambria said as they took a seat and began to eat. “So how was your day?” Meredith asked “Full of dirty diapers and phone calls” Cambria laughed “Oh I’m sorry I shouldn’t call as much” Meredith said blushing “Don’t be silly” Cambria said “It’s natural. I remember when I first left my kids for the first time” Cambria laughed “But don’t worry you weren’t as bad as your husband who called every time he had a tiny detail he forgot to tell me” Cambria laughed again. Meredith laughed and looked over at Derek who was pretending to not notice Meredith was laughing at him. “And you said I was over protective” Meredith giggled They enjoyed a nice dinner and most of the babies finished their food and soon Cambria called it a night and went back to her room in the guest house. Meredith and Derek gave the babies a bath and put them in their nursery and decided to call it a night. Meredith was already in bed reading her novel when Derek came after working a little in the office. “Hey” Derek said climbing into the bed and nuzzling his nose into her hair “Hmmm” Meredith said closing her book “Ready to call it a night?” Derek asked “Yeah, but I need to talk to you about my surgery” Meredith said “What about it” Derek said propping him self up on his elbow “You are okay with it right? I don’t want you to be upset if I do but I want to have the body you loved before I had the babies” Meredith said starting to ramble. “Meri, I love your body. No matter how chunky, or skin sagging you get I will always find you sexy.” Derek said “But if this surgery is what you want and it’s going to make you happy Meri I’m okay with it as long as it is something you want to do, not just because you think that I don’t find you attractive” Derek finished. Meredith smiled and kissed him softly and they called it a night. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA The Next Morning the alarm went off again and Derek rolled over and shut it off. “Meri rise and shine my sleeping beauty” Derek said nudging her a little trying to encourage her to get up. “Again, why did I want to be a surgeon?” Meredith mumbled as she kissed Derek “Morning” Derek said as they got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. Derek chuckled at Mer’s night wear. She had all these sets of matching pajama sets but she always just wore some soffee shorts and a t-shirt. “What’s so funny?” Mere mumbled as she brushed her teeth “Your night wear” Derek said brushing his teeth “At least I don’t coordinate my sleepwear to match the sheets we are using” Meredith giggled. Derek made a sarcastic offended face. After getting dressed Derek went to make coffee and breakfast while Meredith went to the nursery to pull out the stuff Cambria would need for the day. Soon they traded places and Derek said his good byes to the babies who were still asleep and they gave Cambria the notifications of the day and told her where all the stuff was and Meredith and Derek were off to the hospital. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith waited in a consult room waiting for Mark to arrive. Today she was having her consult done about her tummy tuck. “Alright Meredith let’s see what you got” Mark said as he entered the room “I want a tummy tuck” Meredith said “Well let’s see what I have to work with” Mark said. Meredith lifted her scrub top up to where he could see the excess skin Meredith had “Well looks like you have excess skin from the quads along with the stretch marks” Mark said “I could do an incision here” Mark said using his skin marker on her “and here also, this way you will the least amount of scar to be shown. Now the most of your stretch marks will be gone with the skin that is removed but as for the others I suggest you learn to live with them. They are fairly light and I’ve seen much worse stretch marks.” Mark said. “So when do you plan on having this procedure?” Mark asked “Maybe in the next month or two” Meredith said “I want the babies to be a little more mobile but not crawling before I do this since I won’t be able to lift and chase after them” Meredith said “Okay well let me know so I can schedule you in” Mark said GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith and Derek were having a slow day in Neuro and Meredith had already finished her charts for the day so she decided to go pay her husband a visit. “Hey” Meredith said as she entered his office. “Hey yourself” Derek said as he smiled as his wife came in and sat down in his lap. “So I heard you had the consult with Mark?” Derek said “Yes I did and he says everything should be fine. I’ll still have a couple stretch marks and the scar but overall he thinks it will look great” Meredith smiled “Well good” Derek said “So have you decided when you are having it. You know it takes at least 2-3 weeks to get back to doing some of the things you might want to do” Derek reminded her. “I was thinking maybe next month. The quads will be at the stag right before attempting to crawl so that by the time they start I should be back to my regular self again.” Meredith said “Okay” Derek said. Their day was over soon enough and they went home to find their angels fast asleep in the nursery. They thanked Cambria for the day and informed her about Mer’s surgery and Cambria having to help her afterwards with the babies while she is home on recovery. Meredith packed her bag as Derek cared for the babies this morning before Cambria was going to come in. Today was Mer’s tummy tuck and everything was set for her recovery afterwards. She slowly made her way up the stairs dropping her bag by the staircase so Derek could put it in the car when they left. She made her way to the nursery where Derek was changing diapers. Meredith picked up Michael who was staring at the mobile in his crib. “How’s my baby boy?” Meredith cooed mommy’s going to miss holding you so much” Meredith said giving him a kiss on the forehead. She placed him down and took Aaden from Derek and did the same thing. Next she took Alexis and Emma and Meredith found herself not wanting to leave because if she left she would get the surgery and not be able to hold her babies. “Meri it is going to be okay” Derek said “You will recover fast don’t worry” Derek said as they carried the babies down the stairs and placed them in the swings and waited for Cambria to arrive. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “I’m here to check in for surgery” Meredith said to the lady behind the desk “Just fill out these forms and return them back” The lady said not bothering to look up. Meredith and Derek sat down in the waiting room and Meredith filled out all the forms. Derek watched his wife contently. He was in his scrubs because he would have to work after her surgery was through. Though he wanted to take the day off Meredith insisted he work, but he would pop into her room every now and then to check on her. After about and thirty minute wait she was finally called. “Meredith Shepherd we are ready to prep you for surgery” The Nurse called Meredith and Derek stood up and Derek took her bag and they followed the nurse into the room. “Okay the doctors needs you to take everything off and put on this gown” The nurse instructed “We will be back in about fifteen minutes to prep you and have the doctors come in and talk to you.” She said and left the room. Meredith started to undress but quickly stopped after pulling her shirt off “Why are you staring at me?” Meredith giggled “I’m enjoying the show” Derek chuckled “Oh you are such an ass” Meredith giggled. She continued to undress and Derek tied the back of the gown and Meredith got on the gurney and they waited for the doctors. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Okay Meredith” Mark said as he entered the room “We will be putting you under with a gas instead of an IV drip. The surgery shouldn’t take that long” Mark said to both of them “Do you have any questions?” Mark asked “No” Meredith and Derek said together “Well then I think it is time to get you into the OR” Mark chuckled “Derek take the last look at your wife because when you see her next time she will look like one sexy mommy” Mark teased “She already is one” Derek smirked back. “Oh stop with the crap” Mark chuckled “Say your goodbyes because we are wheeling her in” Mark said putting the sides of the gurney up. “Love you” Meredith said giving Derek a kiss “Love you too” Derek said letting go of her hand “See you in a while” Derek finished as the team of doctors wheeled her out of the room and into the hallway. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Mark stood at the OR table and watched Meredith in her deep sleep. He walked around the table and reviewed all the markings he had made in marker and went through the procedure in his head one final time. Just as he was about to start when he heard the OR door open “Derek what are you doing in here?” Mark asked “If you think that I’m leaving you with my almost naked wife you must be crazy” Derek chuckled “You know this is against the rules for you to be in here right?” Mark chuckled “I am the Chief of Surgery, I can do whatever I please” Derek smirked “Whatever, just don’t get in my way or your wife’s tummy tuck won’t look as good as planned” Mark chuckled as he began the surgery. Today was Meredith’s first day back at home. She was finally strong enough to get out of bed and get ready for the day but Derek still had a strict rule for her not to lift anything heavy which included her babies. Cambria was a big help around the house. She helped Meredith with cleaning the house and caring for the babies when hey wanted to be carried or cuddled with. Derek helped Meredith with coping with the loss of holding her children. He would sit Meredith down and let her hold the babies for awhile even though Mark said she couldn’t do that either. Derek was taking more off days to help around the house but sometimes Meredith would force him out of bed and to get ready for work. But today was different. Derek and Meredith had given Cambria the day off and while Cambria went out of town for the day, Meredith and Derek were going to have some family time. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Meredith was downstairs fixing bottles and filling the diaper bag. Though she couldn’t help Derek get the babies ready she figured she might as well start packing the bag for their day out. Soon Derek brought the girls downstairs and placed them in the car as Meredith sat in the passenger seat. Derek went up and got the boys and buckled them in too. He packed the strollers and a few toys. They babies were now more into holding things in heir hands and for the most part it kept them quiet. They hung little car seat toys on the car seats and the babies were always entertained by them and once they were bored they would try to stick their feet in their mouths. How fast they were growing amazed Meredith. Soon Derek had everything in the car and they were off to their first destination, the park. They strolled around for a bit and watched as the babies reacted to all the noise and sounds of the outdoors. After the park they headed for the mall to buy the babies some clothes and to get Meredith a couple of things too. The babies had gotten cranky on the way and Meredith and Derek pushed the strollers around the mall buying a few outfits for the girls at Oshkosh and a few for the boys at Gymboree while trying to keep the babies quiet. Meredith didn’t find anything she liked so they decided to call it a day. They headed home for lunch and nap time since the babies were so cranky and because Meredith as hungry. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA After placing all the babies in their cribs Derek went downstairs to find Meredith trying to make a sandwich. “Mer honey, in order to have a descent sandwich you are going to need more than Bread and Cheese” Derek chuckled as he came up from behind her “Sandwiches are not my thing” Meredith sighed as she moved over so Derek could do it for her. He made her a turkey sandwich with some chips on the side and he made one for himself too. They sat on the couch and ate their sandwiches as they watched Discovery Health. After lunch they went into their bedroom to rest but they found them selves cuddling together and just staring at each other. Having four infants was exhausting even if you aren’t the one carrying them, you had to clean and pack and by the time you were done there’d be a whole new mess. “So this is the married couple we have become” Meredith giggled softly against Derek’s chest “One that is too tired to have sex and just stares at each other” Meredith giggled “Oh I would so take you now but you are still in recovery” Derek chuckled “But you have to admit Derek our sex life has slowed” Meredith sighed “We are just so tired by the end of he day” Meredith sighed again “Well we could do other things” Derek said giving Meredith his sexy grin “Like what” Meredith asked raising her eyebrow “Like I sad before, I’m all for the kissing” Derek said capturing her lips. The kiss got heated and as much as Derek would like to continue he knew they had to stop. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Soon the babies were awake and Meredith and Derek went to go see them. To their surprise they found Alexis and Emma on the tummies. “Der look they flipped over” Meredith said in awe. “Wait, don’t let them move!” Derek said running out of the room, he returned with a camera. Derek took a few shots of the girls on their tummies for the first time and then Derek placed them on their backs again and turned on the video recording on the camera. “Come on Lex and Em flip again for daddy” Derek cooed at the girls who just looked back and smiled “Come on girls do it for mommy” Meredith encouraged. Emma started to roll off and when Alexis saw her sister moving she decided to go to and they both flipped over. “So they do it for you but not me?” Derek said trying to feign hurt as he picked up Alexis for a diaper change “What can I saw I’m the one who had to carry all four of them and give birth, they better do what I tell them” Meredith giggled as she kept Emma entertained in the crib. Derek just laughed and continued with diaper changing. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA That night Meredith and Derek lay on their bed looking over the baby album they had started for each of the babies. “Oh, god look at me” Meredith said pointing at one of the photo’s in Michaels album; It was Meredith right after birth holding Michael. Her hair was a mess and she was all sweaty but she looked so happy yet worried at the same time. Meredith had to admit. She was so scared going into the whole mother thing. It scared her enough knowing she was going to have a baby and frightened her when she found out she was having four. And as she went into labor Meredith was so scared she didn’t know what she was going to do if all the babies weren’t healthy. But the second she saw them all in their incubators all small, but all healthy, she knew she could do this. She felt so much love for the four little babies that were hers. Meredith sighed as she flipped the album shut. She watched as the man beside her was flipping through another album. Meredith just leaned over and kissed him on the lips. “What was that for?” Derek asked “Because I love you and because you have given me four of the most precious things in my life” Meredith said “I love you too” Derek said as he closed the other albums and kissed her. With that they went to bed holding on to every moment they shared today as a happy family. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA |

It is now October and the fall fever was spreading around. It was time for Halloween preparations. Though Meredith wasn’t big on holidays like this one, but she wanted her kids to remember trick or treating when they were younger although Derek had pointed out they wouldn’t remember this one since the babies were only 5 and a half months. But Meredith insisted which is why they were costume shopping for the babies. Meredith and Derek both had the day off and began their morning with a trip for breakfast at the local bistro and a trip to the near by Party City. “Look at this Derek!” Meredith said as she pushed the stroller with the boys in it. She pointed at the picture of the baby outfit on the wall. “Mer you want to dress them up as doctors?” Derek whined “Mer get more creative, we will be spending Halloween at the hospital party and if they were those scrubs they definitely not winning the creative costume award.” Derek chuckled “What about this?” Derek said pointing at another picture with a baby dressed up as a hot dog. “You have got to be kidding” Meredith said rolling her eyes as she continued to look. “Awww Derek how about these” Meredith said pointing to the set of outfits. “That’s cute Meri” Derek said looking at the pictures. Derek went to find a sales person and asked him to get the outfits from the back. They didn’t bother fitting them because it would be such a hassle. They decided to try them on at home and then if they didn’t fit they’d exchange them. After the trip to Party city they loaded up the car and headed out to the country side of Seattle for the Pumpkin Path Izzie had said was going on. They picked out a pumpkin for each of them. After picking them they went back to the car and by the time they were all loaded up with the strollers and pumpkins the babies were already sleeping. They drove back to the house where Meredith put all the babies in their proper crib. They were all in separate cribs now because they were mobile. They couldn’t crawl but the rolled all over the place. They still shared the nursery though. When Meredith arrived downstairs she was surprised to find Derek covering the kitchen table with newspapers and putting the pumpkins and knives on the table. “What on earth are you doing?” Meredith said as she stood next to him “Pumpkin carving” Derek said sitting down and motioning for her to join him. “Help me” Derek said “I don’t think so” Meredith said “Come on it will be fun” Derek said “Derek I’ve never done this” Meredith said pointing to the pumpkins and knives “There’s a first time for everything.” Derek said as he picked up the knife and placed in Meredith’s hand. Meredith just shrugged her shoulders and shook her head “Whatever” she giggled “So I thought we’d carve out everybody’s faces” Derek said “Derek that sounds complicated” Meredith said “No, what I meant was carve out a face that describes that baby’s personality” Derek chuckled “Oh” Meredith said “Now how do I do this?” Meredith said showing him the knife he had placed in her hand earlier “Well first we need to decided which baby this is” Derek said “Alexis” Meredith said with a smile. And with that Derek taught his wife how to carve pumpkins. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA The Next Day Meredith and Derek woke up to the screams of one of the babies at one in the morning. “I’ll check” Meredith said sleepily “You sleep, you have to go in early today” Derek said getting up and putting on his robe and leaving the bedroom. Up in the nursery Derek had found Michael screaming and Emma whimpering from the noise, but the heavy sleepers, Aaden and Alexis were still in deep slumber. Derek picked up Michael and soothed him before going over to Emma’s crib and patting her back to put her back to sleep. Derek took Michael in to the master bedroom downstairs. “What’s wrong buddy?” Derek cooed at Michael who was still whimpering in his arms “What’s wrong?” Meredith mumbled as she opened her eyes “I think he’s getting sick. He feels a little warm” Derek said getting into bed with Meredith and handing her Michael. “What’s wrong baby?” Meredith said as she cuddled the baby “Derek do we have any medicine? Like Tylenol or Motrin?” Meredith asked “I’ll look” Derek said getting up and leaving the room for the master bathroom where they kept the medication. “What’s wrong Michael?” Meredith cooed as she patted his back trying to calm him down. “Meri there isn’t any in here” Derek called out from the bathroom as he re entered the room “Do you want me to go out?” Derek asked “Derek it’s one in the morning it isn’t the best time to go out” Meredith giggled “But he’s running a fever” Derek said “It can wait, let’s just try to get him to sleep until around five or six” Meredith said “I just don’t want somebody to rob you out on the street, god knows you have a pretty face, but I’m not so sure how well you are with physical defense” Meredith giggled “Are you calling me weak?” Derek said sarcastically “Not at all” Meredith said as she shut off the light and placed Michael between the two of them “We should probably keep him away from the others, we don’t need four sick babies” Derek said “Hmmm” Meredith said half asleep “We have to tell Cambria or I can take off today” Derek said “I am the chief, I can do whatever I want” Derek chuckled “Hmm” Meredith said drifting back off to sleep. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA “Meri?” Derek said as he nudged his wife “Hmmm?” Meredith said waking up slowly “I’m going to run to the pharmacy to pick up some medication for Michael it’s already 5 you should start getting ready for work” he said softly not wanting to wake up Michael. “Hmmm” Meredith said as he gave a kiss goodbye Meredith got up leaving Michael on the bed surrounded by pillows. She got dressed for work and got her bag ready. She carefully picked Michael up and placed him in the swing in the living room and went upstairs to check on the babies. Emma was awake so she changed Emma and brought her downstairs and put her in a swing too. Meredith fixed herself a cup of coffee, actually two, one for right now and one in a mug for her way to work. She fed Emma breakfast which today was baby rice cereal mixed with some Gerber banana food. Soon Derek arrived and they checked Michael’s fever which was still at 100.2 F and gave him some medicine so hopefully bring it down. “I’ll be home around six” Meredith said kissing Derek as she headed towards the garage but hesitated “Maybe I should stay home. Michael’s sick and needs some attention and there are three other babies that I don’t want to get sick” Meredith said putting her bag down “You my dear are going to work, I can handle it, and I’m super dad!” Derek chuckled handing her bag to her “Fine, But I’m going to call you.” Meredith giggled “Just call Cambria in if you need help or call me okay?” Meredith said as Derek pushed her towards the garage “Yes mother” Derek said rolling his eyes and giving her a kiss “See you at six” Derek said ushering her into her car and closing the door for her. Derek watched as Meredith pulled out and waved goodbye and headed back inside to make breakfast and get everybody situated. GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA Well this chapter wasn’t exciting but it leads into a major thing that has to do with the babies and all so yeah please Review/ Comment.
