It would probably be better starting from page one, cuz then anyone who missed the first part can still catch up.
 We definitely aren't moving again, so this will definitely be the last time you have to post the same thing.

Derek leaned over and gave his wife a kiss, "You say you do right now but I know you love me just as much as I love you." Meredith shook her head, "Not so much right now.” She let out a scream as another contraction hit her. . . she took his hand and squeezed, "You see right here... this is why I hate you... You and your stupid boy penis... You did this to me." She said between breathes she was trying her hardest to take. Derek took a wash cloth and wiped her forehead with his free hand and tried not to think about the hand she was squeezing. He also smirked thinking about how they ended up here today, "But Meredith who was it that came to me when Sarah turned 3 and said...Derek I want another baby????? " The contraction ended and Meredith lay back down . . . exhausted from these contractions, "But you were the one agreed with me.” Again he kissed her forehead and sighed a bit. He did hate seeing her in pain, "Sweetheart... I think it went more like this." Meredith had just put 3 year old Sarah to bed.... She kissed her daughters forehead... "Good night princess ... and Happy Birthday...Mommy loves you"... Sarah curled up with her daddy and doctor bear. "Nite mommy." Then she stuck her thumb in her mouth and turned over and closed her eyes... Meredith shut the door... She smiled to herself... She could not believe that her daughter just turned three years old....When she looked up she saw her husband coming out of their son's room.... "Are they sleeping?" Meredith asked Derek as he walked up to her and put his arms around her waist, looking deeply into her eyes... "Out as soon as their heads hit the pillow. What about our little birthday girl?” "Sleeping like an angel." Derek gave her a smile, raising his eyebrows, "Good now its time for mommy and daddy to have some fun." He picked her up and carried her to their room... When he laid her on the bed she just looked up at him...He could read her like a book... He knew something was on her mind, "What?" He asked. She hated it but loved it at the same time... He knew her better than anyone else maybe even better than she knew herself..."Nothing, it is definitely nothing!” Derek shook his head and kissed her. . . he knew better than to believe this from her, "Now..when are you going to learn....I know you....You have something on your mind....Are you going to tell me what it is or are you going to make me guess?” She started to run her hands though his hair, "All I want is for my husband to make love to me." Meredith reached between Derek’s leg..... She could feel him against her. She started to stroke him...He rolled over on top of her and started to kiss her neck....It was not long after they were laying naked in each other arms...They made love over and over that night ... first it was in bed then they made their way to the shower and then back to the bed again...Derek Shepherd could never get enough of his wife.... It was after one o'clock in the morning and Meredith was resting her head on his chest... Derek was running his hands though her hair...."Now would you like to tell me what was on your mind before we had mommy and daddy playtime." She rolled over and looked up at him....She was biting her lower lip... A sure sign that something was on her mind..."Meredith you know you can talk to me about anything." He said hoping she was ok . . . that it wasn’t anything serious. Meredith lowered her eyes ... took a huge breath and let it out, then very softly said......" IthinkIwantanotherbaby" Derek looked down at her.... Did she just say what he thought she said . . . "Meredith can you say that again I don't think I heard you right" He said knowing he did not hear her correctly. She looked up at him..."You heard me all right"... He could not believe she just said this. His Meredith . . . the woman who is the mother to his children, the love of his life . . . the person that when she found out she was pregnant the 1st time freaked out, "Meredith are you sure?" Meredith nodded..."I think so." She nervously smiled not sure what Derek was thinking. They have mentioned it a few times in the past, but both previous pregnancies weren’t planned . . . He was a little worried maybe she was thinking this because of the day. . . Sarah’s birthday. . . ”Do you want a baby because your baby just turned 3?" She went back to resting her head on his chest. "I don't know ...... All I know is that I miss having an infant around... My little girl is not so little anymore and my boy's . . . Well they are just so damn independent... So much more than Sarah was at that age." She said feeling a tear spring up in the corner of both eyes. Derek always wanted more kids... But they had such a hard time after the boys were born... He thought a few times he was going to lose her . . . he didn’t want to see her go through that again. . . for them to go through again. They were the strongest they may have ever been right now. . . "Meredith you know if we have another child that means we go back to New York ." Meredith closed her eyes... "I know but your mother at least she is trying...I mean she was the one to call and ask if she could come out here so she could be here for the boy's 1st Christmas and birthday.... And she backed off...Maybe she got the hint.” He brought his arm around her and held her tightly..."You know there is nothing more than I would love to have more kids with you ... but I want to make sure it is something you really want." She had thought about it... She had been thinking about it for months now....She just had not told anyone...."Derek I know that you think its because I feel like my babies are growing up... But I know I want one more baby...And Derek we are not getting any younger." He brought up her chin so he could look in her eyes..."I could not be happier...If it was up to me we would have a house full of little mini us's running around the house... I love you so much Meredith..... Here is what we can do... You stop taking the pill ... and we will work on having a baby." She looked up at him...."Really?" She gave him a kiss... Their tongues meet ... they danced together....and they made love one more time... She rested his head on his chest...."We are going to have a baby." He said smiling, he would never have suggested it . . . but, he couldn’t be happier . . . Meredith pregnant . . . he loved every second of it. But, he also knew it would be hell for her . . . She laid there in his arms..... She still could not believe she was thinking about how having a baby...... The more she thought about it the more excided she got... But then it hit her.... "But Derek you better only give me one baby this time." He laughed... " I was thinking we could try for triplets this time.." She glared at him...It was something her would say to her.. She just slapped his arm and said " You do and you are never having Sex again Mister" He gave her a kiss on the forehead and said " Good night my love" . Two months had past... Derek got up to go to work... Meredith had the day off so he left quietly... He tried not to wake her up... Once he was out of the room he went to say good bye to his daughter and son's... Meredith woke up a little bit later... Her stomach felt like a hurricane was going to hit it ... she ran to the bathroom and could not help but smile as she just barley made it to the bathroom in time..... Nine months later..... February 21.... [/i] Another contraction hit..... He bent down and gave her a kiss, "I love you so much... You are doing a wonderful job... I am so proud of you." She squeezed his hand again, "You are so lucky you got that thing between your legs fixed a few months ago or you would never be having sex again." Just then Izzie walked though the door...."Well, is my new little niece ready to enter the world?" The contraction ended Meredith let go of Derek's hand, trying to catch her breath, "I don't know if she is ready to enter the world but I know her mommy and daddy would like her to hurry up.... I think her mommy just broke her daddy's hand ... and if she did her grandpa is not going to be very happy.” Derek said sighing . . . he would trade places in a second with her, but he also knew the second she was here. . . Meredith would forget this . . . the pain . . . Meredith just swatted Derek arm, "Pain you think you are in pain...Let me show you pain... Let’s put a tennis ball in that thing between your legs and let see you try to push it out.” He winced thinking about this. . . he figured there wasn’t anything worse than this, but he knew to just stay positive and try to be the loving husband he is. . .Derek bent down and gave her a kiss, "That's OK honey... I think you are doing a wonderful job ... and pain... I can take the pain...I just wish our little girl would hurry up and decide that she wants to meet her mommy and daddy.” While Izzie was examining Meredith she could not help smile... She thought back to the day that they told her she was going to have another baby... She was shocked as everyone else.... But what shocked her even more was when they told her that they only wanted the two of them one nurse and her in the room when they had their last baby....They said that everyone else could wait out in the waiting room ... they wanted to be alone when they brought their last child into the world...Then they shocked her one more time when Meredith was about twenty-five weeks along and asked her to tell them if she was have a boy or a girl...Izzie asked about a million times if they were sure...... Meredith said it did not matter to them as Derek had his princess and she had her prince's but at least this way they could involve Sarah a little more... When Izzie got done examining Meredith she told her it should not be much longer being dilated to 9 and 100% effaced. She said she was going to go out and let everyone know and check on another patient and be back in a few minutes... Just after Izzie left Meredith let out a scream.... Another contraction hit her... This one was the strongest one of them all... Derek hated to see his wife in so much pain... He held onto her...."Breathe Meredith... Come on and Breathe.” Then he brought up the picture of the three kids. “Here focus on this and breathe." Meredith started her breathing. She looked at the picture... It helped... Soon the contraction was over and Izzie was come back into the room..... "OK Meredith you are dilated to 10 and starting to crown... You can start to push." After a few pushes.... Samantha McKenna Shepherd entered the world.....

Derek watches as Meredith feeds their new born child.... They had a new baby to love.... He never thought five years ago they would be here.... In a hospital room having their 4th child..... Tears started to roll down his face when he thought of how close he came to losing everything... He made some pretty bad choices in his life but not telling Meredith about Addison and then not picking her.... He got a lump in this throat just thinking about it... Meredith must have noticed... She looked up at him and smiled.... What is wrong?" He came over and sat next to her on the bed. "Noting everything is just perfect."... Then he bent down and gave his new daughter a kiss." Look at her... She is so beautiful." Meredith looked over at him and then back at the baby. She stroked her cheek..."We do make beautiful children together? ... Don't we." Derek leaned over and gave his wife a kiss. "Yeah we do... But it would be hard not to... Just look at their mother"... Meredith shook her head. He always knew just the thing to say to her. "I think their father had something to do with it.".. . Derek could not stop the tears.... Meredith took her thumb and wiped them away. "I love you so Much Meredith... Thank you for being my wife... I know I don't say it enough . . . and seeing you today going though so much pain to bring such joy into our life.... I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am to be your husband. You are amazing..." Now it was Meredith turn to cry... She wiped the tears...." So not fair to say things like that to me.... Not when I just gave birth and my hormones are all whacked out." "He just laughed... But I do love you." "I love you too." Samantha finished nursing and Meredith gave Derek his daughter to burp.... Derek placed his daughter on his chest and patted her back...She let out a burp... "Now that is my girl ... giving her daddy a burp...." Just then there was a knock on the door. Derek went to answer it but the door flew open. Derek and Meredith saw the faces of their 3 children come running in the room. Steven and Shawn had a balloon in their hand and Sarah had a bear... Tess was right behind them. "Sorry I tried to tell them to wait... But once we had the gifts they could not wait any longer." All three kids were calling out for their mommy and daddy. When they got to the bed Sarah tried to climb up and once Sarah did something her brothers soon followed. Derek handed Samantha to Tess. They went over to the bed to try to stop the 3 of them from climbing. "Ok, you monkeys. No climbing on the bed." Meredith felt bad. Her kids wanted to be near her and she wanted them "Derek cant you just lift them so they can sit next to me?"... Derek shook his head...... She always said he could not say no to them ... but the truth of the matter. They both had a hard time saying no to any of them. "OK guys.... I am going to put you on the bed next to mommy but you have to be still and not hurt mommy. She is very sore.".. Derek put Sarah on the bed then picked up his son's and placed them on the other side of the bed. Sarah leaned over and tried to kiss Meredith.... Then Sarah looked at Meredith tummy... "Mommy were is my sister?" ....For the last 7 months Meredith and Derek had been getting the kids use to the idea of a baby and they always said...Your sister... Derek and Meredith laughed...Sarah was dealing with the new baby so differently then she did with Steven and Shawn. "Tess is holding you baby sister . . . would you guys like to see her?" Sarah enthusiastically nodded yes smiling between her Mom and dad, the boys were busy taking in the surroundings and weren't paying attention all that much. Derek walked over to where Tess had sat in the rocking chair with Samantha. Meredith and Derek were lucky to have her. She was great with the children and they loved her. Derek smiled looking at the newest and last Shepherd and took her from Tess's arm. He walked over to the bed and leaned over the bed so that Sarah and the boys could see her. Meredith watched with tears in her eyes . . . watching her family . . . her complete family, meet for the first time. Sarah was grinning from ear to ear, the same smile as her father. Meredith loved that Sarah was almost a spitting image of him. The twins were a combination of them both and Meredith couldn't wait to see who Samantha would be like. The second the baby was at bed level, Sarah slowly moved closer to the baby, giving her a kiss on her forehead, something she had seen her daddy do when he picked her up from Tess a few minutes ago.... "Hi Sammie I am Sarah your sister...." Derek looked at Meredith and smiled, both of them with tears in their eyes knowing this was their family. Sarah looks around knowing she had picked something out for the baby. "Nana Tessy, present for the baby?" Tess gets up to hand Sarah the bear Sarah picked out all by herself while Meredith was in labor. Meredith smiled, "You got your sister a daddy bear, Bug, you are going to be a wonderful big sister." Sarah's smile quickly turned into a frown as she looked at Meredith, with those eyes . . . the same eyes as her daddy, "NO. . . I have Daddy bear….She can't have daddy bear.... Derek looked at Meredith, unsure what to say, "Princess . . . there can be two daddy bears. You know you have to share.' "NO . . . she can have . . . sister bear." Sarah said emphatically. They both just laughed knowing she was going to be the boss . . . it was something they were worried about, but, they knew she would be protective of her baby sister, "OK, sweetheart, Sister bear sounds perfect" Just then Steven and Shawn started to get bored and they wanted down.... Derek came around and helped them down.... I guess I should be getting them home...Its almost dinner time." "Thanks Tess.... Meredith and I should be home sometime tomorrow if all goes well..". Derek gave Sarah a kiss and told her to be a good girl for Nana Tess and help with her brothers... Then Derek picked up his sons and gave them a kiss... Steven started to cry when he put him down.. "Da Da bye-bye..". Derek bent down to Steven level... "No Stevie...daddy has to stay with mommy..... Now you be a good boy and go home with Nana Tess.".. "No No" Steven clinged to Derek neck... And once Steven started to cry for daddy Shawn was not far behind him... Derek sighed... He did not need this... He did not want to leave his wife alone with their new born daughter.... Meredith felt guilty... She wanted Derek to stay with her but she knew the kids needed him.... "Derek why don’t you go home with them... This little sweet pea and I will be ok"... Derek shook his head... "Meredith I have stayed the 1st night with all of my kids... I am going to do the same with Sam." Steven was not giving up. Derek tried to put him down... But Steven just clinged to his neck and now Shawn were grabbing Derek leg..... Tess came over and tried to take Shawn... Meredith sighed. "Ok Derek here is what you can do.... Take the kids home... Feed them dinner... Give them a bath..... Tuck them into bed and read them a bedtime story.... and once they are in bed and sleep you can come back and spend the night with us"... Derek looked down at his sons....He knew what he should do... He knew Meredith was right but that did not change the fact that he did not like Meredith being alone right now... What Derek did not know was that Meredith had a surprise guest right outside her door...... |

There was a knock on the door... Everyone looked up as the door opened slowly. "Mind if I come in?" The familiar voice said. Meredith got a huge smile on her face. Bug went running over towards the door."Nana Sarah...I had a baby sister today." Ok this is Nana Sarah.. The nanny that watched Meredith from the time she was about 6 to about 14 when Ellis thought she was to old for a nanny. And who Derek and Meredith named thier oldest daughter after...  Everyone started to laugh. Sarah bent down to pick up Bug..."Oh you did... And what did you name your sister?" "Daddy named her Samantha." Sarah gave Bug a kiss on the forehead and walked towards Meredith.... "Well, Samantha is a beautiful name." She reached Meredith's bed and put Bug on the end of the bed. Meredith placed Samantha in Sarah arms." And what a beautiful little girl," ... she gave Samantha a kiss on the forehead.... By now the boys were screaming... Sarah gave Meredith back the baby and went over and bent down to give Derek and the boys a hug, since there was a boy on each knee..."I am sorry I did not mean to overheard ... but it looks like someone wants daddy to go home with them." Derek shook his head.."I don't want to leave Meredith and Sammie." "What if I promise to stay here until you come back... It will give the two of us a chance to have a little girl talk with this little one." Sarah suggested. By now Derek got both boys to stop crying. Derek looked over to Meredith, "Are you sure?" Meredith just nodded. Just then Izzie came into the room, "Hey guys.” Bug wanted to run over to Izzie, but she was on the bed. Bug carefully climbed down the bed with some assistance from Sarah. . . "Aunt Izzie Aunt Izzie..Look I have my sister...and she has sister bear...Not daddy bear...... Just I have daddy bear." Bug said shaking her head... Izzie picked Bug up, "I see you have your sister. And you know what?" Izzie said walking over toward Meredith. "I am sorry but I have to take this little one for a little while." Bug shook her head, saying no. "No Aunt Izzie, Sammie needs to stay with mommy." Meredith told Bug it was OK that Sammie just needs to have a check up by DR King, "I will bring her right back OK." Izzie said warmly. Bug was not sure, "You don't drop her OK." She said giving her the eyes . . . the bossy eyes that Meredith and Derek were getting more and more used to from the almost 4 year old. Izzie laughed... "OK I won’t drop her." Izzie said she would bring her back as soon as she could. Meredith gave Sammie a kiss and told her to be a brave little girl for Aunt Izzie. "Mommy loves you sweet pea." Before Izzie left with Sammie Bug called out, "Aunt Izzie wait." Bug ran to the bed. "Mommy, can I have sister bear please." Meredith got the bear off the table and handed it to her, "Aunt Izzie Sammie is going to need Sister bear." Izzie took the bear from Bug. "Sammie is very lucky to have a big sister like you that is watching out over her." Derek could not help but just feel so happy inside... Sarah was so different this time with Samantha than with her brothers... He hoped that it always stayed this way. By now Steven was almost asleep on Derek lap and Shawn was getting fussy again.... Derek looked over to Meredith... He did not want to leave her but as long as Meredith had Sarah with her he knew she would be fine. "OK if you are sure I will take them home but I will be back in a few hours..." Meredith just nodded. "We will be fine." Derek went over and gave Meredith a kiss. "I love you Meredith." Meredith smiled, "I love you Derek." Derek told Bug to give mommy a kiss. Tess picked Bug up so she could give her mommy a kiss. Meredith stroked her hair, "You be a good girl for Daddy and Nana Tess you hear me." "OK mommy I will I promise" Meredith gave her a kiss...That is my big girl... Next was Steven and Shawn turn to give Mommy a kiss... "You guys be good for daddy also you hear me." Shawn was not sure why his mommy should not go home..."Ma Ma go bye bye.." Meredith shook her head... "No mommy has to stay at the hospital and take care of Sammie" Shawn still was not sure what his mommy was talking about. All He knew that sick people stayed in the hospital. "Ammie tick?" "No, Sammie is just little. The doctors just want to make sure that she is healthy like her bothers and sister... She should be able to go home tomorrow. But tonight it’s just going to be Shawn, Steven and Sarah that get to go home and have daddy time." Shawn started to clap..."Dada going home?" Derek ruffled his son’s hair, "Yes son daddy is going to take you and your brother and sister home." Steven was sleeping on Derek chest so he did not get to give his mommy a kiss... Derek just lowered him over the bed so Meredith could give him a kiss... "Bye pumpkin...mommy loves you" As Derek and Tess started to leave Meredith called out to him....."Derek" He stopped and turned around..."Yes, Honey?" "No Mc Donald's...No matter how much she begs." Meredith said in a quiet tone so that Bug wouldn't hear her. Bug had been on a Mc Donald's kick... She wanted to go everyday because they had the cool new toys in the happy meals from her favorite Disney movie....Enchatnted 2.... Meredith took her to it the day it came out. Bug was just a little over two when the first Enchanted movie came out and she went on for days asking to go see the prince Robert movie again.... Meredith swears they went and seen the movie 10 times before it came out on DVD and once it did Bug watched it everyday.... She even said one day she was going to marry the daddy in the movie when she got older....So when Enchanted 2 came out Meredith could not wait to take her to it......Just some mommy and Bug time and Bug had not stopped talking about it ever since.... Matter of fact she wanted to name her baby sister Giselle. But Meredith just told her that her sister had to have a name that started with a "s" just like her and her brothers.... Derek shook his head, smiling a little because before they had children, Meredith was all for food that came from McDonalds, but now, things had changed, "Don't worry....I can say no to her as good as you can." Meredith laid there shaking her head. Once Derek left the room she looked over at Sarah "How much you want to make me a bet they have Mc Donald's for dinner tonight." Sarah and Meredith talked for a few more minutes... Sarah could not help but notice how much happier Meredith looked after having Sammie then she did when she had the twins... She was worried when Meredith called her and told her that Derek and she were trying for a baby... All she could do was remember how much Meredith struggled the last time...But looking at her now Sarah knew that this time was going to be so different from the last time.... |

Derek loaded the kids up in the new van he had just bought for the Shepherd Family... At first Meredith said that they did not need a new vehicle but Derek told her that with four kids and Tess, the Suv would not work any longer... They had out grown "Big Red.” Meredith was sad when they had to trade it in but she loved the new Nissan Quest Van . . . She said if she was going to drive a van, it had to be loaded out with all of the features. She really didn't want to be that Mom . . . the one that drove the van, but, she has grown to like it over the last few weeks. As soon as they got going Bug asked daddy to put in her favorite CD… Derek knew what one she wanted and he would never admit it he was just a little hurt that the Clash was not her favorite CD anymore.... All she wanted was the CD from her favorite Movie.... He was surprised she didn't want to watch the movie . . . but, the music was better for now. ”What CD do you want me to put in Bug?” Bug shook her head with a playful smile on her face, “Silly daddy...You know... The Prince Robert one.” Derek looked at her in the review mirror and pretended to pout... "You donut want The Clash one—the one that use to be your favorite." Bug shook her head emphatically indicating her answer, “NO daddy Prince Robert... I like him...Please daddy." Derek laughed under his breath. "OK fine just break your daddy' s heart." Derek put in the CD and Carrie Underwood came on...Bug started to try to sing with it. She would not get all the words out but she tried... While they were stopped at the light Bug saw it ... the one restaurant that Meredith told him not to take them to...."Oh daddy please can we go there." She said pointing to Mc Donald's. Tess looked over and shook her head no, smirking a little knowing Bug was going to want to go there. "I don't think so Bug...Nana Tess is going to make a special dinner for you and your brothers tonight.” Derek said trying to ignore her in the review mirror, but she was so cute. Then bug did her thing..... She stuck out her lip... And batted her eyes..."Please . . . pretty please with sugar on top.” Derek hated when she said this. She had learned this from Meredith in the last few weeks. Being pregnant, Derek would do anything for the mother of his children and when she wanted something, she would bat her eyes and say this . . . something Bug was starting to say frequently as well. Derek was a goner when either of his girl's did it... And all three of them knew it, but Derek would never admit to it. He looked over to Tess, “One happy meal between the three of them would not hurt, would it? I will get them the chicken one.” Derek said thinking the chicken was healthier than the hamburger . . . when in all actuality, the chicken nuggets were worse than a hamburger. Tess laughed, “And you think you are going to get away with her sharing her Prince Robert toy?” She knew they would stop the minute Bug said please the first time . . . much less with sugar on top. Derek knew Tess was right and they should just keep going but he had to look in the rear view mirror, seeing his daughter’s eyes that were exactly like his own. The light turned green and he made a U turn, "I will just have to buy two extra toys for the boys.” He said in disbelief that he was actually turning around . . . but, he just couldn't say no to her, much like he couldn't say no to Meredith. Tess just shook her head.... Sarah began to clap..."Thank you daddy...Thank you!” She said excitedly. Derek pulled up in the drive thru and ordered one chicken nugget happy meal, so it could just be a small snack for the kids. “Would you like a boy or a girl toy sir?” Derek said he needed a toy for a girl and then he asked if he could buy two boy toys, “Yes sir that would be fine.” Then Derek was asked what would he like for the drink...He said he wanted the milk... "Chocolate or white sir?" Derek had not been to Mc Donald for a long time. Well, he had but it had always been Meredith that ordered the food. He had no clue he had so many choices when it came to a Happy Meal. "White please.” Derek answered. “Now would you like fries ... or apples with that?” The person asked. Derek shook his head, “Well I guess apples.” Knowing that would be a healthier choice. He looked over to Tess and she nodded her head in agreement. Derek got the Happy Meal and then they headed home. Bug wanted her happy meal right away, but Derek told her there was no food in the car and she would have to wait until they got home for the toys. Once they got home Steven was not awake. Derek took Bug and got her out of the car seat while Tess took Steven out. Then Derek helped Shawn out of the car. All Bug keep asking for was her toy. Once they got in the house, Derek told Bug to get in her chair and he put the boy's in their high chair... He gave each one of them a nugget and some apples and ate the other nugget himself, “This is disgusting. How do you kids like these?” He said almost spitting out the nugget and Bug just looked at him and laughed as she ate her nugget and apples. As they sat there eating Derek got them some milk while Tess started dinner. One of Bug's favorite meals was grilled cheese with ham. It was not long before Bug started to ask for her prince Robert toy.....and then they boys started. He told Tess that he was going to take them down to the basement until dinner was ready. About 20 minutes later Tess came down and told Derek that dinner was ready. He washed everyone's hands and headed up stairs. Once the kids were eating he told Tess that he was going to call Meredith and make sure everything was going OK. |

At the hospital Meredith held Sammie... She could not keep her eyes off her little girl. There was something special about this little girl. A little baby that she never thought would be here. After the twins she just knew that she was done. But something deep inside her the night of Bugs 3rd birthday told her she needed another baby . . . and here it was 11 months later and she was lying in a hospital bed holding her little girl. Sarah just watched. She could not believe this person was the same person she raised . . . The Meredith she knew had been dark and gloomy . . . for many reasons, one being her parents or lack of them, but that was behind her now. She proved to everyone that she could rise above everything and still come out standing . . . be a surgeon, a wife, and a mother to 4 healthy happy children . . . Tears started to roll down Sarah's face. "She really is a beautiful little girl . . . she is such a lucky girl, getting you and Derek for a Mom and dad. You have come a long way Meredith. . . From the rebellious teenager that I remember . . . to now. I want you to know I could not be more proud of you if you were my own daughter." Meredith wiped the tears away . . . Sarah saying these things to her . . . was big. She had always wanted her mother to say these things to her but never heard them from Ellis. Hearing them from Sarah it meant so much more . . . Sarah was the one that knew her better than anyone else in the world . . . expect for Derek. “Thank you Sarah. I think it’s because I had you in my life. I really don't know what would have happen to me if you wouldn’t have answered my mother's ad. I remember my Mom telling me that I had a new nanny starting and that I better be good. I just could not wait to see how long it would be before I ran off another nanny. Guess I was hoping that if I ran off enough my mother would be there for me a little bit more. I just wished . . . my Mom was here to see her grandchildren . . . But then again she would probably be worst then my mother in law. She would let me know what a bad job I am doing. Nothing I ever did was good enough for her.” Meredith finished looking down at Sammie, with a few tears falling down her face. Sarah heart broke. She knew Meredith was right . . . Ellis Grey never once said a nice word about her daughter. She always wanted to know why she didn’t get better grades. Sarah tired to tell her that a straight A report card was the best . . . Ellis just said that she should have had all A+ or taken harder classes... "Meredith you are doing a wonderful job raising your children. I am sure it’s not easy to balance being a mother, wife, and a surgeon. Lord knows you did not have a role model to look up to for that. But, you have over come every hurdle that has come your way. I have to admit when I first found out that you had a child and you still wanted your job I was worried that Bug would suffer, that Tess would end up raising her. But that is definitely not the case. You can tell that Bug and her brother's know how much you and Derek love them.” Meredith shook her head. She handed Sarah a sleeping Sammie... Sarah put Sammie in the bed next to Meredith and covered her up. “Tess is wonderful. I think we would be lost without her . . . not just as a nanny. She is more like a Grandma to the kids. Bug loves Tess and so do Steven and Shawn. Just like I am sure this little sweet pea is going to love her. She never over steps her boundaries with us. If we say no she knows the answer is no. She might not always agree with us . . . but she never corrects us.” Meredith and Sarah talked for a few more minutes and them the phone rang... Meredith picked up the phone, "Hello." She sound tired but good, "Hey baby. How are you doing?” Just hearing the sound of his voice made her smile, “I am OK. Sarah and I are just talking and our little sweet pea is sleeping like an angel.” “That's good... I should not be much longer. The kids are eating and then its bath time.” Derek said glad to hear mom and daughter were doing great. She missed him but she knew the kids needed daddy to be home with them...."Ok now tell me . . . what McDonald's did you stop at on the way home?” He shook his head. How did she know? "What are you talking about... Who said we stopped anywhere?” Meredith laughed . . .She knew her daughter . . . anytime they got in the car and there was a Mc Donald's, Bug would find it. She would be begging to stop and she knew that there were at least 2 Mc Donald's on the way home. “Derek don't try to get out of it. I know you stopped. All Bug has to do is see the golden arches and bat her little eyes and say, ‘Please Daddy... Oh please Daddy . . .’” Meredith said, knowing this was true. Derek really couldn’t say no to those eyes. . .and Meredith knew because she couldn’t say no to the adult version of those eyes. Derek tired to sound hurt, “I don't give in to her anymore than you do.” Meredith shook her head. “See I knew she got her way.” Derek quickly started to defend himself, “But I only got them one to share and I got them apples and not fries and I even made sure it was white milk not chocolate and one piece of chicken nugget is not going to kill them.” Meredith shook her head, “You do know Derek that the chicken is worst for them then the hamburger." “Yeah but it is not everyday they become a big sister or big brother... It was kind of their celebration snack.” He replied with pride in his voice. She knew he would find a way to make it OK that he stopped, "Ok, Derek just promise me that they are eating something healthy now and not having more celebratory snacks.” “Yes, my love, Tess is making them a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and a salad.” “Then I guess it’s not too bad. Just make sure Bug eat everything. She is going to say she does not like the tomatos but she does.” Meredith warned, really wanting to be home with them, but knowing she had to stay at the hospital tonight. “Yes, mommy. We will take care of it... I love you and will see you soon." “I love you Derek... See you in a few hours.” Meredith hung up and Sammie started to fuss. Sarah went over and picked her up and placed her in her mother’s arms. Meredith unbuttoned her nursing gown and Sammie started to nurse. While back home Derek was getting the kids ready for their bath... Tess said she would take care of Bug and Derek took the boys in their bathroom. Once he got the boys to sleep he went to say good night to Bug. He sat down on the edge of the bed, bent over and gave her a kiss. Bug looked at him with her big blue eyes, “Daddy my sister is not in mommy’s tummy anymore?” Derek shook his head. “No princess she is not... She is here now.” Bug put her thumb in her mouth and thought about it, “OK daddy, but how did my sister get in my mommy tummy?” |

Derek Shepherd closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead, Seven months...Seven months Meredith and I wanted for her to ask this question and she has to ask tonight when Meredith isn’t here. . . why tonight? Sarah looked up at him, “What's wrong daddy did I say something bad?" Derek gave out a little laugh, He picked Bug up out of bed and put her on his lap..."No princess you did not say anything bad.” "Oh OK, but daddy where do babies come from?" Derek sighed. He loved his daughter, but she was so much like him. He was very persistent himself; especially as a child . . . he questioned everything. He thought back to the day before his wedding to Meredith when 5 year old Stephanie asked him the question. Then he remembered what Meredith told Stephanie, "Well you know your mommy and daddy love you and your brothers very much right.” Bug stuck her thumb in her mouth and shook her head, indicating she understood. “And you know mommy and daddy love each other very much right" Again Bug shook her head. “Well mommy and daddy put a lot of love in mommies tummy and that love . . . turned out to be a baby . . . Just like each time we had you and your brothers . . . You were all made out of love that mommy and daddy have for each other." Derek smiled thinking about all of the love he had for his wife. She was really amazing and she had given him the best gift any one could give him . . . all the love in the world. Bug thought about it for a minute, keeping her beautiful blue eyes on her father. She took her thumb out of her mouth and sat up to give her daddy a kiss on the cheek.."Oh ok thank you daddy.” She stuck her thumb back in her mouth and reached for her daddy bear, "Daddy?" she said a little muffled. Derek closed his eyes. Twap, What is she going to ask now? ”Yes princess.” "Well you rock me tonight?" He looked down at his little girl. Meredith had been trying for months now to get Bug out of the habit of being rocked to sleep. But it was not working. She loved the alone time she got with her mommy or daddy when she was rocked to sleep. And if the truth was to be told, both Meredith and Derek had a hard time giving up that time alone with her as well. She would always be their first born. Derek stood up, picked Bug up, and carried her over to the rocking chair. As Derek rocked her she sucked her thumb and slowly went to sleep... As soon as he knew she was sleeping Derek but her in bed. He covered her up and kissed her forehead, "Night my little Bug" Derek went one more time to make sure the boy's were both asleep and when he saw them both sleeping Then he went to Sammie room... He smiled as he looked in the room that one day his new born daughter would be in . . . In the same crib that was once used by her older sister. He turned on the light and then went t over to the crib and ran his hand across the railing thinking of Bug. About how once . . . not that long ago, she looked so small sleeping in that bed and now . . . here she was a big sister of three. He shook his head... He had so much to be grateful for... a great life . . . a great job . . . a wonderful and beautiful wife . . . 4 healthy and happy children . . . And to think he had almost given up on the thought of ever having kids. He ran his hand though his hair. Oh yeah and he was also grateful for his great hair... Something that he got from his dad... Then he thought about how much he really did miss his dad and how he wished his dad could have met his children. Derek jut knew that Bug would have her Papa wrapped around his little finger. A tear rolled down Derek face. He wiped the tear away. A few minutes later Derek turned and left Sammie's room. As he walked out he turned around one more time and looked around as he shut the light off. When he got downstairs Tess was just relaxing watching TV. He went and sat in his favorite chair. "The kids are sleeping. Are you sure you don't mind if I go and stay with Meredith tonight?" Tess just shook her head. "No, go on, Meredith needs you and so does that little sweet pea." Derek stood up and walked over to Tess. "Thank you, Tess. Meredith should be released from the hospital sometime in the morning and then we will be home soon after that. We will call as soon as we know what time." Tess knew that they would not be home until later in the day. "Don't worry about things around here. We will find something to keep us busy." Derek smiled, what would they do without Nana Tess, "I don't know if Sarah will be coming back here tonight or not but if she does I will give her the key to the guest house." “She does not have to stay there. Why don't you just tell her to come on in here?" Tess suggested. Derek chuckled, “Yeah I would want her to stay here but I don't think there is space in the house. I can't believe in five years that we have out grown this house.” Tess kind of smiled and nodded, thinking back to the first time Derek gave her a tour of the house. It really did feel like a mansion but now it was a very full house. A house filled with love. |

It was just a little past 9:30 when Derek got back to the hospital. He parked his car in his spot, being head of neurosurgery has its perks and this one definitely one of them and headed up to spend the rest of the night with his wife and daughter. When he reached the room he could hear Sammie crying. He slowly opened the door and watched as Sarah was handing Sammie to Meredith. "I guess I just made it back in for feeding time." Derek smiled watching the love of his life take the creation they made together . . . out of love, just as he had told Bug. Meredith looked up and smiled big. She was glad he was back; she looked over to him, "Derek, will you go to the refrigerator and get her a bottle and warm it up, please?' He looked from Meredith to Sarah and back to Meredith; Meredith giggled watching him looked so confused, "Derek please your daughter is hungry and wants her daddy to feed her." “Why? What happened to you nursing her?" He said a little louder than he wanted. Meredith just looked at him, looking as beautiful as ever, "Derek . . . please . . . we will talk about it when she is done but right now this little Sweet Pea is only thinking of one thing." “I think I am going to go and grab a soda or something. Do you guys need anything?” Sarah asked wanting to give them some time with just the three of them. “I think we are good Sarah, But, give me the camera so I can take some pictures of her first feeding with daddy.” Meredith was excited to give this to Derek. Derek went over to the refrigerator and walked over to the warming pot that Meredith had asked one of the nurses to bring in for her. He was trying to hold his overwhelming excitement to this. He hadn’t been able to feed any of the other children until they were at least six weeks old, but this . . . he was going to hold her. . .so small and perfect and feed her. He had questions, but knew right now, he wanted to do this more than anything. As much as he loved watching Meredith nurse all 3 of the kids, he wanted to feed them, to do more for them. She knew she was going to do this. She just had not told anyone yet. She wanted Derek to be able to do more than burp his new born daughter this time. Derek warmed the bottle and then sat in the chair next to his wife. Meredith handed their daughter to him. He placed the nipple in her mouth. It took a few minutes before Sammie stopped crying. "Come on Sweet Pea . . . It's, OK daddy has you . . . Now come on and eat.” It did not take long before Sammie found the nipple and started to suck. Derek couldn’t help but have a few tears fall. He knew this would be a special moment for him and his youngest child . . . a unique bond that the other Shepherd children didn’t have with him. There Derek was holding and feeding his 13 hour old daughter. As he feed her he continued to talk to her. He stroked her little cheek, "Daddy loves you Sweet Pea. Yes, you are our little Sweet Pea.” He bent down and kissed her forehead. As he continued to feed her he kept talking to her. When she finished eating, she was almost asleep. Derek wanted to burp her as well, but wasn’t sure if Meredith would want to. He looked over at his wife and she just smiled and said, “Go ahead and burp her too, daddy.” He smiled and grabbed the burp cloth he had over his forearm and put it over his shoulder. He hated to disrupt her as she looked perfect lying in his arms. “Come on, my Sweet Pea, you have to burp for daddy.” He said very quietly, putting her over his shoulder and gently patting her back. He did burp the other children, but this . . . doing it all . . . it was just perfect. He looked at Meredith and with every child, he didn’t think he could love her anymore, but in this moment, his heart spilled over for her. “Thank you, for giving me this. You have no idea . . .” Tears started to form again at the corners of his eyes. “I know Derek; I wanted this to be special for you and Sammie. I mean. . . Each of the kids should have something special with their daddy.” Meredith was really glad she had thought about this. She wanted to give him something and she had no idea what. He has always showered her with gifts through the years and she wanted to give him something back and knew this was something that he would really . . . love. The rest of the time he burped her, all you could hear is the camera clicking from the pictures Meredith was taking and the small whisperings of Derek in Sammie’s ear. When Sammie burped, he got up to change her real quick before she went to sleep which would last around two hours. When he was done and had her in the bassinet, Derek on the corner of the bed, sat down, and put his arm around the other side of her, “So, have you had a chance to talk to Cristina yet?” Meredith nodded. She still could not believe that Cristina missed the birth of the last Shepherd child but she could not really blame them for not being here. It was not everyday the board comes up to the chief of surgery and say's ‘You have one hour to pack you bags and get to the airport for a 3 week all expense paid trip to Europe.’ Meredith was happy for them because the two of them had not had a real vacation in years. It was just want they both needed. "I called her while you were gone. She said she was sorry that she could not be here but we would get together at Moses Lake when we get back from New York." Sarah came back in the room as Derek and Meredith sat talking about Cristina. She was getting tired so she said that she was going to head their house. Derek gave her the keys to the guest house and the van. He gave Meredith a kiss and said he would be right back that he was just going to walk Sarah out. Sarah told Meredith to get some rest and she would see them in the morning. When Derek and Sarah got to the van, Derek made sure that everything was set for Meredith’s surprise tomorrow. "Don't worry about a thing. Mark and I have everything under control. Mark is going to come over in the morning and take me to pick it up and then I am come here to pick you guys up.” Sarah said. He thanked her one more time then watched as she drove off. He then headed back into the hospital to join his wife and daughter. 4 |

At 4 am Derek and Meredith woke up by the sweet sounds of a new born's cry. Derek was laying next to Meredith spooning her. Meredith moved to get up and Derek just gave her a kiss and said he would get her. Meredith laid back down. As Derek got up her rubbed his tired eyes. He bent down and kissed her daughter. "Good Morning Sweet Pea. Did you sleep well the past hour and a half?" He loved being a father and would not change this for the world but this the lack of sleep is what he could do without. He did not think Sammie slept for more than 90 minutes at a time since she was born. He handed his daughter to his wife and as soon as Sammie was in Meredith’s arm she was looking for something to eat. Meredith undid her gown and Sammie started to nurse. Meredith looked down at her. She still could not believe that she was a mother of four. Never in her wildest dreams would she thought she would be a mother but she was now nursing her 4th child. Meredith looked over at Derek sitting in the chair next to them and saw that he had fallen back to sleep. Meredith bent down and said "We have to be quiet, daddy is sleeping"..... It was almost like Sammie understood her mommy as she grabbed onto her finger and continued to suck... "Oh look at you. Such a strong grip you have." Meredith kept on whispering to her daughter. 'You are such a lucky little girl to have such a good dad. He takes such good care of us. He loves us so much. Not only do you have a great daddy you have a wonderful big sister and two big brothers that I am sure that will pick on you... But I know they will love their baby sister." Sammie never took her eyes off her mommy or she never loosened her grip on her finger. Once she was done nursing Meredith burped her and was about to get up and change her diaper. Her movements must have woke Derek up. Derek shook his head and rubbed his eyes. "I am sorry... I must have dozed off..Here let me take her." He was so tired and still insisted on taking care of Sammie at the 1 am and the 2:30 am feeding. "Its ok you got her the last two times. It's my turn." Meredith said. He shook his head. "You should not be out of bed yet." She just laughed; she loved that he was so worried about her. "Derek I just gave birth to my fourth child. Me getting out of this bed is not going to kill me." He let her put their daughter back to bed. He came up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her neck. He started to run his hands thought her hair. "I love you Meredith. Thank you for making my life complete." She leaned back and rested her head on his chest. "I love you too Derek. Thank you for giving me the family I never thought I would have." They both gave Sammie a kiss and Derek lead Meredith back to bed. |

They laid there holding each other... Meredith looked up to Derek. Today Sarah asked what they were going to do for Bug's birthday. Meredith told her that she really had not thought about it but she wanted to do something special for her. As she was nursing Sammie it hit her... They were going to have to go to New York around Bug's birthday... She just had to talk to Derek about it. And this seemed to be the perfect time. "Derek?" "Yes, Meredith." He closed his eyes breathing her in. She looked up at him... She knew he would be over the moon once she told him what was on her mind.... "You know how we always take the kids to NY when they are 4 weeks old." He closed his eyes... He really did not want to ruin this time... This was their time and to think about her trying to get out of it... His mother was already making plans as soon as he called her this morning to tell her that Sammie was here. She even said "See you on the 20th." "Meredith you knew we we would go to New York 4 weeks after Sammie was born. We talked about it.. You said that you were fine with that. You even said that it was my mom that made the 1st move... And now..." She cut him off... "Derek would you let me finish please?" He sighed….”ok go on” She giggled because she knew that is what he was going to think...That she was going to try to get out of it, "I was just thinking that Bug's birthday is on the 12th. Its only three weeks away... But we could go to New York on the 10th and be there for her birthday so your family can share it with her... You know we can even start a tradition out of it... All the kids get their 4th birthday in New York." Derek could not believe what he just heard. He pushed Meredith back from him just a bit to get a good look at her. "Did I just hear you right? Because I swear I did not. Because if I did I would say you are suggesting we go to New York for her birthday and then for all of the kids 4th birthday." She cuddled back up in his arms, "You heard me just fine... I think that Bug would love to celebrate her birthday with her daddy's family. We could even ask Mark and Addie to meet us there. I think it would be fun. He kissed her forehead. "I think that is a wonderful idea. I cant wait to call my mom and sisters and tell them. They are going to love spending time with her on her birthday." Now the hard part.. She had to tell me that she did not want to stay at his mom's. She took a huge sigh. "Derek there is one more thing." He knew that there had to be a thing... There was always a thing... But right now life was good. He could deal with anything right now. 'What is it baby?" She looked up at him with her eyes.. The eyes he never could say no to.. Then she bit her lower lip. "Well, we always have stayed at your mom's and in the past that has not worked out so well. And with four kids I just think we need the extra space." He hated it because he knew she was right. He knew his mom would not be happy them staying in a hotel but he would just have to make it work. "Yes, I think so." Meredith laid there in his arms. "Oh I can’t wait to ask Addie if they want to meet us there. We will have so much fun taking the kids to the zoo and to central park." She kept going, pausing in between each thought, thinking about her family, the one she never thought she would have, "And I think the kids will love to go back to the museum that we went to the last time. What do you think?" She waited for an answer. When she did not get one she looked down at him and saw that he was fast asleep. She shook her head and gave him a kiss. Then closed her eyes and tried to get some rest herself because she knew it would not be long before Samantha would be ready to eat again. |

Meredith and Derek were sitting on the bed watching Sammie sleep. She finally decided that she was tired and slept for more the 90 minutes. There was a knock at the door Derek got up to answer it. By the time he got to the door Alex George and jess were walking in. Jess shook her head. "I told them to wait but do they ever listen ?" {This is Jess Conner....George's girlfriend... she is a reporter for the Seattle Times...}  Alex just walked by Derek and went over to give Meredith a kiss. "If we waited for them to answer the door we could be waiting out in the hall forever." Jess came over and handed Derek the flowers they had gotten for Meredith and gave Meredith a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks Jess you did not have to do that" Derek sat the flowers next to the flowers that his mother had sent them. "We wanted to... Jess looked at Sammie sleeping...... "I mean just look at her she is beautiful...She deserve them and so do you." Alex laughed... "I think she just pops out kids so she gets flowers from us.' Meredith reached for Derek hand...." Yeah your right Alex I go though nine months of weight gain...... Morning sickness...mood swings just to get flowers from you."... Sammie let out a little cry. Derek went over to the refrigerator to get a bottle . Meredith picked her up and then looked over at Jess. "Would you like to hold her?" Jess eyes widen... She really had never held a new born before.... "Oh I don't know... I would not want to hurt her' Meredith laughed. "She is not made of glass... Just hold her head." Meredith handed Sammie to Jess. George just watched. He then came around to stand beside Sammie and Jess. He put his arm around his girlfriend then looked up at Meredith. "You did good mommy..." Meredith smiled... The picture of George and Jess with a baby... They would make a cute baby together. "Thanks George but I think I had some help from my good looking husband over here." Derek bent down and gave Meredith a kiss... As they were saying their goodbye's Izzie came in. Izzie came over and looked at Jess holding Sammie. "Oh look at you. Don't you look cute holding a baby.".. Jess laughed.. She never thought about how cute she was holding a baby... "Really?" Izzie just nodded... "And you look natural holding her"... Alex came around and put his arms around his wife. "So Georgie when are you going to when are you finally going to step up and ask Jess to marry you" George looked around all eyes were on him. ' Well we hummm We..' Alex could not help it George looked like a deer looking in head lights. "Come on Georgie you have been dating for over 4 years and living together for more than 2 years....' Izzie left her husband arms... "Alex would you leave them alone... Look how long it took you to step up to the plate before you asked me to marry you." Alex was about to say something and Meredith knew she had to save him.... "Hey Izzie did you come to see me as a patient or did you come to see your niece?" Alex looked over and Meredith and mouthed out "Thank you" "Well I came in as your doctor. I hate to say this but I need to kick everyone out of the room so I can give you a check up and then take this little Sweet pea to Dr King to make sure she is ok and if all is ok you can go home this morning. Dr.. The Shepherds Doctor....  Meredith looked at Derek "Derek do you want to ask or should I" Derek nodded. "Go ahead" Meredith smiled at her friends. " Well we wanted to ask when everyone was together but who knows when that will be. We will just ask Cristina and Burke when we see them...... Alex Izzie George we have asked you every time to be our children God parents and we just wanted to make sure you are will to be here for our youngest child." Izzie came over to give Meredith a hug. "You know that it would be our honor to be her God parents." With a few hugs everyone left and Izzie gave Meredith her check up and said she was ok to go and then she took Sammie from her and said she would be back with her in a few minutes. Derek and Meredith laid in each other arms waiting for their daughter to come back. |

About 20 minutes later Izzie came back and told them they were free to go. Meredith could not wait to get home and start her life with her family. Once Izzie left Derek started getting all their stuff together. Meredith called Sarah to see if she could come to get them. Sarah smiled. If she only knew that Sarah was at the hospital waiting in Mark's office just waiting for the phone call. "Sure I will be there in a few minutes" "Thanks and can you let Tess know that we should be home soon," Derek looked up. "Meredith that is ok I will call Tess and let her know we will be home soon Sarah does not need to do it." Meredith told Sarah not to worry about telling Tess because her husband was up to something. Once Meredith hung up Derek came over to Meredith and gave her a kiss. "What are you up to mister?" Derek just shook his head. "I am kissing my wife is there anything wrong with that?" Derek smiled and kiss her again. He hands started to go though her hair. She responded back by deepening the kiss. But they were interrupted by someone walking in on them. "Don't you two every stop. I mean come on give the lady a break. She just had a kid." Derek pulled back. Derek looked up and saw Mark and Addison in the room. "Sorry I can't help it. I have a hot wife." Addie come over and gave Meredith a kiss and looked down at Sammie. "Meredith she is beautiful and her name I just love it Where did you come up with it?" Meredith looked over to Derek. Just thinking back. "We had to come up with a "S" name and when we had the boys Samantha was one name that we picked out when I went into labor. I like it every since and the McKenna, Well we asked everyone there middle names and when we asked Joe he told us his middle name was Kenneth. We were kind of hoping he had a unisex kind of name so we could use it some how. You know we thought it would be cute to name our daughter after the person that was responsible for really bring us together but once we found out his name was Kenneth we gave up hope until one night Derek and I were looking up names in a baby book and we saw the name McKenna. We just knew we had to give her that as a middle name. Mc for mc Dreamy and Ken for Joe." Mark could not help but laugh "So you named your daughter after a bar. That is so Meredith." Derek shook his head. He should have known that Mark would make some kind of comment like that . 'Not after a bar you idiot after the bar owner." "But still after a guy that has a bar. Does Joe know this yet?" "No Meredith wanted to wait for her to actually be her before we told anyone her name. You know just in case she was a he" "You know once he finds out that the kid is named after him you will be in trouble once she turns 21... It will be drinks on him. I hope your daughter somehow does not have her mothers taste in alcohol." Addie hit him. "Stop it Mark I think its cute." Meredith asked Addie if she wanted to hold Samantha... Addie hold out her hand to take the baby from Meredith but Mark stopped her... 'Just remember that there will be no more babies of us... It seems like every time Shepherd here has a baby you end.... Mark...... I want another baby.... So I am just saying No" Addie shook her head "I am sorry guy's I should have left him in his office with".... Derek looked up and shook his head. This did not go un noticed by Meredith. "Ok what is going on?' "Nothing I just should not have brought Mark with me I should have left him in his office with all of his paper work." Derek shook his head... Meredith looked around the room..."Paper work is the best you could come up with? Come on tell me or give me back my child." Derek needed to change the subject and fast... "Meredith why don't you talk to Mark and Addie about what we needed to talk to them about." "I will when you tell me what is going on?' Derek came over and gave her a kiss. "Fine if you don't want to ask them I will. ' Now Addison wanted to know what was going on. "What's up?" Derek continued "Well you know we take the kids to New York when they are four weeks old. But this time we thought we would take them a week early so we can be there for Bug's 4th birthday... And well we want to know if you would like to meet us up there so we can all be together." Addie was shocked. Five years ago these two people hated them and now here they were asking them to go on a family vacation with them. Addison could not be more pleased.... All the damage that was done was truly in the past. Mark nodded. "I think that would be a great idea. I am sure mom would love it. I will talk to the chief today and see if we can get some time off." They four of them talked for a few more minutes. Derek called Tess to tell them that were getting ready to leave and would be home soon. After a few minutes of talking Mark was paged so Addie handed Sammie back to Meredith and said that they would talk to them soon. By the time Sarah showed up at the hospital Meredith had Sammie dressed and ready to go. Derek had called of a wheelchair. "Seriously Derek really I have done thing before I don't think I really need that thing." Just then the Chief walked in. "My grand daughter will be leaving this hospital just like any other child. Now if you want to get home to my other grand children you will sit in that chair and let your husband push you out.' Meredith sulked. "Fine" She sat in the wheel chair and said "Just give me my child." The chief looked at Meredith. Before you go do you mind if I hold my grand child for a minute. Derek placed Sammie in The Chief arms. The Chief looked down at this child. ' She looks so much like Ellis.' Meredith smiled. "Yes she definitely looks just like my mother." Richard kiss Sammie forehead. Then looked back at Meredith and Derek. "I want you to know there is a trust fund set up for her just like her sister and brothers. For them to use while they are in collage." Meredith shook her head. "You know you don't have to do that." The chief nodded. "Yes I do.. They won't be able to use it until they go to collage but then when they are studying they still can have fun and think of Grandpa Richard." Richard handed Sammie back to Meredith and said he would talk to them soon. Derek said that he was going to go ahead and get the van ready. He gave Meredith a kiss and said he would meet them out in front in a minute. Meredith shook her head as she watched Derek leave. She looked up at Sarah. "I don't know what that man is up to but I know it's something and if you are in on it and not telling me."... Sarah laughed. "Meredith you think way to much... As Derek said he is just going to get the car and bring it up to you." "Fine you say that now but I know him and he is up to something" As they headed towards the elevator they were stopped by a few people all telling Meredith how cute Sammie was. When the go outside she saw Derek. She looked for the van and could not see it all she was the silver Mercedes S65 AMG that Derek was leaning against.  "Where . . . Where is the van?" Meredith asked, while never keeping her eyes off of the Mercedes that was parked in front of the hospital door. Derek gave her the McDreamy smile, "It's at home." "Then . . . how exactly did Sarah get here and how . . . are we getting home?" She tried to reason this out because there was no way this car was hers . . . she knew what this car cost, it was her dream car. Derek leaned off of the car to put his hand on her chin, "I am driving us there." He said quietly. "In what?" Her eyes moved to meet his beautiful blue eyes. "In this . . " "This . . . we are going home in this?" She turned to look at the car, running her hand over the top of the car, looking in amazement. "We are . . . the most incredible woman in the world is the proud new owner of it." Meredith sharply turn her head to meet his eyes, "Derek Shepherd, I better be the most incredible woman in the world." He laughed, "You definitely are, you just made my life complete. You . . . Meredith Shepherd are the most amazing woman. You are the love of my life . . . the mother of my children and you . . . this is for you. I love you." "I love you too, but I think you have lost your mind . . . this car . . . it is . . . god, it is fine." She was so surprised she didn't even know what to say. She knew this was almost a $200,000 vehicle, but boy did she love it. "I was hoping you would like it. It is just what you wanted, fully loaded with anything you could possibly want. I hope it is ok . . ." He said smiling knowing it was more than ok . . . she looked like a kid on Christmas with the best present ever in the world. "Derek, I just . . . wow . . ." She said as she opened the car door to look inside. He just stood there with a huge smile on his face. He was very happy he decided to get this car from her. Seeing her expression, it was worth every penny, not that money was really an issue. She could not understand he just went out and got her a new van... and now this. "But Derek where is the van? I cant use this car with 4 kids.' Derek could not help but laugh. He came over and gave both her and Sammie a kiss... He then took Sammie from her so he could put her in the car seat. Sweethart... This car... Its for not meant for the mommy Meredith....Its for the other Meredith when she is not with the kids... I wanted to give you something just for you.. Meredith could not believe this... When they went looking for the van she saw this car and told Derek how much she wanted it but she knew with 4 kids it just would not work for her... She never really thought about it again and now... now he had gone out and got her one. She gave him a kiss....."Derek Shepherd I love you" He kissed her back... "I love you Meredith now are you ready to take it for a spin?" "I am . . . I just wish I could drive. So, you better . . . be careful with it." She warned. He tried not to laugh at her, "I will be careful." He took out the keys, they loaded Sammie in the back with Sarah. It had just enough room for the carseat. As Derek was putting Sammie in the carseat Meredith kept asking "Are you sure that the car seat it in right?" Sarah just patted Meredith on the shoulder. "Don't worry Mark spent over 20 minutes bitching at the car dealer about how he did not know what he was doing. The manager assured him that he was doing it correctly." Mark was not sure if it would fit but it did, just barely. "Are you ready, momma?" He said as he got in the driver's seat and she was beside him, looking at him with wide eyes and big grin, so excited about her new car. "I have never been more ready. This . . . you are . . . I love you so much Derek." "I know . . . thank you Meredith, I really . . . you have given me so much more than I ever thought I would have and this . . . is just a little something to show you . . . how much . . . how thankful I am for you and for giving me 4 amazing children." Meredith smiled at him as she heard the engine roar when he cranked the car up. They sat, hand in hand . . . happily going home, with their newest and last Shepherd baby. They had it all . . |

The boy’s were napping and Bug was keeping herself busy waiting for her mommy and daddy to come home. Tess had told her that they were on the way home and Bug said she wanted to make something for her baby sister. Tess had just finished cleaning up the mess the boys had made and then went over to see what Bug was doing… “ce qui sont vous faisant?”(what are you making?)Bug stopped what she was doing and looked up… “ma famille” (my family) Tess smiled…. Bug always had loved to draw and for being so young Tess thought she was pretty good at it… She really did show real talent.” “qui est ceci” (who is this?) Tess pointed to what looked like a man. Bug looked down. “mon papa” (my dad) With a chuckle Tess said “ regardez ces cheveux” (look at this hair) Bug giggled… “drôle” (funny)….. Then Tess pointed to a women….“qui est ceci” (who is this?) Bug looked up and Tess and then back at the picture. “ma maman” (my mom) Tess smiled “beau” (beautiful) Bug just nodded. Tess continued to point to the other people… “qui est ceci” (who is this?) Bug though about it for a minute… brothers was a word that she had a hard time saying in French… Tess helped her out…. “frères” Bug nodded “mes frères” (my brothers) Tess smiled and ruffled Bug’s hair. “Very good Bug” Bug looked up and smiled. Ok we have one last person. “qui est ceci” (who is this?) Bug smiled…. “ma soeur” (my sister)….. Tess was so proud of Bug had really picked up French faster then she thought she would… She gave Bug a hug…. “Bug you did a great job drawing your family your mommy and daddy will love it…”Do you want to put it on the refrigerator so we can show it to them when they get home?” Bug nodded but then went to say “ But Nana Tess I am not done yet?” Tess looked at her. “What do you mean? You have your mommy daddy brothers and sister.” Bug just looked at her. “But I need to put my Nana Tess in with my family. Tess’s heart just swelled with joy… Since the day she started watching Bug she thought of her has a grandchild and now four years later Bug was telling her she was a part of her family…. Tess took Bug in her arms..” Je t'aime Bogue” (I love you Bug) Bug hugged Tess back “Je t'aime Nana Tess” ( love you Nana Tess) Bug went back to coloring and Tess just sat and watched… Soon they heard the sound they had been waiting to hear….. Ok I know the French is not perfect but it was the best I could do using the Translation thingy off the internet so please if anyone speaks French and I messed up their language please forgive me... |

Once they pulled into the garage Meredith did not want to get out of the car. She still could not believe Derek went out and got her the dream car they talked about but then again he did not get his nickname Mc Dreamy for no reason. Derek and Sarah got out of the car. Derek went to the back seat and got out Sammie. "We are home Sweet Pea." He kissed Sammie on the forehead. He then noticed that Meredith was not getting out of the car. He came around with Sammie in his arms and went to Meredith side of the car. "Meredith what is wrong.' Meredith just shook her head. "Then way are you not getting out of the car?' She just could not get the smile off her face. "I don't think I can leave this seat" He leaned over and gave her a kiss. "I am glad you like your car but I don't think you can live in it' Derek held Sammie in one hand and with the other hand helped Meredith get out of the car. Sarah had gone ahead and gone in the house so she could take pictures of the three of them coming in the house of the first time. Derek let Meredith walk in first and when she did Bug came running up to her. "Mommy mommy your home' Meredith wanted to pick her up but she knew the rule no lifting. So she quickly moved to a chair and sat down. "Oh Bug come here and let me see you. Bug went over to her mommy and climbed up on her lap. Meredith kissed the top of her head. Derek stood in the back ground with Sammie and just watched while Sarah took video pictures. "I missed you mommy." Meredith ruffled her hair. "You silly thing I was just gone for one night.' Bug looked up at her with those eyes... "I know but I still missed you." Derek hated to break up the little reunion but he was kind of feeling left out. "What about me did you miss me?" Bug looked over to see her daddy standing in the corner. She got down off Meredith lap. "Do you have me sister?' Derek had to laugh. Here he was looking for her to say "yes I missed you' and all she wanted to know is if he had her sister. "Yes I have Sammie" But went to the refrigerator and pulled off the picture that she had made. "Here I made this for Sammie." Derek handed the baby to Tess and picked up Bug. "Oh Bug look at this. Sammie is going to love it." Bug smiled. "Look daddy this is you and this is your hair. Its funny huh daddy?" Derek took the picture from Bug. "You did a great job." Just then they heard the sounds of the twins calling. Meredith immediately started to get up. Derek put Bug down. "Bug why don't you go over to your mommy and show her the picture. I' am sure she can't wait to see it." Meredith knew what Derek was trying to do. "Derek I will go and get the boys. Derek came over and gave her a kiss. "I will be right back down with them. You stay her with your daughters and let me have some time with my sons" By now Bug was over trying to show her mommy the picture. Derek left and Meredith picked Bug up and put her back on her lap. "Now let me see this picture of your daddy and his funny hair." After a few minutes in then kitchen they moved into the living room. Tess laid Sammie down in the bassinet and went over and sat on the couch next to Meredith and Bug. While looking at the picture Sammie started to fuss. Bug jumped off the couch. "Mommy Sammie is crying" Meredith could not help but laugh... "Yes I can hear her." Meredith Tess and Sarah just sat and watched Bug and her sister. Bug went up to her baby sister. " shhh baby... its ok" Bug started to rock the bassinet... It's ok baby Your big sister is here. Sammie stopped crying... Bug looked over to Meredith and said "Mommy look she is sucking her thumb just like me." Meredith shook her head... They had seen the ultra sound pictures of Sammie sucking her thumb just like they Bug did but so far Sammie had not found her thumb.. Meredith got up and picked Sammie up out of the bed. "You must be hungry Sweet Pea... Let's get you something a little better than that thumb." Meredith sat down in the chair and lifted her shirt and put a blanket over Sammie... As soon as Sammie found what she was looking for she started to suck. Just then Derek and the boys came down the stairs. When Steven and Shawn saw their mommy sitting on the couch they went running. "Ma ma Ma ma." It had not even been 24 hours since she seen her sons but she missed them. She wanted to hold them but she was just a little busy. She looked over to Derek for help. "Hey guys I know that you want your mommy but why don't we go play down stairs for a little while and as soon as Mommy is done feeding Sammie she will be down to play with us. Shawn was not sure if he like that idea... He wanted his mommy and he started to cry. "No ma ma stay....' Meredith bent over and gave him a kiss.. Then gave Steven a kiss. "Hey guys why don't you go down and feed fishes and mommy will be down in a few minutes ok" Derek took Steven and Shawn's hand... Come on daddy wants to see you guys jump." The three of them started towards the basement. Steven turned around. "Arah you come?' Bug tried to climb up on the couch. "No I stay with mommy?' Meredith sighed. She gave Sarah a kiss.... "Bug can you do mommy a favor." "Yes mommy I help you... I am big now." Meredith laughed..."Yes and so much help so right now I need yo to go with your daddy and help him take care of Steven and Shawn.... Can you do that?" "Mommy I help you" Derek came up to the couch.....But Bug daddy needs you.... I can't do this alone... your brothers want to play with you... You need to show them how to jump" Meredith nodded.... "Its OK Bug Mommy will be down in a few minutes. "Ok mommy." Meredith smiled as she watched her husband and three older children headed to play... While Derek was down playing with the kids Meredith Sarah and Tess talked. After Meredith was done feed her daughter they headed downstairs..... They spent the day playing with the kids. That night after the kids went to bed Derek and Meredith said their goodnights to Sarah and Tess and headed up stairs with Sammie. As they laid in each others arms they talked about the day.... "Bug is doing so much better with Sammie then she did with the boys' Derek kiss her forehead.... "That's because she does not remember being an only child... And we have been talking to her for the past seven months about being a big sister and how much fun it will be to have a baby in the house." She closed her eyes. "Where has the time has gone Its seems like just yesterday that she was the baby of the house." "Do you have any idea of what your baby asked me last night." She was almost afraid to ask..... "What did she ask this time...?' He laughed...."She asked the dreaded question... how did Sammie get in her mommies tummy.?' Meredith pushed away from him a bit.... "What did you tell her?" He took a breath... thinking back to the night that he told his daughter that they were made out of love... 'Well I just told her the same thing you told Stephanie... That all four of them were made out of love...' Meredith could not help but smile... Just thinking about the love that she had for this man.... She gave him a kiss.... he rolled over on top of her... She started to run her hands though his hair... She could feel him get her against her.... He knew he had to stop...... He pulled away.... She sighed... He gave her a kiss on the forehead....I am sorry I should not have done that... She put her head on his chest..."You don't have to be sorry... I like when you kiss me... "I know and I like kissing you...more kissing I say but we have to wait... "We should be use to this... We have gone though this just a few times before... I still cant believe that we are parents to four kids Derek." Meredith put her head on his chest.. She played with the hair on his chest... He placed small little kisses on her forehead... Derek thought about being a father... and to four.. when he had this house built they had four extra rooms built never did he think that they would all be filled.... "You know Meredith I have been thinking.... This house... five years ago it was huge..but it does not feel so big anymore.... I think we need to bring Mr Lee back while we are gone to New York... You know to add a play room that is not in the basement... Give Tess some more room... and maybe add on another bedroom or two. Meredith was all for it until the part of adding more bedrooms.... "Why more bedrooms... Derek there are no more kids...... We had that taken care of remember.... 3 months ago... You went and got that thing between your legs fixed.".. Derek laughed... "No baby no more kids... but what happens when we have an extra guest... Just like when now... Sarah has to use the guest house." Meredith knew he was right... They really had outgrown the house.... "But Derek how is Mr Lee going to get all of that done in a week... it took him almost a week just to put on Tess's room when Bug was born.' Derek had already thought about that.... "Well... You know we could give Mr Lee more time.".. Meredith shook her head...'Derek we cant stay in New York for more than a week... Its great that your mom and I are getting along... But Derek two weeks.' He gave her a kiss..... after all this time he still loved it when she rambled. "I know... one week in New York... but there is no reason why we have to come home... What do you think about taking the kids to San Diego for a week... We could take them to Sea World. and to the zoo... Bug would love the zoo... and maybe even take a trip up to Carlsbad and go Legoland..' Meredith eyes lit up... 'Really San Diego the zoo and Shamu?..." He loved hearing the excitement in her voice. 'yeah I was thinking.... Tess could go to see her family and then meet up with us in San Diego" Meredith thought about it for a minute...." You know Derek as much as I love Tess I think I would love it if just this time it could be us... Just you me and the kids.... We never had a chance to just to be a family.' The thought about spending a week with just her and the kids could not make him any more happier and to know it was Meredith idea just made it all that much better... "I think its would be great and I think Tess would love the time off.".. They laid in bed talking for a little bit longer until they heard the sound of Sammie cry's... For the next 4 hours Sammie decided that she wanted to spend time with her mommy and daddy... Finally at 1 am Sammie went to sleep... but only for the next 90 minutes... "I think your daughter has her days and nights mixed up...You better do something about that.' Derek got up out of bed..."My daughter.....Why is it when they do something wrong they are mine but any other time they are ours." Derek handed Sammie to her and Meredith sat up and nursed.... "Because when they keep me up all night it is something that their daddy would do." As Sammie nursed sat Derek sat next to them and just watched as mother and daughter bonded |

It had been a week since Samantha McKenna entered the world. Sadly Nana Sarah had to go home early because she got a phone call saying her little girl was not feeling well. The Shepherd's are slowly getting in a routine. Sammie would be up all night and sleep all day... Both Derek and Meredith were exhausted Thank goodness they had Tess... Meredith hated depending on her as much as they did but with Sammie not sleeping during the night they needed to sleep sometime. Meredith and Derek were laying in each other arms just waiting for the day to start. The morning sun was just coming up over the horizon. Derek kissed Meredith forehead. "Good Morning my love" Meredith sighed. "Morning"...She closed her eyes. " Can you tell my why if we have 4 sleeping kids why we both are awake before the sun is up.?" Derek smiled... "Because this is the only time of the day that we have just to ourselves" Meredith snuggled up closer to her husband. Yes she loved being a mom but she missed this... Just laying her Derek arms. 'What do you say this afternoon we give Tess the day off and we take Sammie on her first ferry boat ride?" Derek could not think of a better way to spend the afternoon. "You know that sound like a great idea. Tess has not had a day to herself in over two weeks. I am sure that she would like to go and see Emmie." Just then they heard the sounds that they have heard most of the night. The sounds of Sammie's cry Meredith sighed and started to get out of bed. Derek pulled her back. " Why don't you go take a shower and I will get her." Meredith shook her head. "I don't mind I will get her." "It's ok I have to get up anyway and call my mom... I have not called her since Sammie was born and I need to let her know that we will not be staying there and that we are coming for Sarah's birthday." Meredith laid back down and Derek got up and picked Sammie up. Meredith watched has father and daughter bonded. Derek kissed her forehead. "Good morning Sweet Pea... What do you say we get something to eat and call Grandma?" Derek went to the kitchen and got Sammie a bottle as he feed his daughter he called his mom. When Helen Shepherd heard the phone ring she looked at the caller ID and got a huge smile on her face when she saw it was her son. "Derek!!!" Just hearing his mom's voice made Derek smile... He really did miss his mom and sister and wished they could see each other a little more. But would not tread this life for anything... "Hey mom How are you?" "I am doing great... I cant wait to see you guys. Do you have your flights?" Derek could not wait to tell her that they we coming a week early so they could celebrate Sarah birthday with them. " Mom.... That's why I am calling I need to talk to you about us coming to New York." All the sudden the smile left Helen's face. "Derek please don't tell me you are not coming... I miss my grand children so much..And Stephanie is already counting the days before you get here..." Derek looked down at his daughter and smiled.... "No mom we are coming.... That's the thing I wanted to talk to you about... Meredith came up with a great idea She wants to be there for Sarah 4th birthday" Helen could not believe it... "Oh Derek that is wonderful... Your sisters are going to love it... Sarah is going to have the best party ever...What kind of party does she want... I will have Nancy start planing in today.... Oh do you want us to invite Dave and Deb?... What about." Derek could not help but smile... He knew that his mom was going to be trilled and he had not told her everything yet.... "Mom slow down... I think just with family it will be enough plus mom I have not told you the best news yet." Helen stopped... The best news.. Could it be...No she would not hope that he would tell her they were moving back to New York... "The best news??? Derek there is only one thing that could make this better and I know you moving back here is out of the question." Derek laughed... "Yes mom you are right we are not moving back but we have asked Mark Addie and the kids to come with us." Helen was shocked... She knew that her "sons" they were friends again but to take a family trip together. She got tears in her eyes... "Oh Derek that is wonderful... The whole family together again... I am just sorry that your Uncle Erick and Aunt Annie are going to miss it." Derek was a little confused. "Why where is Uncle Erick?" "He is taking Annie on a two week cruise.... They leave on the 9th.." Derek felt bad that he was going to miss his Uncle but still...He was going to be with his mom and sisters and that was the important thing. "We will see him the next time... Meredith wants to make sure that each one of the kids get a trip to New York for there 4th birthday." Helen Shepherd was dumbfounded. "This was Meredith idea?" Sammie was done eating and Derek was now burping her. "Yes mom.... It was all Meredith idea... She knows how much you guys the kids and she feels bad that you guys don't get to spend as much time with them so she came up with this. She really wants the you to be part of the kids lives." Helen thought for a few minutes.... Her daughter in law really was a special person... After all she had done to try to push her away and she still wanted her kids to be part of her life. More tears started to flow... "Oh Derek tell Meredith I said thank you and that I cant wait to see her... And Derek tell her I am really sorry for the way I have treated her in the past." Sammie was now sleeping so Derek got up and put her in her little bed so he could finish talking to his mom. "She knows and the best thing to do is to let it rest... We have talked about it and now we have moved on... Lets just act like the last trip never happen"... "Derek I really do feel bad. I should never." Derek stopped her... "Mom Meredith is a great mother.. We might not be raising the kids your way but so far the way we are raising them is working.... Sarah is just so smart and she is loved be everyone.... She is a well behaved little girl and the boys... Well lets just say they are boys...And Sammie well she has her days and nights mixed up. Other than that she is perfect... So mom I say whatever we are doing...It might now be the way you did it but its working for us...So please when we come let us continue doing it our way.." What Derek did not know was that Meredith was standing at the top of the stairs listening to him telling his mother what a great mother he though she was.... Tears came to her eyes... Then she heard him bring up the next subject... The one she knew is mother was going to freak out over... She wanted to be there to support him. she climbed down the stairs. "Mom there is one more thing." Helen took a breath she did not like the sound of this.... Whatever it was it was not going to be good.... "Go on Derek" Derek looked up and saw Meredith coming down the stairs. He smiled as she sat next to him. "Mom we have been thinking... With four small kids... We think that it would be best if we found a Hotel to say at... We just need the extra space and a place to unwind at the end of the night... Helen sat on the other end of the phone not saying anything.... She loved having her son and his children with her.... and now he just told her that he was not planning on staying with her. "Derek... Why... Things went ok when I was there for the boys birthday. Meredith and I we worked though things." Derek knew this was going to be hard on his mom.... "Mom this has nothing to do with you and Meredith..It has to do with the space we need... And the kids needed a place to unwind at night....So I am just going to look into getting us a suite...." Derek mom was quiet for a few minutes... At 1st Derek was worried.... "Mom are you still there?" "Yeah I am still here I was just thinking....Your Uncle.... He is not going to be home. Why don't you think of staying at his house... Its big enough for all for you and you don't need to stay at a hotel." Derek though about it... It really was not a bad idea... A house would be so much better than a hotel.... But he would have to think about it.... "Why don't I call Uncle Erick and talk to him about it..." Just then Derek heard the boys starting to cry... He told his mom that he needed to go to he would call her later in the week to tell her what they were going to do... -------------------- |

After talking to his mother Derek and Meredith went up to start their day...They knew that as soon as one child started crying the rest of the house would be up. Meredith told Derek that she had this and he could go take a shower. He gave her a kiss and said he would not be long.She walked into the boy's room and saw Steven standing up waiting for someone to pick him up. As soon as he saw his mommy he smiled and threw his hands up in the air. "Mama.." Meredith went over to him. She picked him up at of his crib and gave him a kiss. Shh Stevie... Your brother is still sleeping... We dont want to wake up... Meredith grabbed a diaper and some wipes and carried to her room so she could change him. "Hey how is mommy's big boy..." Steven put his head on her chest. Steven was such a little love. He loved giving hugs and kisses to everyone. He was always a happy baby... He always had a smile on his face. She gave him kisses on his tummy and he laughed. Once in his mommy room Steven looked for his daddy. "Mama...Dada at? Meredith took off her son diaper....Your daddy is taking a shower do you want to take a shower with him? Steven shook his head..."Yes please mama." Meredith walked into the bathroom and opened the shower door. Derek jumped a little "Someone wants to take a shower with his daddy." Derek gave her a smile... "You want to make it a family shower?" Meredith just shook her head..." “Just take you son..” Derek picked Steven up and whispered in his ear "your mommy is no fun..” Just then Meredith heard little foot steps running down the hall… With a little voice yelling… “Mommy Mommy” Meredith quickly went to the hallway. “Sarah please keep your voice down your brother and sister are still sleeping” Sarah looked up to her mommy then back down. “I am sorry mommy…” Meredith ruffled her hair…. “I know you are Bug… We just have to remember that just because you are awake does not mean everyone in the house is.” Meredith took Sarah hand… What do you say we go take a bath…Your daddy is taking us for a surprise today… Sarah got a huge smile on her face…. “Oh mommy what is it?’ Meredith laughed…”Now if I told you it would not be a surprise now would it.” Sarah just shook her head. As they walked down the hall Sarah saw Tess… She let go of her mommy’s and went running up to Tess.. Nana Tessy…. "Daddy is taking me for a surprise today…Do you know what it is?" Tess bent down and gave Sarah a kiss “No Sarah I don’t know what your daddy has planned for the day.” Meredith then looked at her daughter…"Sarah it not just you your daddy has a surprise for…. We are taking your brothers and sister as well and giving Nana Tess the day off.." Tess looked at Meredith and smiled.. Meredith mouthed out the word “ferryboat” to Tess… Tess just smiled… She knew that the ferryboats were a very special place for Derek and Meredith… Just then Shawn started to cry… Tess said she would go and get him up and get him ready for the day… “Thanks Tess.” Once the kids were ready Tess went down and made breakfast for everyone. After breakfast Meredith went up to get Sammie ready… She told Derek that she would be a few minutes because she was going to feed Sammie before they left… So Derek took the kids downstairs to play…. 45 minutes later they were ready to go. They loaded the kids up in the van and told Tess to have a nice day.. |

As they drove to the ferryboat Sarah kept asking where they were going…. “You are just going to have to wait and see…” As soon as they pulled up to the docks Sarah and the boys started to clap… All three of them said…”Oh Daddy… ferry boats…” Derek and Meredith looked at each other… They loved that their children inherited their love for the ferryboats…. Derek pulled the car into the parking spot and got out the van… He told everyone to sit still while he and mommy got things ready… The kids were so excited it was hard for them to stay still….. Derek got the stroller out of the car… He put Sammie in back and then got Steven and Shawn out of the van and helped them in the stroller… When Sarah got out of the van she looked at the stroller then back up at her daddy… “Daddy were is my spot?” Meredith looked at Derek….She hated the fact that Sarah felt left out… But what were they going to do??? Derek bent down… “Sarah you are a big girl now…. We have to have a place for Sammie.." Sarah started to pout…. She stuck out her lip…”But daddy that's my spot” Meredith's heart broke the one thing she did not want was for Sarah to feel like Sammie was taking over… Sarah was doing so well with Sammie now this.. Derek got an idea… “You know what Sarah… I think daddy has a new special spot just for Sarah… We will call it the Sarah spot how’s that????’ Sarah got a huge smile on her face….”Where is it daddy???” “Well we are going to have to ask mommy to push the stroller” Sarah looked over to her mommy and said “please mommy will you push the stroller “ Meredith looked over to Derek… What was he going to do?? As Meredith pushed the stroller Derek picked Sarah up and placed her on his shoulders.. The frown that Sarah had on her face was now replaced with a huge smile… Meredith shook her head… She just knew that this was not going to be the best idea that Derek came up with because Sarah was getting to big to be on his shoulder and once the boys saw she knew that they would want to be up there… But for now just seeing the smile on her daughters face she could not help smile herself…. So off they went… Derek bought the tickets and then they headed for the ferryboats… Once they got on Derek took Sarah off his shoulders….. “What do you think of the Sarah spot??” Sarah went up to her daddy and gave him a huge hug and a kiss… “It’s the best spot in the whole world.” The found a little corner space that no one else was around.. they let the boys out of the stroller. Meredith pulled out some of Steven and Shawn favorite toys and place them on the ground right in front of them so they could play. Meredith watched as all three of her kids played together... Of course Sarah had to be the leader and tell the boys what to do.... Meredith leaned into Derek arms... "You know its not going to last forever." Derek looked at her..."What is not going to last???? " “The boys letting Sarah tell them what to do.... They are going to figure it out and once they do....Watch out... Sarah is not going to know what hit her.” Derek laughed... "Yeah but by the time they figure it out she will have this little one to boss around..." Meredith shook head… “I have a feeling that Sammie is going to give Sarah a run for her money… I don’t think she is going to let Sarah boss her around for very long… Sammie already has her ideas and nothing is going to change her mind.” Derek gave Meredith a Mc Dreamy smile. “ We will have to worry about that when the time comes…. I am sure Sarah will find a way to boss her little sister around…. Just then Sarah came up to her them…. “Mommy Stevie stinks…” Derek and Meredith looked at each other… It was really hard to laugh at some of the things Sarah said but to come out and say her brother stinks…. “Sarah that is not a nice thing to say” Sarah winkled up her nose….”But he does. He has a yuckie diaper.” “Ok but still… You don’t say that your brother sinks.” Derek told Meredith that he would go take care of it…. “You might as well take both of them.” Derek grabbed the diaper bag. “Come on boys lets go” Sarah came up and sat next to her mommy. “Stevie and Shawn need to learn to use the potty…Like me mommy” Meredith knew it was true… But as independent as they were they showed no signs of learning to use the potty. “They will Sarah… It just takes time… You use to use a diaper… Just like your brothers.” Sarah shook her head… “Going potty in your diaper is gross…That is what the potty is for” Meredith laughed…How did her daughter ever get so smart… “When you are little you don’t know any better…Its not until you are bigger you find out what the potty is for.. One day Steven and Shawn will figure it out… Then it will be Sammie's turn.” As mother and daughter waited for they guys to get back they talked… Meredith told her that they were going to go see Nana in New York and all of her cousins for her birthday. Sarah got so excided… When Derek got back Sarah went running up to him. “Daddy daddy guess what… We are going to go see Nana and my cousins in” …… She looked over at her mommy for help….. Meredith nodded “New York” “Yeah New York for my birthday.” Meredith put the boys on her lap and Derek picked Sarah up and then sat down with her… “Oh really… And did your mommy tell you want else we are doing for your birthday?” Sarah shook her head… “No she just said we are going to see Nana” Derek could not wait to tell them. Sarah had seen the ads on TV so many times for Sea World and asked almost every time when they could go see Shamu. “Well we are going to New York for a week… And Uncle Mark and Aunt Addie will meet us there with Timmy and Maddie but after that…. Mommy daddy… Sarah Steven Shawn and Sammie are going to San Diego.” Sarah looked at her daddy.. She was confused.. “What’s San Diego Daddy?” Well San Diego is where Shamu lives.” Sarah got off Dereks lap and started jumping up and down.. “Oh daddy Shamu really?” Once Sarah was down Steven and Shawn was right behind her… Jumping up and down. Steven and Shawn started to clap. “Shamu Shamu” Derek looked at Steven and Shawn. Then back over to Meredith… “Do they even know why they are getting so excided over?” Meredith shook her head. “No they are just coping their big sister.” Shawn came over to Derek “Da Da… Go now Shamu?” Derek picked Shawn up and tossed him in the air. “No but very soon.” As he put Shawn back on the ground Sammie decided it was time to eat… Meredith looked around there was no one else around so she decided to nurse her… She picked Sammie up out of her car seat… “I know you just did not want to be left out of the all fun right Sweet Pea?” Meredith lifted her shirt and then put a blanket over Sammie and she started to nurse…This was one of the 1st times that Meredith nursed in front of the kids… Most of the time for the last week the only time she nursed was at night… any other time she was giving her the bottle. Sarah stopped what she was doing and came over and sat next to her mommy.. She looked over at Meredith and then to Derek with those great big blue eyes.. Then she did what she had seen her mother do so many times when she was thinking… She bite on her lower lip… Derek heart just melted when she did it… “Sarah what’s wrong baby?’ Sarah looked back up to her daddy. “What is mommy doing with Sammie?” Meredith looked up to Derek.. Derek just shook his head… “Oh no I got the how did the baby get in mommy’s tummy… this is all yours.” Under Meredith breath she said “thanks.” She then looked down at her daughter…. “Well Sarah mommy is feeding Sammie.” Again Sarah bite her lip… A sure sign she was thinking…. Meredith knew there was going to be more….and sure enough Sarah looked back up to her mommy. “How?” Meredith again looked at Derek… Derek just shook his head… Meredith took a huge breath…They have always said they would be straight with their kids.. She was just hoping questions like this would come much later… “Well Sarah… When you become a mommy”….. Derek just gulped thinking of one day his baby girl being a mommy… Meredith just glared at him… “Would you like to do this?” Derek just shook his head… Meredith continued… “When you become a mommy your breast gets milk in them and that is the food for the baby.” Sarah thought about it… “But the milk comes in the bottle…” Sometimes Meredith wished Sarah was not so smart but she knew the only way for Sarah to learn was to ask questions…. “Yes your right… Mommy puts the milk in the bottle so Nana Tess and Daddy can feed Sammie..” Sarah was not sure about all of this so she looked up at her daddy… Derek could tell Sarah wanted reassurance of what her mommy just told her so Derek shook his head. Once Derek assurance her she was fine and went back to playing with her brothers… Meredith took a huge breath… “I was so not ready for that.” Derek put his arm around her and gave her a kiss on the forehead. “You did a wonderful job…” Meredith finished nursing Sammie and started to burp her… After a few burps Sammie was back sleeping… Meredith was torn she wanted Sammie to stay up for longer periods of the day so she would sleep more at night but she also knew Sammie needed her sleep so when Sammie decided it was time to sleep Meredith let her….Meredith put Sammie back in her car seat and told the boys it was time to get back in the stroller so they could go as the ferryboat was pulling back into the dock. Once the boys were in the stroller Sarah looked up at her daddy…. “Daddy do I get my Sarah spot?” Meredith knew Derek made a mistake by telling Sarah that she had a spot of her very own on his shoulders… But she also knew that Sarah had a very special place in her daddy’s heart and always would. Meredith took over the stroller and Derek picked Sarah up and put him on his shoulders… and they headed back to the van and once everyone was in the van they headed home. |

Once they got home Meredith took the kids to the basement to let them play while Derek fixed lunch. They had not been home long when Meredith’s phone rang. She looked at the caller Id and smiled when she saw it was Izzie… She picked up the phone…”hello” Izzie smiled… She had not talked to Meredith in almost a week now. “Hey mommy how are things going?” Meredith nodded her head. “Great!!! Derek and I took Sammie on her first ferryboat ride today.” Izzie gave off a little chuckle. “You would have thought that with you two as parents she would have been on one before now…” Meredith shook her head… Everyone that knew Derek and Meredith knew they had a love for the ferryboats but not many of them knew why… “If Derek had his way his daughter would have born on a ferryboat.” Izzie laughed…”I could just see that… I was just waiting for you to tell me that Derek wanted to name his daughter Ferryboat Shepherd.” Meredith and Izzie continued to talk… Izzie told Meredith that she thought that George was getting close to asking Jess to marry him… Meredith could not be happier for the two of them… For the past 4 years George and Jess spent every free minute they had together… Once Izzie and Alex got married George moved out of the house and in with Jess but whenever the question came up about marriage he just said that they were not ready. Just then Derek came down to let Meredith know that lunch was ready… Meredith told Izzie that she would talk to her later as lunch was ready… But before Meredith hung up Izzie told her that everyone was meeting at Joe’s tonight and they would love for them to join the fun… Meredith could not help but smile. She had not been to Joe's for the last few months and she missed going…. “That sounds like fun..I will talk to Derek and see if Tess can watch the kids… We gave her the day off but she should be home soon. Once she hung up Derek looked at her… “What sounds like fun” She just smiled… “Everyone is going to be a Joe's tonight..” Derek put his arms around her. “I think that is a wonderful idea… We have not seen everyone in a few weeks. We can talk to Mark and Addie and see how their plans are coming for New York.” Meredith told the kids to wash their hands because lunch was ready… Once they had lunch they laid the kids down for a nap and then headed for their room… They were hoping to get a nap in but Samantha had other plans for her mommy and daddy. |

Meredith was so excited… They were going out…Just her and her husband to meet their friends. They had not been out together in weeks… But that is what happens when you are parents to four kids… But tonight they were going to Joe’s. She could not wait to tell Joe that they named their youngest child after him… Once Meredith was done getting ready she went to find Derek and the kids… She found them in the basement playing. When Sarah saw her mommy she came up to her… “Mommy daddy says you are going out tonight?" Meredith smiled.. “Yes daddy is taking mommy to meet Aunt Izzie Uncle Alex and Aunt Addie and Uncle Mark.” Sarah gave Meredith the look…”Mommy I want to come with you.” Meredith sat down and brought Sarah over to her lap… “Sarah I need you to be a big girl and stay her and help Nana Tess with Sammie…” Tears started to form in Sarah eyes… Meredith knew that leaving them was going to be hard… except for the night she had Sammie she has been with the kids 24 a day for the past 4 weeks… “Sarah please mommy and daddy are going to go and talk to Aunt Addie and Uncle Mark about going to New York with us… You want Timmy and Maddie to be there for your birthday right?” Sarah nodded her head…Meredith gave her a hug… “Well we need to set everything up… “ Sarah stuck out her lip..” But why can't I go with you” Meredith could see this was not working… So she was just going to be honest whit her. “Because Sarah mommy and daddy need time together to have grown up talk…. Now I want you got be a big girl and help Nana Tess with your brothers and sister… Maybe you can help give Sammie her bottle” Sarah face lit up… She loved holding Sammie bottle for her. “Ok mommy.” Meredith ruffled her little girls hair..”That my big girl..” She then went to say good bye to Steven and Shawn. She gave the boys a kiss and told them to be good for Nana Tess. As they walked out they told Tess if she needed anything to call… When they got to the garage Derek went to get in the car… Meredith just stepped in front of the door. Derek just looked at her...“And what do you think you are doing?” Meredith shook her head…" you see my husband bought this car for me…I am going to drive… you go sit over there..” Derek did not want to laugh but it was hard not to..”But I know how you drive…” “If you don't like my driving then you can get in your car and drive yourself but this is my car… It’s bad enough I did not get to be the first one to drive it.” Derek knew he was not going to win he opened the door for her and let her get in… Then he went to the other side to get in… When they got to Joe’s Izzie and George was already there. Izzie stood up and motioned them over to the table… "Meredith look at you… you look wonderful… you know I hate you right now right???" Meredith was taken aback by Izzie comment…”Why?" "Because look at you… you just had your 4th child and you look great… it took me months to get my shape back after I had Nicky." "Well I guess it’s running after the 3 other ones that has helped… They keep my going” Just then the bell rang. Meredith notice how nervous George was watching as the people walked in and saw the looking of disappointment when it was not Jess.. “George is something wrong?” George quickly shook his head…”No nothing is wrong. Why do you ask? Everything is fine” Meredith and Izzie looked at each other… “Ok George you are sounding like me…. I am the one that says everything is fine…When its clearly not so what gives?” George shoved his hands in his pockets and looked over at Meredith…”I am fine…I am just waiting for Jess to get here…” Again the bell rang… George got a huge smile on his face when he saw his girlfriend walk in… He walked away from the table to meet her. “He is acting very strange even for George.” Meredith looked at Izzie…”you don't think he is going to ask her tonight to marry him do you?” Izzie shook her head…”No he would have told me…” Meredith looked over to the two of them..” Izzie I am not so sure…Look at him… he has not stopped smiling since she walked in… and he won't take his out of his pocket…” Izzie was in denial.. “No I am his best friend we tell each other everything….He would have told me” “Izzie I bet you $50.00 and a night of babysitting that he will ask her tonight.” “Your on..” Jess and George got back to the table just as Mark and Addie walked in… Addie looked around… “Izzie where is Alex?” Izzie smiled..”He was going to be here but got called in surgery at the last minute.. He told me to come and he would meet us… he should not be long…” Just then Joe came over. He gave Meredith a hug… “so I see you had the baby…’ Derek and Meredith smiled at each other… They could not wait to tell Joe they named their baby after him.. “We did.. Just a little over a week ago…” "So was the doctor right… Did you have another little girl?"… “We did… Samantha McKenna Shepherd… Joe smiled…"What a pretty name and so different…” Derek looked over at Joe. He put his arm around Meredith …”She was named after a good friend of ours…. One that was responsible for bringing us together"… Everyone knew that they named Samantha after Joe…. They all smiled and looked at him… Joe was confused at why everyone was staring at him… Why is everyone staring at me??? They all started to laugh... Then he thought about it.... McKenna...He looked up at Derek and Meredith. His mouth dropped open... “Really you did that... you named her after me??? Meredith gave Derek a kiss... "Yes Joe... Derek and I we meet at this bar.. Right over there at those bar stools. We could not think of a better way to say thank you than naming our daughter after you. Joe's came around and hugged both of them... Meredith swears there was a tear in Joe’s eyes... “Ok a round of dinks on me.” Everyone started to clap…. Meredith said to him. “Oh great you buy a round of drinks for everyone when I can't drink... and I am the one that gave birth to the child” Joe gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry you have a round coming as soon as you can drink.” After the round of drinks Mark and Derek went to play darts while Meredith Addie and Izzie talked about New York. Addie let Meredith know that they were giving the time off and Mark had booked the air plane tickets to go at the same time they were going…. Meredith could not wait… This was the 11st time she was really looking forward to going to New York… She was getting along with her mother in law… And when Derek told his mother they were not staying at her house she did not flip out as bad as they thought she would.. Matter of fact she was the one that suggested they stay at Derek uncle house. Seems that they were going to be on a cruise. George and Jess were in their own little world talking and kissing. But Meredith could not help but notice that every time someone opened up the door George would look up… “George are you waiting for someone???” George looked over to Meredith..” I just thought Alex would be here by now.” Meredith just left it… But she knew something was defiantly up with George… |

They were all sitting at the table. George kept looking at his watch…He knew that Jess was going to want to go home soon and he still had something to do tonight but he wanted all of his friends there… “Izzie when did you say Alex was going to be here?” Izzie shook her head…” I don't know he was called into surgery about an hour before I left… it should have been over by now… I am sure he will be here shortly..” Just then Alex walked in… George took a huge breath in… Meredith looked over to Izzie… she did not know what was going on… but she knew something was going on.. Alex came over and gave Izzie a kiss…” how did the surgery turn out?” “Great… It was a little boy that was on his heelys and trip going into a sliding glass window… he messed up his face pretty bad but I think I was able to save him from a lot of scaring.”? George did not say anything he got up and walked over to the jute box… He stood there for a few seconds with his hands in his pockets… Meredith looked over to Izzie..”I think you are going to loose..” Izzie had been talking Alex ever since he got there she did not even notice… she looked up and saw George just standing there… After a few seconds George but money in and soon Shania Twain’s From This Moment came on… I just swear That I'll always be there I'd give anything and everything And I'll always care Through weakness and strength Happiness and sorrow For better - for worse I will love you With every beat of my heart Jess looked up… she knew that George knew that Shania was one of her favorite singers.. Now and forever..” George got up off his knees and placed the ring on her finger then looked back at all of his friends… “she said yes!!!!! Jess Conner said yes… We are getting married.” The bar erupted in cheers… George and Jess walked back to the table… Izzie was the first one to greet them… “Oh George I am so happy for you… but you should have told me.” He just held Jess… “I am sorry… I just wanted to ask her when everyone was together. Just like when we meet… Meredith came up an gave him a hug…”congratulations …I am happy for you.” Next up was Alex… “its about time… You should have this years ago.” “Thanks man… As Alex started to walk away George pulled him back..”You will be my best man right” Alex gave George a hug… Well it was more than a pat on the back..”yeah” George shook his head… he should have known not to get more out of Alex. Joe came up to the table… “Well its not everyday two people get engaged on my dance floor… So another round of drinks on me…” Meredith looked over to Izzie…’ I will take my $50.00 now and they baby sitting when we get home from New York..’ Izzie pulled out her wallet and handed her a $50.00… “I am so going to make George pay for this. I am going to have him come over the night I have romper room over and have his ass help me. He should have told me.” Meredith just laughed as she puts the money in her purse. The rest of the night was spent with the guys playing darts and the women all sitting around talking about the wedding… |

…Its now March 10th …. Tess had gone to Arizona yesterday afternoon for a week. She was then heading to Florida for a week… MR Lee had been over and showed Derek the plans to remodel the house… Meredith could not believe Mr Lee was going to add on just a little over 1000 square feet to the house… They were not going to tell Tess she was getting a bigger room. They wanted to surprise her. They were also adding a play area for the kids right off the kitchen area… Upstairs they were adding two bedrooms and a bathroom… Mr Lee said he would do his best to get it done in the two weeks. Derek said that he knew he could do it… The alarm went off at 4:30 am. Meredith moaned… Sammie had just gone to sleep just gone to sleep two hours ago… Derek pulled Meredith into him… “You stay in bed I will go to put the bags in the car...” Meredith just shook her head…”You did not get any more sleep than I did.” Derek just kissed her forehead…”It’s ok I will sleep on the plane or something…” As much as Meredith wanted to help Derek she just did not know if she could get out of bed… “You go put the bags in the car and I will be down with the kids in a few minutes” Derek slowly got out of bed… Meredith watched him. She never got tired of looking …His nice firm ass… his broad shoulders… His muscular chest… As he got dressed Meredith laid there watching him... He ran his hands over his face and then though his wild hair…He put on a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. Derek looked over and saw Meredith staring at him… he came over and gave her a kiss. "You cant look at me like that.” Meredith took a breath…”And why not? I like looking at you” Derek could not think about what she did to him by just looking at him… They had not made love in over 6 weeks and it was killing him….He wanted her so bad… “Because when you look at me like that it makes me want to do things to you…Things that I cant do to you yet.” Meredith smiled she loved that after five years of marriage and four kids Derek still found her irresistible. “Soon… You can do those things to me soon…” Derek thought about doing those things to her now. But quickly shook his head… No… he could not…He gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Leaving now..” Meredith just giggled as she watched him walk out the door. Meredith knew she could not just lay in bed any longer… it was time to go take a shower and wake the kids…. Once She was done with her shower she went in to wake Sarah… She watched her little girl sleep… she looked so cute holding her daddy bear in one arm and her thumb in her mouth…Both things Meredith wished she could stop… but every time they tried to take daddy bear away from her she would cry… She said that she had to have her bear with her or she would be lonely…It was Derek that said they would try again later…. Meredith walked over to Sarah’s bed and sat down… She gave her a kiss on the cheek… “Sarah its time to get up.” Sarah just cuddled her bear more and pulled the cover around her tighter… “Sarah don't you want to go see Nana and your cousins? Sarah opened her eyes. “I am still tired we can go latter..” Meredith laughed…” But the airplane won't wait for us… We need to hurry … you don't want to miss the plane do you?” Sarah slowly sat up…She let out a big yawn… “Why do we have to go so early?….” Meredith gave her a kiss on the forehead… She wondered the same thing herself. Derek said it was this flight or the red eye…Meredith picked the 8 am flight… “Because this way we get to spend more time with your Nana..” Sarah smiled… She really did love her Nana….. She understood that this was her daddy’s mommy and Nana Tess and Nana Sarah were very special people in her live…. Meredith picked out a few outfits to have Sarah choose from… Or Course she picked out her new lavender dress that her poppy gave to her for her birthday... “Sarah can you put your dress on while I go wake up your brothers?” “Yes mommy I am a big girl now.” She gave her a quick hug and said “Yes I know…” As she left the room Derek was just coming up the stairs… “Sarah is getting dressed and I am going to wake the boys… Why don't you take a shower and then make sure Sarah does not need any help." He gave her a hug… He could smell the lavender in her hair…”What could not wait of me so we could shower together?” Meredith just shook her head… “If we would have showered together we would be late…” Derek just gave her his famous smile…”It would have been worth it” Meredith just pulled away…”Is that all you ever think about?” He could feel himself getting more and more excited just thinking about taking a shower with her…. He had to move or else. Derek gave her a kiss and headed off to the shower. She went and got the boy’s up and ready. After the boys were ready.. Derek and Sarah were downstairs getting breakfast… Meredith took the boys downstairs and while they ate Meredith went upstairs to feed Sammie… By 6am they were headed to the airport. After they checked in they headed up to the gate. The boys and Sammie in the stroller and Sarah in her Sarah spot…. Once Sarah saw her Aunt Addie and Uncle Mark she told her daddy she wanted down… Derek took her off his shoulder.. Derek then took the stroller from Meredith “Aunt Addie.” Addison turned around when she heard Sarah call out her name… Addison still could not believe that Derek and Meredith had four kids… but Derek never looked happier in his life then he did right now…. Addie hugged the little girl that looked so much like her daddy.. "My don't you looked pretty this morning." "You like my new dress...My poppy gave it to me for my birthday..." Addie smiled.."Yes it is very pretty.." Mark came over and helped with the few carry on's that they had.. He looked up at Derek…”Your late man..” “Easy for you to say…you only have two kids to get ready.” Mark gave Derek one of his shitty ass grins… “Don't blame your kids because you could not keep your hands off your wife… “ Derek just glared at Mark because Mark knew damn well he was not getting any… “ There was none of that this morning… or for the last 6 weeks for that matter..” Mark just laughed…”Well if you did not have to get her knocked up…” Addie just hit him…”Mark there are kids….” Derek looked over to Addie and said “Thank you… You saved me from having to do it,” The boys were getting antsy just sitting in the stroller because they saw Sarah playing with Timmy and Maddie.. “Daddy out" ….Steven started to cry.. Derek helped the boy’s out of the stroller.. and they took off to join in the fun… Meredith said that she was going to go and get some coffee and a muffin… When she got back she saw Shawn sitting in the chair crying… She looked at Derek.. “Why is Shawn crying..?’ As soon as Shawn saw his mommy he started to climb out of the chair calling out for his mommy…“Mama” Derek looked over looked over and told him to get back in the chair and sit down… Then he looked over at Meredith…”He went over and took the toy out of Maddie’s hand and would not give it back… when Maddie tried to take it away from him he hit her with it… I will not have my son hitting a girl… or anyone for that matter…” Meredith heart broke when she saw Shawn crying and hold out his hands for her… But she knew Derek was right…Shawn was in his “time out” for two minutes… Meredith wanted to go over to him but she knew it was Derek that put him there so Derek had to take him out… Derek went over and sat next to his son… “Shawn.. We don't hit… you could have hurt Maddie…Do you understand me.” Shawn just nodded his head…Now give Daddy a hug and I want you to go over to Maddie and tell her your sorry… and You won't hit her again… Shawn gave Maddie a hug and said…”worry.. Maddie..” Mark told Maddie to give Shawn a hug and tell him it was ok. Maddie did what her daddy told her to… About another two minutes the announcement came for pre boarding.. Derek looked over to Meredith “Here we go…New York or Bust..” They found their seats in 1st class… Derek on one side of the plane with the boys and Meredith on the other side with the girls… Mark was in front of Derek with Maddie and Addie was in front with Timmy… Once the rest of the plane was loaded they took off… Watch out New York. Here we come… |

Once the plane landed in New York Derek told Meredith to take Sarah and Sammie down the ramp and he would wait at the door and wait at the door for the stroller with the boy's. As they waited for Derek Sarah looked up at her mommy.... "Mommy I have to go potty." Meredith asked Addie if would keep on eye on Sammie for her... Addie shook her head... "Thanks Addie we will be right back." She took Sarah's hand and off they went.. When they got back Derek was just putting Sammie in the stroller... Derek looked at Sarah.. "All ready for Nana's..." Sarah looked at her daddy. "Daddddy" Derek stopped pushing the stoller..."Yes Bug?" She just gave him the look... " I want my Sarah spot.' Derek looked over at mereidth for help... She just shook her head... Addie looked at Meredith "Don't ask... one of Derek brilliant idea's" Derek looked at Sarah... He was just going to have to tell her not this time... but she gave him the look and with those big blue eyes... the ones that he could not just say no to... He just shook his head.. why did I ever come up with this? He stopped pushing the stroller an picked Sarah up and put her on his shoulders...Meredith could not help but smile when she saw how happy Sarah was on her daddy's shoulders... When Maddie saw Sarah on her daddy's shoulder she looked up at Mark... "Daddy up" Mark glared over at Derek... Addison and Meredith laughed. "I so hate you right now" He said picking up his little girl an putting her on his shoulders. By the time they finally got to the luggage eara the bags were just coming down the ramp.. Once they got all the bags they headed off to get the cars.. Derek rented a Chevy Tahoe and Mark rented a Lexus LS. After they loaded the kids and the luggage they were off...Sarah was so excited. "Daddy are we there yet?" "Not yet Bug" Sarah started to pout.. "How much longer daddy?" Derek just shook his head.. 'Not much longer Bug" "Daddy... please hurry..." Derek looked at her in the rear view mirror.. "Why whats wrong baby?" Sarah shook her head.. "I just want to see my Nana" Both Derek and Meredith laughed... For the next few seconds it was quiet.. At first Meredith thought all the kids went to sleep... Nope the quiet did not last for long...Even though the boys were sleeping Sarah was wide awake. "Daddy is my cousin Stephanie going to be at Nana's." Derek was not sure if Mike Leah and the kids would be there or not...He knew they were going to try to be there but Mikey had some school function going on... "I don't know. We will have to wait and see when we get there." The closer they got to Helen's house the more questions Sarah asked..."Mommy are we going to sleep at Nana's?" Meredith looked over to Derek...She knew if it was up to him they would be staying at his mom's... "No not this time.. We are going to stay at Uncle Erick's." Sarah got a very puzzled look on her face and shook her head. "I don't know who Uncle Erick is?' Meredith turned around and looked at Sarah.. "Uncle Erick is Nana's brother. Like Steven and Shawn are your brothers.." Sarah thought about it.. Meredith could tell Sarah was thinking. "So is uncle Alex and Uncle Gorge are your brothers?" Meredith and Derek looked at each other.. Meredith took a breath. How was she going to explain to a 4 year old so she understood? "Well, Bug mommy does not have any real brothers or sister so Uncle Alex Uncle George Uncle Burke Aunt Izzie and Aunt Cristina all help me out by acting like brothers and sisters." Sarah nodded like she understood.. Sarah nodded like she understood.. "Is Uncle Mark's Brother your brother or Daddys brother?" Now it was Derek turn to take over the answers. "You see Sarah I have known Uncle Mark since the day he was born. We grew up together and because I am not as lucky as you to have a brother. So daddy thinks of Uncle Mark like a brother." Again Sarah nodded... Meredith just knew what was coming next and she wondered how they were going to explain the whole Aunt Addie thing to Sarah... Luckily before Sarah got out her next question Derek was pulling up to his mother's house. "Sarah look we are at Nana's" Meredith took a huge breath.. yes he mother in law and her did a much better job but she just was not sure things would go that smoothly... It never did when they came to New York. 9 |
