Braken's Story
Hi my names Karen- I'm a volunteer with Doris Banham and Sunday 18th Oct went on my first pound run. We were to collect a male staffy boy and take him to another rescue.
While we were there the girls at the pound were telling us about an owner that knew their dog was in the pound but couldn't be bothered to come and collect her. Even when they were told she would be put to sleep as she was an old dog and none of the rescues wanted her.
I was so upset and asked to see this little girl. This is her. Bracken. She's a staffy girl of 8 years old and due for destruction because heartless owners couldn't be bothered with her anymore. It broke my heart and although I knew we are at bursting point and really really shouldn't take her- we just bundled her in the van and hoped someone would have a kennel space.
So I feel really guilty and just hope you will feel as sorry for Braken as I did and offer her a home. Or maybe donate a few pennies for her boarding kennel space.
Braken is older, but should have several more years of life- shes active and a real sweety a little lumpy bumpy but has a waggy tail and a pretty face.. No bother- the pound staff said shes just happy to mooch about. We called her Piglett as she looks like a little pig because shes a little dollop and she even makes snorting little sounds. Easy to walk- wouldn't need lots of excersize would suit an older couple maybe to share their retirement with.
We squeezed her in at the kennels in Spalding please please call 01406540211 and prove to everyone we were right to pick up this little sweetheart.
