Meet Tess; she is a four-year-old female German Shepherd dog that has been with us since early October 2009, as her owner became ill and was no longer able to look after her.

Tess is a lovely, affectionate and nice natured lass once she knows you. She was a little bit on the timid side when she first arrived at the Home; however, now that she has settled into her routines she has become more confident.

She is an energetic lass that has bags of energy and is very playful and is seeking an active household.

Tess is obedient and knows a few of her basic commands, performing these when readily and seems eager to please.

Tess enjoys her walks, but is strong on the lead, but walks better on a harness when there are no distractions around!

However, she can be vocally aggressive towards other dogs that she sees, so she will need patience and training and socialization with other dogs to overcome this problem.

At present she can be ‘whiny’ and barks sometimes when she is left; however she is fine being left for short periods and soon settles down, quietly and is not destructive in any way.

Tess will be best homed in a family where there is someone around the house most of the time.

Tess is not good with other dogs, or cats, being dominant and therefore will need to be homed as the only pet.

She will suit an active household where her owners are experienced large breed dog owners.

She would be best in a family household where any children are 14+ as she has been known to be very protective of her owner once in a home.

Can you offer Tess, who came to us through no fault of her own, a new start in life?

Tess can be found in C Block with ID number 16977

If you are interested in offering Tess a home please drop into Bath Cats & Dogs Home during their opening hours, Tuesday-Sunday 11am – 4pm with some form of ID with your name and address on it to complete some paperwork.
