Danny - Rottweiller, neutered male 4 y/o

A very nice dog who deserves a great home with people who love and understand his breed. He is a little wary of strangers and he will guard - well what do you expect from a "guarding breed"

Danny came here when his family split up and he was devastated. His breeding almost got him PTS which would have been a tragedy, in fact he is one of the nicest dogs here, powerful but gentle, a big soft cuddle monster who is very easy to handle and not demanding in any way. He has lived with children and other dogs and is used to a town environment.

Newly arrived in the sticks and bewildered.

Ditto. Still regret letting Kaiser go, but he went to a good home. Danny looks very much like Kaiser love2

Yes it is Tracey :thumbs up: You have to spend time with this dog to appreciate his temperament, to understand him. One photo just cant describe him so I tried with the sequence to capture something of what he is like but there is more - a telepathy that has to be experienced to understand. We are indebted to Josie in London, Jayne in Northampton and Derrie in Luton for going the extra mile to save this dog with a bad (incorrect) write up and for giving us the chance to get to know him.

Danny has a new job and a new mate, he has a little nervous Rotti girl for company and he is giving her confidence and support and is a major force in our attempt to help her by removing stress from her life.

We did have an unsuitable enquiry for him yesterday and I tried to send an informative reply back detailing why the home wasnt suitable for Danny - from the email I got back I somehow dont think my reasoning was appreciated!!!! Oh well, back to charm school I guess!!

This morning when I let Danny and Mercy out for a run I was confronted with a Danny who couldnt get up out of his bed! I checked him as best I could and fearing a spontaneous hip fracture and bone cancer we bundled him off to the vets for X-rays.

This ruled out cancer and a fracture and suggested a disc problem and the slim hope of a treatment option.

The vet sent him home with a steroid injection and the instruction to ring if he got worse. We got him out of the car and he had a sleep but the move back to his kennel worried us greatly so we called the vet out again this evening and we expected to have to say goodbye to our big boy. :cryingtissues:

Vet has only just left and Danny has actually perked up a bit so we are back to plan A - referral to AHT in the morning as long as we see some improvement, if not then we may have to rethink.

Please send our lovely big boy all the healing that you can muster :cryingtissues:

Poor Danny :cryingtissues:

Just wanted to ask...obviously apart from the money issue...why is there no treatment option for him for a disc problem?

I know disc/spinal operations are expensive but you could try crate rest for 6-8 weeks first to see if there is any improvement? Sometimes the discs can heal themselves.

Would this not be possible?
It would be awful to say goodbye without trying :cryingtissues:

Surgery may be an option, hence the referral to AHT tomorrow but he is a BIG lad and not easy to nurse. At the moment he cannot move.
