Can YOU offer Vinnie (Vince) a new loving home?

Meet Vinnie; he is a two-year-old male German Shepherd that has been with us since the end of March 2009, after being found abandoned, tied to a fence in a very sad state.

Vinnie is a very sweet and an incredibly affectionate dog which is amazing since all he has probably been through.

He came into the Home very scared and obviously knew nothing at all about the big wide world.

His legs and body were covered in open sores, probably from being forced to lie in his own urine.

Because of this we think that he may have been shut up in a shed or room for a good part of his life.

Because Vinnie knew nothing we have had to introduce him to everything and teach him as best we can how to behave in different situations.

His on-going training now means that he is very good with people and most dogs alike.

Although he is still very scared at times and will sometimes bark when unsure.

He gets very attached to his carers here at the Home and at times has shown signs of developing separation problems and even the early signs of being protective over certain carers, towards other dogs. But he has never been aggressive in either of these situations.

He is currently under training for these behaviour issues, which will hopefully solve the problem before it really starts and anyone that would like to re-home Vinnie would have to be prepared to have visits with the on-site behaviourists before and after adopting him for further training.

He is very strong on the lead and therefore is under going further lead training.

He is a very intelligent dog that is learning very fast and already knows some of his basic commands.

Vinnie loves a fuss and a cuddle and is proving to be a really super dog.

He is showing that he will be playful and is seeking an active new home where any children are aged 12+.

Vinnie hasn't always been clean in his kennel but is rapidly improving and is mostly clean now, he always tries to hold on until you get him out, so this shows that he will probably be clean in the house, and if not he will be very quick to learn with the correct training.

Vinnie hates being left and becomes very anxious which is not surprising after all he has been through and can be a very noisy dog, whining and screaming when watching his friends (human and canine) walk away from him after walks, and tries to push past you before the door shuts.

His wounds are being treated on a daily basis and he is coming on in leaps and bounds.

If anyone has that special home and would like to offer dear Vinnie a new loving home and they have the time to give him loads of love and have the time to train him further, please call or drop into the Home and speak to the animal behaviourists.

If you are interested in offering Vinnie a home please drop into Bath Cats & Dogs Home during our opening hours, Tuesday-Sunday 11am – 4pm with some form of ID with your name and address on it to complete some paperwork.

The recommended rehoming catchment area is Bristol to Swindon. Although for dogs needing follow up veterinary or behavioural treatment the catchment area is Gloucester to Somerset.

However if you are interested in rehoming Vinnie and you live outside of these areas PLEASE call the BCDH on our helpline 01225-787321 between 10am – 4pm daily for clarification.

Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you soon.

Vinnie can be found in D Block with ID number 15582

Yes that's the boy !
Hasn't he got the most beautiful , forgiving eyes?
Something that always amazes me about sheps is that no matter
what happens to them they will mostly always learn to love again.
I guess that's why my dogs make me feel humble.
I hope he finds somewhere soon.

We may go and see Vinnie at the weekend. Not promising anything as it would depend on being homechecked if we liked Vinnie and he liked us and most importantly whether Max and Vinnie would get on.

Can't believe he's still in kennels. he's such a handsome chap love2
