History: Spud was found stray in a nervous state. He was not claimed.

Salient points: Initial nerves, but soon gains confidence. Submissive by nature. Ideally needs to be homed with a confident other dog or dog confident family.

Advert: Spud is about 80% German Shepherd. He has the long body, Shepherd tail and muzzle ... even fur type. His ears however suggest a complimentary influence perhaps Collie. He is young, around 9 months. He nerves suggest inexperience or sensitive by nature, rather than from an abusive background. Can bark at strangers on first approach, but seconds later he comes up, smells and he is becoming your best-ever mate! It wont take Spud long to gain his confidence and enjoy his family. He is a very loving dog who bonds deeply given a chance.

Spud mixes well with confident dogs and his submissive pup nature shines through, with other dogs rather pleased to have him around. Spud is newly neutered, vax'd and chipped. If you love Shepherds and if you have met the Shepherd x Collie mix before, you'll know just how much you'll love Spud. He is easily trained and just waiting for his skills to be affirmed and his pack leader to lead the way.

"Please note that this dog is currently in kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".

Yes, we have some romantic news ... an update from his kennels:

Spud has a girlfriend! The lovely boy has paired with Holly and I think that this is going to do wonders for his confidence. Spud is hard to read really. He has all the front, but once faced with a dog he just wants to play. He is afterall just a puppy. So we gave him a nice surprise by putting him out for his afternoon exercise and then chucking Holly into the middle of the equation too.

This is the Sad-Sac that I first saw ...

...he has certainly changed! He is a joyful and happy boy now and although he has issues to be worked on (cars!) we are getting there.
Spud needs a confident handler. He looks to me as his handler at the moment and is very well behaved round cars considering what he was first like. It is literally just a young dog that has not been socialised properly and with time and effort will be fine.

An update and new photos of Spud from his foster home ...

“Hey. well what can I say about this chap he is coming on so well. His heal work is improving all the time.

He came out in the lorry last weekend to his first competition. My mum took him for a walk whilst I was out riding and he was very interested in everything, but was a really good boy. Didn’t mind leaving Vixen in the lorry and only barked a couple of times when mum took Vixen away.

He loved sticking his head out of the window with the wind blowing his ears all over the place. He is very chilled at home and takes no notice of the horses, loves water - the hosepipe is one of his favourite games lol!

He is just looking for his forever home, with a fab family and he loves being out and about. His confidence is growing all the time.

I understand that it has been arranged for Anne to meet another one of our dogs shortly and am keeping fingers crossed for them.

Spud is still available for homing and looking for his forever home.
