Kai and Ice![]() Taken from death-row on the day they too were going to be slaughtered. These two rottweillers are very underweight and skinny, but both are sweet natured, despite being hungry. They only arrived at the centre yesterday (11th November), so we will learn more about them as time goes on. They were due to die together on the day they came here, but thankfully, we were made aware of their plight and brought them here to safety. These two lovely fellas really love each other and are devoted to each other, so we'd like them to stay together if possible. Over the next few weeks or so that they are with us, we will find out more about them and get their weight as it should be (or at least, get them on the road to what it should be - you can't rush these things) and will then be looking for a kind home, where they can stay together and never be hungry again. So far, they are proving to be very sweet boys. Kai is 3 years old and Ice is about 18 months. More about these two as we learn about them. Donations are required and follow up visits will be undertaken. Please see our website for details of rehoming and to submit an application for a homecheck. Dogs must be microchipped and obtain ID discs before leaving the kennels. Homes offered in the Herts/Essex area please. http://www.muttsindistress.org.uk |

Well, these two have been starved for so long, that now they are having trouble keeping food down. Their bodies are just not used to having food. How cruel that someone can watch dogs starve to death before their very eyes and yet, do nothing about it. Kai was the one most poorly and he has been in the vets on a drip. They say he is full of acid, due to his starvation. He was discharged and came home on lots of meds a few days ago. We brought him home and put him in the hospital unit here, but this morning, he was ill and weak again. He is currently back on a drip again. Why do we have to sweep up after the cruelty our own kind are inflicting on innocent animals?? They must have seen these two lovely boys just starving in front of them. They can't say ''I'm really hungry, can I have something to eat please'' Can they? Let's hope that this time, he can cope when he comes off he drip. Come on Kai, your misery is over once you get back. We will find you a lovely home where you'll never be hungry again.... Pat x Edited by Cheryl, 1 Dec 2008, 02:26 PM.

Karen (Jerryleesmum) spoke to the vet this afternoon and he has had to open him up. The dog is so full of gas, acid and liquid that he just cannot shift it without surgery. He can't eat anything or drink anything himself, without his stomach rejects it. Today, the vet scraped everything out that was inside him that shouldn't have been. He is now on IV drugs, fluid and food.We have no idea how long he will have to stay at the vets, or even if he will pull through. His friend seems ok in the kennel without him - quiet. We do not know, at this stage whether Kai is going to live or not. We just pray very hard that his life doesn't have to end like this. He' still only a baby as well. He's BACK!!!! He is so, so skinny though. He has to wear a coat when he goes out. There's just no meat on his bones, it's sad to see him. When I clapped eyes on him yesterday, I just cried . I cried again when I was handed the bill for him (£1,029.03) He is the friendliest dog you could wish to meet. So sad to see him in this avoidable state. We haven't been able to re-introduce him back to his friend yet, since he is in the hospital unit here. We are feeding him 6 very small meals a day, to get his stomach used to accepting food again. He was the thinnest of the two. The other one is coming on in leaps and bounds. I'll get a pitcure of poor Kai (who continues to greet everyone like an old friend, with his little stump wagging for all it's worth!!) and you can see how thin he really is. He's one of the thinnest dogs I've ever seen He'll be alright now though Pat x |

Well done Pat for rescueing these two lovely boys. Keeping my fingers crossed everything goes well for them both now.Doesn't it make you sick that people can starve animals like this, especially when a rottie was on tv this morning and weighed 11stone. I despair of bloody humans sometimes, how can they live with themselves. ( bet the ex owners were fat gits as well)
