Hi ALL

Sorry its been a while since I updated on Gem. Shes doing really well, we have been working really hard with Gem so she can socialise with other dogs and she is coming on leaps. We can now walk up the road and around and about without her lunging at dogs trying to take there heads off and barking has stopped. She is walking much better on the lead due to her calming down a fair amount now . Its been a very long slow process so far but so very worth all the hard work. We still long rein Gem as she can't been trusted off lead with other dogs some are fine others are not. We have found some classes for her now that will take us so that we can progress more as we feel that now she has better self control with close contact of other dogs. We are so in love with her and it can be so hard at times not to just want to scoop her up and protect as she does have a fear when going at other dogs but we are working hard being firm but fair. Ted and Gem are great friends now much to our delight and we have sat in the garden most evening watching them playing until they can't play any longer they are a real couple now which is the best. :funny little things:

She still has issues when I leave her but she is getting better but we feel its just a matter of time for her. She has calmed down so much but does need to be shown and Ted helps alot with that in most activities....good old Ted.

We are planing a walking holiday at the moment without children just doggies....which will be lovely

Will take some pictures of them playing soon and post for all to see.

Kindest regards

Louise & Gem

Hi All

Gem - 10 mths on;

Gem has just been for her annual booster, we had her weight checked and shes dropped 4kilos (24.3 now)....bit of a worry. Maybe just an error on their part of course, as she is looking fab, putting on weight and muscle tone albeit slowly but then slow is better than too fast. Considering she is still young and food is being taken in all areas of her body at this time. She still has four meals a day as she is fussy and we felt that little but often is much better than overload. She has treats which the vet wants TED not to have and GEM to have plenty.....could prove hard. Anyway just wondered if you have any thoughts.

Other than that Gem is doing great.....her and TED are best of buddies and she meets other dogs but we still have barking and aggression with strange dogs mostly little ones. Just back from the New Forest and had plenty of walks and paddling in the streams....which seems to be a favourite of hers, she even got Ted in the water which is very usual for him.

Best wishes to all

Louise & Gem

Hi All

I've been with my forever home for almost a whole year, I'm very happy and putting on weight nicely. My new family found another behaviourist for me who came to visit me at home and is happy for me to start puppy classes. Our new trainer has great hopes for me that I will be able to overcome my fears of other strange dogs! I'm hoping that I might be able to go on a bigGSD walk soon once we are all happy and feel I can cope. My family say they love me very very much and although I have been a handful they wouldn't have me any other way!

My trainer has advised a new diet also for me which will help as I'm very stressy and he felt that the diet had a bit to do with this and he has given advice of leaving me also as I hate that. Me and Ted love each other very much and play lots and lots.

Thank you to all who helped me find my forever home who really are going to be my happy ever after family.

Lots of love

GEM......xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
