This very sad looking boy is Toby

Posted Image

He is a five and a half-year-old black and tan castrated male German Shepherd cross who was returned to us in July 2008, after four years as his owners were expecting a new baby and couldn't cope. He originally arrived in June 2004, via an RSPCA Inspector, as Toby was found very emaciated and in extremely poor condition.

Very friendly and affectionate Toby has a wonderful temperament.

He loves going for walks, is very good off lead and returns immediately when called even if he is bounding around the field.

He is a very playful, gentle and sociable creature that is very well behaved and settles quickly when required.

He is a laid-back chap that is very loving and tactile and will shake a paw.

He is been under the vets supervision since returning here, having twice weekly baths to improve his skin condition. He will need someone who is willing to continue this and lives locally to return him to see our vets as he has a very serious skin condition. Toby will probably go out on assisted adoption which means that the Home would pay for any treatment with regards to his current condition.

He is fine to be left for a couple of hours, seems to be wary of some men and maybe protective in a home environment.

He is good with other dogs, but best to be homed as the only dog – perhaps needs a few manners!

Not good with cats as he seems to like to chase them and would fine with a family with children of all ages.

Can you offer Toby a new loving home where he can get all the love and attention that he deserves?

I have cross posted this on behalf of, and with the permission of, BCDH to who all enquiries should be directed quoting Toby E Block 3263

The recommended rehoming catchment area is Bristol to Swindon. Although for dogs needing follow up veterinary or behavioural treatment the catchment area is Gloucester to Somerset.

However if you are interested in rehoming Toby and you live outside of these areas PLEASE contact BCDH
