Dear Wytch

Don't worry- I am not offended.

Boomer has had a very busy day and a very frustrating one as all the new games he has found have been stopped one by one. The hedgecutter man arrived to cut the hedges round his new field, so he helped me take the electric fence down and then thougt it was a good game to run off with the plastic posts, but he was not allowed to pick them up, so that was no fun at all. He watched me ride the horses in the menage, but only from the back of the car as he looked as though he was going to jump into the menage to play, so he was tied in the back with the tailgate open and had to just watch, so another disappointment. More abuse was hurled at first but even the novelty of that wore off after a while when he was ignored.

He introduced himself to the older horse Murphy and was very disappointed he showed no interest in playing with him, so he then found something else to do.

The quad bike and little trailer were much better fun and he thought he would bark his head off and run in front of the bike and see how close he could get to the wheels before he was run over, so that game was soon stopped as well with the aid of water in a spray bottle. He soberly ran by the side in silence and just kept his eye on the spray bottle by my foot. He was not even allowed anywhere near the lovely smelling piles of horse manure in the field because when he even looked at them he could see my hand go towards the spray bottle and that was enough to make him change his mind.

After all this he was ready to go home and told me so by sitting in the drivers seat of the car - after he had ransacked the car to see if he could find anything edible in it first. It was a shame he had not wiped his feet.

He was quite thirsty when he got home, even though he had free access to all the water troughs and stable buckets, so he had a good drink and slobbered it literally everywhere on his return, so the kitchen is like a skating rink. He remembered the bird bath and put his ball in it - such a good game. He thinks I am a miserable old cow as stop his games and I keep telling him he is not allowed to stand on his back legs as he is too young. He just thinks I am a kill joy.

After all this he was exhausted and has slept all afternoon. He has even let me out of his sight for a while as he has been my shadow since he came back. He is such a character. He loves Chris and made him very welcome when he came home last night. It has been really nice to have a dog about the place again as we had our old gsd put to sleep a year ago and our lab in April. They were both 15 so having Boomer has been a bit of a culture shock as you forget how lively - and naughty - a young dog is.

I fogot my camera up the stables but I have taken a few at home and will see if I can attach some.

Boomer is doing really well.He is great in the car and comes every where with me. His tummy has settled down and he is eating well - too well in fact! He stole the cooked pork joint that we thought we had left well out of reach on the work top and had gnawed a nice big chunk off before we managed to get it off him. He sat so nicely and asked for it back and was most put out when we said no!

He does not like going out in the garden in the dark on his own, so we have to go with him first thing in the morning so the lights come on. It took him one day to find out how to open the back door and come in, so once he is finished outside his paw is on the handle, the door crashes against the wall and in he comes ready for action.

The bird bath is out of action as the top is now on the floor, so another job for tomorrow. Next door's cat nearly lost its tail this morning, so cat lessons are needed. Spooky was obviously not hard enough on him!

He had a morning with Chris' parents on Tuesday and was very good and met grandmother, aged 98. He had been round there once before to be introduced. He looked for Chris and I a good part of the time and did not really settle, but it was his first time away so he did quite well. Apparently he went mad when Chris collected him at lunch time - perhaps he thought he had gone to yet another home, poor boy. He was spoilt the whole time he was there and had loads of fuss and attention. Appaarently he did not sleep much and was very tired when he came home, but not so tired he could not steal the pork!

When I have more time I will upload some more photos showing the mess he has made of the pile of gravel in the yard and playing king of the castle on the top of the much heap.
