Following on from the ANVIL -All Ireland Conference - held in Dublin
in September, we are holding a meeting in Athlone,Co.Westmeath
on Sunday 18th November. Athlone was selected as the venue, as it
is literally in the centre of Ireland and equally accessible from all corners
of the country.

The purpose of this meeting is to follow up on the main points raised at
the Conference:

*Ministerial responsibility
*Legislation
*Microchipping/Identification
*Neutering
*Garda ( Police) training (vis a vis animal welfare)
*Rescue/Welfare group association

I know that members on this board who have been stalwart supporters
of our (ANVIL) aims will be keen to hear the outcome of this meeting and
we will update following the meeting.

I'm only back home a few hours so have been offline
all day - until now :P

Yes, we missed you guys !!!

It was a great meeting - a serious "working" meeting and
we have achieved a wonderful result which I will update
on later but we now have consensus from many rescues who
attended - large groups to individual smaller rescues.

It's been a long tiring day, there was serious discussion for
many hours but the outcome is so positive that 2008 is going
to be even better regarding moving forward.

ANVIL was born 2 years ago this week and there were many
times when we wondered if it would "happen" - yes, there
is a long road ahead regarding tackling animal welfare issues,
creating a "welfare" environment here in the minds of our
public representatives, Government and the public, but it will
succeed - come hell or high water !!!

I still remember the day Miriam rang me and said....
" I have an idea...." and how we fumbled around to get a
suitable name etc.......seems like an eternity ago

and again the support of all you guys on this board has kept
us focussed when days were "dark" -

....out of little acorns :D
